"What I love about the writing in this novel is that it really evokes your emotions. I loved crying a little, smiling a little and even getting a little frustrated at the characters." (Creativity and Crazy Blogspot)

"Every character is unique and realistic, creating an environment a reader can get lost in, from page one to the very end." (Chick Lit Central)

As a nurse and single mom, Darla Battle hides her loneliness behind a smile. But when she discovers that the new cute doctor everyone is talking about is her daughter’s father, she knows she needs to keep her distance from the man who abandoned her and their child, Stella.

When Theo Edwards returns to Nashville to finish his medical training, he never expects to run into Darla, a girl he spent one night with seven years ago. For reasons he can’t fathom, her attitude toward him is frosty, but he still hopes to ignite the spark they once felt.

Once Darla realizes Theo doesn’t know he’s Stella’s father, she has no idea how to tell him the truth. And the longer she waits, the more difficult it becomes. When the situation spins out of control, can the two come together for the sake of their daughter? Or is forgiveness out of reach?

3.5 Stars. There was something that called to me when I read the blurb to this book. I don't know exactly what it was, but I am glad I picked it up.

Darla is a single mom whose baby daddy/love of her life re-enters her life. Her love for her daughter has shaped who she is and the direction her life has taken. She was a well defined character with some pretty awesome friends. While one good conversation with Theo could've avoided a whole lot of drama, it seems she was not quite there.

Theo was definitely not an alpha type. He was quite on the other end of things with an ex-girlfriend pretty much stepping all over him. The ex drama is strong with this one, folks. He was definitely flawed. Theo can be pretty douchey: i.e. The way he breaks up with his ex-girlfriend and how he treats Darla, our heroine, once her secret is out. However, he had moments that redeemed him, for sure, or I wouldn't have liked the story.

There were a few points of frustration for me but I think perhaps the reason I liked the book was because it felt more true to life and its tendency to be messy.

There were some tender moments that really made the story feel different. Details of their intimacy were sparse so it's definitely more on the sweet side of romance than it is the hot side. All in all I enjoyed it despite some things I wasn't a fan of.

Safety: Ex drama galore. No others for h but H's ex kisses him. No rape or abuse. Both were virgins their first time together. H was with someone else after her (the ex that is causing drama).

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Did not expect the twists and turns in this one. Communication or the lack thereof totally decimated Theo and Stella's lives. Secrets always seem to be revealed at the worst time. At times I laughed with Darla and her crazy friends and then a few pages later, cried when Darla and Theo came close to losing everything they loved. Awesome story!

This story is like quicksand, pulling you in without you realizing until you're in so deep that your happiness is tied to the characters'. You will only make it if they do.
Left Hanging is a sweet romance with an emotional grip that won't let go. I really enjoyed how Ms Dorminy used the technical aspects of their jobs (in the medical field) in a deeper way than most without feeling like I was reading a medical textbook. It was just enough to make the setting more vivid.
I laughed and cried with these characters, fell in love and screamed at them. The family connections and friends were all so fantastic I seriously wanted to crawl in the book and give them all a hug!
If you enjoy having your heart ripped apart and put back together, you'll love Left Hanging.

I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of LEFT HANGING, provided by publisher Red Adept Publishing and author Cindy Dorminy. I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet romance!

Seven years after an uncharacteristic one-night-stand in college, Theo and Darla find themselves working at the same hospital in Nashville. Theo is wiggling his way out of a bad relationship and desperately wants to reconnect with Darla. She's hesitant because, unbeknownst to Theo, he has a daughter--Darla's daughter, Stella.

This lovely book was a fun read, and a bit different than a typical contemporary romance. The back and forth between Darla and Theo as they get to know each other, the relationship Darla has with her friends, and Darla's nervousness as she works through her emotions about telling Theo about Stella, all provide layers to the story that you don't often see.

Darla's love for Stella is evident from the beginning, bursting off the page to help the reader understand why she made choices she did. Theo is a bit of a nerd, in the best way, swooning over Darla while dealing with his meddling ex-girlfriend, who doesn't seem to get that it's over between them. This isn't the sexiest of romances, but these characters tugged at my heartstrings as I rooted for them to find their happily ever after.

But besides the cute romance, LEFT HANGING is a story about friends, family, faith and futures. I highly recommend this wonderful read.

I received this book for free to review. All opinions are my own.

So Left Hanging by Cindy Dorminy is a contemporary romance about Darla Battle, a young single mum living in Tennessee. She works as a nurse and before then, had next to no connection with her daughter Stella's father.

I enjoyed the novel. It was very enjoyable and cutesy and imaginative. What I love about the writing in this novel is that it really evokes your emotions. I loved crying a little, smiling a little and even getting a little frustrated at the characters.
Dorminy also doesn't miss out a thing in this novel. I love how she writes in little clues about the personality of the characters because it makes them feel so much more real.

The reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because it wasn't as fast a read as I like. The last 30% was pretty fast, but the first bit was a little boring and repetitive, because it was Darla and Theo watching each other from a distance and Darla worrying whether she would tell him.
Also the mystery aspect I personally didn't feel added much to the story. It didn't interest me.

I would recommend this book if you want a more unique contemporary novel. It would be a great read on holiday.

What a page-turner this book was! I was hooked from the first scene when heroine Darla makes a love connection with an adorable pre-med student named Theo at a frat party. Fast forward seven years to an unexpected meeting between the two at a hospital in Nashville where they both now work. Theo is thrilled to see his college crush again, but Darla is not interested in taking any trips down memory lane with him. She's still harboring a lot of angst and bitterness over the fact that Theo knocked her up and took no responsibility for his daughter. Being a single mom all these years has been rough on Darla, and she resents the hell out of Theo. But is he really the bad guy she thinks he is, or was he just as much a victim of circumstance as she was?

It's a bumpy ride for these two as they get to know each other again and try to right the wrongs of the past. I really liked Darla and Theo and felt for both of them as the story progressed. It did seem as though the fates were conspiring to keep them apart in the past, and the odds were against them in the present as well since there were so many misunderstandings and secrets between them. Of course, I was rooting for them to work through all of their issues because I wanted to see little Stella (the cutest kid ever!) get the family she deserved with both of her parents.

Sidenote: Like Theo, I am a Type 1 diabetic, and it's rare that I see a book character with this illness. I applaud the author for going there and really committing to portraying diabetes and all of its difficulties in a realistic manner. She didn't just use the illness for dramatic purposes; it was part of Theo's everyday life and affected everything he did.

There was a big medical crisis in the back half of the book that I thought was handled really well. The way it played out was very compelling and emotional, and it tied together the threads of family, friendship, and faith that were woven throughout the book. I shed more than a few tears as I read the final chapters and kept thinking about the characters and the story for days after I had finished it.

Left Hanging is a moving and memorable tale that I highly recommend, and I look forward to reading more from Cindy Dorminy whose writing really impressed me.

Darla and Theo are characters that you truly root for. I loved them. And all I wanted was for them to have a happily ever after. Their relationship is tragic and heartbreaking, but at the same time it's beautiful and hopeful. The misunderstandings that occur are so heart wrenching, but when the truths are revealed, it eases that balm. But with these two, their families and friends, they all round out a great group of characters. I especially liked Darla's friends Shelby and Issac. They bring even more humor to the story.

So from the description, you know that Theo's going to find out (this isn't a spoiler, it's common sense) about his daughter. The whole time I was reading, I waited for it. Biting my nails, waiting for the bomb to drop. And man did Cindy Dorminy deliver. I won't give the details, you'll have to read it.

One last thing that I enjoyed is that Darla and Theo are both nerds. But they are such great nerds. Theo has this dorky side to him, where he loves games. I think it's great that Darla enjoys with them as well. In the first chapter, when they meet, it's such a sweet getting to know each other moment. And shows their personalities well.

I would recommend this book hands down. There is one sexual situational scene, but I think you can easily turn the page and continue the story. We were give an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was so not expecting this story, but what a great surprise!!

Theo and Darla’s relationship was messy and complicated. Overall their relationship in college spanned less than 8 hours and their love was pretty instant but the author sold me on it in a way that I didn’t even realize how little time they actually had together.

I hated Theo’s ex with a passion and will never be okay with how easily she was forgiven for everything that she did. That is my biggest problem with this story, mostly for how calm and nice Theo was to her about everything considering the damage that she caused. It made Theo come across as a pushover. Granted, he’s not exactly the alpha hero that we tend to read about, but I loved his soft, caring, romantic personality until it was time for him to get angry and he seemed to reserve that for the misunderstanding with Darla and not for who caused it in the first place.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sweet but a little angsy story who doesn’t mind a hero who isn’t super alpha.

Thank you to Red Adept and author Cindy Dorminy for allowing me the chance to preview an ARC of LEFT HANGING! I love books about life coming full circle, and that's exactly what Cindy delivers with her new release.

When Darla finds out she's working with her daughter's long lost father at a Nashville hospital, she realizes the feelings she had for Theo are not dead and buried. This is a fun, romantic read that delivers all the feels!

Left Hanging, Cindy Dorminy

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, Women's fiction

Sometimes I want a solid, absorbing fantasy read and others something lighter. Yesterday was one of those so this book was what I chose.

It fills that Lighter tag perfectly, being a sweet romance, great characters and a story that feels quite light and fluffy and then...descends into some serious drama, showing another side to al the characters and having some amazing emotion to it.

I really liked the characters, they were a good mix from lovely Darla, hunkalicious Theo, to the wonderful Isaac who brought in some great humour.
Darla's has no immediate family except for sister Diane and daughter Stella, but she's got some fabulous friend's in the few people she let close in her life. she's brought up Stella alone for many years now, thinking Theo didn't want them.
Then he turns up on a working rotation at her hospital....

He's not what she expected, seems to have no idea about Stella and she's puzzled. He's clearly still attracted to her, flirting and acting really pleased to see her. Why doesn't he ask about Stella? His attitude is perplexing.
Theo is gorgeous, inside and out, and is delighted to find his "Juliet" having lost track of her after the fire on the night they met. without even her real name he'd no way to track her. He can't belive he's been given a second chance and isn't going to let her go, but has to tread carefully as she seems scared.

Of course there's a balance to all these "good" characters in Mallory, Darla's roommate from college, Theo's Ex, though that term isn't defined according to Darla!
I love characters like hers ;-) Though she wasn't all nasty, and when she was it was kind of muted...bring on the Bad for me, the Darker the better. This is just kind of soft grey...

There's a thinnish Christian thread running through here, with Theo being a preachers son, and his family all strongly religious, and though that's often a turn off for me in a book it fits here.
Its kept relevant to the story, gives a backbone to Theo's family and the type of people they are so that I understand them, but at no time does the story Preach to the reader - that's what really puts me off, when The Lord is the answer to everything and we just need to have more Faith.
I'm not anti Christian, I'm just one of those who believer in a higher power but is it god as Christians see him or something/someone else? Here the religious side is just perfect for the story-line and works.

Stars: Four, a fun, cute and light romance with some unexpected depth towards the end.

I have previously read Tuned in to You (Review Here) by this author so when Cindy approached me with her next book I was delighted to read and review.

Now I expected a light-hearted sweet young romance which to a certain degree I got but there is so much more depth to this story I was very impressed at the way my emotions were toyed with.

It has such pleasant characters that you can’t help but like them and whichever way you view it one or the other is always pulling at your heartstrings.

Darla and Theo attend a frat party .. they connect on every level but never find out each others’ name .. for that night of passion they are Romeo and Juliet. Then the unthinkable happens a situation forces them apart and ‘that’ night becomes a vision of perfection for them both.

Meanwhile Darla is a nurse and finds herself a single mom to the cutest girl called Stella. After trying to make contact with ‘Romeo’ to tell him he is a daddy she doesn’t bump into him again until seven years later.

Along with Darla’s best friends Shelby and Isaac who provide humour and love there is Mallory an ex-roomie who just happens to be in a relationship with ‘Romeo’. So there is plenty of opportunity for some tense moments!

Darla only has a sister so her focus has solely been on Stella. Theo has a large close-knit family who have deep faith, his father is a preacher.

So when Darla realises that Theo is one of the new doctor intakes at her hospital the drama really begins. Will he ever find out he has a daughter, will she manage to tell him the truth? I won’t give any spoilers but this book had my nerves in shreds at times, the subject matter and the writing style is totally absorbing.

From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed this, Stella is so precious she has to be the star of the story but the balance between them all was just right. It’s one of those books that by the end you are looking around to see if there is another chapter or more just so you can continue in their world and so it doesn’t end!

Thanks to Cindy and Red Adept Publishing for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. I will be looking forward to see what comes next from Cindy.

LEFT HANGING is the perfect mix of humor, drama, and sexy. A fun, well-paced read that keeps you turning pages to the very end!

Darla is quirky and shy and strong and loving and every other adjective you can think of to describe a badass single mom taking on the world. Her love for her daughter is on every page, Darla's every motivation, and her fierce overprotective nature is the catalyst for the main rift between her and Theo, the sexy, green-eyed Doc who shows back up in her life after seven years of no contact.

The attraction between these two leaps off the page--as does the love they obviously feel. It's funny and heartwarming and frustrating in the best possible way watching this should-be-couple volley and serve throughout the course of the novel, and it's perfectly rewarding when things work out in the end.

Filled with humor and love and heart-tugging drama, LEFT HANGING is a must for fans of Happily Ever After romances!

left hanging is a little different then what I'm used to and I seriously enjoyed it. Darla and Theo shared a night before college graduation. Romeo and Juliet lost track of each other and now 7 years later are brought face to face again. Darla has a secret though.... that night gave her the one thing she will never regret... Stella.

Theo is a likable character and darla is a strong woman who made the best of her situation. Together they make a cute couple, but I liked the end. It brought the book to a happy ending. I recommend reading it if you want to sigh at some seriously sweet moments.

Frankly its not my first time reading a book with story plot. As a wattpad reader, you'll find a number of book just like this though what makes the difference is the writing.

I liked how author conveyed the plot in a different way. The ending was nerve-wrecking. I didn't expected that. Being a medical student myself, I was pleased with the choice of author and how she described medical terms and conditions-- not the other way round.

Its a good novel for someone with contemporary love and would love to read this book.

A different kind of romance, Left Hanging keeps the reader entwined eager to find out what will happen. From the first introduction to the characters, to fast forward seven years when so much can happen to any persons life. This is a story of hidden secrets, and the unaccountable attraction that still remains years later. As the story alternates between each persons stories, you get a sense of conflicting emotions, their lives, the complications. It is a story many of us can relate to, and of taking risks. A lovely read I do recommend.

This book was an incredibly creative and beautiful take on a second chance love story. It was well-written, and had great main characters. Darla and Theo have a complicated history, and while they originally fell in love at first sight, the author takes time to develop their romance the second time around. I really enjoyed this gem, and would easily recommend it to contemporary romance fans.

I thought a preachers son would be somewhat chaste but no he slept with and lived with her slutty ex roommate. She sabotaged his emails and stole him 7 years ago. I hated her and she ruined the book. And him for staying with her seven freaking years. Just.gross. I don't want to even.finish it now but I can't dnr A book. Just ruined the whole story. Liked little Stella. He also kisses the ex after he saw heroine again

Okay she, the evil one, didn't sabotage the emails. But she did plenty. And I still don't get why.he stayed with the evil one for 7 years. Nothing made sense. I just didn't like him and I never warmed up to him. He's a jerk. And,when he found out his supposed Christian behavior eluded him. Just not for me. I read it and I will read this author again. Writing was fine I just didn't like her hero. So sick of non celibate heroes!

I enjoyed Left Hanging by new to me author Cindy Dorminy. This book is well-written, the characters are engaging, and the emotional details are perfectly aligned with the plot. I was a little surprised by the religious element, since nothing was mentioned in the book blurb.

Darla Battle is doing a wonderful job raising Stella, her six-year-old bundle of joy. Her work as a nurse is fulfilling, however, making ends meet is a struggle at times. After six years of no communication, Darla runs into Stella's father, Theo Edwards. Stella is the result of a passionate night of love, which both Darla and Theo live over and over again in their hearts. Theo is now a resident at the same hospital which employs Darla. Theo seems to know nothing about Stella, even though he responded to one of Darla's emails about the pregnancy way back when. Although being a single mom is difficult, Darla has two good friends that she can lean on. In addition, her unconditional love for Stella supersedes any hardships.

Theo loves being a doctor and hopes to one day be a part of Doctors Without Borders. Not only is he nice-looking, he is a very good man, thanks to his amazing and warm parents. Because Theo has diabetes, he has to take very good care of health, which is sometimes difficult when working long shifts in the ER. An almost tragic incident is what ends Darla's overwhelming apprehension about telling Theo about Stella.

I enjoyed this emotional novel and Ms. Dorminy's uncomplicated method of storytelling. Darla and Theo are wonderful together and I loved the way the author developed them both as individuals and as a couple. Darla's friend Issac is a real trip, and his genuineness about life is refreshing. There is a very funny Overall, this is a heartfelt book with some twists and turns that kept me glued to my seat from beginning to end.

Darla and Theo’s story had me hooked right from the beginning, primarily because Cindy Dorminy has created characters that are easy to invest in. When the two meet, spending one unforgettable night together, I wanted to know what that experience would do to them, and for them. And it felt like a very relatable situation. Many of us have thrown caution to the wind, done a few things that go against our character, much like Darla and Theo had done.

There was the perfect mix of tension and suspense while Darla tries to figure out how to deal with Theo. She knows she needs to tell him about Stella, but she can never find the right time to do it. While she’s waiting, she spends time with him, rediscovering what made her feel so attracted to him, wanting to steer clear of him, too. Theo has always felt as though Darla had been the one who got away, literally, and will do anything it takes to get her to fall for him again.

A gigantic catastrophe brings the two together in the most inopportune way, forcing Theo to face up to his responsibilities, and Darla to let go of the reigns a little bit. It’s a huge turning point for both characters. Can they set it all aside for the love of their daughter? Will this completely destroy any chance they have at picking up where they left off seven years ago?

**Potential spoilers, but nothing major**

I appreciated all the little nuances in Left Hanging, like the idea for Stella’s name (she was named after her paternal Grandmother, something Theo doesn’t connect the dots to until much later), to the dyslexia Darla’s best friend has, revealed in an interesting way as the story progresses. Every character is unique and realistic, creating an environment a reader can get lost in, from page one to the very end.

> > Judging a Book by it's Cover < <
Cute Cover. Cute synopsis.

> > Looking Deeper < <
POV ~> Alternating first-person.

At the last frat party of their senior year, two star-crossed lovers finally meet and a child is conceived. A series of miscommunications occur and Juliet (aka Darla) is left to single-handedly raise Stella for nearly seven years. Romeo (aka Theo) returns home and bumps into the girl that got away, the one he fell in love with at first sight.

The concept and premise of this story were strong. The characters were varied and provided an entertaining cast. There was too many missed opportunities and too much miscommunication though, kind of dragging the plot out a little more than necessary.
The situation that caused the interruption at the barbeque was heartfelt and emotional.
The story was dynamic and had its charming moments. I also found myself frustrated with Darla's procrastination, and later, Theo's over-the-top reaction. But the emotions felt deep and tangible in many places, places that truly mattered. There is a sex scene toward the end but it does not get very descriptive.

The conclusion implies a happy ending but was not completely solid. It left a few minor elements out that almost seem to be waiting to play out in another story.

LEFT HANGING was a delightful read. This book brings you face-to-face with Darla, a nurse and single mother, who is shocked to her core when one of the new doctors at her hospital is none other than her baby-daddy and the man she fell in love with in college after just one intense night spent together. Without going into a full-on synopsis of the book, Darla quickly realizes that he has no idea he's a father, even though she had corresponded with who she thought was him shortly after graduation and after she found out she was pregnant. So, she has a huge truth-bomb to tell him.

LEFT HANGING was an easy read that made spending hours turning the pages a delight. I really liked all the characters and just when you got to that point where you couldn't take Darla's secret anymore and you were going to throttle her if she didn't tell him, something happens and surges the plot forward giving the reader that release that they need. I liked that there were a couple spots where I thought I knew what was going to happen but ended up being wrong and the author didn't take the route most predictable. Overall, a great book and a great read. I would recommend to women's fiction fans who like romance, sweat and/or clean romance fans, and even christian fiction fans as this book definitely had a smidgen of that vibe to it.

I requested this book because the blurb caught my attention.

Darla and Theo are soulmates that life dealt a crappy hand. She was the wallflower. He was the geeky kid with diabetes. But what Darla saw was the most amazing man. The got together only to be torn apart by a fire and not exchanging names.

Enter the villian, Darla's roommate Mallory. I have never disliked a characters so much. Trying to keep Theo for herself. Darla is forced to raise her daughter without a father.

7 years later they meet. Darla's confidence is at an all time low when they meet. There's a comedy of errors before she gets to tell Theo. But will it be too late?

The journey is well written with characters that the readers will bond with. Darla, Stella, Isaac, and Shelby are a tightly bonded group. But they all seem to fell the rightness between Darla and Theo. Stella knows almost the moment she meets him.

I couldn't put the book down. There were spots where I wanted it to move faster and the end, I won't lie.... I wanted more.... Maybe an epilogue? But it doesn't stop this from being a great book that will engage the reader.

I seriously loved this book. I don't know if I can give you specifics on what drew me into the story or the characters, but it just clicked with me. Sure it is a storyline you might have read before - girl and boy meet, hook up, lose each other, she has a baby and he finds out 7 years later, he gets mad but they eventually end up together.

But this story was so much more - Theo aka Romeo has a very tightknit and spiritual family. Darla aka Juliet has quite a different family life and had no support from her father in raising her daughter. Thank goodness for dear friends! I don't want to give too much away, but Theo's interest in Darla that night at the frat party was not the first time he had seen her on campus but it was the first time they actually "met".

There were a lot of laugh out loud moments and even some weepy moments (yes I had tears rolling down my face). The story keeps a steady pace and I never felt like the story dragged or that I wanted to put the book down. In fact, I kept trying to find time to read the book because I wanted to know what happened next.

All those wonderful and meddling Edwards' and all their friends, all those people who help and support Theo and especially Darla and - well, I must say that I was so happy when I found that the reason why, was not the obvious one but just one of those things, you know. One of those stupid things that just happen.
As I said there are so many really wonderful characters in this book, I really loved them.

Alright, that doesn't mean that I like Theo's girlfriend, like, at all, but the rest of the people around them, well, I like them, a lot. And Stella - who douldn't love someone like Stella? She is amazing and so sweet and I was so very very upset when things got rough and I might have cried a bit (or more) and I might have turned the pages faster and faster because I just had to know.... You know. Oh, No, you don't know. Well, perhaps you should read this book, then you'll know!

Well written, gripping and sweet and with many many amazing characters - I can definitely recommend this book!

Once Darla realises Theo doesn’t know he’s Stella’s father, she has no idea how to tell him the truth. And the longer she waits, the more difficult it becomes. When the situation spins out of control, can the two come together for the sake of their daughter? Or is forgiveness out of reach?

I loved this book. It made me laugh and cry and left me with a lovely warm feeling and a dopey smile. Can't wait to read more books by this author. 5*

A sweet romantic read drenched in emotion and real-life dilemmas.

Darla is a nurse and single mum, but when one of the hot new doctors everyone is talking about turns out to be the father of her child (who ignored their existence from the moment he found out she was pregnant), things get a little complicated. Especially when he's acting like he wants to reconnect and doesn't seem to know he's a father...

The writing was pacy - of the kind that makes you want to keep reading even when you've heard the story before and know exactly where it's going - and the odd snippets of mystery made it an enjoyable read. For me, while the characters were fun to read about, they felt far less realistic than the situations that they found themselves in. Darla's naivety on multiple occasions left me exasperated, but I read on because of the writing. And the writing is, ultimately, what makes the book.

My second novel by Cindy Dorminy, and I am officially a fan! This book was so romantic and heartbreaking at times, but there was a healthy amount of comedic moments/dialogue to break it up. I absolutely adored Theo's family and the way his siblings interacted with each other. So funny. And this Yankee is always a fan of a Southern setting. Looking forward to reading her next book!

**This review is for the audiobook on Audible.**

Left Hanging by Cindy Dorminy, narrated by Brittney Clause and Bradley Spoon is an amazing story about life - the twists, the turns, the ups, and the downs. It's about family, friends, loss, regret, hope, and taking chances. It's about finding your way through the tangled detour, back to the path you once walked. But, at it's core, Left Hanging is about love and everything that comes with it - feelings, emotions, unpredictability, forgiveness, acceptance, and moving forward. At first I wasn't sure if this was the book for me, being that Romance is not my go-to genre. Unfortunately, hearing the word romance makes me think of graphic love scenes surrounded by a "barely there" storyline. I'm happy to say this audiobook is far from either of those, and I'm now working to fix my poor misconceptions. Upon hearing the first word of this book, I was hooked, and I stayed fully engaged through to the very last. I'll let you read the plot description on your own (as you can tell, I'm a bit long-winded); it's important you know that I am not a mother, myself, yet I still found the storyline relatable to my own, in many ways. The events are real and relevant to life in today's world, and the characters felt like friends I have known for years! I'm so happy to have found Cindy Dorminy! She is a wonderful author, and I definitely plan to check out more of what she has written! Bravo!

This is also my first experiece hearing an audiobook performance from both narrators. While I'm not a huge fan of the romance genre, as mentioned earlier, I am a huge fan of the AudioShelf Podcast by Brittney Clause and Bradley Spoon, narrators of Left Hanging. I absolutely LOVE their show, and being that it's a podcast about audiobooks for audiobook lovers, I couldn't wait to hear them put their own skills to the test! I'm sure it's a lot different being on the other of the fence, as reviewing a performance and actually performing are completely different! It was clear right from the start that they both feel comfortable behind the mic. Their consistency in voice, tone, volume, and pace made for easy listening, and the professional recording and editing allowed me to sit back and enjoy the ride without confusion or interruption. It sounded like the entire book was recorded in one sitting - they stayed in character perfectly from one chapter to the next, and I loved that there were no unnecesary breaks or pauses between chapters, which, unfortunately, is something I hear more of by the day. They brought the characters and storyline to life, and I felt like I was watching the events of a movie unfold before my very eyes. I loved every character - they really did the book justice! Although I'm sure the book is a great read, my overall experience was made better by listening.

Now, the teacher in me believes in keeping a growth mindset and doesn't like to leave without giving some type of constructive feedback. Therefore, if I had to mention areas of improvement, I would say that Brittney/Darla doesn't always have to sound so serious. Even though women do tend to talk at a fast pace and have a million things going through their minds at the same time, taking a breath and talking a little slower will make for an easier transition between chapters and match better with the slower, laid back pace that Bradley/Theo's character had. On that same note, Bradley/Theo could use a little more of a serious tone in spots. There were a few places I felt like he sounded a bit arrogant...almost like a womanizer... because he was so laid back and "nonchalant" in certain scenes (like one when he and Isaac were out together chatting). Either way, these two have chemistry, and I loved it! I'd listen to a million more books just to hear them perform! You are both awesome, and you gave me goosebumps! I hope there are more, many more, performances to come!! Fantastic job, you two!!

Without hesitation, I rate Left Hanging by Cindy Dorminy, narrated by Brittney Clause and Bradley Spoon 5 out 5 stars across the board. The story is well-written, kept me listening almost non-stop, and is completely relatable and real to life today. The outstanding performance brought the story and characters to life in ways that only skilled narrators can do. This dynamic duo of a team is one you don't want to miss! I recommend this audiobook to fans of romance and women's fiction, as well as those who are looking to dip their toes into a book about love, family, relationships, and the twists and turns life throws our way.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

This is a very sneaky audiobook. I was expecting Grey's Anatomy but got more Friends With Benefits with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. It snuck up on me from the first chapter and won't let go. It is one part funny, one part loveable and a whole lot of parts sassy. The characters are so likeable that you find yourself tisking, hooting and hollering at them when they just are being stubborn. Being a diabetic myself I think Dr Theo was just a little too relatable, besides the Doctor part of course. You can't help but love that girl next door vibe that Darla gives off and the writing about little Stella is great. The love story is typical but done with some flare. I love how each and every character plays a part in this mess and makes the story most enjoyable. I loved the good and bad parts of the relationship, most of all I liked the fact that this story showed that not all characters are super heroes, but in fact have flaws no matter their thoughts about themselves. I am a sucker for old fashioned games and this audiobook has those sprinkled throughout the entire story. Oh boy, the narration. I love duel narration and this one delivers. It has 2 POV done in a rotating fashion so you get to see things from both sides. both performers did a fantastic job giving the main characters life as well as casting secondary characters making them all distinct. I happened to just love Bradley Spoon's voice for Mallory it had me laughing out loud every time she spoke. Britney Clause does such a sweet and innocent child's voice but if that is not good enough her mom voice and sassy voice is just on point. One thing I liked about Spoon's male voices, I am not sure if this is his own voice or added but the accent Southern Drawl was fantastic. This gave Dr Theo his swagger. Such a great story and the 2 performers gave these characters and my imagination just what it needed. Even their opposite gender voices were done well and kept consistent which can be hard to do. Just a great story and these types of stories are kind of my kryptonite as I love me some romantic comedies. One thing about this book I will have to address is oh my goodness, the ending some loose ends were not tied up. One part of me likes that and can picture the camera panning out with a Shawn Mendes song playing in the background but on the other hand the more curious side of me would love to know everyone’s back/side and future story.
