Jeremy and Lillian Fischer’s marriage is broken and she takes the kids to her parents. Little does she expect the terrible, seductive cult hiding in her previously peaceful hometown. Now, as sinister forces gather with an eye for the children, Lillian and Jeremy must find a way to reconcile or watch their family burn.
A slow but delicious burn 🔥 a sci-fi horror that begs the question “what would you do” how far would you go for your family? A strong FMC with fight and tenacity. Which I absolutely adore. A must read. Shifting POV that is easy to follow due to crafted writing style!

If you like books about cults the this is the book for you. Because Jeremy made a bad decision, Lillian made a break for her parents home. I could feel the confusion that Lillian had when she arrived in her hometown. Her confusion did not last long due to her own stress and trying to find herself. This book was more than taking on a crazy cult leader. This book asked the reader to inquire within and decide how far a person would go to protect their family and come to terms with unacceptable behavior. Lillian chose to go to her parents home for safety, she did not know what she was running toward. She also grappled with herself since she loved her life but she felt she was overwhelmed and unfulfilled as a person. She had uneasy feelings about what was going on but because she was preoccupied she ignored many of the red flags. When her suspicions were confirmed she felt she was in over her head and her children became expendable but Lillian was alone. Once Jeremy realized something was wrong, he raced toward his family, no plan in mind except to rescue his family with the hope he would be able to make amends toward his wife. Then as things escalated, choices had to be reviewed and normal behavior was out the window. This was a very horrifying and thoughtful novel. I highly recommend this book.
I found this book interesting, and I liked the unique way it was narrated. The theme is original and there are lots of twists and turns. A word of warning though: you may find some parts shocking and intense.
I enjoyed this book even though to me it started off a little slow, then strange things started happening. You think you've figured what's going on waiting to find out how it happened. About that time you find out you were wrong. I found myself holding my breath at times.
The first half is an incredibly compelling psychological suspense with little hints of the supernatural. Then it gets bonkers around 50 percent. I would've preferred the slower suspenseful build up continue a bit longer, but it was still a good book.
I really enjoyed this book. The story pulls you in from the opening pages. The story moves at a good pace and the characters are well developed. Definitely recommended!
