THE MAKER'S COUNCIL AND THEIR ULTIMATE WEAPON! Colossus, Omega Red and Magik put the Ultimate Wolverine to the test by seeing how well he handles the OPPOSITION, a group fighting for mutant liberation!
I’m sure to Piotr Rasputin (Colossus), brutality that he can leash is beautiful. The Winter Soldier is bloody and mindless and violent. As long as he remains under the heel of the Eurasian Republic, they will cultivate his animalistic ferocity.
“The Leaders believe this is a formidable task— one that will test Winter Soldier’s keen skills in battle against the Eurasian Republic’s most fearsome—and fearless—soldiers. However, they do not know what I do… These soldiers are dead before their feet ever touch the ground.”
I’m sorry but while I enjoy a good Wolvy Slash em n trash em, this issue was really filler in a much larger story. If I’m being honest, my hot take is Marvel is still holding its barring on “write it like it’s a readers first time” technique a little too much. I get it The Ultimates is an all-new sandbox quietly competing with DC’s new Absolute-verse, but come on. Older readers like me know what Wolverine can do and it’s not really important to have winter wolvy prove his loyalty. It seemed like another setup. I feel like at this point Marvel should try long form instead of single issues. It just didn’t hit for me on this issue.
Continues pretty much where issue 1 left off. It’s an exposition issue and does that fairly well. It has about 1 memorable scene but great dialogue and it fleshes out the ensemble really well!
The art is just immaculate. Jaw dropping. I’m stunned
while a good read, the truth is it reminded me a bit of what ultimate black panther has been doing. spread out filler rather than a whole compact story in a single issue.
In order to put some of their suspicions to rest the evil leaders of the republic confront Logan and send him out on a mission against some of the country’s best soldiers. Feel bad for the soldiers.
Once again the art remains chefs kiss and you really want to see Colossus and Magik get their just desserts.
This was a pretty weak issue. We learn nothing new about Wolverine's status quo other than Dr. Prostovich likely defecting to help Logan break his conditioning since his memories are still intact somewhere in his subconscious. Then he kills some goons after being humiliated by Colossus, which didn't really spark any emotions in me.
Enjoyed this issue more than the first. I loved the evil leader Colossus. The practice run they ran for the winter soldier was really cool, especially those last few pages. Wolverine is truly brutal in this series!
The Maker shows up in a flashback and he is just so scary. The story is still developing and I just love how grim it feels and seeing how Wolverine acts is just… I LOVE IT. The panel where wolverine has all the heads of the soldiers in his claws was so raw.
In my opinion, this is a well done issue 2. More story and lore to add to the action and reveal of the first issue. The last few pages were absolutely fantastic and the art on them was stunning. So fair, this has been my series of the year that I just keep looking forward to the next issue.
Pretty, pretty good! There was no Ultimate Wolverine title during the original Ultimate X-Men run, but this series makes up for it. I like that the 616 mythos of Wolverine has been turned "around" for this series. I'm looking forward as to where this title goes.
This series rips!!! It has a much different tone than the others and it works great. Excited to see how the rift between the doctor and the leaders widens. I love the art too.
This wasn’t as strong as the first issue. It was definitely saved by Cappuccio’s art, which is just breathtaking. He puts so much into dialogue-less panels and pages.
