A Darkly Humorous Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Romp

Word of don’t go touching weird alien crystals without first considering the consequences—especially if they just fell out of the sky and crushed your house.

Hi there, Jack Cobb here. See this scar on my hand? The one that looks like a pair of lips? Yeah, it wasn’t always a scar. At one point, it was home to a chatty little logophile I sometimes wish I could strangle.

Together, we had one save the world—or at least, save the people in it—and find the missing pieces to build a machine that might just save ourselves before the world kicks us to the curb.

This is a first-contact, end-of-the-world, come-to-Jesus sci-fi romp. Think Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy meets Aliens, with a little E.T., Left Behind, and a healthy dose of black budget conspiracies, bloody romance, and 80s pop culture references. If you love sarcastic survivors, weird alien tech, and the fine line between saving the world and dooming it, this book is for you.

A fun premise, with interesting characters and story. Silly and weird.

It's a bit God-bothering in parts, if that's an issue for you. I guess the author might have religion.

Also, in the audiobook, the inexplicable cockneys sound like Victorian children cos playing as football hooligans. Very odd choice.

Absolutely loved it. The audiobook was so well done! I thought the narrator really nailed all the quirky characters personalities and tones. The book was definitely a wild ridiculous ride that had me laughing out loud in multiple parts. Definitely recommend for a weekend read!
