A story of love, survival, and the fight to reclaim what’s been lost—Will She Run is an emotional journey through one woman’s battle to confront the past that haunts her and the future she’s desperate to protect.
Adeline “Della” Bennet is running from her past, but the quiet refuge of the Adirondacks offers only a temporary peace. Haunted by the death of her father and the suffocating guilt of leaving her mother in the clutches of an abusive man, Della struggles to find a sense of normalcy. She’s rebuilt her life under a new name, far from the chaos that’s defined her life these last few years, but no matter how far she goes, the secrets she’s buried refuse to stay hidden.
When Della finds herself falling for Caiden, the strong, protective man who refuses to let her go, she realizes that keeping her heart safe might be more difficult than outrunning her past. But her walls are high, and trust doesn’t come easily—not when danger still looms. With an old enemy closing in and the weight of her lies threatening to shatter everything, Della is forced to confront the painful truths she’s kept hidden.
As dark forces tighten their grip, Della must decide if she can trust anyone enough to let them in—or if her only choice is to run again, leaving behind the friends, the life, the one place, and the one person who might finally offer her freedom. In a world where danger is ever-present and safety an illusion, will she find the strength to fight for her future, or will she once again choose to run?
Alyssa-Ray Bouman is a wife, mom, Christian, and licensed cosmetology teacher who somehow manages to juggle it all while chasing her wild toddler around their family farm in New Jersey. Before diving into writing, she worked as a substance abuse counselor. She loves weaving heart, humor, and just the right amount of chaos into her writing, creating characters and narratives that feel real and relatable.
When she’s not writing, she’s off on adventures with her husband, playing with their son, attempting to drink a hot cup of coffee, or trying to read a book. Her time in the Adirondacks has inspired her to bring the beauty of nature and life’s messy, meaningful moments into her stories. Somehow, between nap times and endless piles of laundry, she always finds a way to craft the next chapter—because in her world, life and storytelling are one big adventure.
Will She Run was a captivating story! I immediately felt the connection between Adeline and Caiden and loved her friendship with Callie! The anticipation of waiting for Della to open up to Caiden and be together, and knowing Mack was bound to reappear, kept me turning page after page!

Adeline “Della” Bennet must decide if she can stop running from the trauma of her past and risk opening her heart to love, or if the secrets and danger catching up to her will force her to disappear all over again.
Wow. Just… wow. I’m honestly blown away. When I first saw the cover, I expected a thriller—but that’s not what this book is. Instead, it’s a powerful contemporary love story rooted in trauma and healing, one that had me on the edge of my seat, constantly bracing for the worst. This book dives deep into the impact of emotional manipulation—how someone’s words can slowly wear you down, reshape your thoughts, and make you question yourself. But at its core, it’s also a story about hope. It shows that with the right people around you—those who truly care and lift you up—there’s a path to healing and a better life. It’s honestly inspiring. I wish I’d picked it up sooner, because it’s such an important read. It shines a light on very real issues that deserve more attention, while also offering insight into the mindsets of people who’ve experienced similar tragedies. This book was something truly special, and I loved every second of it. If you’ve read it—or when you do—please message me immediately. I need to vent, swoon over the best quotes, and emotionally unpack all of it together.
This is the book. It tackles a lot of important and tough topics. This book is not for the faintest of hearts so please be careful
As abusive as this character was, I really liked the author wrote everything. The language was impeccable. I feel like we all know a Della and a Caiden or we’ve passed them at one point. It felt so real and that’s how you know the book was great
Caiden is such a grump but so protective. What more do you need? It’s like everything about this book was the right fit. The genre, the tropes, the micro tropes, the characters, the sequence of events… everything just felt right
It was hard reading it because when you read you feel everything with the characters. To read and see what Della endured was heartbreaking. She finally ran and she was on a mission to rebuild her life and find herself while still struggling with her traumas
It wasn’t just struggles all the time, a beautiful friendship came out of that self discovery journey. There was healing and a found family. You could see her walls slowly breaking and she was rebuilding her life step by step by having people who really cared about her by her side and that was beautiful
Callie and Della were literally meant to be in each other’s lives. Callie is the best friend Della didn’t know she needed. I get that so much. When you know, you know. She was just her platonic soulmate and she saved her 🤍
That was a tough reading but I just didn’t want to stop reading because I just wanted to know if she’ll make it and she did and that’s a reminder that you can too, no matter what, you can stand tall and show the world that you’re a boss ass woman🤍
5 🌟 I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! From the first page I was HOOKED!! I saw it describes as romantic suspense on amazon so expected it to have a mystery element but this book was more of an emotional story of abuse in a household and the guilt and trauma from a sitting like that! It was raw, emotional and had EVERYTHING i wanted and more. I truly felt connected to these characters and seeing Della grow was one of my most favourite things ever! I was fully addicted into reading this and couldn’t stop! I absolutely ADORE this book and truly have discovered I just love broken characters that fall in love and find freedom together! I CANNOT WAIT for Callie’s and Parker’s book… I need it right now!! I feel like i have not got the words to provide justice for just how much of a masterpiece this book is! Please please read this book if you can! ⚠️Check TW’s as well as it does deal with heavy topics such as abuse. I really will reread this book in the future because I have a feeling I’m going to miss these characters…
Will She Run is book one of the Will of the Heart Series by Alyssa-Rae Bouman. It’s a story about a young woman, Della, who was abused by her step-father for years before finally finding a chance to escape his wrath. She finds refuge in a small town in the Adirondacks, where she befriends Callie, who gives her a job at a local tavern and lets Della move in with her and her brother, Caiden.
Della finds herself falling for broody, protective Caiden, who has already fallen hard for her, but her walls are always up due to her PTSD. Caiden is determined to gently push through her barriers, breaking them down little by little. He is fiercely protective, and although he looks intimidating to most people, he is super sweet and patient when it comes to Della.
This was an inspiring story of how love can overcome even the toughest obstacles. It was an enjoyable slow burn romance, but I did find it was a bit repetitive at times and maybe drawn out longer than necessary. I loved the characters, and the author did a great job introducing each one and character building the MCs. I have already purchased the next book and am looking forward to following Callie’s story!
“We’re all a little broken, Del. I don’t care how many pieces you think you’re in. I want them all. Every last piece of you – the broken and shattered ones, along with the good. Because when I look at you, every piece is beautiful. Even the ones you try to hide.”
“You looked like you were ready to devour me a second ago.” “Oh, trust me, Della. I’m going to know every inch of you by the time I’m done.”
“Tell me you’re mine.” He says softly. “I need to hear it, Della. Because I’m yours. Completely.”
“We're all a little broken Del. I don't care how many pieces you think you're in. I want them all. Every last piece of you–the broken and shattered ones along with the good. Because when I look at you, every piece is beautiful.” - Alyssa-Ray Bouman
I would like to thank LoveNotes PR and Alyssa-Ray Bouman for this ARC opportunity!
Adeline was used to heartache, control, and pain. For six years, Adeline has dealt with the loss of her father and her new family dynamic. Now, she's on the run. Hiding as Della, she finds a job and a new set of friends that she keeps at a distance. How long until her past catches up to her? Can she trust Caiden and let her walls down? Or will she continue to run?
I devoured this book in a handful of hours. I could not put it down for very long at all. I loved the characters in this book. I loved the relationships that Adeline formed with everyone. The pacing felt intentional to build suspense with the story. The romance was nicely placed into the story and not over the top. The author tied up all the stories introduced without leaving any major cliffhangers. the writing style allowed me to create pictures in my mind that made me feel like I could see the scene in my head.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes suspenseful, slow-burn romances. Although, I would say to read the triggers since this book has a heavy background with domestic violence and abuse.
Tropes: Romantic Suspense, Grumpy x Grumpy romance, Best Friend's Brother, Slow Burn, Small Town Romance
Wow....this book...just wow. Finished this book in just a day and can say there was absolutely no way I was putting it down without knowing how this story ended. "Will She Run" was a rollercoaster of emotions, I physically felt my heart breaking with Adeline dealing with her father's death, and then watching the way her mother and her was abused by Mack. I felt the anger she felt when she threw that life altering punch to Mack's nose that spearheaded her running away and having to leave her mother behind. She had a built a fortress up around her life and had plans to keep it that way until then Della and Caiden came into her life. The story was a powerful one showing healing can happen but also to bring to light that there are stories just like Adeline's out there in this world.

This was a perfect mix of romance and suspense for me. A journey of beginning to heal and find one is stronger than they think. That they are worth it. This book was the first one I got on my journey to read my local indie authors and stories. I am so grateful for it... there is a very hard subject that is a big part of the storyline and can turn some away. It did turn my stomach, but... I actually like that this book had a realness to it. The best part for me? The Adirondacks. Della found peace and healing in the Adirondacks. I have always found that area to be a calming area for me. one I feel I can breathe in. So, the fact it was used as a safe haven for someone was spectacular for me. the found family feel was also so amazing and heartwarming. The secrets upon secrets created quite a bit of tension throughout, but boy... it was all worth it. I can't wait to continue with Callies' story after a bit of digestion time.
Will She Run follows Della Bennet, a woman haunted by her past, as she seeks peace in the Adirondacks after fleeing a traumatic life. She struggles with guilt over her father's death and abandoning her mother to an abusive relationship.
When she falls for Caiden, a protective man, Della must confront her past and the danger that still threatens her. The story is emotionally engaging, with well-developed characters and a strong emotional journey, though the plot is predictable, and the suspense falls a bit short. Overall, a solid read, but it could have used more plot twists.
Will She Run is a captivating small-town romance with a slow-burn love story that I couldn’t put down. Caiden, the broody MMC, is a grumpy protector with a surprisingly soft side, especially when it comes to Della. Della, the FMC, has a tough exterior built from past trauma, but watching her slowly open up was so rewarding. The story also beautifully explores found family and the healing power of love. Add in some suspense with secrets and lies, and you’ve got a heartwarming, emotional read that hits all the right notes. Definitely recommend if you like slow burns, damaged characters, and a touch of mystery!
Della is trying to escape her traumatic past in the Adirondacks and most of all survive. She meets Callie and Caiden, who become significant parts of her life. Callie is the friend she didn’t know she needed by showing her so much love and support. Callie’s brother, Caiden, is the dream guy and really wants to help her overcome the dark parts of her life. This is a great book on second chances and finding strength to overcome anything. I enjoyed this book and definitely suggest grabbing a copy! Check your trigger warnings ✨
Omg this is such an amazing story! This story will definitely keep you on your toes. Check the TW because some things in the story can be triggering. Della is such a strong person and Caiden is just what she needs. I'm so happy that he never gave up on her and never let him push her away. I cant wait for Callie's story!
This had potential, with the strong and intense opening of her father's abu$e at home. She escapes and soon runs into our mmc. I find it hard to believe that after years of tr@uma, she'd already be having lusty thoughts about this man and think these thoughts so easily. I would've expected her to be more wary of close proximity, touch with such a strong, big male such as he.
But she seemed to recover so quickly after the prologue of sorts. Then I feel like his characterization was at odds from how he first interacted with her to later.
Just found it not as believable and more predictable.
Will She Run by Alyssa-Ray Bouman is a riveting and visceral story that gripped me, it is an unputdownable suspense filled small town romance! The heroine, Della, is unlike any character I've encountered in a long time, she is varied tormented by her past, and always struggling with the weight of all she has left behind! Her journey is terrifying, dramatic, and brilliantly layered, with moments of survival, self-discovery, and a passionate resolve to preserve the little calm she has managed to carve herself! Alyssa-Ray Bouman's work is lyrical and compulsive, rendering each feeling with beauty and sincerity!!! . Caiden, Della's powerful and protective hero, offers a dimension of optimism and trust that is almost beautiful! Their relationship is electrifying and compassionate, with his constant presence urging Della to confront her worries rather than hide from them, however, this is a story of tenacity and the effort to overcome pain! Every page is packed with the tension of Della's decisions: whether to flee and protect herself, or to finally let someone in, sacrificing her heart and hard-earned independence! . The author's style is outstanding conjuring vivid images that indicate the severity of her history and the delicate serenity of the present. I could practically feel the biting cold and hear the silence of the woodland, adding! As terrible forces from Della's past reappear, the tension builds, making it difficult to put the book down! . I rate this book five stars because it is heartbreaking and inspiring. Will She Run made me think about the bravery it takes to confront one's past and the courage needed to construct a future! I adored the characters' complexity and elegant prose, which made each scene feel enormous and real! I definitely suggest this book to anybody searching for a compelling romance as well as a raw, wonderfully written novel of survival and second chances, Alyssa wrote a book I will not soon forget!
I was trapped in Della’s story from the start. I felt so deeply and strongly while reading this book, I totally loved it. The feel was raw and lovely the entire time. To learn Della’s story and see everything she was going through made me slowly fall in love with this book and every single character in it expert for Mack (f**k that guy). I grew to hate him so easily and so strongly that he became real for me just like he was for Della. 💔 Alyssa-Ray, you wrote his character so beautifully!!
To watch Della make friends and start to live her life like she deserved was so heartwarming and fulfilling for me. 💞 I hated to see her struggle with her demons and having a hard time accepting that she deserves life, love, happiness and living free. This story is filled with heartbreak and happiness and everything of a little bittersweet but I LOVED IT SO MUCH.
All of the characters were so relatable and loving, I enjoyed watching their friendship with Della grown and blossom into something strong and trustworthy even though it took some time for the bonds to form, they were very well worth the wait. 🥰
I was anticipating Mack the entire time and when he finally came I was in shock, I was broken at how much harm he caused EVERYONE but loved what happens to him at the end. 🫣 He deserved that !!
The love between Della & Caiden was complicated in the beginning because of all the secrets but once Della spoke openly about everything, things seemed to fall in place and the love grew to be powerful and unbreakable by the end which I was so happy about. 💘
This book was great, left me a total emotional wreck and I struggled to read through it because I didn’t want it to end but I loved it so much. What a masterpiece this book truly is 🔥
FAVORITE QUOTE: “ Watching her light up like this—it’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater too long” - Caiden
In *Will She Run*, Alyssa-Ray Bouman delivers an emotionally charged, suspenseful romance about survival, resilience, and the power of love to heal even the deepest wounds. Adeline “Della” Bennet isn’t just running—she’s trying to start over, to escape a past that refuses to let her go. But in the quiet sanctuary of a small town she finds something she never expected: safety, belonging, and Caiden.
From the moment they meet, there’s an unspoken understanding between them. Caiden isn’t just a love interest—he’s her anchor, her protector, the kind of man who sees past her walls and refuses to let fear define her future. Their connection is raw, tender, and beautifully slow-burning. But when the past comes crashing back, Della must decide: will she keep running, or will she finally stand and fight?
The tension in this book is *real*—Bouman masterfully weaves suspense into every chapter, making it impossible to put down. The emotional depth, the push-and-pull of trust and fear, and the way love is shown as something steady rather than a quick fix *hit hard*.
If you love romantic suspense with heart-pounding moments, a fiercely protective hero, and a heroine learning to reclaim her life, *Will She Run* is a must-read.
Will She Run is a story that will forever remain a part of my heart! 🥹💕 It was beautiful, powerful, evocative, inspiring, and I loved it so much! ❤️ It takes a lot to make me cry when reading a book and this one managed to get me with tears streaming down my face during the prologue! 😭💔 In other words, this entire book was an emotional rollercoaster of a ride and it’s an experience I am never going to forget! 😱🙈🙀🤯😭💔❤️🩹🥰 I read this whole story in the span of a day like I was devouring a bowl of popcorn and I absolutely can’t wait for book two to get into my hands! 🫶
Della truly is such a strong and inspiring FMC! ❤️ Her journey tore my heart into so many pieces with how much trauma she has had to endure in her life! 😭💔 I wanted nothing more than to give Della the biggest hug throughout the entire story! 🫂 The found family aspect is beautiful in so many ways and I truly am so grateful that Della found Callie and Caiden when her life was at an all-time-low! 🥹🫶 Alyssa Ray has written all of her characters with such depth and soul and I truly felt so emotionally connected to them all! 🥰❤️ The dual POV is so beautiful and I loved having Della’s and Caiden’s POVs. It provided two whole sides to the story and I felt it truly enhanced it! 🫶
If you love slow burn romance, found family, best friend’s brother, lots of secrets, trauma from the past that is haunting the FMC in the present day, suspense, a grumpy MMC with the heart of a teddy bear, and a book that will hold a spot in your heart forever then this is the book for you! 🫶
Thank you too, LoveNotes PR for sending me a copy of this book. At the start I was like a little confused with some of the flashbacks. Going back-and-forth had me tripped up for a bit, but then once I got it together, I was engaged. I’ve been reading more romantic thrillers, so I was happy to see where this one was going to go. Our main character Della is running from an abusive situation. She is trying to start new and doing things she’s never done before. She settles into a new place and is trying to essentially start over but she does still think about things from her past life that haunt her. As she’s starting this new life she meets a bestie and that said bestie has a brother. This is a best friend‘s brother trope, which I actually love. I think those are always so cute. The good thing about this one though is Della actually meets her best friend’s brother before they’re introduce. She literally bumped into him. I will say I kind of wanted some more twist and turns with the drama. Some of the stuff I was able to guess like pretty easily and maybe I just wanted it to be a little bit more of a challenge. Maybe just adding more twist and turns to shake people up so they wouldn’t guess correctly. I was happy with the way things ended for everyone, that was really sweet. Then the epilogue was cute because it leads to Callie, which is Della’s best friend, her story and I think that would be really interesting.
Will She Run has a lot of triggers for those who have dealt with or witnessed domestic abuse and the trauma that goes along with it. As a teenager Della loses her father in a car accident that she continuously blames herself for and from there her whole world turns upside down and spirals. While she was recovering in the hospital her mother meets her soon-to-be step-dad who is a police officer and supposed to be the savior in their lives after the accident. Instead he turns out to be a manipulative, controlling, and abusive husband and step-father. Both Della and her mother are afraid of speaking up or doing anything because as the aspiring sheriff, what really could they say or do that people would help them with? Eventually Della has had enough and drives away from the chaos leaving her mother behind until she can get herself settled to bring her mom with her. This story takes you through all of the ups and downs of what Della has to go through while learning how to find herself and her happiness including having a warrant out for her arrest when she was defending herself from her step-dad. When a wrench is thrown into the mix and the cops show up looking for her, she learns who really is there for her and who she can trust and rely on. The ending is gut wrenching and action packed but left me with a sense of one door closing and another opening as I now get to jump into Callie’s story.
Okay book besties buckle up and download this book. Alyssa Ray Bouman has done it. She has written a book that I had to devour in one sitting. She has knocked my metaphorical socks off.
Now on to the actual review I have for yall: BUY. THE. BOOK!!!
I’m telling you, you will laugh, cry, rage and feel all kinds of ways during this tale but one thing you won’t feel is disappointment.
Between an amazing sibling bond and a tale of love and finding your self worth when you feel your lowest, this book has it all.
Twins Caiden and Callie remind me of my close relationship with my older sister (but we aren’t twins) and is honestly a breath of fresh air from so many sibling rivalry tropes I’ve read. I also like that while Caiden and Della were drawn to each other it’s not a OMG I LOVE YOU type scenario after one day. Callie deserves the world. She’s an amazing friend, sister, person and anyone who says otherwise is just plain WRONG. I’m just gonna say what everyone’s thinking when they read this story SCREW MACK! That’s the only acknowledgment he’s getting here.
All in all, Alyssa does a very good job exploring what it’s like to experience DV and Abuse. It’s not always easy to leave. You can’t always run from your past.
READ THE BOOK. BUY THE BOOK. PRAISE THE BOOK. 10/10 recommend. If you don’t take a chance on it, you’re the one missing out.
P.S. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

After losing her dad in a car accident, and now experiencing the self-destructive trauma of an abusive step-dad, Della decides to run. She lands herself in a town that takes her in with open arms, and meets a boy who will do anything to show her that’s she’s worthy despite her experiences. With her past still following closely behind, Della has to decide whether she wants to keep running, or face everything head on.
I read something other than fantasy / romance, I sure did!!! This book overall was one I enjoyed. The MMC is broody, but has the patience of a saint and is such a softie for the FMC. The story line was predictable, in a -Lifetime movie where you can guess what happens but you watch it and love it anyway- sort of way. While I’m normally not picky on writing since I’m more of a vibe reader, there were certain grammatical things that I felt put a tick in my experience. Overall I enjoyed the book, and am glad I was able to have the opportunity to step out of my usual!
“We’re all a little broken Del. I don’t care how many pieces you think you’re in. I want them all.”
This was a really lovely and inspiring read! Della’s story was an emotional whirlwind, but I truly loved reading along as she found love, safety, and warmth.
Caiden is a dream, too. I mean - a man throwing a pissed off woman over his shoulder like a caveman is truly a chef’s kiss. And need I mention: Drive ! In ! Movie ! Theater ! Date ! … YES
Will She Run is packed full of beautiful imagery, compelling characters that tug at your heartstrings, and a whole bunch of delicious pining! I also can’t wait to see where Callie’s story takes us, so rest assured I’ll be returning to this series ASAP. The found family trope is a huge favourite of mine, and I’m certain this series has that in spades
There were a couple of small elements I didn’t love; I did feel that the relationship between Della and Caid was a little too “insta-love” for my liking, and felt as though there were just a few too many filler chapters. That said, I definitely still recommend Will She Run if you’re looking for a dramatic and hopeful story that’s sure to warm your heart up!
Huge thank you to Love Notes PR for providing me with an ARC of this book! The above opinions are entirely my own.
Will She Run is an emotional rollercoaster that kept me hooked from the start! Adeline “Della” Bennet's journey through the Adirondacks is both haunting and beautiful as she tries to escape her rough past. Alyssa-Ray Bouman’s writing is incredible—she paints such vivid pictures that I could almost feel the biting cold and hear the eerie silence of the woods around her. It really drives home the intensity of Della's history while contrasting it with the fragile peace she’s trying to find.
Della’s relationship with Caiden is so relatable. He’s strong and protective, but Della's walls are super high, and I totally get why she struggles to let someone in. As she confronts the scary truths from her past, the tension ramps up, making it hard to put the book down! I was on the edge of my seat wondering if she could trust anyone or if she’d choose to run again.
Though there were a few slower moments, the emotional stakes kept me invested in Della’s choices. Overall, Will She Run is such a powerful tale about healing and the bravery it takes to face your past. If you love stories that mix romance with serious drama, you definitely need to check this one out!
Wow……this book. It had me in a chokehold and I couldn’t put it down until I finished.
Please check your trigger warnings because this book is really hard hitting about the effects both physically and mentally that abuse has, not just on the person themselves but the people around them.
So hard hitting, emotional in so many ways, eye opening and so utterly heartbreaking.
Della the FMC, wow the shear strength, determination, will to survive and her care for other people was simply incredible. Caiden, the MMC. Such a complex character that shows how people can feel so much at the same time. His love for Della and his sister knows no bounds and he is the type of man any lady would want in their corner. Callie, MMC’s twin. Such a girl’s girl and an incredible soul. Took Della in when she knew she was a little broken and wasn’t ready to tell why and accepted her anyway. Also openly states she would kick her bother’s ass if he hurt her friend! Loved her for that!
Honestly writing this review feels like I’m writing about real people and now characters. This book is definitely going to stay with me for a long time and I will absolutely be buying a physical copy for my book trophy!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ (kinda. You know what they are doing but it is not detailed)
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of She Will Run, and I’m gonna be honest, it took me a minute to get into it after reading straight fantasy and romance books for the last month. But once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down!!
This book follows the story of Adeline “Della” Bennet” and her escape from her abusive step-father. As she runs from her past and the horrors it holds, she finds refuge in her new friends that quickly become her new family. As Della struggles with her trauma, she learns to be free and finds herself again. That is, until her past comes back to haunt her and threatens to take everything away.
This book felt so real. Alyssa-Ray Bouman did an incredible job creating Della’s story, causing me to really feel her fears, pain, and struggles, highlighting what DV relationships are really like and how hard it is to escape them. My only qualm was how long it took for me to really get into the book, as it really is a SLOW burn.
Overall, I thought this book was beautifully written. I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions while reading it, but I was left feeling so happy and fulfilled at the end.
This story is a compelling blend of romantic suspense and emotional drama, set against the hauntingly beautiful backdrop of the Adirondacks. The story follows Adeline “Della” Bennet, a woman fleeing a traumatic past, seeking solace in a remote town. However, her quest for peace is disrupted when she encounters Caiden, a man whose unwavering support challenges her resolve to remain hidden. Della's journey is one of survival and self-discovery. Haunted by the death of her father and the guilt of abandoning her mother to an abusive relationship, she adopts a new identity in hopes of escaping her past. Yet, the shadows of her history follow her, threatening the fragile life she's built. Della is portrayed as a multifaceted character, tormented by her past yet striving for a semblance of normalcy. Her internal conflicts are palpable, making her journey both relatable and poignant. Caiden, on the other hand, emerges as a steadfast presence, offering Della the trust and stability she desperately needs. Their evolving relationship adds depth to the narrative, highlighting the transformative power of love and support. The twists and turns throughout this story had me on the edge of my seat! At every turn of the page, I was waiting for something to happen. Full of suspenseful and incredibly imagery, I felt like I was in each scene. I cannot wait for book 2!
First, thank you Alyssa-Ray Bouman and Love Notes PR for trusting me with this ARC.
First, amazing found family with Caiden, Callie, Parker, Em, and Blake. I loved getting to read how our FMC, Della, gets integrated into this little family that she so desperately needs. Della is such a strong FMC who we see starts her story running away from a horrible home situation. She meets the siblings, Caiden and Callie, and thus we are taken on an amazing adventure of Della finding herself, finding love, and learning to cope with her trauma. I will say, this book is under romantic suspense, and I do believe it is more of an emotional journey and the suspense is a little less. This does not take away from the book at all, I just was expecting a murder mystery or something like that. This book is dealing more with trauma from abuse and how to overcome it, and I love every bit of it. It got a little mushy at some points, but honestly, still an amazing start to hopefully a series. I can't wait to read more about the other relationships and get to dive into this fictional universe more!
Will She Run is an engaging read that kept me hooked from start to finish, but it was longer than I feel it needed to be. The story follows Della navigate a budding romance in the Adirondacks while hiding a secret, which was enjoyable to watch unfold, though at times it felt repetitive. While the main relationship had sweet and heartfelt moments, the middle of the book contained a lot of filler that made the pacing drag.
The writing itself was strong, and Bowman’s storytelling kept me invested enough to read the book in one sitting. However, I found myself wishing that the climax had been more drawn out—after such a slow build, the resolution felt a little too quick. A more developed and intense final act could have made the conclusion more satisfying.
Overall, Will She Run is a solid read with complex characters and a romance that will appeal to fans of slow-burn relationships. While the pacing and length could have been tightened, the story still delivered enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages.
This book had me on quite the emotional roller coaster ride and I was here for every second of it. The story took you to some dark places, so please be mindful and check those TWs!
I laughed, teared up, giggled and just went through all of the emotions. Overall, I thought the story was so heartfelt with some good twists in there. The author definitely knew how to tug on some heart strings and create heart pounding scenes. Not a lot of spice, but just enough (the sexual tension though 🔥🔥🔥)
Watching Della and Caiden’s relationship unfold was just the best 🤍
This might be one of the only books that leaves a cliff hanger I’m not completely mad at 🤣 I know we have more coming our way…but until then I will be freaking out 😭
At first, I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish this. The first few chapters are filled with abuse and grief and are very heavy. However, once Della made her way to the Adirondacks, things became easier. I loved the found family that Della had. Caiden and his sister Callie are fantastic. Caiden's patience with Della is amazing. However, the book does a great job of illustrating how that patience can be taxing when being with someone working through trauma, as well as what it is like for a person suffering from abuse and trauma and the PTSD that lingers. I think the only issue I had was that, at times, I just wanted Della to say what was going on cause it felt dragged on a little. I understood the reasoning, but it still felt like lingering a little. Other than that, I felt it was really well done, and both the romance and suspense were done in equal measure.
