Okay Im back, - here’s a piece of lyrics by papa roach that comes to mind while reading this book.

This book has somehow crushed my soul, bandaged it, ripped out AGAIN, then put back together. There were soo many pieces that came together with the book.

“I think about how he walked into hel for me and called it heaven just because I was there”
Holy hel.. where do I even begin?! This book is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star for me. Hands down the easiest 5 stars I think I’ve ever given. It had me sobbing, angry, laughing, screaming, gasping! It truly ripped my heart to pieces and put it back together again, but not perfectly, no.. super glued, forced, and jagged. I might still be healing? Haha
This book is the darkest of the dark. It makes the previous books read like fairytales!! Jagged starts right up from where the previous book left us. Dragging micha through absolute hel. This poor woman just never gets a break to her suffering.. and unfortunately everyone suffers here. You’re going to hate Antonio, I mean really hate him… but your soul is going to scream for him and his loss too. The healing process of our characters traumas/guilt/grief is messy and raw. 🥺 Jagged is going to stomp on your heart over and over again, head the triggers warnings!! Dare I say, if you don’t have any you just might come out of jagged with a new one. It was THAT depraved. But I ate it up, because that’s me…. Devourer of all the depraved shit that Miranda gives me. That being said, I can’t wait for the next book… because that ending?! That mother fucker!!

This book is an emotional gauntlet that will push you to your limits. Miranda's storytelling is both brutal and beautiful, with moments that will make you question your morality. The emotions I experienced while reading are hard to put into words. All I can say is it's a true emotional rollercoaster, but one that's well worth the ride. This book puts Micha and Varius through one trial after another, testing their limits and resolve. However, as they demonstrate, even the most fractured and imperfect individuals can rise above the challenges they are put through. As always, it's recommend that you check your triggers before diving into this series/book, which contains content that may be disturbing to some readers.

Rating: 2.5 Stars -Not sure if I can give a 3 Stars but I’m optimistic about the authors progression.
Trigger Warning: This book contains graphic depictions of abuse, trauma, and gore. It explores heavy themes in vivid detail and is not for the faint of heart. It says ‘Soft Edition’ but it certainly is not soft. Proceed with caution.
When I first read the beginning of the series, I wasn’t convinced I’d be back. The darkness was intense, the themes heavy, and the overall tone left me unsure if it was something I could continue with. But after a strong recommendation to read the latest installment, I decided to give it another shot—and I’m genuinely glad I did.
There’s a noticeable shift in the author's growth—both in writing style and character development. The narrative feels tighter, the characters more layered, and there’s clearly been more research and thought put into the emotional and psychological elements of the story. The supernatural romance still holds that dark, gritty edge, but with more purpose and nuance.
That said, while I appreciate the revenge arc and how raw it all felt at times, I do think the recovery and healing process could’ve been explored more deeply. The main character survives unimaginable abuse, and though her pain fuels much of the story, I was hoping for more than just vengeance. Revenge was fun—for a while—but I needed to see more transformation, more reflection, and ultimately more depth in how she processed her trauma.
Still, it’s a major improvement from the earlier books and I do strongly advise to only read this book if you are ready to explore what hell looks like.

The way Miranda dives into the mind and feelings of Micah in this book is truly amazing. Capturing the swirling emotions and thoughts she has around her abuse during and even afterwards is truly so fucking real and relatable. 😭
As a whole, this book broke my heart. But I felt myself healing alongside Micah and Varius. It's traumatic, infuriating, heartbreaking, inspiring and will make you feel all the emotions. 🖤
P.S some scenes were absolutely DISGUSTING. 🤢

Couldn’t stomach it!
I made it to 30% and couldn’t go any further.
I didn’t think I had a limit but the way this made me feel inside I couldn’t stomach anymore. The writing is really well done and errr creative haha but nope not for me!

"No notes, just crying."is what I DM'd to the author at the halfway mark of this book.
I couldn't have asked for a better ending to Micha's and Varius' story (the first being Tethered Souls and the second Broken Souls).
This was a tough read, so much more than the previous books in this series. It felt hopeless at times, and I won't lie: what pulled me through was knowing that the author had promised that Micha would get her happy end. Everyone suffers in this book. Everyone. Now, I can hear you thinking:"Noriboo, then why are you reading this book?" Because Miranda is an incredibly talented author. She doesn't write gruelling scenes just because. Within the rape and torture scenes, the focus is more on the emotions of the victim: the fear, the denial of what is happening. The fight, flight, and freeze response. The shame and the choices a person is forced to make as they're trying to survive. While what's described is gruesome, it's unfortunately also something that's the lived experience of far too many people. I want to commend the author for having consulted therapists about how best to structure the depicted conversations surrounding the topic of healing after prolonged sexual trauma.
Through all the pain within this book, there was, at times, humour. One of my notes read:"How dare you make me laugh in the middle of these horrors, Miranda!".
I was happy for that, as it gave some levity and reprieve to know that my beloved characters were still able to find silver linings.
Varius has grown tremendously from where he stood in Tethered Souls. He has grown on an emotional level as a person, as a husband, and as head of the family. Micha, oh my dear Micha. I wept for her. For them.
Without a doubt, the bonds of the members of the Shadow family are what makes this series so amazing. They are the light in the darkness.

Okay... Phew. Alright, where do I begin? Lol.
I knew this book was going to be heavy, (aka make Madness look like cotton candy) but I don't think I was prepared for the true depth to it all. Based off what we knew was going to happen from the ending of the last book, the rape and torture was expected. I, however, didn't expect to feel such a complex range of emotions the entire time. I suppose I should have expected it though knowing how talented Miranda's works are lol.
I wasn't planning on posting anything with spoilers, but at this point I guess it's kinda hard not to. The scene with Varius and Krypto hit me so hard in how beautifully the parallels were written. Micha begging for death while others are pleading to keep Krypto alive for their own personal reasons. Ugh, pure poetry *chef kiss* That climax? Oh man, I was throwing myself off the bed lmao. I've never read a climax done so well that shocked and thrilled me.
"I'm sorry for how brutal it's about to get. But the hardest part of trauma is facing ourselves after." I can't tell you how that hit me like a brick for a multitude of reasons. I can also tell you though that I have nothing but the utmost respect for Miranda for dragging us through the trenches in ALL aspects of the trauma. It's one of my biggest pet peeves in darker romance where we see a character go through relentless tragedy, only to magically be whole again by the power of love. Trauma is messy. Love can be messy. Trauma and love at the same time is a hurricane. It was all written so beautifully though in a realistic way that made me ugly cry.
Okay, now that the praise is out of the way.... RUDY??? RUDY, MIRANDA!? 😭😭 A while back I told her that I would never forgive her if she took Rudy lol. While I'm absolutely devastated (putting it mildly), it was also done so well that I could even appreciate the writing on that. Ugh, damn you Miranda for making me sob and appreciate the pain at the same time 🤣

After reading Broken Souls I could not wait to get my hands on this book.
Once I started I was sucked once again into the complex and intriguing world Ms. Grant created.
My heart broke over and over again. My soul crushed over and over again.
I was on the edge of my seat literally throughout the whole book.
Very emotional and very dark. I was put through the wringer of emotions and feelings.
The twist and turns were absolutely stunning! I loved how unpredictable the story was.
Misha is THE most toughest and the most badass female character I’ve ever read!
And I’ve read thousands of books.
She is simply incredible in spirit, mind and body. Her strength and determination are unparalleled.
Varius is a man in love. And he will stop at nothing and do everything to get his wife back.
The decisions and actions he needs to take would break the strongest of men.
He basically has the weight of the world on his shoulders. And he carries that burden to the best of his abilities.
I was devastated for Misha and Varius. For every single thing they were put through.
And while I absolutely loathed Antonio. My heart also broke for him.
When an author has me hating the villain but still having some sympathy and empathy for him.
Well that to me just showcases how truly talented the author is. And Ms. Grant is phenomenal!
I loved the whole trilogy. Jagged Souls is the darkest of the three.
I rank it in the top three most darkest books I’ve read.
The unique world and the unique creatures and characters Ms. Grant created is so freaking outstanding. The details and descriptions given are so vivid and the words come to life.
I could see in my minds eye what I was reading. It was like watching a movie.
This book and trilogy is not for the faint of heart.
If you love your stories on the extreme and dark side then this trilogy is right up your alley.

I haven’t finished it yet but I came here to say - 5 stars for the tapeworm. I don’t care how the rest of the book goes, that shit was amazing.
Edit- I have now finished and wheewwwww this book. When I wrote the above review I thought our girl was actually saved buutttt NOPE another 700 pages of utter misery awaited. I can’t lie, this was hard to read, and it (in my opinion) really showed well the feelings SA victims have. Especially ones that go through such an extent. If people review this and say it’s too much, I disagree. This shit happens in society, we just never find out because professionals keep it hidden. It was extremely graphic, it really did disgust me- and that is what makes it good. Not because I enjoyed it, I had to look away from the page as I felt sick to my stomach many times, but because it really conveys how it feels. Anyway I called the ending by a mile away cause I remember the mention a couple od times of a certain coloured head of hair with no explanation.
I also want to side note about the insight we got into Antonio’s past. His devotion to Siome is heartbreaking because it unfortunately turned him into a monster. He would’ve been redeemable if he didn’t turn to grape at every chance he gets when fighting. I read Sau’s story too, and honestly if I saw my mate and kids die the way he did I’d go insane too- just not to the extent he did. What he did to Sau who was 12 in retaliation genuinely makes me sick to my stomach. Like if he just stuck to his shooting and violence fair enough but dude is evil and I wish I never saw his past which made me feel a LITTLE bad for him. Honestly he doesn’t even deserve to be with Siome and his pups.

After I finished this story, I sat with a blank stare thinking “did all that really just happen”? YES, yes it did. I knew this book was going to be dark, but I had no idea it was going to be the blackest obsidian. Every single part of this book had me in a chokehold, and gutted me to my core. I’m not even sure if Miranda put the broken and jagged pieces back together whole.
This book is the darkest in the Book of Shadow Series, and please DO NOT take my warning lightly. Make sure you check the TW’s, because this one is not for the faint of heart. This is NOT your normal dark romance in any way. It is severely gruesome, vile, and down right horrendous. But, I LOVED IT!
We pick up right where we left off, and you’re gonna be sucked into the black hole from the start. Various and Micahs’s started out gray, then were hit with black, and needless to say we ended with the darkest of dark. It was very fitting for their story since there has been nothing but trauma.
Poor Micah can’t win for nothing. This woman has the universe chewing her up like she is nothing but a rag doll. The trauma and abuse she endured devours her to her core. I’m not even sure if I would be able to handle a fraction of what she had to go through. I know I would end up broken and hollow inside.
Various is tormented from the start, his soul aches for his unborn child. Finding Micha is now too priority on his list. His fight is a force of nature, and he will destroy anything and everything to save his wife. This man goes through so much heartache. I can’t really get into it, since I don’t want to spoil his story.
Let’s jump into Antonio for a moment. This man has never been a favorite of mine. He is evil and so messed up in the head. But, yet I feel for him in this book. We see a different side of him, and for his love of Simone. You begin to sympathize with him, but then you think “Nope, not happening, I still loathe you”. No matter what he’s been through, I just can’t get over what he has done.
All in all, it has taken me a minute to figure out how to even put my emotions into a review.
To Miranda: I can’t even fathom how you’re able to write and get through this book. I know their story had to haunt you. But, THANK YOU for giving us such wonderful characters, and diving into some of the darkest research to make sure you had everything correct as possible. Trauma healing for these both couldn’t have been written any better!!!
Now I’m ready for the next book, but please be gentle with our hearts!

We pick up right where we left off, and you’re gonna be sucked into the black hole from the start. Various and Micahs’s started out gray, then were hit with black, and needless to say we ended with the darkest of dark. It was very fitting for their story since there has been nothing but trauma.
Poor Micah can’t win for nothing. This woman has the universe chewing her up like she is nothing but a rag doll. The trauma and abuse she endured devours her to her core. I’m not even sure if I would be able to handle a fraction of what she had to go through. I know I would end up broken and hollow inside.
Various is tormented from the start, his soul aches for his unborn child. Finding Micha is now too priority on his list. His fight is a force of nature, and he will destroy anything and everything to save his wife. This man goes through so much heartache. I can’t really get into it, since I don’t want to spoil his story.
Let’s jump into Antonio for a moment. This man has never been a favorite of mine. He is evil and so messed up in the head. But, yet I feel for him in this book. We see a different side of him, and for his love of Simone. You begin to sympathize with him, but then you think “Nope, not happening, I still loathe you”. No matter what he’s been through, I just can’t get over what he has done.
All in all, it has taken me a minute to figure out how to even put my emotions into a review.
To Miranda: I can’t even fathom how you’re able to write and get through this book. I know their story had to haunt you. But, THANK YOU for giving us such wonderful characters, and diving into some of the darkest research to make sure you had everything correct as possible. Trauma healing for these both couldn’t have been written any better!!!
Now I’m ready for the next book, but please be gentle with our hearts!
But, let’s face it…. That’s not gonna happen anytime soon is it?

Whewww where do I even start???? OK, this book was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Like 10/10 no hands down best read of the year. I will start off by saying this is PITCH BLACK, like you're going into the void if you read this so if you have triggers don't pick this up. But if you don't mind dark really dark and taboo RUN! Ok this book is about Misha and Varius and let me tell you Misha goes through hell, the suffering she goes through is horrendous., diabolical hell all the bad words you can think of she went through it. The emotional and physical trauma is graphic and horrendous and a shit ton more but with therapy ( a crap ton) she's able to heal (somewhat). Freaking hate Antonio ( you will LOATHE him) grrrr Ah my poor Varius, he literally made me tear up and thats crazy for me. Khalid is still my number 2 but i swear Maddox is trying to steal his spot lol Sighh I have to reiterate this book is not for the weak, please be very mindful of your triggers cause lord knows there are several but it really was a fantastic read and you will not be disappointed.

I always say, “I don’t have any triggers, give me what you got”. I was wrong, but in a good way. The Book of Shadows series is the first time I have challenged myself to go dark. This series, especially this last book has gone ‘the other side of midnight’ dark. I’ve found myself reading it through my fingers and clinching my cheeks more than once as if I was watching a horror flick. That’s not a bad thing though, that’s just how amazing of a writer Miranda Grant is. To make the reader feel like they are watching a movie that they can’t turn away from takes great skill.
This book continues where the other left off and focuses on Micha and Varius. To say Micha is a strong woman with an unbreakable spirit is an understatement. The horrors she endures are unspeakable and unimaginable but her sheer will and determination actually gives me strength in my own life. After reading this I feel like there’s nothing I can’t handle. This book had me in a chokehold from page one. It starts back up exactly where the last book left off. So if you haven't read the other 2 please go read those.
Micha and Varius dont have it easy at all on this book. When you finally think your going to get a break and things are going to get better, they get so much worse. This book is packed full of Trauma and heartache. I kinda loved being able to read both POV'S and seeing how they feel.
I have had sympathy for Antonio off and on through out this series. But this book totally solidified that he is pure evil. And if Miranda does have a redemption arc coming for him then I can't wait to see how she makes that happen.
Please check the TW'S they aren't a joke. And if you think your going to get an easy HEA you definitely won't. This book is a fight from start to finish for Varius and Micha to get their HEA

This is the third book in Micah and Varius' story and it is heartbreaking, infuriating and vile. This book is not for the weak of heart and you need to read the trigger warnings. It has rape scenes but they are more real, they hit home harder and there is a lot of it. This was trauma healing for me and the book had me in tears almost the entire time.
I know I am going to be one of the few but I feel for all the characters in this book, including Antonio. He would burn the world down for his fallen mate and he does, in excruciating details, but my loyalty is not with the blood fangs and his sins are far beyond what happened to him. He is the best bad guy I have ever seen, the amount of blood and torture he leaves in the wake of his mates death is legendary, he really loves Simone.
You need to read Tethered and Broken before you get to Jagged, this is the last (sadly) in this trilogy. I dont want to go into it too much detail and spoil the book but you will want to take breaks, you will cry, scream and cheer. There is a happy ending and there is trauma healing, if not I would not have been okay. Miranda is an amazing story teller that has built a world my mind wants to be in, I can not express how much her books have helped me and entertained me.
Go into this knowing this book is very triggering, the other two books in there story are nothing compared to this one, Madness has nothing in it compared to this one, no book I have ever read has anything comparably close in it to Jagged and I doubt I will ever find one that can compare to it. This is off the scales on the pitch black rating, so understand you are not reading just a dark romance, horror romance or Pitch black romance. If you read the other two, you will love this one.

Do you like having your heart ripped out, set on fire, and the ashes used to make you bawl? Then this is the book for you. It goes without saying, check the trigger warnings, then dive on in and enjoy, as this is one hell of a ride.
This is the next book for Varius and Micha, and it starts directly after the harrowing ending of book the previous book– yes, you need to read the previous books, so hop to it.
This entire series is absolutely amazing, I can't talk it up enough. It will yank you in from the start, the world-building is so, so well done, the characters are out of this world, and each book will drag you through the gutters of hell. Especially this one. Just like with GoT, don't get too attached to any characters or you may lose them.
One of the things I love about this book and how this author writes her dark, pitch-black romances, is that she doesn't skip the parts of healing from trauma that are messy. She doesn't write that love will fix you, that love will remove the pain. She writes closer to reality, that healing is one tiny step forward and ten steps backwards. I think Miranda ripped out my heart and stomped on it. Now it wouldn’t be a Shadow book if all these characters didn’t go to hell and back. So many emotions, so much trauma, and the most unhinged and unexpected things happens to these two. I absolutely love Varius and Micha since Tethered Souls. I thought Broken Souls ripped me apart. Nope not at all. This one right here was the biggest roller coaster and just when I thought the drop was over the roller coaster dropped like 50 more feet. Varius might be the ruthless boss of the Shadow boss but seeing how he cares and is so patient with Micha makes the some of these scenes that much more heartbreaking.

I've been following Varius and Micha's story since the very beginning. These two have had my heart since I discovered this author.
You will feel everything while reading this book.
Varius and Micha will go through some things that will make you want to stop, but you need to read their story. Their story is not for the weak. Their story is pitch black and you will feel different emotions throughout the whole book. I wanted to cry with everything that was happening to these two. I absolutely hated Antonio in this book. I still have beef with him. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a pitch black dark, dark romance, this is the book for you.

Wow. The amount of different emotions and levels of them you go thru during this book is something I haven't experienced. This book is dark and goes in deap with real like issues in this world, please check your triggers!!! If you are able to I highly recommend this book, and entire series.
I did not go into this book expecting to have a sense of healing, yet at the end I did. The amount of research, thought and unapologetic attention to detail this author puts into her books makes me even more appreciative. Some of you may not understand how something so dark can be so healing for others, luckily you don't need to.

I love so so so much Various and Micha’s relationship and growth.
Spoilers ahead!
Wish we could have some answers tho. Do they finish the bond? Is everyone going to know Various is a hybrid? Will Micha be able to use her magic again? Will they have a real HEA with their son? I know there is at least another book coming for Sau. But I cant wait!!
Also I’m totally heartbroken over Rudy and Leno 😭 how can they be just gone ugh my heart lol

If you read trigger warnings like a menu, this is the book for you. Miranda Grant has done it again, creating a deeply disturbed, multifaceted piece of art.
Both Miranda and I clearly need therapy but I have a new favourite book!

Omg! The emotional roller-coaster that this book had me in! I cried, I laughed and may have said wtf a few times.
Miranda did it again. The book wasn't without its flaws, mentioning how Antonio felt the urge every few years, and slaughtered the unlucky girl felt a little repetitive. But that can be easily overlooked with the plot twist that you don't see coming.
The cliffhanger...omg.. I hope we don't have to wait to long to see what happens to The Shadow Family.

My heart was torn into shreds and is going to take awhile to heal. This book is dark (very dark), gritty, full of emotion and had me in tears for over half of it. Could not have been an easy book to write but the depth of each character was remarkable and I feel like I personally know/knew each one.

When the authour says it is pitch black dark, she means it. This entire series has devoured my soul. I loved the roller coaster of emotions this book takes you on. Beware, it gets dark af...and then goes darker. But if you are twisted like me you'll love it.
