This story has some very interesting characters in it that will go to great lengths to help out Kara Grimes who has been accused of killing her husband. Her new lawyer is very 'sure of himself' that he can help her. He has a private investigator that is anything but normal. Can they find out what happened to Kara's husband? The search takes them to some unsavory places, but more questions come up than answers as they look. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Kara Grimes has been accused of her husband death and Tom Meyers is her defense lawyer. Tom has his private investigator Fiona go to Louisiana to investigate Kara’s husband Devin, who may be connected to a man name Ian Pryor. As Fiona keeps finding out more information on Devin/Ian and a drug ring with some unsavory characters, the plot thickens with lots of twist and turns. After Fiona is attacked Tom comes to see about Fiona and while together Fiona gets kidnapped and now Tom try’s to find her before something bad happens to her. When he reports the incident to the local police they accuse Tom of doing something to Fiona and he made up the fake kidnaping story to cover up what happened to Fiona. There are so many plot, twist and turns at times I was on the edge of my seat trying to see what can go wrong next, along with who is Devin Grimes and why he has all of these aliases. The characters were well developed and and you could feel the emotions of suspense with each character being introduced as I was reading. I love a good mystery and suspense and this book did not disappoint, it was a page-turner for me and I wanted more after the story ended. I highly recommend this book to read and I look forward to reading more books by this author. Cassandra H. I voluntarily received a ARC and this review is of my own honest opinion and thoughts.
When Kara Grimes is accused of murdering her abusive husband, Tom Meyers takes her as a pro bono client hoping to make a household name once he gets Kara acquitted. But can he outwit the cops who are determined to see Kara behind bars?
Tom enlists the help of his PI Fiona Drake to do some digging in Baton Rouge. There, Fiona discovers the deceased has been living a double life and dealing drugs. But when she suddenly gets abducted by some assailants, Tom finds himself in a race against time to protect two women and save his head
Time For Redemption is second in the series There's Always Time for Murder with defense attorney Tom Meyers as the lead character. It is definitely a standalone. The whole time I was reading it I did not realize it was the second in the series.
The story begins with Kara, a psychologically abused wife, finds her husband, Devin, dead one morning. Then police, focus on her as the prime suspect in his murder. Tom meets with Kara after the public defender assigned to her bungles her case. Tom can't decide whether she is either lying or hiding facts after the meeting.
Fiona is a loosely named investigator for Tom. She has an uncanny ability showing up out of the blue at Tom's office unannounced when Tom requires her assistance. Her ability to find details are suspect, but her results are right on target.
Tom and Fiona will follow leads from Houston to Louisiana, putting their lives in danger, to clear Kara. But Kara is still holding back a secret that as well as planning on leaving if they don't come through for her.
This is an exciting book with many interesting twists that the reader may not see coming. This book grabs your attention and will not let go until the end.
I received an ARC from BookSirens for an unbiased review.
Time For Redemption is 2nd in the series There's Always Time for Murder but, this is a new case with the main character defense attorney Tom Meyers. It could certainly be read as a standalone. In this case Kara, a psychologically abused wife, finds her husband, Devin, dead one morning. Then police, with little investigation, zero in on her as the prime suspect in his murder. While Tom will represent her, he can't help but think she's either lying or hiding facts. New character, Fiona, is introduced as an unconventional, but effective, investigator. She has a knack for showing up at Tom's office unannounced. Her skills and methods are suspect, but her results, loyalty and tenacity are unquestionable. I hope Fiona will be a recurring character in future stories. She made for pulse pounding reading! Tom and Fiona will follow leads from Houston to Louisianna, barely escaping with their lives, to clear Kara of murder charges. Tom will ultimately have to call upon Special Agent Lincoln Montgomery for assistance. This story was action packed, full of twists and surprises. I enjoyed reading and look forward to the next installment in the series.
Time for Redemption is the first book by Susan C. Muller that I have read. It surprised me that I haven't encountered her novels prior to this one.
It is a very fast-paced thriller mostly set in the Louisiana bayou region. In Houston, TX, Kara Grimes's husband, Devin is dead and she's in jail accused of murder. Tom Meyers, a high-priced defense attorney is bored and decides to take on her case. Along with his PI, Fiona, they find some very interesting things about Devin Grimes. Primarily that he was leading a double life with another family in Louisiana.
The story switches from the viewpoint of Kara, Tom, and Fiona, as well as an FBI agent Lincoln Montgomery. There are dirty cops, illegal drugs, a kidnapping, and some hard hitting action.
I enjoyed this but felt it could have used a little editing.

When Kara Grimes is accused of murdering her husband, she finds herself in jail because of an incompetent lawyer and police officers too eager to arrest her without getting to the bottom of it. Enter attorney Tom Meyers and his investigator Fiona. I liked how the plot was constructed, with the answers slowly coming out, just enough to make us doubt the truth and surprise us. The characters are well developed and interesting. I could see the characters of Tom and Fiona in a TV series. Their energy and relationship would be interesting to see and develop over several episodes or books. An author to discover and a book to read with pleasure. Love this book started reading it on a plane and returned home tired, needing sleep, but sat up reading any way. The next morning fed the dogs and back reading. It is just that good. Three great characters, loved Fiona immediately. Tom had a way of worming himself into the like column and then into a special guy. Lincoln was just an appetizer, Susan has a series starring Lincoln Montgomery called A Time to Run that I can't wait to try. If you haven't read any of Susan Muller's books you should try one. What a good story, it has murder, deceit, drug dealers almost at war, very difficult relationships, and a great friendship between a lawyer and his investigator. It also tells us about the difficulties that someone who has lived in foster care finds to enter society and its normal relations, as lack of trust is something that has been paramount in such a life. Touching and very entertaining. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Devin is dead when his wife awakens, and the police accuse her of killing him before they even know how he died. Tom, attorney par excellence, and his investigator stumble into a web of deceit and illegal activities while trying to clear the wife’s name. This mystery pulled me in and held me in its grip to the end. It is well-written and edited. I can’t rave about it enough.
Interesting array of characters Kara being accused of murder Realizing her husband, had another name Tom as her lawyer was intrigued by Kara Fiona does the leg work when Tom needs it A road trip led her to find a post office box People uncomfortable by her questions Fiona was great in her role, well done Good interesting plot to the end
I loved the character of Fiona. She reminded me of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She was independent and spunky and smart with technological research skills. I probably enjoyed the book mostly because of her. Occasionally the use of pronouns confused me and at one time the wrong name was used. Nevertheless, the entire book held my attention.
I read the first book in the series a few weeks ago and loved it. Sometimes Book 2 disappoints, and I am happy to say this one did not! I love the quirky female characters who are strong yet vulnerable. This plot grabbed my attention and didn't let go until the last page. I can not WAIT for Book 3.
An exciting story with great character relationships. Each character has their own secrets but the secrets don't distract the focus of the story. The narrative kept your interest through to end. I look forward to other books by Susan Muller.
I really enjoyed the characters, the enigmas, and the action. There are interesting relations between characters, strong ones. And a failed K-9 dog that does it’s job quite well. Sort of. Will read the next one for sure.
I fully enjoyed this book. The characters are great and the story flowed along. The soft humor expressed by the analogies made me smile. I wondered, until the very, very end, whether the wife would get away with it. Excellent editing, also.
Thoroughly enjoyed your wee book. Great introduction to your characters who provide the suspense and surprises. This was my first of yours Susan and I look forward to another.
The lawyer and his investigator are interesting characters, written without too many cliches. And the story line is just hidden enough to keep your interest. This is a likeable book.
Yes this is a pretty good read. It has a decent plot, with characters written with entertainment and value and depth. All very interesting and clean to boot. Most entertaining
This was a fun book to read. The characters were well developed and likable. The story of a woman accused of murdering her husband takes a curious turn when we learn of a double past in his story. The blood is well written and I will look for further books by this author.
I really enjoyed walking every page of this book. The characters are very believable is each part they had. Have already recommended it to my daughter. Thanks for writing goof, hard to put down book.
Lots to keep your interest in this book. Main characters very likable. Enjoyed reading this story and the connection between the atty and his investigator.
Enjoyed this read. A murder mystery with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Good character and scenery descriptions to make you feel as though you’re there.
