"After your tenth corpse, you develop a sort of technique: how deep, how shallow, whether you should bury or sink it."

For Boli, this was just another job. Stuff the body in a bag. Bury it deep. And then make sure it disappears forever. Yet this job seemed different. Was it the presence of the nervous Malik? Or the air of doom that permeated the swampy, muggy jungle he was in?

A 4,037-word short story. Also included: a glossary of Malaysian words and an Afterward. Total word count about 4791 words.

"Bag" first appeared in the best-selling short story anthology KL Noir: Blue by Fixi Novo.

"Bag" is the first tale in the Tropical Noir series, a collection of noir short stories set in Malaysia.

Elizabeth Tai wrote her first book when she was 12. It was a non-fiction book about astronomy which she wrote on A4 sheets of paper stapled together. She also drew her own comic books in exercise books.

This no-holds-barred passion for sharing stories and indie publishing followed her through adulthood. She published her first novel online in 2002 and decided that she really loved this brave new world of digital publishing. Now her tools are her battered MacBook Air and the World Wide Web.

Currently, she writes mostly non-fiction and memoirs. However, she also writes science fiction as Tai Weiland.
