Yoga of Meditation Series - Volume 1: The Spiritual Quest
It is our pleasant privilege to continue with the publications of Revered Swami Bhajananandaji’s editorials in book form. The writings comprising the present book were published in the Advaita Ashrama’s journal Prabuddha Bharata during the years 1979-1982.
These writings have been classified and grouped together by the author himself under an overarching title ‘Yoga of Meditation’. The present book is the first volume in this series of ‘Yoga of Meditation’ and further volumes in the series will follow soon. The present volume includes eleven articles having a bearing upon and covering a wide range of themes in the serious ‘spiritual quest’ for higher illumination.
Although well-known, it bears repetition that Revered Swami Bhajananandaji’s writings carry the stamp of his own conviction and realization which render them an authentic and a valuable guide for sincere and struggling spiritual aspirants.

In The Spiritual Quest, Swami Bhajanananda offers a profound, Vedantic recalibration of how we perceive human effort, struggle, and fulfillment. Moving away from the modern delusion that joy is a product of external accumulation—be it wealth, social status, or professional titles—the text establishes that true happiness is entirely a function of our state of consciousness. It is an insightful guide for any sincere seeker looking to outgrow life's repetitive conflicts rather than just managing them.
It acts as a mirror for the modern professional and spiritual aspirant alike. It serves as a stark reminder that holding firm convictions, practicing self-surrender, and cultivating inner psychological safety are the only ways to secure lasting peace of mind. For those looking to transition from a life of frantic, outward striving to one of deep, anchored self-awareness, Swami Bhajanananda’s insights provide an invaluable roadmap.
