This one was a freebie, so I only got to waste an hour of my time.

Just because you write erotica, doesn't mean you don't need put any effort into it. It felt like this book was written in 20 minutes.

What author failed to mention in the blurb is the fact that this whore wannabe is actually a virgin. If I would've known that, I wouldn't have read it.
The cover is nice, the title is intriguing, the book itself is anything but.

The heroine of the book is in debt up to her ears. One night at the bar she hits it off with some lady, gets chatty and tells her her life story - she's broke. The woman hands her a business card and tells her that at The Club, they could use a girl like her. Not a brothel, a club. You know, like a dating place. You meet dudes and they "gift" you with money for your services. It's not prostitution, it's all legal and shit.
I gulp. Then I whisper. "Are you talking about prostitution?"
She gives me a little smile. "Prostitution implies that you're with multiple men and they're paying you for sex. It's not like that. It's more like you're being paid to be one man's mistress."

See, it's not prostitution. So the virgin thinks it's all cool and calls The Club right away. Then, this is how she explains what The Club is all about, to her roommate when her roommate says...
"Shut up! Don't tell me you are thinking about becoming a prostitute."

Here is how she breaks it down for her using roommate's boyfriend as an example.
"David paid for all your drinks last night, didn't he?"
She nods.
"And when he takes you to dinner, movies, concerts, he always pays, doesn't he?"
(...)"And then you have sex with him, right?"
"Does that make you a prostitute?"
(...)"All I'm saying is that I think it's okay for a girl to accept gifts from a guy she's dating."

See, The Club is not a brothel, it's a dating place.
Now that we got that out of the way, she gets ready for the interview that will save her ass. She is nervous, of course. But not for the reasons you might think.
And what if the guy I'm fixe up with isn't attractive at all?
Will I have anything in common with a guy that old except sex?

Oh, you poor dear, you haven't had sex yet, but already call it a common interest. You are so funny. At least you have that going on for you.
But don't worry, they don't pare her up with some old dude who's been dusting in a far corner of The Club for centuries. Roll the drumroll...
He's one of the most popular and prominent celebrity artists in the United States. Hollywood's elite pay millions of dollars for him to paint their portraits, and hip hops artists wait years for him to design cover art for their albums.

Imagine Jey-Z writing and recording his new album, then waiting for years to get this motherf*cker to doodle an album cover for him. I can see Kanye West waiting that long though. He's weird that way.

Of course, she need to see a physician first, to make sure she doesn't give him anything itchy. The Big Hollywood Cock doesn't need to do the same though. Why? I don't know why. He just doesn't alright. Stop asking stupid questions! He's one of the most popular and prominent celebrity artists in the United States that's why! The fact that he (according to the contract that she signed) can have multiple partners during the arrangement, and can order her to be with other men, but she cant do the same, is not important and beside the point. Also, because she got Depo-Provera injection, which provides birth control. Which I'm guessing is made out of fairy dust and protects you not only from unwanted pregnancy, but also STDs. So it's all good.

The big day is here, she's in the apartment he rented (or bought, I don't remember) for the arrangement. The shit is going down. He orders her to strip and fucks her, bare. Once, comes inside her. Twice. Three times. Four times. She never fears that he could give her rabies or some similar shit. That's not the problem for her. What ticks her off is the letter from an ex that she finds (in the apartment that is brand new. Because apparently, he carries that letter everywhere he goes) where his ex writes how sorry she is that she can't give him what he needs, because she know that he loves her, even though she doesn't. The ex hopes that he finds happiness and a girl that will give him everything he needs. Oh, come on! Stop rolling your eyes. Wouldn't that piss you off, if you would've found that in your sugar daddy's place? You are such a hypocrite!

I'm guessing the next installment is just as exiting, filled with more drama and meaningless and unattached sex from his side and heroine who's entitled to shit because she sold her virginity to him for 15000$. Can't wait to read it. Not!

Rose Collins has graduated from the prestigious Chicago Academy Of Art And Design with a degree only to find that the industry is overly saturated with new graduates applying for far too few entry level positions. With her student loans about to go into repayment and no job prospects in her horizon Rose is offered the opportunity of a lifetime to contract to a man willing to pay for exclusive rights to her body 24/7.

The mysterious and reclusive Jae Rothko is a celebrity in the art world with his works bringing in top dollar and are featured all over the world. He doesn't have the time, patience, or tolerance for traditional relationships which is why he joined The Club, an exclusive and unusual service for men willing to pay the price for exclusivity. When he's informed about a new female available it doesn't take more than one look at her file to realize he wants her. And when Jae Rothko wants something he gets it.

* * * * * * * *

White elephant in the room comment. Reading this book will bring thoughts of Christian Grey to mind. While I have to admit there are some similarities and the overall undertones in this first installment do have me wondering if they might be twins who were separated at birth, it's still different.

I'm not a fan of serial series so this is rather hard for me to admit. I actually and truly liked this one. However, I wish the author had either fleshed out each installment into full size novels ... or ... combined all three installments into one book and increased the selling price. So, instead of (Amazon) $2.97 to receive all three individual books (which also disperses the review pool potential), there could have been one book of 210 pages which I would have appreciated so much more and saved a few pennies on the tax in the process. Oh well, it's easy to be a back seat quarterback and I guess if the author wants to take the chance of three different reviews who am I to judge...

In this first installment keep in mind that it ends in a cliffhanger which guarantees you'll need to purchase the next to know what happens. I gave this a three star rating partially because of that as I've been very vocal that when I buy a book I expect a complete story. There has to be some sort of intro, body, and ending (whether that be a HFN or HEA). That didn't happen here. The groundwork is set and there multiple open ended story lines that aren't resolved in this read so do be aware of that.

As for the characters themselves. I totally get there needed to be rationale for Rose (terrific name for a main character by the way hehehe) and Jae to get together and while I totally loved it I do have to point out that I wasn't convinced that Rose was at the point where she needed to do what she did. If that opinion is taken out of the equation, things sure did get interesting and held me on the edge of my seat.

Adult content. I am going out on a limb here in that the adult content kinky scenes have a BDSM flavor though that is only hinted at so far (the BDSM, not the kinky). Some the female readers might take issue with the first erotic scene but I feel it worked to add more drama to the mix. Non-spoiler code of conduct restricts me from commenting too much on that and other erotic scenes but I will say that my opinion about Jae did a 360 which is a biggie reason why I need to read the second installment (and will).

Overall, I enjoyed this book but won't get to the point of recommending it yet as it IS a serial that follows the always leave them wanting more promotional hook for the reader. I won't say more than that until I finish installment 2 and maybe 3, depending.

Book Review - Black Dog Nights (Parts 1, 2 and 3) by Ren Monterrey - four extremely satisfying stars

Black Dog Nights for me is a book that shouldn’t have been put out there as novellas. For me, there are
not enough twists and turns in each part to justify a novella. That’s my own personal thought on novellas, I think you need to have them crammed with action for them to stand up on their own, and these didn’t quite work on that basis for me.

As a book read altogether though (which I did as I read all three novellas together), then I really enjoyed it.

Rose is a graduate with a Fine Arts degree she can’t put to good use. She works in a cafe, but the money it pays is only just covering her bills and her student loans are coming due. Having been dragged on a night out to The Rock Stop by her friend Cali, who abandons her more or less as soon as she walks in, she strikes up a conversation with December, a woman at the bar, who gives her a business card for The Club.

The Club is an escort business and Rose has to decide if she is willing to trade her virginity and naivety
in order to repay her loans. Deciding she has no choice, she signs a contract and finds herself face to face with Jae Rothko, aka Black Dog a famous artist.

Jae is bossy and dominant and wants Rose on his terms. As their arrangement moves forward, Jae starts to infringe more and more on Rose’s life and interests outside of him. As Jae burns hot and cold, Rose has to decide if she can cope with the revised terms of their agreement or if she is putting more than her body on the line.

Jae is a strange character, rather emotionless on the outside, he has a huge problem in letting people know how he feels. As the story unfolds, you begin to understand a little more about why he is this way.

Rose is naive on life experiences, and struggles to separate her emotions from the job she is being paid to do. Can she work her way through Jae’s layers to get to understand the man underneath?

As both of them get further into the agreement, the more invested they both are in each other. But if one of them removed the agreement, would there still be anything left to hang on to? Or will it all crumble from the unsteady foundations it’s built on.

Black Dog Nights is a hot and steamy story but it’s also a story of a relationship being formed from a very uncharacteristic start, and the emotions that come into it. It’s about breaking down walls and finding out who people truly are.

Black Dog Nights was my first read of Ren Monterrey, but I wouldn’t think it will be my last. A thoroughly satisfying read.

the book is in three approximately 70 page parts and it was wonderful. The first part has us question ourselves with the dilemma of what will we give up to get our heads above water? What are we willing to give up without losing who we are?

Rose is in this spot. trying to get a job in the art world but drowning in loan debt. To deal with this Rose joins the club and meets Jae. Jae is a nice guy but rough around the edges. He plays for long terms even with Rose. Jae is socially inept, doesn't grasp peoples emotions well, how to express his own well and how to say what he thinks without having it seem something else. The two begin to feel for one another but their situation of how they came together is a elephant in the room and do they want to admit how they feel.

a fun read that will have you excited to read the next part.

I got part 1-3 in one book for free. I went into this with no expectations and it turned out to be entertaining. I wasn't bored. There were a few parts where I thought the h was silly and immature but since it was free I found myself being more tolerant.

I enjoyed Jae and Rose`s story. It was sad and beautiful at the same time. Love the story line and the characters. These characters have flaws but also so many wonderful qualities. Jae seems emotionally cut off and downright cold at times but with Rose he shows love and caring. I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read each one in this series.

CHRISTIAN MAY BE 50 SHADES OF GREY, BUT HE IS NO MATCH FOR THE BLACK DOG. HE COMMANDS A WOMAN’S BODY LIKE AN ARTIST, WITHOUT TOYS 0R RED ROOMS.

Rose Collins is a twenty-one year old recent student graduate of Fine Arts from the Chicago Academy of Art and Design. Though she is very proud of her degree, her degree also came at a very expensive debt of $50,000 in student loans. Without any job prospects from her previous interviews for a permanent position at a museum or an art gallery, she only has her part-time job at Try & Tina’s Beanery to pay her bills.

Feeling a little overwhelmed, Rose goes with her roommate, Cali, to The Rock Shop to get out and have a drink. While Cali leaves Rose at the bar to meet a guy, Rose meets another girl named, December Reynolds. Rose and December immediately become comfortable with each other and Rose finds herself telling December about her student loan debt and how she needs to start to paying but does not have a professional career at the time.

December offers Rose a business card with a phone number and a name – The Club. December explains to Rose The Club is like a dating service for extremely wealthy men to have girls at their call. December also explains the arrangement you make with the man that selects you is also negotiable. You can negotiate anything you want. As Rose picks up the business card from the bar, she feels her whole life could change with those two words – The Club.

Jae Rothko, otherwise known as Black Dog, is an artist the “Andy Warhol of the 21st Century.”

“…he’s wearing one of his signature black suits, with a black shirt and black tie. He never wears anything but all black, hence the moniker, Black Dog.”

Did Rose make a deal with devil himself to pay her debt by letting him use her body? On the other hand, is the spark she feels to the core of her soul the same feeling he may have for her? Alternatively, is she truly there only to fill his needs, to do her job, what she gets paid for while her heart is shattering into a million pieces?

Ren Monterrey’s novel, Black Dog Nights (Part One), does a magnificent job writing a captivating story that will have you feel as if you are on an emotional roller coaster of COMPASSION, SADNESS, ANGER, DISTRUST, DECEPTION, LUST, JEALOUSY, FRIENDSHIP, SUSPENSE, HOT SEX SCENES, and LOVE. Black Dog Nights (Part One) will capture your attention immediately and will be unable to put the book down, because you will join Rose in her journey. Black Dog Nights (Part One) does end with a HUGE cliffhanger, you will find yourself needing to ‘1-click’ the next book in the series immediately and will find yourself unable to walkway. Trust me you will not be disappointed…I could not wait and read all three novels in a single night!

"Sometimes people don’t mean to be cruel, they just don’t know any better."

Ren Monterrey’s BLACK DOG NIGHTS is a SERIAL NOVEL, which unfolds in THREE PARTS, Black Dog Nights (Part One), receives - +++5 AMAZING STARS!

Can you imagine meeting the man of your dreams at the same time your life is going to hell and you're trying to profit from your own misery? Intrigued already?

A pretty girl fresh from college and almost penniless.

A night out with a friend that results in a card, a club that offers arrangements between older men and penniless girls, and a choice to make.

It she the kind of woman who sells herself to one man for a comfortable life without worries?

I loved to find out the answer to that question along with Rose!

It's hard to imagine myself following her steps. Breaking limits and out of my comfort zone is why I usually like reading this kind of stories. I just want to know how far a provocative premise can really go.

Even though Rose goes into this shocking situation without so much as a bit of fret, her reasons are very clear. Student loans to pay, no way to do so. Despite that, it would have been better to see a little bit of desperation before she throws her untouched body to the wolves of pre-paid lust.

When she takes that first step, the interview is quite entertaining. Emotion-devoid, confusing, pure facts and instructions that leave her bewildered. It was as if I were there myself, insecure and dumbfounded by the sterilized motions of the meeting with Claudia, her contact with the club.

Now the biggest surprise comes when she meets face to face with the man who's chosen her. Gorgeous Jay, an artist she studied about in college. How weird and cool and hot is that?

I must admit I enjoyed myself immensely with every step from their first encounter through their arrangements to the sex. But not in a hot way. Actually, it was unnerving, cold and harsh for a virgin even though there was no violence whatsoever. It was so cold though. No romance and no love words. Gritty and realistic for two strangers and that kind of hook-up.

She shouldn't be seeing fireworks and she didn't.

Still, they kept having intimacy and it slowly became hotter. Not too much but enough to see hope at the end of the strange tunnel they're in. The developments were, no doubt, keenly interesting to watch.

There's potential in this alien relationship, I'm sure. The famous artist offers little of himself but is still kind in some ways. She's so naive but tries to accept the boundaries she's surrounded herself with due to this contract.

As the arrangement continues, the rope around Rosie gets tighter. I started to feel that there could be dangerous secrets lurking in the shadows. Poor Rosie cannot backpedal now. It's too late for regrets, and a couple of surprises at the end gave me the chills.

Wonderful cliffhanger! I know, it's hard to believe those two words can go together, but believe me, they can.

If you are looking for an erotic read with a fantastic storyline then Black Dog Nights is definitely the series for you. What starts off as a young woman letting herself be “used” to a mysterious artist as a way to pay off her student loans ends up being a riveting tale full of lust, passion, rage,, jealousy, sex, drama and emotion. I was glued to this story to the point where I could not put it down. The plot moves along very quickly and leaves you with wanting more.

There is something very compelling about both Rose and Jae (Black Dog). With Rose, you can almost feel her desperation as she tries to deal with her mounting debts and no looming job prospects. She makes a difficult decision to do what she has to do in order to survive. I loved how conflicted she was regarding Jae. She was almost repelled by him but at the same time there was a sexual attraction and pull that she could not deny.

Jae is a mysterious figure that radiates sex. He knows that he wants to possess Rose and will do anything to do so. I went back and forth as to how I felt about this alpha man and found my opinion changing from book to book. There is something dark and foreboding in his past that you know has created the man he is today.

Right from the start this couple oozed white hot sexual attraction. And there is a lot of down and dirty sex. Throughout each book you can see how much both of these characters change along with their relationship. Rose is strong from the beginning and she never compromises her true self even as Jae grows more and more possessive.

Each of these books are around 80 pages each , so the entire series is a very quick read. But despite it length, this series manages to pack quite a punch. I will warn you that each book ends in a cliffhanger. If you’re anything like me then you will be starting the next book as soon as you finish the previous one. I really loved the fact that these books give the reader a captivating story filled with interesting characters and lots of sex without requiring a huge time commitment.

If you are a fan of erotic, dark reads with sexy alpha men then you must check out this series.

Black Dog Nights: Part One

Ren Monterrey

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review. It is the first in a trilogy and each story is roughly eight pages long. This story line had been done before but the synopsis and covers grabbed my attention and I decided to give it a chance.

All I can say is WOW, this was a very fresh, quirky read that flowed effortlessly from page to page. So much so that when I finished the first segment, I was shaking my head in disbelief, there was no way, I thought I could have possibley read it already. I was aching to go and and thankfully had the next one at my fingertips. I confess I read all three in one evening. I had to. I needed to.

Twenty one year old Rose Collins has just finished college and has a Degree from the Chicago Academy of Arts and Design, no job and a very large student debt when she meets a girl at a bar that passes her a card for a new opportunity, to join The Club where wealthy men pay to have girls at their beck and call.

Jae Rothko is a well known artist who purchases the services of Rose. His wants and needs are simple and he is paying a lot of money for them.

“I want access to your body. That’s all, whenever and however I want it.”

They soon are having sex frequently and wildly. The arrangement is financially wonderful for Rose who has never had access to this kind of money, but soon she realizes that there are some bad points as well.

“I guess I didn’t realize how high the price actually was.”

Will the lure of the money be enough for Rose or will it be too hard on her heart? Will the cold hearted Jae ever loosen up to be able to express some emotions? Book Two is nearby and may shed some answers. I would rate this story a 5/5 and higher if I could.

If you thought Christian Grey was crazy intense wait until you meet BLACK DOG !!

Rose is a struggling college grad. She has a very expensive degree in art but has had no luck finding a job. While out with her roommate one night she runs into December , they make small talk and in turn December offers Rose some info that may just change her life.

Rose accepts a meeting at "THE CLUB" with Claudia and very quickly has a man interested in paying her to be his companion. This club offers women to men who have no time for relationships but want someone basically at their beck and call. Rose is a prime candidate because she is young , a virgin and would prefer to be in a long term contract. In walks Jae - BLACK DOG. He is a famous artist , how lucky can Rose get , right ?? Well Jae is a piece of work , honestly I hated him at first. Yes he is extremely hot and demanding but there was NO CONNECTION. I had a hard time reading their 1st few encounters but then all of a sudden he changes and things start coming to light.

Their contract is signed , they have their meeting places and times , the rules are in place. Jae claims her as his but technically he can do what he wants with who he wants. Trying to keep emotions off the table proves to be difficult for Rose because she is naive and though it doesn't happen often Jae can really be generous and loving almost. We are left with a cliffy as Rose is out with a friend from her past. It is just lunch right ?? No harm done...
How the heck does Jae even know where she is ??
WOW what will Rose do when she realizes just how intense and possessive Mr. BLACK DOG can be ??

**I received all three of these book in exchange for my honest review during this promo event.**

The are short novellas, I read them in a few hours and whilst they were short they were engaging enough to make you want to read the next. Ideally they could all be put into one book format. Since I received all 3 I will combine my review :)

The first thing that comes to mind is the similarity to Fifty Shades there are in this book, but the major one being that this is written so much better! This story is about Rose - an Art graduate with a ton of debt to the tune of $50k, and Jae an artist who doesn't have time for a "regular" girlfriend. They are both members of "The Club" - an exclusive escort agency if you will.

Rose is introduced to "The Club" and being as she is a 21 year old virgin the owner Claudia states she will be well sought after. Within 24 hours she is "assigned" Jae. A fellow artist who has his own personal issues. I found Jae in the first book to be controlling and fragile at the same time. Rose came over as a shy girl but we all know they are the ones to look out for lol

I loved how their relationship grew and how much I liked this series - think of a more respectable 50 shades. For all the books were short so much was still packed in, with regards to their relationship changing from an arrangement to something more. Rose was good for Jae as she brought out a side to him he never thought possible - they fit together and I am happy how it all worked out.

You know me, I don't give away spoilers but this book gripped me and I would recommend it to those who loved 50 shades and to those who aren't sure.

5 stars for the series.

This series is written in three parts, each one a short novella. The first two end on cliffhangers that left me immediately reaching for the next installment. You’ll definitely want to have all three downloaded so that you don’t have to wait to find out what happens with these compelling characters.

There’s no doubt that these novellas are erotic fiction, but they are so much more than a good steamy read. There’s a fantastic plot with wonderfully complex characters that elicit sympathy in the reader. Rose is a strong female lead driven to make her own destiny after being saddled with extensive student loans. She starts out the story naïve and inexperienced, but shows great growth as she finds what she wants in life and goes for it. Jae is the perfect leading man. He’s brooding and complex, with motivations that confuse Rose, yet he’s so relatable and honest. The chemistry between these two characters is undeniable and I loved reading the progression of their relationship that grows from a simple business agreement to something much more. The two of them ooze sexual chemistry and the author does a wonderful job of creating a steamy love affair.

Although these novellas are relatively short at about 80 pages each, they pack an emotional punch. Despite their length, the story is well developed and compelling. They have a dark, brooding feel to them that develops into a fairytale-like ending that is sure to delight fans of the romance genre.

If you enjoy erotic fiction with a sexy alpha male and a riveting plot, you’ll love the BLACK DOG NIGHTS series.

If you were faced with a mountain of debt and no job prospects to repay it, would you make a deal with the devil to sell your soul? Well in Rose's case it was her virginity but tomato to-mah-to. She is 21 years old facing a nasty job market in the art world after graduation. Her roommate drags her out to a club which is one of her least favorite places as a bit of a loner and introvert but she strikes up a conversation with December who plants the idea of joining the Club. A bit of soul searching later, Rose finds herself face to face with an interested club member- none other than her idol and influential artist Jae Rothko.

Jae is not very likable most of the time. He is abrupt, cold and all about himself. Although it could be said this series has some 50 Shades overtones, Jae is most definitely no Christian Grey.

“I want access to your body. That’s all. Whenever and however I want it. Everything else is irrelevant.”

He is a very strong personality- very serious, domineering and possessive. He sees her as his territory, there to serve his needs and all others need to be hands off.

"When our eyes lock, I gasp. His blue eyes are filled with dominance and the need to not just claim me but completely own me. It chills me entirely."

Rose struggles with her decision, weighing whether paying her debt is worth the frightening unknown that is Jae Rothko. For all his Jekyll and Hyde moments, he does show the capacity to be caring at times. Now she just has to figure out how far she is willing to go and what she will put up with before it is too much.

Twenty-one year old Rose Collins has just graduated from college with a degree in art and fifty thousand dollars in debt. Her student loans are about to become due and there is no job opportunities in her chosen field and her job as a barista isn’t going to cut it. While out one night, she meets a beautiful and interesting woman who encourages Rose to give her boss a call, which she does. It’s not her career of choice, but it will certainly pay the bills. Can she sell her body, her virginity, for a few thousand dollars?

I have to say, I think I have found a new author to add to my “favorite authors” lists. I found myself thinking whether or not I could have sex with someone for a few thousand dollars. I can say for sure I would not have sold my virginity. I felt bad for Rose; her first time was so unromantic. I know that people have had worse experiences, but . . . well I won’t write spoilers, what I will say is there were tears in my eyes as I empathized with Rose. This man is interesting to say the least. I know there is more to his story. There was a glimpse of it in this first part and I’m fairly certain they will fall madly in love but it’s going to be a hard pill to swallow. He doesn’t even make sure she’s ready before he attacks her and that’s just one of my many problems with him. I CANNOT wait to start part two, so this is the end of my review so I can go do that. This is a definite must read with 5 stars and 4 hands down the pants. Great job Ren.

Book provided in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great, quick and sexy series to read. What impressed me about the story is that while Rose may have been a virgin at the beginning of the story, she wasn't naive and sheltered; that to me made it more believeable. In addition, I've heard there are websites that are similar to The Club, so it's pretty easy to see this story happening in real life, especially when one is facing impending economic doom with no way to pay back borrowed money.

Jae might come off like a dickwad, but he's not. His demeanor makes him seem cold and uncaring, but the reality is that he never learned how to express his emotions. A failed relationship left its mark on Jae, to the point that he feels like he has to pay for an arrangement with a woman.

Add insecurity, possessiveness, reappearance of past loves, parents and a couple of secrets and you've got yourself one good series. The sexy times are frequent and pretty hot. I thought there could have been a bit more angst in this series, especially with the reappearance of a past love, that could have been a decent story arc. The only other issue I have with this series is that there are a few times the word "coach" was used when it's supposed to be "couch". Other than that, this is a fun series that I'd recommend.

: First of all, I want to say this is a serial novel in three parts. I am not a huge fan of the serial thing; however I do like that this is marked as a serial, stated how many books and is very reasonably priced. I love this author so of course I ventured in, and am very glad I did.

Rose is a young woman that like so many others chased her dream, went to college and got a scholarship in Art and found that there isn’t many jobs available for her at entry level. Stuck with a big student loan coming up for payment and living in Chicago isn’t cheap, she finds herself in a big dilemma. She meets girl that offers her a business card that can change her life in a big way.

I loved the storyline in this book. It’s one so many people face. I did have an issue though. Rose being a virgin. I think the story would have been as good or better if she hadn’t been, since for me that made Jae even more callous. Having said that, I do like the intrigue of Jae and his dark mysterious feel.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that liked the shades books, dark mysterious characters, new adult, sex clubs, serials and a story so interesting you don’t want to put it down. I do suggest having all three books handy!

This is a short novella with a lot of passion! The passion between Jae and Rose is explosive but subtle. So much like the life they live. She is an artist working as a waitress and he is the most famous, rich business man and an artist himself.

They meet in less than ideal circumstances but slowly start to understand each other. He is a man of few words and she is so hesitant of being wrong, it all adds to the misunderstanding and dilemma they face. It starts just as a business deal should but progresses to a different level, leaving both Jae and Rose wanting more.

She is out of money and support so looks for a different kind of a job, lucky girl that a famous artist likes her. Soon she is swept off in a world she has only dreamed of. Yes, it quite hot between the pages but very well done ;)

It is a fast paced story with a few surprises thrown in. a short read, I finished it in one sitting. The best part of the book is the layers in the story. As each chapter unfolds it add more depth to the story. Good language and no unnecessary fluff to distract the reader, this is a perfect read when you want to unwind.

The ending left me wanting more and I have already jumped into the second book of the series. Yep, I got all three, can’t wait to see where it goes.

Rose, the virgin with the art degree and a massive student loan and no career to show for it. trying to make ends meet in a coffee shop, she meets a girl in a bar who hands her a card to the club, Men paying for access to a woman's whenever they want.

Rose makes the decision to join the club quickly, not a lot of thinking time, but if you are going to do it, may as well get it over and done with before you change your mind.

Meet Jae, Black Dog, he 'chooses' her, and what a character he is. He isn't considerate with her in some situations. I wasn't impressed I can tell you, Yet then he can be quite caring, but in a 'what is mine' sense, and oh this is so intriguing. I am not a spoiler so I will let you read for yourself.

He melted me a little when he makes appointments for the year with his dr....... Oh! I know it doesn't seem romantic, or anything like that, but seriously.... it is!!! Is this the turning point for me, with him....?

He has an exclusive arrangement with Rose and that means a lot to Jae. Oh this has laid the groundwork, a GREAT start... gimme more.

I really don't know how to feel about this serial series. I'm a huge fan of the serial, I feel like I'm watching a really good TV series. With this, I was up in the air about it by the time I finished. The characters were slightly flat for me and it was hard for me to really establish a connection to the lead female. I always need that emotional caring towards the female lead, and although when she's in scenes with her best friend and roommate there were glimmers of her personality when she was with Jae. I feel like, no matter how 'hot' and artsy he was, she allowed that all to happen way to easy especially with her being a virgin and him totally should have known better.

The writing is strong in the sense that she knew how to propel the story forward for a novella. I wanted to know more by the end and I needed to see if she grew a bit of a back bone with Jae. There is more to this story and I fully intend on reading the other two installments. I just hope Jae stops being the "C" word, and Rose grows a spine where he is concerned. Yeah, he's paying but I feel like him picking her is way more than that.

5 Stars!

I LOVED this book though I am still on the fence about the hero. Moving on. This book was really interesting with just the right about of teasing steam to keep me wanting more.

This is just the beginning of Jae and Rose's story. Rose is drowning in debt and needs a job asap. So when an unusual job offer comes through, all Rose can see is dollars signs and security so she hesitantly jumps at the opportunity. When Jae chooses her to be his girl, she is about to find out how the other side truly lives and what it is like to fall into lust/love with a closed off man.

I need Jae to open up more and not be so freaking dead on the inside. I loved Jae and totally felt for her at times. I need to her to gain a backbone and get Jae's butt in line. But these two have chemistry and when they come together it is smoking. I can't wait for more! ;)

I highly recommend this book but be warned, it is part one in a three book serial series so a cliffhanger is an evitable part. (ps: all three volumes are out not!)

I was honored to receive this book for my honest review.

First let me explain the 4 star rating on this book. This book is part of a series book and for that I honestly will have to let the final book speak for itself in the overall rating.

David-cocky but controlling

Cali- pretty but insecure

Rose-the shy girl or is she?

Jae- the enigma

Claudia-straight and narrow not much to say

This is Rose’s story she is the shy girl that is scared. Afraid to most but is she really? Rose doesn’t know about life as we know it yet. She is that good girl afraid to push the proverbial envelop but in this story that is exactly what she does or she tries too. Jae is the hot hot man that wants to show Rose the way but can he find his way too? I honestly can’t answer those questions as of yet. Please stay tuned for my review on book 2 of the series.

The sex is in this book is Hot and getting hotter specially for Rose.
Kudos to the author for one amazing short story.

Happy Reading

Fresh out of college and with no job prospects, Rose Collins is between a rock and a hard place. With a large student loan about to kick into repayment, Rose knows she has to figure something out and soon. When a beautiful stranger hands her a business card and proposes The Club, Rose can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. But what will salvation cost Rose and is the price to high?

Despite this being a popular theme for so many books now and days, I found this one unique and very interesting. Ren Monterrey has a way with words that draws the reader into the story and keeps their attention until the end. I loved how strong Rose was even after the first few arranged nights because as a reader, I wanted to cry for her! I found myself loathing Jae and at the same time feeling pity for him. What a great story that I recommend to any type of romance reader but especially angst lovers!

P.S. Have Part Two ready because this cliff hanger will not let you walk away!

4 fangs

This is book 1 in the series. It can be read as a standalone but will keep you hanging. It could be classed as a novella, as I think it should be one long book instead of installments. As your just getting into the book it stops and you got to wait for the next one.

This book is for those people who enjoyed fifty shades of grey ( without the bdsm content) and around the world in eighty men.

Rose Collins is working part-time in a coffee shop but keeps going for other interviews and doesn't get any luck, owing 50k for student fees she has to find something quick.

Roses goes clubbing with her roommate Cali and Cali disappears with her on off boyfriend. Rose meets December who tell her of an arrangement she has and gives her a card with the number on if she is interested.

Rose ring the number and sets up a meeting. She meets them and is contacted soon after and her life will be changed forever.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

Black Dog Nights Part One by Ren Monterrey is a serial novel broken into three parts. Part one gave me a taste of what's to come in future installments. We get to know Rose and her situation. She doesn't seem like the kind of girl that would enter into an agreement like this, but she feels desperate. I think Jae is going to be one of those characters with layers. My first impression is that he guards his heart. He doesn't want to love, because he doesn't want to get hurt, but when he does love he does so deeply. At least, that's what I'm hoping from him. I want to figure him out. I'm already hooked into their story. I'm anxious for more.

Black Dog Nights Part One by Ren Monterrey was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

Rose can't seem to get ahead financially as she has trouble finding a job after graduating college with her art degree that she needs to start paying off the loans for. One night when she goes out with her roomie, she meets December who hands her a card that will solve her money problems. She joins The Club which connects well off men with women for arrangements. She connects with Jae. What starts out as an arrangement turns into so much more.

This was such a sweet and sexy story. Rose blossoms in the attention of Jae who could've easily come off as creepy stalker man, but ultimately reveals himself to be a romantic man who definitely has trouble expressing his feelings with Rose at first. Instead he shows her. I so loved that Jae not only wanted to shower her with gifts, but he wanted her dreams as an artist to come true. After I was done reading their story, I wanted to know more. I wanted to spend more time in their world.

I give Black Dog Nights 4 hearts!

I'm hooked! We have all been there... bills due, job searching with no prospects, and wondering is there a way out this mess?

Rose is innocent and sweet. At age 21, she is still a virgin. She is a great looking girl, but the right man and time have never come up.

Meeting Jae and agreeing to be at his beck and call is rather intimidating. He really does not help matters with his aloof approach to their agreement. This man won't even kiss her on the lips. It is true, the agreement is all in his favor. He does not even have to worry about making her enjoy their encounters. And yet, his response to her reactions show the more she responds to him the more he enjoys their connection. What makes this first installment so intriguing is that you know there is an under current in Jae's demeanor promising his true self has not been discovered yet.

How far will he go toward possessing Rose... mind, body and soul?
