‘Welcome! I hope you’ll be happy here,’ I say, standing on the doorstep and holding out a freshly baked cake. Amanda smiles but it doesn’t reach her eyes. The new arrivals to West Street clearly have secrets. But that’s okay. Because so do I…
Caroline twitches aside her curtains to see the new family moving in. A mother – beautifully dressed in expensive clothes – and two young children. Where is her husband, she wonders? And why are they moving in to the smallest house on the street? They really don’t seem the type.
But Caroline believes it’s important to be welcoming. It’s important to know everything that’s happening on West Street.
Amanda unpacks another box and breathes a shaky sigh. Her son is refusing to speak. Her daughter misses her friends. But we’re safe, Amanda tells herself. Her neighbour Caroline seems nice, if a little nosy. And most importantly, West Street is peaceful. Anonymous. Nobody knows who she is… do they?
But can Amanda really trust anyone on West Street? And can they trust her? Because when her secrets catch up with her…
Someone will go missing.
Someone will be taken away in handcuffs.
And someone, will die.
A totally addictive psychological thriller about a peaceful suburb where nothing is as perfect as it seems. Fans of Lisa Jewell, Shari Lapena and The Perfect Marriage won’t be able to put this down.

The very old saying “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts” seems to be what the following was created for!
Amanda was welcomed to West Street with a gracious smile and a freshly baked Chocolate cake. Behind the gracious smile was Caroline, an elderly woman who thought it her duty to welcome new comers. However, Caroline, (curtain twitcher extraordinaire) isn’t quite what she appears to be, and Amanda will have reason to wish she’d never set foot in West Street.
Amanda doesn’t really want to be in West Street at all, she’s walked out on her abusive husband Mike, while he was away on business in China. The home she left was beautiful. West Street is a dump, destined to be razed to the ground in six months, but it’ll do for now. Her kids, Jordan and Kiera can’t understand why they’ve had to leave their home and friends behind, and 11 year old Jordan takes it particularly badly, venting his anger towards his mum. However, no one knows about an anonymous text Amanda received, you know the kind “You don’t know me but”…….
The characters in West Street evoke little sympathy, they’re a strange bunch, and have some serious problems, not to mention dark secrets. However, I did enjoy the crazy journey, wondering exactly where it was going.
*Thank you to Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for an honest unbiased review *
West Street is a nice quiet friendly street in the ‘burbs thinks Caroline as she bakes a cake to welcome new neighbours in the rundown house at the top of the cul-de-sac. The people on this street are the sort to involve themselves in the lives of others but maybe Amanda, her children Jordan and Keira won’t want that. However, as we know appearances can be deceptive and who knows what goes on behind closed doors. Each one here has a secret which they’re desperate to keep and they’re big ones.
All about the choo-choo train to crazy town, or should that be to West Street where each female character is full of surprises. It’s fast paced with plenty of drama but I have trouble swallowing some of it as it’s just too OTT for my taste. On the plus side it’s a quick read and parts are definitely entertaining because it’s so out there! The characters are not likeable, especially nosy Caroline and I don’t find Jordan‘s point of view particularly believable as it just doesn’t ring true.
However, if you like pacey domestic dramas with a sprinkling or two of the bonkers then you’ll like this one!
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Bookouture for the early copy in return for an honest review.
Welcome to West Street is a story that gradually sucks you in and doesn’t let go until the twisted conclusion. This book proves that evil comes in many unexpected forms. Everyone on West Street has secrets. When those secrets are revealed things take a deadly, surprising turn. No one is innocent on this deceivingly welcoming street. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.
Another 5 star read. She's a really great author. This book centres on a small group of women and how domestic abuse can turn anyone into a killer. A novel of intrigue, diabolical actions and consequences. Id highly recommend to all thriller fans. Well worth a read. I'm reading more by her now. Love her writing style too. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
The ladies of this quiet cul de sac seem like an innocent lot, but that's like claiming a zebra has spots.
Amanda, who moves in with her two kids after escaping her abusive husband, has no idea what she's in for.
This story is one wild ride. I was hooked immediately and never wavered.
The plot was just this side of OTT, and while there was an obvious villain among them, I couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy for these women (some more than others of course).
Frankly, I think they did Amanda a favor ... right before they tried to kill her.
I didn’t know quite what to expect going into this book, but it pulled me in right away. This story kept me at the edge of my seat with anticipation. This book took the phrase you never know what’s going on “behind closed doors” to another level. The alternating perspectives keeps the story interesting, and there’s a real sense of suspense that builds throughout the book.
Amanda & her 2 kids have just moved to West St. escaping her abusive husband Michael. When she meets her nosy neighbors, she slowly realizes that there are some deeply rooted secrets amongst this cul-de-sac. Has she escaped one hell to enter another or are her neighbors just overly protective? Side note: I’ve never disliked a book child this much, Jordon had my blood boiling lol..
Very solid read that makes me want to read more by this author! The narrator did a really good job bringing life to these characters. Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this advanced listening copy. All opinions are my own.
3 1/2 stars rounded up. So the beginning of this was a bit of a struggle for me. I kept waiting for something to happen. It did, but it did take quite a while. The ending twist though made it totally worth it!
Amanda has moved to West Street to escape an abusive situation. But you never know what secret your neighbors are hiding! Who can she trust? Who might be able to get her? Why does her son act like such a little shit?
No issues with the narrator other than this book is told from multiple point of view with only one narrator. I am not generally a fan of this. It makes it confusing at time, especially when you’re going back-and-forth between several female characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for my advanced audio, copy and exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
West Street offers a warm welcome to new neighbours, the residents pride themselves on community, well being and looking out for their own, they bake cakes, and are ready to stock freezers but not all is as it seems with the women who welcome strangers with open arms, open ears and sticky beaks……..
I actually really enjoyed this, it is somewhat predictable, the undercurrent is there from the first pages, and the reader can easily unravel the facts throughout, there’s a dreaded “you don’t know me, but” flurry of text messages which tend to pan out pretty much as you’d expect in these types of novels. All of this said though, there was a twist that I didn’t expect, just as I thought I’d unraveled it all, the story was fast paced, there’s plenty to keep you invested and I felt an ally ship if kinds with the worst characters, I do love to be won over by a wrong un!
I enjoyed the audio narration by Taryn Ryan, she had the ability to make each character easy to distinguish and kept me intrigued and made the story good fun!
Huge gratitude to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this pre release Audiobook in return for an honest review 🎧
Amanda, having endured years of domestic abuse, has finally decided to leave her husband. She has gathered her two children, packed up everything she can and fled to West Street, hoping that her husband won’t find them.
From the moment they arrive, one of the neighbors, Caroline, is on the watch. Under the guise of being welcoming, Caroline wants to know why they have moved there. Amanda can’t help but feel a bit put off by Caroline’s pushy nature, but she also has other worries and these are of great concern.
Amanda also meets Gemma, and the two hit it off right away. However, Amanda’s son Jordan’s behavior really has her worried, so she strives to strike a balance between her determination and the struggles she has with him.
What a thrilling domestic drama! Nicole Trope’s latest book is a gripping and entertaining read. Amanda’s fears were palpable and Caroline’s nosiness was with intent, and I loved watching the drama unfold. There were more than a few surprises in this story, and it was a book that I couldn’t put down.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
WELCOME TO WEST STREET BY NICOLE TROPE Release date set for the 22nd of April 2025. This woman knows how to write amazing thrillers. Page turner, suspenseful and intriguing. Twists and turns. Great characters. I've read a fair few books by this author and she never disappoints.

Nicole Trope has once again proven that she’s an exceptional storyteller and a master of psychological tension. Her ability to weave a gripping narrative that demands your full attention is nothing short of remarkable. Be warned: once you start this book, you won’t be able to put it down—it will completely hijack your day in the best way possible.
As a lifelong lover of thrillers, I can confidently say this story stands in a league of its own. It's hauntingly original and thought-provoking and pulses with an undercurrent of poetic justice that will have you questioning everything—from the people you trust to the very weight of your words. It challenges your moral compass and stirs a quiet reckoning with the lessons we think we’ve learned from the past.
This is not just a book—it’s an experience. One that will leave you reeling long after the final page. I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who loves thrillers, twisty narratives, or stories that demand introspection.
Honestly, if this book had included a hundred extra pages describing how consumed I was by the story, I would’ve devoured those too. That’s how good it is.
Yes!!!! Loved loved loved... this book was sensational. I wized through it just pulls you right in. You just never really know your neighbors. Snd this group of ladies was just something else. Never saw what happened coming. Fantastic!!!
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.
"Welcome to West Street" by Nicole Trope is an entertaining, 5-star read! Amanda needs a fresh start and decides to make a clean break from her husband. While he’s out of town on business, she rents a house and moves in with her son, Jordan, and daughter, Kiera. Tension surfaces quickly—especially between Amanda and Jordan, who misses their old home and wants to be back with his dad. Meanwhile, Caroline, their 70-year-old neighbor, quietly observes the new family from her window as they settle into the quiet cul-de-sac.
The story is told from three different perspectives—Amanda, Caroline, and Jordan—which gives great depth to the narrative. It’s a fast-paced read that kept me turning the pages, eager to see what would happen next. The relationship between Amanda and Jordan feels very real. It’s not always easy to read, but it reflects the kind of mother–son dynamic that does exist in the real world.
There are difficult themes involving Amanda’s relationship with her husband, which some readers may find troubling, so I’d recommend checking trigger warnings. As the story unfolds, several twists emerge near the end—some more surprising than others.
So far, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by Nicole Trope, and I’m excited to see what she writes next!
Thanks to Bookouture, Nicole Trope, and NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.
I really enjoyed this one. Amanda is escaping an abusive husband but is she safe now? I really liked the storyline of a tight knit neighborhood hiding some secrets. The twists were great. The book wasn’t a 5 star for me because I would have liked to go more in depth with the other ladies on the street. I feel like we didn’t get enough into their characters and it made it hard to sympathize with them.
This story was such an unexpected surprise! When I started this book, I had no inkling that it would end the way it did!
Amanda and her two children are on the run from her abusive husband, and she's packed up their things and found a humble abode on West Street. While it's not the luxury she and her children are accustomed to, they are safe. Yet her son, Jordan, is very upset about having to leave his dad and will stop at nothing to be reunited with him, even risking his mother's safety.
Amanda quickly meets her neighbors who welcome her and her children with open arms. But what are the lengths that these neighbors will go to to protect their street and their secrets? From the reclusive woman next door to the nosy neighbor with her own pain tucked away behind judgment, every character felt real and flawed. Caroline was the nosey neighbor, Mary was in her own world most of the time, and Gemma appears to be hiding something. The secrets these neighbors are hiding blew my mind! I thoroughly enjoyed the fast paced plot and character development as I watched the details unfold.
There was plenty of drama, lies, secrets and betrayal in this twisty domestic thriller. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, another twist came and changed my perception of everyone and everything. This one was so good!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This high quality audio draws you in from the beginning. as we focus on the new arrivals to west street. A mother has arrived with her two children she has left her husband while he is away on a business trip. The street is full of strong female characters who each have their own secrets. Its fun learning these and the dynamics of the street. The pacing however felt a bit off in the first half like i was waiting for something to happen and i did not know what. Nothing is at it seems there is plenty of tension once the story gets going. I found the son annoying and the final reveal omg worth it just for that. This felt more about the dynamics of the women than a family. This is a worthwhile listen for all thriller lovers. Thank you netgallery, publisher, author and narrator
Have always loved the authors books, the settings, characters and stories always make for an exciting read
In this book we find Amanda and her 2 children on the run from an abusive husband …..they have moved into a quiet residential street where Amanda has nothing to fear except her husband finding them….or so she thinks…
Her neighbours are an extremely tight knit group led by Caroline, who makes it her business to keep ‘her’ street in shipshape order and intends to make sure the new arrivals do nothing to change the peaceful status quo of her beloved kingdom….and woe betide them if they do
Of course Caroline and the other neighbours all have secrets they are hiding as Amanda is about to find out!
Loved the descriptions of the formidable character of Caroline who pickling and baking aside was more than a force to be reckoned with and whose unspoken rules you broke at your peril
Good and at times unsettling psychological thriller….
love reading all of Nicole Trope’s books so I was thrilled to receive this ARC. This was such a quick page turner, I couldn’t put it down! This one is filled with neighborhood drama and when Amanda moves to West Street, it’s possible that she gets more than she’s bargained for…
If you’re looking for a fun, quick suspenseful book, this one’s for you!
Was this the best thriller I’ve ever read? No. It was just OK. Was the twist that surprising? Not really. But was it enough to do the trick and get me out of my almost 2 month reading slump? Yes. So for that reason, it gets a little bit more credit.
⚠️TRIGGER WARNINGS: Domestic violence and brief mention of child loss.
Thank you @bookouture and @nicoletropeauthor for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This is my second Nicole Trope book and WILL NOT be my last. This is your typical domestic thriller! If you're a Freida McFadden lover, you need to check out this author. ! She had me hooked from the VERY beginning. I knew I had to know what was going to happen next. The plot was so well written that I felt like I was watching it on a movie screen. And let me tell you about these twists and turns. There were so many times my jaw was to the floor through this book. I HIGHLY recommend checking this book out when it releases on 4/22. You will NOT be disappointed!
3.75⭐️ - This was a really fun and suspenseful read. The story follows Amanda, who moves to West Street with her two children, hoping to leave behind an abusive marriage. But as she gets to know her overly friendly and very nosy neighbours, she begins to suspect that the seemingly idyllic community she has landed in might be hiding some dark secrets. Has she truly escaped her past, or simply traded one nightmare for another?
The storyline kept me hooked from start to finish and the alternating perspectives worked brilliantly, adding layers of tension and gradually revealing the truth behind the picture-perfect facades.
That said, I did not particularly like any of the characters. Jordan might just be the most insufferable book child I have ever come across. Despite how awful most of the characters were, the drama and suspense made it impossible to stop listening.
It was a little unrealistic at times, but it was juicy, fast paced and full of twists, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio, and Nicole Trope for the early access.
I'd heard mixed reviews of this one so I began with a sense of dread and trepidation - but I was pleasantly surprised! I began this book as I was cooking dinner and devoured it within hours. It is pure Nicole Trope, domestic suspense queen extraordinaire.
Amanda has been married to jewellery businessman Mike Caldwell for twelve years; first his mistress then his wife. Together they have two children - Jordan (11) and Keira (9) - and a huge sprawling house with everything she could ever want. Except maybe a husband who loves and respects her. But to Mike she is just a trophy he can take out and show off, whilst behind closed doors bending her to his will. His abuse is swift, stealthy and silent. No one but she knows of her terror. And the last thing she wants is her children finding out. They adore their father and she doesn't want to taint their image of him. Her only problem now is how to leave him. She's threatened him eleven times and each time he knew she would never follow through. After all, she knew what he would do to her if she tried.
So when she receives a text from an unknown number"
"You don't know me but I know you...Mike and I are in love..."
Amanda thinks this is her way out. She bides her time and waits for the perfect moment. It comes when Mike takes a week long buying trip to China for his business. Amanda wastes no time in packing their belongings - all the essentials and the things she has purchased in secret and kept in storage until this moment - loads the children into the car and drives the hour long distance to the place she has rented for them for six months. This will be the start of their new life. But what she doesn't realise is the danger she has brought to her door.
The moment Mike realises she has gone, leaving nothing but an envelope with divorce papers on his desk, she knows he will be livid. He has threatened her many times if she dared to leave him. But dragging the children from their life of privilege to a run down house that will be demolished in a few months, that has nothing of the mod cons they are used to, is a far cry their old life. She knows her children don't like the move but she is doing this for them. She doesn't want them to grow up with the shadow of that kind of abuse being acceptable. It isn't.
It isn't long before Amanda meets the other residents of the quiet cul-de-sac of West Street - queen bee Caroline who flutters over elderly Mary and mother of two Gemma. The women like the street the way it is and dislike disruption but welcome the family with open arms. However, not all is as it seems. Jordan is anything but happy about the move and makes it known not just to his mother but all the other neighbours as well, screaming his vitriol for all to hear before storming out which becomes a daily occurrence. This unsettles the residents and ruffles the feathers of their quiet little street. But there's a story lurking and the women are intent on uncovering Amanda's secrets and to be the friends she is sure to need.
But just how much is everyone hiding in this cul-de-sac? Can she trust them? Can they trust her? And just whose past is going to catch up with them before the last page?
Amanda didn't so much as drive to West Street as catch the crazy train there! This is one crazy ride from start to finish with plenty of drama, secrets, lies and deception. Oh, yes, it is a tad OTT but the entertainment factor kept me enthralled too much to care. Nobody is particularly likeable, including Amanda as you feel she is keeping something back though you aren't quite sure what. I didn't entirely warm to her and loathed her son Jordan who was a spoilt rich kid who had been used to daddy's creature comforts not to see past himself. Caroline was far too nosy for my liking though she came across as endearing that you forgave her that at first. Mary is somewhere in la la land and Gemma is just pure shifty. I knew she was hiding something from the beginning.
The story was pretty predictable from very early on and I had figured out pretty much all the twists - some even before they happened! But it didn't ruin my enjoyment of what was essentially an entertaining quick read that I devoured in the space of an evening.
Nicole Trope is one of my favourite authors and she never disappoints. I love how she brings Australia to life in her stories so I can relate to the climate she describes in her books as I live the steamy summers and mild winters all year round. And February definitely IS the hottest and steamiest month (even though it is the last month of summer here).
If you love a good domestic suspense with plenty of drama, secrets and whole load of bonkers, then you will enjoy this crazy ride for sure!
I would like to thank #NicoleTrope, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #WelcomeToWestStreet in exchange for an honest review.
Welcome To West Street by Nicole Trope, when the book starts Amanda and her two young children are moving to a rundown home in a tight knit cul-de-sac. It’s nothing like her previous palatial home she lived in with husband Mike who owns a very successful jewelry store in Australia. unfortunately he was also physically and psychologically abusive and this is why she would rather bring her nine-year-old daughter Kiara and 11-year-old son Jordan to live in a rundown house away from what they know in their friends. while she’s moving in close friends and her new neighbors Caroline and Mary are watching wondering what type of person she is and Carolyn makes it her personal business to find out. Not everyone is happy about the move especially 11 year-old Jordan who seems to have taken the place his daddy vacated by the move and it’s abusive to his mom calls her a bitch and wants nothing more than to go back home and sadly his bad attitude in abusive nature isn’t saved for his mother. Caroline is incredulous about the new changes Amanda and her family have brought to their quiet neighborhood and intends to do something about it but will she be help from heaven, or help sent from hell. Soon Jordan goes missing and at first Amanda thinks he is with Mike but she will learn Mike wasn’t the only one she should’ve feared. I am so tired of these books where people let their children talk any kind of way to them and meet this bad behavior with kindness or nothing at all. It is a parent job to prepare their children for the real world and the real world is not so kind. as far as the book goes I was super excited to get another Nicole trope thriller because she has quickly become an author whose books I love and although this one was a bit over the top I would still recommend it because after all it is still Nicole Trope. Caroline isn’t your typical nosy neighbor nor is her Mary and Gemma‘s friendship your typical neighborhood click but then again if it was this book wouldn’t be considered a thriller. #NetGalley, #Bookouture, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,#NicoleTrope, #WelcomeToWestStreet
This is a faced paced, quick read! Lots of twists to keep you guessing. Check it out on release day, April 22nd!

But can Amanda really trust anyone on West Street? And can they trust her? Because when her secrets catch up with her…
Welcome to the Neighborhood! Amanda takes her 2 children and leaves her abusive husband for what she thinks is a safer place. She goes from designer brand names to bare bone necessities. Nobody hates it more than 11 year old Jordan who has a budding temper that is starting to match dear old dad. It soon becomes clear that not everyone in this little cul-de-sac is as they first appear! As the story is told from multiple POV you get a glimpse into all the secrets little by little behind each closed door. And just when you think you know who all the players are and the roles they have play, you find out just how wrong you are! Sometimes quiet and unassuming can be hiding a darker side than you want to know. Even more chilling is be careful what you wish for and who you make it to.
Some people will go to great lengths for peace and quiet. How far would YOU go?

If you’re itching for instant thrills and cliffhangers on every page, step back—this one’s a slow burr that smolders beneath the surface. Nicole Trope’s Welcome to West Street reads like a late-night heart‑to‑heart with a friend who knows your secrets, full of messy love, tentative hope, and those tiny moments that feel like home. I’ll admit there were stretches where I wasn’t entirely sold, but every whispered confession and quiet revelation pulled me back in stronger than before.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ PG‑13 language, gentle steam, and a whole lot of heart—only recommend if you love the slow burr.
