Anyone looking for a very abbreviated history of Canada should read this.

Starting in the late 18th Century with exploration by the British which resulted in the aftermath of defeating the French in the new world, the book works along up to the late 1960s essentially.

The pace is good, presentation is smooth and doesn't get lost in dry or boring details. My only criticism would be a lack of mention regarding Natives from the Eastern territories to the latter interactions in the West.
The relationship between old world immigrants and Natives they encountered are an important part of Canada's fascinating history.

Obviously there are more specialised books written about Canadian history but for the year this was published and amount of information contained within this book, this is an easy read and will keep your attention throughout.
