In the highly anticipated follow up to the award-winning Glory Be, Glory Broussard finds herself enmeshed in the mystery of her ex-husband's death . . . with an unlikely ally at her side.
After her life was turned upside down by solving the murder of her best friend, Sister Amity Gay, all Glory Brousard wanted was a little peace and quiet. That included getting back to her Sunday morning routine as a bookie in a coffee shop, and planning the annual Mardi Gras gala for her church. But there’s no rest for Glory once the woman who broke up her marriage walks in to CC's Coffee House and asks for help finding her missing husband. It doesn’t take long before Glory finds him . . . with a knife impaled in his chest.
No one knew the man—and his dark side—better than Glory Broussard, who would rather let the local authorities take the lead. But Glory’s daughter, still reeling from problems of her own, insists on her involvement. Glory’s search for the murderer takes her deep inside the seedy world of Louisiana casinos and racetracks, from their high roller VIP rooms with chatty dealers to stables filled with thoroughbred horses and shady dealings.
As if solving a murder and sparring with the woman who had an affair with her ex-husband isn’t enough, Glory has to get to the bottom of her daughter’s secrets, and there are a few members of her church group who would love to see her fail in her Mardi Gras responsibilities. Walloped with one revelation after another, Glory’s no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is attitude and strength is tested like never before. But it’s going to take more than that to keep her down in this charming and gripping new novel in the award-winning and critically acclaimed Glory Broussard mystery series.

I have visited New Orleans a few times .. before and after Katrina . The best word for my experience is overwhelmed .. by its luscious self display, and guts .. From traditional beignets and balconies, through warm and demanding street jazz and gospel. coming through the thick air of usually cheerful booze .. to determined survival. Within a couple years of Katrina, Zydeco music and Mardi Gras colors once again wash over visitors .. foreigners but appreciative, like my white northern self .. I read 'Glory Daze' first book wanting the visit from home, and got so much more . This second is even better than the first .. I was able to follow what I now know as developing foundational pieces to another level of what I hope is many more. Fun and deepening characterization, bright colorful language and situations.
I have been waiting for this one! The sequel to Glory Be, a Glory Broussard Mystery, did not disappoint! Narration was again PERFECTION and brings so much (more) life to these unforgettable, flawed, lovable, laugh out loud hilarious characters amidst their daily lives in Louisiana finding bodies and solving crimes! This one seamlessly blended the existing characters & a host of new characters right along with the quintessential quirks, mannerisms and lifestyles Louisiana is known for: cuisine, southern hospitality, red hat societies, eclectic personalities, lore & charm. 4.75 stars for sure! LOVED it and already looking forward to the next one please!! 🙏🏻❤️ We all need more Glory!! (Audio)
I had never heard of this book before, but was browsing in the library picked it up and thought I’d give it a try. I did not read the first one, but you do not need to for this. Glory’s ex husband is found murdered and she tries to figure out who did it. This book is a mystery with some secrets to uncover.
Enjoyed this second book in the series. Less set up allows for more story. This one was interesting with bisexual relationships, gambling, mixed families and community. There are a lot of people in this story so it was hard to keep track sometimes. Centered around Glory’s ex and his relationships and Marde Gras.
Glory! Glory! Glory! I absolutely know we all know a Glory B! She is a typical church woman, they don’t want to know, they “got,” to know! Sit back and relax, laugh out loud and talk back; as you enter small town Louisiana and enjoy as the case unfolds. As, acceptance, change and letting go, shows up like death, unexpected! Enjoy! 🫶🏾📚
I loved this book more than the first and cannot wait for next. The characters are great, no one is perfect. The writing is so that I can see, feel and taste Louisiana…good and bad. Enjoyed all the twists and turns.
Like many series, I think the second book is better than the first. It was an interesting story line with he introduction of some good new characters. Fun story with attitude that is a quick easy listen.
