All three volumes of the best-selling Miraculous manga, in a large-sized, all-in-one edition! Revisit the Paris of Marinette and Adrian, and Ladybug and Cat Noir, in a larger page size and an easily portable package.
Includes Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir volumes 1–3.
Marinette is your typical high school student: cheery and a little clumsy. Not so typical? She can transform into a superhero! As the confident, masked Ladybug, Marinette guards the streets of the City of Lights alongside Cat Noir, another superhero who, unbeknownst to Marinette, is her classmate Adrian, and her crush! Adrian doesn’t know who Ladybug is, either, but he’s crushing on her, too. Supervillains, school, and criss-crossed crushes? As if being a teenager and a crime fighting superhero wasn’t enough!
This was such a fun and nostalgic experience—it really took me back to my childhood days. I used to watch those episodes so many times that I could recite every line by heart. I remember the excitement of waiting for each new episode to air.
The content itself isn’t new—it’s just the same episodes retold in manga form—but the illustrations are beautifully done! The art style is so cute and full of charm.
The story follows two teenagers, Marinette and Adrien, who live ordinary lives as high school students in Paris. But when villains cause chaos in the city, they transform into their masked superhero alter egos: Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Their secret identities are known to no one—not even to each other. Although Ladybug and Cat Noir fight side by side as partners, they have no idea they’re actually classmates in real life.
And that’s where the fun begins. Marinette is in love with her classmate Adrien, who is actually Cat Noir—while Cat Noir is in love with his partner Ladybug, who is, of course, Marinette. We get to watch these two teenagers yearn for each other without realizing their feelings are perfectly reciprocated.
Okay now prepare for the photo dump.
Marinette being a hot mess:
Ladybug however has her shit together:
Cat Noir is a little menace:
He also happens to be deeply in love:
Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
*I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.*
Disclaimer It's important to note that I read a preview of the title Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir as a Kodansha Reader before I read the omnibus edition.
Only the first volume for the ARC was provided to me due to the omnibus' size, but I will still review all three volumes to stay true with the ISBN edition attached to it which has in its description stated that it includes 3 volumes.
Quick Recommendation/Overview
Perfect for already existing Miraculous fans who would like to read the manga version of the show. The content, so the story, is all the same, but told in a fast-paced manner and it also includes insightful extra informations at the end of each volume.
People who haven't heard of Miraculous before should consider watching the show with the same title before starting to read the manga as it's throws one right in and can be confusing for somebody who isn't familiar with the show.
Initial thoughts
I always wanted to watch an anime adaption from the cartoon series as soon as I heard that it was originally supposed to be an anime with darker themes which would have been produced by Toei Animation. Unfortunately the ladybug spots made it harder to produce it to an anime, but now I can read a manga version with the same plot as the cartoon, so it's pretty much the same, (just not animated). I'm so happy to read this one, to see that my wish came true even if it's in the form of a manga than an anime!
Volume 1 First it starts off with Stormy Weather, one of the early villains when the show started to air in TV. I also liked how it didn't start with something that has a lot of plot but just with something casual to get into it. Of course, we were still provided with some quick romantic moments between Ladybug and Cat Noir, but nothing too serious.
The Bubbler is another villain that also appears in the show. This time it's about the complicated relationship between Adrien and his father. While I always thought that Adrien's father just tries to protect his son, I belive he overprotects him and is in general just rather mean to him. Adrien like a prisoner in his own house and that's really sad. Even though the situation both hurts Adrien, his friends and also the audience one can see his true self the best when he is at home than when he is around others. The complicated relationship with his father also gives Adrien more personality.
Ladybug is so supportive to Cat Noir. I really like seeing him grin when he feels better after talking to her. The most adorable moment in this volume was when Marinette sees Adrien use her birthday present and her reaction to it, especially how she decided not to tell him something that she should have told him, just to see him being happy.
Evillustrator is such an amazing villain. I always liked the concept of turning art into something threatening. So every time I see that episode (or now the manga chapter) I'm really excited. Unless other super powers, one creates their own super powers with ones drawings which in my opinion is even a bit overpowered, but that's exactly why I like it a lot.
The special notes are so insightful. I always wondered why Ladybug just stays Ladybug but Cat Noir keeps his French name, but now it all makes so much more sense. The french Hawk Moth name was already familiar to me as somebody French told me that it sounds more intimidating, which I agree. (I think it's hilarious how Hawk Moth looks like Batman from the panel on page 4). (Best part was the Sailor Moon reference, I have a weak spot for magical girl stuff. Seeing Cardcaptor Sakura as an advertisement at the end makes me consider buying it, I just need it!)
Volume 2 I know that Nathaniel has no chances with Marinette while she is head over heels with Adrien, but I think that he is a really sweet artist boy and I adore his commitment.
Dark Cupid is such a tragic story of rejection on Valentine's Day. But I'm here for seeing Cat Noir once more wearing black lipstick, it really suits him. Definitely my favourite chapter, for the romantic aspect between Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Volume 3 Not so sure if I like the fact that this whole volume is about Stoneheart. I really would have liked to see more villains and stuff.
The backstory and general 'beginning' of the story is one of my favourite episodes in the show. Meeting Plagg, Kwami, Marinette, Adrien and all the other characters for the first time and how they live before the story unravels is really interesting. The villain was rather boring, but it's the beginning of the story, if the villain would have been too amazing the other villains would have been less interesting for the audience later on.
This volume is a perfect introduction for people who don't know the show. Many things are getting explained and just like the reader feels like everything is new to them, so is it for the characters who are getting introduced. New school, new friends and a new identity. Seeing how the superhero team wasn't performing perfect from the start and also seeing how Marinette disliked Adrien at first is really interesting.
Final thoughts
The art style is marvelous. Ladybug and Cat Noir look amazing in their outfits but I think that Hawk Moth looks better in the show. His outfit just looks more dangerous than in this manga. The show always worked with shadows to make not only him but his outfit appear more intimidating, but in the manga it just looks so bland 'cause the shadows weren't there to support his evil persona.
I would personally not recommend this manga series to anyone who hasn't watched the show as it's hard to understand if one starts to read the first volume and not the third and the pacing is also faster which can be overwhelming for somebody who hasn't watched the show. The show is slower, shows the character developments much better and in general just easier to get into than the manga which probably intended to have the fans of the show reading it. For me it was fun since I already watched the show.
Pound it!
Big thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the advanced reader copy of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Complete Manga Omnibus by Koma Warita and Riku Tsuchida.
*I was not able to read the entire omnibus due to NetGalleys file size restrictions - only the first vol was accessible*
The art is definitely aimed at a younger audience (younger than the tv show).
I could not take Adrien seriously because of the way he was drawn. Manon's character was SPOT on. Loved the way Cat Noir and Ladybug are drawn ❤️🖤❤️🐾 This art style really showcased Chloe's personality too🐝
This is my first time reading any of the Miraculous series. I have watched the TV show and animated movies. This follows the TV show faithfully. Great for mid-grade readers. Perfect for any big fans who want to be able to read it. It can be a little confusing at first since it jumps right into it without any background information or introductions, but you get the gist pretty quick.
Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this ARC!
ARC provided by Kodansha Comics through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. It included the first volume (four chapters) of the omnibus.
As a fan of Miraculous Ladybug, I was excited to take a look at this omnibus. While it wasn’t entirely up to my taste, I’m sure the vibrant art style will appeal to children, the target audience, after all.
The first chapter felt a little out of place, and I can see how new readers who aren’t familiar with Miraculous might find it confusing. Fans of the show already know the stories and may simply enjoy experiencing them in a different format, especially since many of them are also anime/manga fans.
Overall, the story is a faithful adaptation that could encourage children to get into reading. The mini comics and special notes were a nice addition.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the opportunity to read and review an Advance Reader Copy of this book!
Not a lot of people know my lore, but I was so excited when I got approved for this book. I’ve been watching the show for the past 10 years (sometimes painfully, I’ll admit), but my love for it has never faded. Getting to experience the manga version felt so special!
Miraculous Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir follows a girl with big dreams who wants to be normal, except for the part where she saves the world sometimes, and a boy who finds freedom in becoming a hero, all while both of them navigate the challenges of being teenagers.
This series holds such a soft spot in my heart, and being able to read it in a new form was incredible. There are a few small differences from the show, but it still captures the heart of what makes Miraculous so good. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the series gets adapted!
Thank you again to NetGalley and Kodansha for the opportunity to read and review an Advance Reader Copy of this book!
This is so cute! If you're a fan of Miraculous but prefer 2D art to the CGI of the show, this is for you!
The chapters are based on episodes from season one, so the stories will be familiar to existing fans, but there are a few cute added scenes at the ends of chapters that were fun additions!
There are a few terms that show up with no in manga explanation, so prior experience with the show is a benefit.
In case you are looking at this as a fan of the show with no prior experience with Manga, be aware that this is meant to be read from right to left.
Overall, I love it, and would recommend it to fans of Miraculous and the Magical Girl genre as a whole!
I was given an advance copy, and these are my honest thoughts.
Lady Bug and Cat Noir, stars of the hit kids show, come alive in this manga version. Filled with exciting adventures, this is a faithful re-creation of the show , in anime style illustrations.
This ARC covers three episodes of the hit show; with the remainder to be available in the purchased version. The villains are just as villanous; the oblivious tension between the two heroes is adorably cringe; and the pace is fast and engaging throughout
My kids watched and loved Miraculous for many years, and they really enjoyed diving back into the world while reading this .
~This is a NetGalley ARC. All opinions are my own~
I've enjoyed the show for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir and was delighted to hear they've made an omnibus of the show as well. Featured in the first volume are the stories for the first three Parisiens who become akumatized and it was a delight to read stories that I have previously watched and refreshen myself on the storylines. The art style is great and is reminiscent of the show while being its own medium and they did a good job translating it over. This would make a good gift for a pre-teen or a teen, whether they're familiar with the show or not.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for an ARC for this omnibus in exchange for an honest review.
I have read the ARC provided by NetGalley, which contains Volume 1 of this Omnibus
Volume 1 contains retellings of 3 episodes from season 1 of the show-- Stormy Weather, The Bubbler which covers 2 manga chapters, and The Illustrator. Based on my memory of what I've seen of this show, the first two retellings are pretty faithful to the show but I think The Illustrator is going in a bit of a different direction? The conclusion for that episode is in Volume 2 so I can't comment too much.
The artstyle is a cute, simple Japanese manga style. I think fans of the show or preteens in general would enjoy this take on season 1
Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha for allowing me to read Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Complete Manga Omnibus! Due to the omnibus' size, I was only able to read the first volume, but I enjoyed it nonetheless! I started and finished this throughout today and loved the art style 😍 I'm a fan of the series so I could hear the music in my mind as I read 😆 I love how flirty Cat Noir is 🤭 I definitely think if I picked this up in the library as a kid I would have been absolutely hooked! I rate this read 4 stars, I think ☺️ It was a little unusual reading from right to left as I haven't had to do that before, but it was easy enough to get used to!
Thank you to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this e-arc!
It was really fun to come back to this iconic story of Ladybug and Cat Noir. I used to watch this show and now i really want to continue. This arc included the first 3 stories while the full 3 volumes will be in the omnibus version.
I liked the drawing style but it took away from the story that is included in the series. i know that the episodes are all very short but these chapters felt more like a summarized version of it than the full story.
Thank you netgalley for vol 1 of 3 in this omnibus!
Disclaimer: I was only provided the first of the three volumes includes, and my review only reflects that section.
A manga recreation of the Miraculous Ladybug tv show, this novel adapts several episodes from the first season. The adaptation is, to my recollection, faithful to the show, and enjoyable for anyone that wants to return to the early episodes in a new format.
The three books of Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir! Perfect for combining books and ensuring once you’re done with the first you can move right into the next!
I loved seeing these stories told through manga. The illustrations perfectly matched what we already know and love and the stories were perfectly executed!
Based on the TV show, the graphic novels closely follow the same episodes and storylines. This is a great book for kids to read—especially those who are fans of the show! The amazing duo saves Paris from villains trying to steal their Miraculouses, just like in the series. The art is vibrant and matches the TV show perfectly, making it a fun and familiar read for young fans.
This was just as entertaining as the show, following the story pretty closely. I really like the art style, it's super cute. I appreciate the translation notes, especially when they mention the difference between the three languages.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched the Miraculous television series that this manga is based on, so reading this definitely brought back memories. I really like how the art style for this manga improved the character designs from the original animated series. If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll definitely enjoy reading this.
Thank you to Kodansha Comics for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley!
Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A short and sweet adaptation of the cartoon into manga form. Very accurate to the cartoon which I think would be a great way for kids to get into manga or for kids to get into the show. The art style was cute and I liked the panel choices.
