Trapped in a soul-crushing job, Dayne dreams of escaping reality through his writing. But dependency and self-loathing grip him, and the demons in his head cast oily shadows that obscure any way out.

Finding refuge in the Ambler Haven, a shelter run by the enigmatic Votaries of San Accia, Silas clings to anonymity, fearing the consequences of commitment. But the group's seductive promises hide a sinister truth, threatening to ensnare him in dangers yet unknown.

In Somni | The Tenets of San Accia, these damaged souls find themselves drawn to the promise of a second chance offered by the Votaries of San Accia. But as the past catches up and the group's true nature is revealed, they must confront the ultimate cost of redemption.

This took like 2 months to get through a few chapters. I don't think it's the book though. The writing was pretty good and I actually really enjoyed the depictions of the main characters with their thoughts, planning, and creating.

It felt like there was a true understanding on a certain kind of person. I definitely felt a connection.

No, the book is fine. It's just slow. I just couldn't get myself to sit down with it and to want to keep going. (I also accidentally spoiled myself for something with the characters but that's my bad.) I just feel tired and like I'm dragging myself through this. And I don't think it deserves that.

So, it's a me thing. Sorry.

My rating of 3 stars translates into "some good, some bad". and that's exactly how I would describe 'the tenets of San Accia'. the book starts with lush descriptions of the characters that really pulled me into the story, that's the "some good". then somewhere along the way things got a little weird. the characters started changing names and locations and I wasn't 100% sure how or why those changes were happening.
