Driven by a need for vengeance, Lexi must find and punish the cult leader Rahab for murdering her sister.
Lexi and Carey just tried to exist in a world without electricity, but caught by the dangerous cult lead by Rahab, the sisters were treated to a life of brutal rape and torture. Watching the death of her sister broke Lexi in many ways, but set her on a path of violence, learning the lessons she needed to accomplish her goal - the total destruction of Rahab's cult.
This wonderful storyline about survival in a post-EMP world, teaches a few lessons for survival in such a world, but mostly shows the bravery and single-minded purpose of a victim freed of her shackles and bound on the path of vengeance. She will survive, but can she forgive? Read and discover the truths. Read and learn. Read and enjoy. READ!
Everyone tries to write a story about the apocalypse that is different than all the others well this author managed to do that. I love vigilante stories because it seems the bad guys get away with too much in our society and I like that there is a way to find justice at least in a book. I loved this story!
I decided not to finish book after about 13 percent. Did not care for the language or the vulgarity. Loved the Seven Days book by this same author. I am no prude, but you can tell a great story without all that and it seemed to come in a fast wave, which turned me off. Sorry!
This was the worst book of the year! I thought for sure it was going to end with someone waking from a nightmare. It was bloody, no respect for women and painted men as nothing but rape filled animals! If you like gore you will love thebook.
This book starts as a backstory to the life of Lexi (introduced in The New World series: Book #2) and it opened my eyes to a character that seemed a bit of a mystery. So many critical situations and tragedy that I hadn't even imagined! Before the Event, Lexi was a completely different person than the one introduced in The New World series. Her relationship with her sister and others, her way of thinking in extreme situations, even her way of dressing was so different! This was a thrilling book with very specific and clear changes that emerged due to Lexi's life experiences. Mr. Hopf has created the beginning of a fascinating new trilogy and I can't wait for more!
I could've sworn Lexi died in the other books. I seem to remember the guys finding the woman tied to the tree shot in a car. I'll have to go back and check the other book.
I read this not expecting it to be all that good, I figured it'd be just like the other books. Anyways it was pretty good, kept me entertained for a couple hrs.

I think this book deserves a 4 star on its own merits. Unfortunately, for me, it was a bit too realistic and full of violence w/o any positives to take the negativity down for me.
I was in the mood for an apocalyptic pulse pounding story and chose Inception since it looked like a story full of action and excitement, but after listening to this audiobook for 40 minutes, I realised it wasn't for me. Instead of being right in the heart of events as they unfold, we sort of see events in hindsight through the protagonist's memories and retellings in little bits. It just wasn't for me. I haven't read enough to rate the book, so I'll leave it as DNF.
