British Bedmate

Rate this book
Please This book was previously published as Dear Bridget I Want You. Only the title and cover have been changed. All other content remains the same.

From The New York Times best-selling authors of Stuck-Up Suit and Mister Moneybags comes a new, sexy stand-alone novel.

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing...for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d fancy a British bedmate in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2! Dear Bridget, I Want You (stand-alone). Dear Simon I WANT to ride read YOU again!

“My fingers were definitely working on behalf of my cock that unfortunately couldn’t be here to accept this award tonight.”

Dear Bridget, I Want You (stand-alone) opens up to an embarrassing incident, with a sexy doctor, for nurse Bridget Valentine. But after tragically having become a widow her focus is on her son. There is no room for entanglements.

Not even with a sex-on-a-stick British doctor with a potty-mouth.

Simon Hogue, Dr. Hogue is wrapping up his internship and getting ready to return to the UK. He might have run from a tragedy but he is ready to go home. He is very much enjoying his playboy status and not looking to get hooked (pun intended).

Not even by a sexy American with the perfect sexy arse.

Imagine their shock and uh “discomfort” upon discovering they will be living together. The story goes on to follow Simon and Bridget as they fight their attraction - and fail miserably. More than a forbidden office romance they must deal with painful pasts and face what divides them; a continent, age, fear, different goals and outlooks.

“I wanted to ride him more than I wanted to take my next breath. And this from a woman who’d always preferred the missionary position.”

Seven words to describe Simon Hogue, Dr. Hogue: Charming, noble, playful, possessive, analytical, goal-oriented and dirty-talker.

Seven words to describe Bridget Valentine: Focused, lonely, nurturing, insecure, reflective, independent and loyal

Dear Bridget, I Want You, told from dual POVs and spiced up with lewd letters, is a sexy, sweet and hilariously funny romance about two lonely souls with tragic pasts getting a second chance at happiness. Add to that elements of forbidden and impossible and an oh so sweet British doctor with a huge… uh heart and dirty mouth!

“I finally realized that I was more afraid of losing you than I was of finding you.”

For the most part, I lived a very simple life. I didn’t need fancy cars or money. I worked hard, yet didn’t need to be the chief. But every once in a blue moon, something came along and lit a fire under my ass. My desires were limited, but when they struck—they were consuming. There were no two ways about it, I desired Bridget Valentine.

FANTASTIC!!!!

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have done it again!! Their writing collaboration is exceptional! I think these ladies need to consider writing together full-time. While their individual works have been great, I think their collaborations have often times been magical. It’s stories like this that keeps fueling my reading obsession! I loved absolutely everything about this story and am not sure that I'll be able to find the words to put together to write a review worthy of this book! It had what I love THE MOST-- a romance between a devilishly handsome British Hero and a sweet and down to earth American Heroine!! British Heroes tend to pull off their cocky attitudes with ease and are skilled dirty talkers. I’m positive that Dr. Simon Hogue is going to capture the hearts of many a reader!! He has become my top favorite Hero created by these two authors!

Bridget and Simon have one of the funniest “meet cutes” ever to be written in a RomCom! Bridget winds up in the E.R. with an embarrassing injury that she got while trying to teach her little boy how to fish. Bridget is a nurse and decides to go to a hospital that she doesn’t work at to save herself from having to suffer through endless amounts of teasing from her co-workers. She never expected that her doctor was going to be ridiculously hot and British!! The level of mortification she goes through is astronomical and Simon doesn’t hesitate to poke a little fun at Bridget while also tending to her wound. While the situation is less than ideal Bridget can’t help but notice how the good doctor also has got her temperature rising. Their encounter lasts all of fifteen minutes but Fate has plans for these two because a few weeks later, Simon ends up being the new tenant of the garage apartment in her house. Not only will they be roomies but it turns out he’s also finishing up his last year of residency at the hospital that Bridget works at.

 photo Dear Bridget Banner_zpse2vfunxv.jpg

In no time at all Bridget and Simon settle into an easy friendship while also trying to get a handle on the intense attraction that is building between them. Both Bridget and Simon are convinced that things could never work between them for completely different and somewhat irrational reasons. Simon has never been in a committed relationship and he’s actually never been tempted to pursue one. He seeks out women who are only looking for a good time and he hasn’t gone beyond two dates with the same woman yet. He’s also haunted by a tragedy from his past which he's plagued with unreasonable guilt over. Plus, Simon’s planning to move back to England once he completes his residency in less than a year.

Bridget lost her husband a couple years back when he died in a car accident. She was left to raise their six-year-old son alone on her meager Nurse’s salary. Her son, Brendan, is her entire world. She’s hesitant to jump back into the dating pool because she doesn’t think any man will want a woman with "baggage". She’s also not willing to bring someone into Brendan’s life that is not in it for the long haul.

 photo Release Day Teaser_zpsyllupuxq.jpg

Bridget finds herself getting increasingly attached to Simon and it’s scaring her because she knows that if she were to give in to her feelings that Simon could break her heart more than any other man ever has. Simon is in the same pickle. He’s consumed with his feelings for Bridget and has grown attached to her son as well.

I was dying for these two to finally give in to their desires and let’s just say it was definitely worth the wait!! Wow! I was nearly scorched by the flames that the seduction between Simon and Bridget created. But while they’ve got incredible sexual chemistry those silly little reasons of why things could never work out between them are still hovering in the background. Will they get a clue before it’s too late?

DEAR BRIDGET, I LOVE YOU is currently available! This is a MUST READ! I promise you, it is that good! You’ll get sucked in and then in no time at all you’ll have finished it because this is one book that is just that hard to put down!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

Bridget meets Dr. Hogue/Simon when she goes to the emergency room to get an issue with her butt fixed. It was awkward and very funny.
"It's bad enough you're already..." He grinned."...the butt of the joke. You don't need me to poke fun.""You're an ass, you know that?""I'd rather be one than have a fish hook in one."

 photo minionlaughing_zpsiv7grn07.gif

Bridget is a 34yr old widow, single mum and nurse. Her husband died two years ago leaving her to raise their son alone, Bridget works really hard to keep all the bills paid so her son can stay in the only home he has ever known. To help she leases out the in-law accommodation that's attached to her house. Who should be the tenant her friend finds for her? None other than Dr. Dreamy, yep the same Dr. Dreamy who pulled the hook from her butt!!

 photo dr_zpscfzxrs04.jpg

I fell for Simon instantly, he is a sexy charmer with a body made for sin add in the accent and you have a pretty perfect leading man.

I loved reading the relationship form between these two there was sarcasm, flirting, chemistry and swoon worthy moments. Like the part where Simon was reading her a sex scene from her e-reader and accidently said their names instead of the characters in the book, oh and I have to mention the letters if I got one of those under my door well let's just say there wouldn't be much hesitation.

So I am thinking this was the perfect read for me this week, I have a house full of 'man flu' victims on top of working which I unfortunately do from home so there was no escaping it.
 photo testing-me_zpsejdyjvnr.gif

Anyway..............

This story was light, fun and funny while at the same time being serious and steamy. I LOVED all the back and forth banter and all the little 'mishaps' throughout kept me completely entertained. Bridget and Simon are insanely adorable and I highly recommend you give this one a go.

➦I loved Zach Weber's narration of this audiobook, he really made the hero's character come alive with his sexy British accent and expressiveness. I won't talk about Andy Arndt because she can do no wrong and I can literally listen to her all day reciting phone numbers out of a phone book. (does anyone even use those anymore?)

➦Doctor's are IN, I guess. If you are looking for a second chance romance with a roommate trope this would be it. A single mother who works as a nurse in the same hospital as a doctor McHottie...

➦So yeah, long story short - really enjoyed it. Perfect blend of humor, steam and angst. I don't mind unbelievable OTT jokes for the sake of fiction but there are always certain unnecessary dramatics that are present in books by this duo that kind of rub me the wrong way.

“You hooked me from the very beginning

British Bedmate is another book cowritten by the fabulous duo of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. When I saw it was narrated by Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt I knew I had to listen to it on audio. Zachary can do a pretty good British accent…who knew? This was a swoony, sexy, and fun listen and I’m so glad I fit it in.

Simon and Bridget have the most hilarious meet cute. Bridget has a bit of an accident taking her son fishing involving a fishing hook and her rear end and Simon is the ER doctor who helps her out. A few months later, he is the new doctor at the hospital she’s a nurse at. And she finds him renting an apartment attached to her house.

Simon and Bridget have loads of chemistry, but Simon is planning on going back to England someday soon and Bridget is a single mom, so the two of them getting together just doesn’t make sense. As much as they try to stay away from each other, they just can’t fight the attraction they feel and eventually give in.

I loved Simon and Bridget’s relationship and the chemistry between them. I especially loved Simon’s relationship with Bridget’s son. It was the sweetest. This book gave me happy feels and was such a fun audio book to listen to! Definitely recommend this one.

HOLY FREAKING SWOOOOOON!! Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland continue to rock my world!! This was an addictive, sexy, heart-warming romance! I absolutely loved it! The story starts off with a hilarious meeting between the hero and heroine and turns into a delightful friends-to-lovers romance that is guaranteed to keep you smiling and swooning non-stop! The heroine is a single mom and one of the most heart-warming things ever was seeing the way this hero so openly and completely welcomes her son into his heart. It was just gorgeous!! Not to mention that the romance was HOT HOT HOT and the story was surprising, well-written, and full of deep feels! And it's worth mentioning again that there is some serious swooooooooooon going on so if you're looking for a new book to read, this is a top recommendation!

LOL!!! So this book begins with the mortified heroine sitting, or rather standing, in the doctor's office thanks to a fishhook lodged firmly in her buttcheek thanks to an unlucky fishing incident with her son. To compound her embarrassment, the sexy British Dr. Dreamy makes her heart pound in a way that doesn't help her compromised state. But a few pun-laden minutes later and the whole thing was, what she thought would be, a distant memory.

Wrong.

She thought she'd never see him again, but three months later their paths crossed again in the most unexpected of ways. After the death of her husband, she was struggling to pay the bills and decided to rent out her renovated inlaws suite to help out, her friend had recommended someone to help with the bills, and a few days later her very own Dr. Dreamy was moving into her home much to both of their complete shock (but not disappointment)...

“This is just as much a shock to me as it is to you.”
“Then how did you recognize me so fast? I wasn’t even facing you.”
“You were down on the ground with your buttocks in the air. I would recognize that are anywhere.”
Utter embarrassment consumed me. “Oh, really…”
“Your derriere precedes you, luv.”

Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland have individually and collaboratively written some of my favorite books over the last couple years. They do a fantastic job of blending their writing styles and you absolutely can't tell that more than one person wrote this book. I've read several of their books by now and for the life of me, I can never tell who wrote what part of these joint books lol.

On the surface, Simon seemed like a commitment-phobic playboy with a wild streak who not only didn't want kids but was also planning to leave the country to go back to England at the end of his residency. But underneath all of that, there were so many moments that showed the real man he was -- a good, kind-hearted savior who was just guarding his heart. He was afraid of hurting someone or being hurt and was, in his own way, trying to do the right thing.

“What made you decide to become a doctor?”
He kept steeping his tea and staring into his cup until he looked up at me and said, “I have an unhealthy and incessant need to save people, I guess.”
That was sort of an odd answer.
“You wanted to be like a real-life superhero?”

Bridget was understandably wary of Simon's flirtatious advances. Not only was she uncertain if she was ready to begin a new relationship after losing her husband, but she was also wary about bringing a new man into her son's life. But she couldn't deny the pull she felt towards him.

“I’m just messing with you, luv, relax. I like watching your cheeks change color when you’re embarrassed.” I winked. “Both cheeks.”
She shook her head. “I think we need to set some ground rules.”
I sipped my tea. “Alright. I like rules. Without them, breaking them isn’t nearly as much fun.”

Eventually they couldn't deny their attraction. They tried to stay away from each other but the sexual tension between kept building and building until neither one of them could resist any longer and let me tell you... things got HOT HOT HOTTTTTT!!! Smoking hot!! But I really loved that the story took the time to really build up that tension because it made their physical relationship not only sexy but also quite meaningful because you understood what a big deal it was for both of them respectively.

“Talk to me, Bridget. What’s going on in that head of yours?”
“I’m scared.” I finally manage to croak out.
“That makes two of us. I’m fucking terrified.”
“What if it doesn’t work out, Simon?”
“What if it does?”
“What if you’re miserable here in the States and go back home in a few months?”
“What if I stay forever and we’re happy?”

But outside the bedroom, there we had Simon afraid of falling for her, Bridget unsure if she could allow herself to fall for him, and in the midst of everything was an exuberant little nine-year-old boy who was growing more and more attached to his mom's new tenant each day.

It was sweet and utterly heart-melting watching Simon and little Brendan grow closer each day. Even though the romance was hot, sexy, and addictive and as much as I loved seeing Simon and Bridget's relationship develop, some of the deepest feels in this story came seeing her son bonding with the first father figure he could fully remember.

“He’s going to fall in love with you, Simon. Are you going to be able to return it? Can you really love someone else’s son?”
I told her the absolute truth. “I already do.”

I really love that all of Penelope and Vi's books have these little unexpected twists in them. I don't know why I never expect them -- looking back, they're actually always very well constructed and I probably should anticipate them but yet each time they surprise me and I love that! It just give the book that extra oooooomph of awesome and makes your heart race even more. In this book's case, I loved the way Simon and Bridget handled this revelation and the way, when their new relationship was truly put to the test for the first time, they handled it with such maturity.

And OH MY GOD. Simon's speech at the end is seriously worth reading the entire book just to get to that one moment. I mean, I loved the whole book but that speech was WOW!! Few things are as sexy as a man who not only unconditionally loves his woman but is also proud to stand up for her no matter what. Pure. Fucking. SWOON.

This book is written in first person from dual POVs in alternating chapters. It's a complete (full length) standalone and is not connected to any other book written by either author.

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again -- Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are two of the very best romance authors I've ever read. Their stories are addictive, sexy, and full of heart. They're well-written and each one has a unique twist that makes its story stand out. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an amazing book to fall in love with. It's a new top recommendation and one of my favorite books of the year!!

Rating: 4.5+ stars!! Contemporary Adult Romance, standalone.

*Coughs* A British Doctor with a wicked dirty sense of humour *coughs* I need an examination now!!

DEAR BRIDGET, I WANT YOU: is a stand-alone, full-length, romance novel, which is
co- written by ‘Penelope ward & Vi Keeland’ in this we meet Dr Dreamy Simon Hogue (Twenty-nine) with the sexy British accent and widowed single mum Bridget (Thirty-five) and her son Brendan ( Eight years old).

We're first introduced to Bridget as she walks the hall of shame down a hospital hall that isn't the one she works at, she vetoed the idea of getting anyone of the doctors where she works to help her situation because she knows she'd get teased endlessly.

For one she’s wearing Tuesdays knickers when it’s Friday, and if that’s not the worst thing she has a fish hook stuck in her rear end that has to be removed. Oh the joys of teaching her son to fish came around and bit her in the butt.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Then not thinking the situation could get any worse thirdly it had to be one of the most handsome men Doctors she’d ever met that had to remove the hook made her day even worse.

More than the tip is in your arse, and it looks like it's got a long shaft.

The laughs in are never ending.

Months later struggling to make ends meet she decides to rent out her vacant in-law apartment which is adjacent to her house, the last person she expected to rent it to was Simon for short term whilst finishing up his residency stunt before heading back home to the States.

The sexy, blond, god of a doctor whom I'd masterbated to for weeks after the fish hook incident...was now my roommate.

Neither are looking at becoming involved, Simon is happy to be carefree and unattached, a relationship and kids aren't on his cards anytime in the future and Bridgett still feels like it's too soon even though it's been two years to get involved with anyone after her husband's passing.

This threw out all the feels, the giggles were endless, the swooning over the what I could imagine his accent would sound like, and you can always guarantee going into anything co-written by these two is the lighthearted unique story they will deliver time and time again.

The only reason why I'm giving this 4 stars and not 5 is I felt like it was too drawn out, longer than what it really needed to be, other than that I really really enjoyed this one!! I didn't know what to expect going into this, but I came away loving these three characters.

Unpopular opinion.
Dear Bridget, I Want You started out so good and went down the hill so fast. I enjoyed the first 20% where Bridget meets Simon and I definitely had a few laughs. The story was too fast paced for my taste and I couldn't feel an emotional connection between them. I could easily feel their attraction to each other but it never went deeper. Their sexual chemistry was great and there was certainly some memorable scenes but I never connected with the characters or the story. The last 20% was too cliche and over the top that I actually rolled my eyes at how predictable it was. For who Simon was and what he wanted out of life, I felt it was too fast how he changed his mind and all of sudden wanted everything with Bridget. I needed more development from Simon and Bridget but definitely also from the story.
This wasn't my cup of tea and perhaps I just expected too much. Don't listen to me.
Read it for yourself.

To be honest I didn’t plan on reading this book.
But then I found out, that the heroine was older, and put it on my TBR shelf.

It’s a shame there are almost no books with older women;
females getting younger and younger *sigh* and males getting older, so that we’d read not only “daddy-kink”, but apparently “granddaddy-kink” someday.

Why? I personally find it good, when a woman is older.
It perfectly works in real life, why not in romance?

Gender equality, ladies and gentlemen!

I didn’t particularly liked this book till about 60%; the last 40% saved it for me and increased my rating from 2.5 to 3.5 stars with click at 4.

I absolutely loved that the h was a bit older; she was 34/35, he was 29/30. Despite some insecurities from her side and “light” judgment from some side characters, it was played nice.

The heroine was a strong but vulnerable woman.
Not a doormat!
And I guess I need to thank VK, that they didn’t make her suffer.
One of the reasons I stopped reading PW’s books – she drags her hs through hell and back.
It wasn’t a case here! Thank you, Vi!

The hero was only ok for me from 0% to 55/60% and good-to-amazing later.
I adored how he cared for her son, their scenes together were sweet and touching.
He won me over at the end. From the moment he finally made up his mind and stood by the woman he loved, he was a real man and had me on his side.

Get your copy and read this book!

Further spoilers are mostly for safety-gang-ladies and my friends, who share my triggers.

OMG, this book is kind of a patchwork, made up of some good, wonderful and some bad and awful patches. How very strange! I cannot say that the book is all good or all bad but I can say that – for example – Chapter 1 is horrible but Chapter 25 is quite good.

It is hard to rate this kind of a book but it is unfortunately nothing more than 2,5 stars for me... not even 3.

***

THE PLOT:

This is Bridget & Simon’s story.

Bridget is a nurse. She is a widow with a 9-year old son. She is 34.

Simon is a hot British doctor who is 29 years old. He is single and never married.

I like it when the guy is a bit younger... I like most non-traditional things, though, this is my nature. I hate the clichés!

Bridget and Simon first meet at the hospital where Simon works. Bridget goes there for the fish hook that is stuck in her butt. This first encounter caused me to immediately dislike the book because there was a creepy conversation during the treatment.

Whatever...

3 months later, Simon magically ends up being her roommate and the resident in the hospital where she works. From then on, there is a push and pull between the two.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK:

1. I DISLIKED all the cliché happenings in it.

• Bridget feels guilty because of falling for a guy very deep after her husband’s death and to make it easier for her, our beloved writers make the dead husband I say, "Bullshit!"

• One day Bridget faints on her bathroom naked when she and Simon are only room mates. When she is trying to stand up after coming to herself, he enters the bathroom just as her naked ass is up in the air and her hands are on the floor! Such a cliché embarrassing situation for a female. Having been caught at a vulnerable position! What is the contribution of this scene to the story? Did anyone find it funny or hot or what? I found it frustrating.

• There are other moments like the ones above, where the heroine is put in an embarrassing position, like for example her boob coming out of her dress when she bends down and her boyfriend’s father witnessing this “boob show”!
And how necessary was that? What did it serve?
If the writer(s) were male, I would think that he/they had some rage against the female kind but two brilliant female writers are doing this for God’s sake? And why? I have no idea!?

• The hero hooks up with a nurse at the hospital casually before he starts a relationship with our heroine. When our heroine later calls that nurse “a skank”, I had trouble understanding why. It was OK for her to sleep with him but it wasn’t OK for the other nurse to do the same? Why slut-shaming?

• Bridget writes a letter (of a dirty/erotic kind) to Simon, puts it in an envelope and writes Simon’s name on it but she doesn’t intend to give it to him. (It is like the gun we see in a drawer in a film. If we see the gun in a drawer, that means the gun will later be used in the film). So if a letter is signed with Simon’s name on it, it will somehow end up in Simon’s hands, that is for sure. And of course this embarrassing letter is taken to Simon by Bridget’s own son, Brendan. Huh, supposed to be funny or what? So cliché!

By the way, I was pissed at Simon for his inappropriate behavior and his “butt jokes” when they first met while he was taking the hook out of her buttocks but Bridget’s letter, in which she wrote how she fantasized his fingers in her as* and his d*ck in her vagina at that very first encounter, I said, “Hi pot, meet kettle”...

2. I DISLIKED ALL THE JOKES in the book.

Here are some examples:

“So, I hear you want to show me your bum, and I’m not even going to have to buy you some dinner first?”

***

I’d had a bag of leftover chicken dinner sitting on the passenger seat. Maybe Bridget would want some. Ringing the doorbell might have woken Brendan, so I opted to knock on her window. She’d been reading on the couch and jumped up to let me in.
When she opened, I lifted the bag of chicken. “Care for some cock?”

***

“Give me my book.” I smirked.
“Reach it.” Bridget was tiny. I’d guess a good foot shorter than me. There was no way she was reaching the book, even if she jumped.
Her hands went to her hips. “Simon Hogue. Give me my book or else.”
“Or else, what?”
“Or else…so help me, I’ll climb you like a tree and get that book myself.”
Maybe I should have gone home with Brianna and gotten my fill…because I sort of fancied the thought of Bridget climbing me like a tree. “You’re welcome to climb me, luv, but be careful, some trees have thick wooden branches and you could get poked.”

OK, there are many cheap jokes like the ones above and rather than making me smile or laugh, they just annoyed me.

I couldn’t like Bridget or get connected to her all through the book. However, despite my instant dislike for Simon, I got to like him a bit after %60 of the book.

I LIKED Bridget’s son, Brendan. He was a sweet boy.

I LIKED the evolution of Simon throughout the book. He gradually turns into a perfect man to be with from a pervert doctor and an annoying guy with awful jokes.

I LIKED the speech Simon gave about

I said the book was a “patchwork” of the good and the bad, right? And this speech was the best part of the patchwork!

However, I had difficulty in believing how Simon's attraction->lust->love for Bridget changed his mind about what he wants in life so quickly. His whole idea about the future he wanted made a "U turn" (from a single life with no child in England to a married life with 3 children living in the USA).

MY (most probably a very annoying) QUESTION TO THE WRITERS:

These two people, I mean Bridget and Simon, are sexually attracted to each other from the very beginning. It is made clear that “sex” and “their sexual chemistry” is what dominates their relationship.

So, my dear writers, why do you have to turn them into a large family with 3 children without even giving them even a year or two together on their own, cherishing their life?

Brendan is a big kid who can stay with his grandmother or his friends from time to time so they can enjoy their relationship while Brendan is around. So why do you have to put the infertility treatment, 9 months of pregnancy, two more children (babies) to care about into this “supposedly very sexy” relationship of the couple? This wasn’t an emotional love story after all. It was a sexual attraction they couldn’t resist from the very beginning.

And I also wonder...

Does every couple have to have a baby to live happily ever after?
I believe the opposite.
But if you believe so, at least you can make the couple mention about having children later – maybe after a few years? Why do you have to show that they have now become a family with their own children, so their relation is safe? Why rub it in our faces? If they are happy now with many plans for their future, isn't it a happy end already? Did Bridget and Simon have to be a large family so soon?

This is what you are trying to do, right? Tell us that they are now unbreakable because they have children?

Oh, bullshit! Come on, her dead husband and Bridget had a child of their own but he still

I am the child of a very unhappy couple. Did I save their marriage? Was I able to? However much I tried? Nope!

A child is never a guarantee of a relationship or a marriage and I am sick of writers making every couple pregnant before the book ends without giving them any time alone to enjoy their relationship so that the readers believe their happily ever after.

Nothing is guaranteed in this life, don’t you know that?

I’d really prefer if writers could make their love stories a little bit less obsessed with the notion of “being married with 2,5 children” so that the lovely couple looks strong enough not to be broken! A plan of having children would be more than enough for me.

I am really pissed when the writers do not give the happy couple much alone time. You know you can never take back this alone time, right? It happens once. And when you have children, you are never on your own as a couple... So let them cherish this time, please... pretty please...

I think I like series where we see the children of the happy couple of Book 1 in the forthcoming books maybe in Book 2 or 3, never becoming the focus of Book 1.

OK, rant over... You are off the hook! Pun intended :))))

P.S. Everyone writes their subjective opinion in their reviews and this is my subjective opinion. Writers should be aware of the fact that women like me exist, I mean women who never try to have children because they want to stay lovers with their husbands or because they never want the responsibility of having children. Not everyone wants to be a mother or a father.

But even if I had ever wanted to have a child, I sure as hell would have waited for a few years to enjoy my time alone with my husband.

So can you please also think of the women like me while writing your books, dear writers?

5 Magic Duo Has Done It Again Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free
Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland have the Magic Touch... They also have Magic Dialogue and Story Lines. Hell, it seems like everything they put their minds to... Works.

I seem to be a little late to the party... finding out about this release after it has hit the feed... so I am just going to say a couple of things.

This story premise may seem all fun and games... cute and sexy with a Dirty Talking British Doctor, a Nurse/Mother who is a widow with an 8 year old son and the connection they feel.

But it is so much more.

This has layers on layers... and it all mainly worked. I loved that it wasn't just a cute romance, had a couple of hiccups and then Hocus Pocus, everything was perfect and they all lived happily ever after...

I liked that there were challenges like in real life...where it is hard to accept love, where we are afraid out of our minds to love again...Where we wonder what if...

So for me...I loved the read... Go and enjoy other reviews more detailed... or go into it like I did with very little information...

Because all you need to know is it was done by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland and that says it all.

~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
Dear Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland,
Yup... I did that...Cheesy to copy your title, you bet...
But I am very excited about such a blatant calling out from our guy to the woman who is equally interested in him...
So I will be digging in to see what this is all about...
and
Knowing how terrific all the past projects you both have done...
I am just wanting to let you know...I am in your corner...
Sincerely,
Wendy'sThoughts
"The greatest risk is not taking one."
Another one to say, I loved it. This author duo is amazing. I've enjoyed every book they've done together and I can not wait until the next❤️
I loved Simon. I loved his passion, his determination, his compassion not only for Bridget but for Brendan too. I loved his want for happiness, his need to see Bridget happy, and I adored the way he protected her. Couldn't make a more perfect person for Bridget. He was pretty flawless and definitely charming.
Bridget, oh Bridget how I loved you. You are strong, you've lived through heartache like no other, and you're thrown a lot more in this book. Your protectiveness, your desire to honor your life, and the love that you have to give is admirable. It was fun to watch her fall in love, it hurt to watch what she endured in respects to her past, and my heart melted to see what she gained.
Definitely a sweet read💗
5 'My luv' Stars!
I completely understand why Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland say Simon is their favorite hero to date. Every time these two wonderful authors get together it's pure magic because they give their readers exactly what we want: a story with complex and lovable characters, lots of sexual tension and crazy chemistry, some drama and mysteries and, of course, all the feels!
Dear Bridget, I Want You is this duo's newest standalone release and it tells the love story between a sexy British doctor and his new roomate (who he happened to already met in a VERY interesting situation). Bridget is a young widow with a cute eight year old who feels guilty when she starts having feelings for her younger roomate. In a mix of friendship, sexual tension, secrets, a very cute little boy and LOTS of chemistry, Bridget and Simon can't stop themselves from falling in love.
What they say about wanting what you can’t have is apparently true. For some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.
Of course, you already know what I am about to say: these two women writing together are just OUTSTANDING. Their stories feel SO real and their characters are so well-developed that you connect instantly with them. That is what makes the books written by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland so good. Bridget and Simon are another fantastic addition to the couples created by them.
I was more afraid of losing you than I was of finding you.
What I love most about Dear Bridget, I Want You is, of course, the main characters (as individuals and as a couple). Bridget is a lovely woman who will do anything for her adorable child, a woman that is still scared to love again but there is no possibility for her not to fall in love with the hero. Simon.. Simon, Simon, Simon.. you sexy Brit! I want to be all over him! This man is sex on legs and so swoony that he will make you melt on your sit. Also, both characters have a vulnerability to them that will make you love to see how they heal together.
“You’re not enough, Bridget. Enough is the minimum amount that it takes to satisfy something. That doesn’t even begin to describe what you are—you’re everything. You’re not the fucking minimum—you’re the maximum.”
So yeah, it's pretty obvious that my rating is going to be high. I am giving Dear Bridget, I Want You 5 STARS because it was just an outstanding love story. Penelope and Vi are such a brilliant duo of writers and, of course, they did not fail with this novel. Simon and Bridget are definitely on my top favorite couples written by them! Highly recommend reading this one!
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:
Simon Hogue was a British doctor finishing his residency in Rhode Island. Knowing his stay was just temporary, he wasn't looking for any deep emotional relationship attachment. But somehow a woman had him hooked.
Bridget Valentine came with a baggage that most would avoid. She had other priorities in life than to get lost in superficial attractions. However, after years of being alone, she wanted to start living again even though she wasn't sure if she's ready to move on.
Whenever I read Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland's book, there's one thing for sure - I will be entertained. This book certainly lightened my dark heart lol!
I wanted to be back at home with Bridget in the worst way. Back at home with Bridget. What the fuck? It wasn’t my home. My home was in England.
I love Simon. He was charming and cheeky, and sexy in the way that makes you have a goofy smile.
It shouldn’t have happened, and yet I couldn’t turn my body off tonight, couldn’t stop thinking about him.
Bridget had more serious, matured personality, but it didn't mean she didn't know how to have fun. I like how she was responsible and nurturing.
I like the light, fun storyline. But in between those, there were also some sad and heartwarming moments. One thing I wish for more is the sexy time because I know the authors are capable in delivering some sexy scorchers lol!
I want you. Wrong as it may be… more specifically, I want to make you come. Hard.
Dear Bridget, I Want You is a story of a couple taking a chance in happiness. It would appeal to readers who enjoy light, fun reading with a dash of heart.
4.5 “OMG. LOVE.” Stars.
The dream team is back, you guys, with another hit novel that’ll own you from the first to the last word. This story had me hooked. Completely. I’m honestly so impressed with Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland. These authors are two of the most incredible writers around. If you’re looking for a quality read, a well-written novel with heart and heat, these two are guaranteed to deliver. Whether they’re writing books separately or together, it doesn’t matter, they’re masters of their craft, always telling a story that’ll win you over. To say I’m impressed is an understatement. To say I’m a fan would be putting it lightly. I’m completely consumed by their books, which feel like pure bookish magic to me.
Bridget Valentine is a widower, a single mom, and a nurse. Her top priority in life is her son, and it shows in everything that she does. Bridget is a dedicated mom and one of those characters you will immediately fall in love with. Sweet and funny, authentic and totally relatable, there wasn’t a single thing about this girl that I didn’t love.
Simon Hogue is in his last year of medical residency. Originally from the UK, he’s living in the US with plans to return home after finishing school. Simon is a charmer. From the second you meet him, you’re completely smitten with his smooth talking, dirty mouth. But even though Simon is one heck of a playboy, behind that exterior is a soft hearted man that’s downright dreamy.
Simon and Bridget’s meet cute is absolutely hilarious. HILARIOUS. I laughed out loud. And that funny continued throughout the book. The smile on my face, the tingling in my belly, the excitement that hit me whenever these two were in the same place was the absolute BEST. They had chemistry you could feel and it was intoxicating.
Dear Bridget, I Want You was delicious. A slow building romance that’ll have you holding your breath, swooning and wanting. Fate intervenes in Simon and Bridget’s life, forcing them together after their initial meeting, in the most fantastic way. Not only do they end up working at the very same hospital, but Simon becomes Bridget’s roommate! From there a friendship is formed as fun, flirty, witty banter ensues that’ll have you blushing and dying over just how cute these two are. Simon and Bridget are truly the best.
From the beginning to the end, I loved this book. I felt like everything flowed perfectly. And as usual, Vi and Penelope slayed it with twist that I did NOT see coming! (I seriously did not see that coming. At all. Ever. Not at anytime, hahahaha)! It was unreal. Overall, I can’t say enough good things. I’m still trying to recover from the swoon that overcame me as I read this standalone romance. It was cute, funny, sexy, heartfelt, everything that makes for a perfect book. I absolutely recommend it and I can’t wait for you to meet this adorable couple.
4 ★'s
You can't go wrong picking up at Vi Keeland/Penelope Ward book and this is no exception. Plus, have you seen that cover? Definitely can't let this one pass you by.
Simon and Bridget meet when she ends up at his hospital with a fish hook in her rear. And as embarrassing as it is, he just has to amp that up by commenting on her day of the week panties. Bridget can't get out of there fast enough but much to her mortification, he shows up being her garage apartment tenant so she has to suck it up!
Simon, of course, is a doctor and a British doctor at that so Bridget doesn't stand a chance. Add in his all too willingness to help her out in every single way and his sexual innuendos and it's no wonder she's in trouble. They both try to fight it but we know it's no use...thank goodness.
Since he's going back to England and she's a widow mom of an eight year old son, they decide to quit fighting their sexual attraction and give in for a one time only romp. Naturally, this leads to a one day romp...and so on.
description
Feelings start developing, well, let me just say, they start developing even deeper but they are both hesitant. Luckily, when Simon is home on a trip to see his family, he comes to recognize the depth of his feelings and hightails it back to Bridget.
Then, some even bigger drama happens...I never even saw it coming until they talked about the event. Wow, just W.O.W....my heart really went out to Bridget but again, I loved how Bridget handled it and how much Simon supported her.
I really enjoyed these two...they were sweet, hot and funny! I also liked how much Brendan (Bridget's son) brought to the story and his relationship with Simon.
Oh, and remember the fish hook? Well, I may have mentioned that Simon was sweet but he really blew me out of the water with what he did with it!
The ending was perfection and basically my only problem was the lack of angst (as always). And I was a little sad that we didn't get a cameo of you-know-who! WTH?? (Or did I miss it?)
“Dear Bridget…
…What they say about wanting what you can’t have is apparently true. For some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.”
Well… if you’ve ever followed any of my reviews you would know that both Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are two of my absolute favorite authors; on their own they are great, but together they are unbelievable. Fireworks erupt anytime I read one of their collaborated stories…
description
Bridget is a single mother and widower. Her boy is her whole world and she has no hesitation stepping into both the mother and father roles in the raising of her son. When Bridget decides to take her son out to teach him how to fish, things don’t go as planned, and if there was a prize for the most embarrassing and mortifying first meeting between hero and heroine, then this would seriously have to be a contender. It was laugh out loud hilarious.
While trying to teach her son to fish, Bridget ends up in the E.R. with an embarrassing injury and as a nurse, there was no way she was going to go to the hospital where she currently works. To risk the ridicule her co-workers would sure to give her was not something she was willing to entertain.
Enter Dr. Dreamy with his smoking hotness and panty melting British accent. It was a kind of a double edge sword for poor Bridget; the doctor made her feel things she hasn’t felt for a long time, but she just wished it hadn’t been under these circumstances.
As a way to keep her family home and to pay the bills, Bridget decides to lease out the flat attached to her house… and who should she rent it to, none other than Dr Sexy Pants himself from the E.R, Simon.
Bridget and Simon soon develop a friendship mixed with a lot of flirtatiousness, sexiness and witty banter. I loved reading how their relationship developed and grew. The anticipation was almost too much too bear and I just couldn’t wait for these two amazing characters to give in to their desires. However, even though fate played a hand, Bridget had been through so much with the death of her husband and having to work hard to provide for both herself and her six year old son, would she let him in?
What I loved most about Dear Bridget, I Want You is that it was the perfect mix of humor, fun, emotion, angst and steam. I found it incredibly hard to put down and I still maintain that these two authors are some of my favs for a reason. I would recommend this story to… EVERYONE. Definitely check this one out, you won’t be sorry you did.
Absolutely sexy with a bunch of sweet, touching and OMG I didn't see that one coming moments. It was impossible to put this story down!
Simon Hogue was just looking of a place to stay while he finished his residency in the U.S. before he went back to England. He never expected the attraction he feels for his landlord nor the growing feelings that develop between him and Bridget, much less the attachment between him and Bridget’s nine year old son. He knows he’ll be leaving and it would be wrong to pursue her, but he’s still hopeful that her attraction is just as strong as his.
A widow at 34, Bridget wanted to supplement her income by renting out her converted garage. She never would have guessed she’d be cohabitating with the hot, young new doctor working at the same hospital. The same man she can’t keep her eyes off, who makes her laugh, smile and blush because everything that comes out of his mouth is a sexual joke. But the chemistry between them is no laughing matter. Can they find a way to ignore it or will they end up with broken hearts when the time comes for Dr. McSexy to leave?
“The sexy, blond, god of a doctor whom I'd masterbated to for weeks after the fish hook incident...was now my roommate.”
Dear Vi and Penelope, I love your books! I love that this one started out hilariously funny and sexy with delightful banter full of sexual innuendo (what do YOU think Simon was talking about in the following quote? It isn’t what you think!!), then turned to sweet and sexy and then moved to touching, thoughtful and swoony.
“More than the tip is in your arse, and it looks like it's got a long shaft.”
Delivered with an effortless pace, a wonderfully developed plot and easy to love characters. I was hooked with their story from the get-go. Simon was irresistibly charismatic with his quick wit, dirty British mouth and big thoughtful heart. Bridget, even though a bit more mature had equally charming personality, easy to relate with.
“I finally realized that I was more afraid of losing you than I was of finding you.”
It wasn’t easy for them to find their groove, after all they had very different goals but as some wise person once said “sometimes on the way to the dream you get lost and find a better one.” And I certainly loved the journey these two characters embarked on.
Dear Bridget, I Want You is a standalone romantic comedy by the wonderful duo by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. It is a fun, sexy and touching story, it's a fast and easy to read with all the feels. A must for Keeland-Ward fans and any romance lover who is looking to get lost in a story that will make you smile and feel. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.
These two authors have quite the reputation to their writing duo and this book definitely did not fail them. In true Penelope and Vi fashion, we're gifted with a funny and charming intro with a swoony hero who is quite hard to ignore off the bat. Not that we'd want to, of course. Immediately, you get the warm fuzzy type feelings from the writing and can't wait to see how the story is going to progress. From here, they dive right in with the plot and characters, never wasting time or words. These ladies are right to the point with their books and I love it.
"Love makes you stronger, not weaker.”
If I had to describe this story in one word, it would simply be cute. Everything about this is cute. The hero, Simon, is cute. The heroine, Bridget, is cute. Brendan is cute. The main couple working together is cute. The first two accidental meetings were cute. Are you catching a theme here? Overall, it's just the type of story to put a smile on your face and make your heart happy. Even the fact that this book is Bridget starting to move on with her life and open herself up again, it was done in a (dare I say) cute way. And I'm sorry, but Simon? Hello swoony! Excuse me doctor, I'm feeling a little short of breath. Could you give me mouth to mouth?
The expression on my face must have looked like a mixture of terror and amusement. At least, that was how I felt. “Simon…”
“Come on. I promise. I’ll be serious. We can have Storytime with Simon. Sit back with your wine and I’ll read to you.”
Oh my God. He was serious.
I think you get the gist of what I'm saying, but just in case, I'll mention it one more time. This is a feel good type of book. It's not messy or angst riddled, but it's also not fluff either. The perfect in between. It was also a fairly quick read, and given these two thoughts, I don't know how memorable it might be in the long run, but definitely a strong contender for a "Books Everyone Should Read" type of list.
“It’s true that the greatest risk may be not taking one. But a risk is taking a chance when you have the potential to gain or lose something in the future. When that future is certain that you’re going to lose that something—it’s not taking a risk, Simon. It’s jumping out of a plane without a parachute and expecting to land on your feet anyway.”
Getting farther along, this book had a fantastic twist. Just a little question for those out there who have read this: did you see that coming? Because I did NOT! And I love to guess plot twists. I never even suspected it. I was reading on my lunch break at work, in my own little blissful, ignorant world, and all of a sudden I had an epiphany. I'm like, "wait, no. What I'm thinking can't be true. That wouldn't happen. Would it? Could it? No!" But then, much to my dismay, it did indeed happen. I was shocked. Great twist though, I love how the characters dealt with it and how it changed the dynamic of the story.
“Number four—must dislike Celine Dion.” I looked up at him. “What’s wrong with Celine?”
“She annoys me.”
“Her singing?”
“Nope. Just her, in general.”
I know there are going to be many, many five star reviews for this book and that's amazing! This book deserves those. Personally. For me to rate a book as 5 stars, it has to move me in some way. This is a good book, it's fun and cute and the hero is definitely a swoony one, but in my own world, it wasn't an earth shattering read and wasn't in love with it. But nevertheless, it's absolutely a solid 4.
Awwww this was soo adorable and funny!
And of course a bit moving and sad and exciting too!
But mostly it was hilarious! You can't help but laugh out loud as soon as Simon opens his mouth. What comes out of that naughty mouth .... hilarious!
But he's also an amazing doctor and just such an amazingly nice person. I loved him. Just like I loved Bridget and Brendan!
We have this instant attraction on both sides, but both are scared to start something serious - for different reasons. But sometimes you have to risk something .... will our two darlings do that??? Who knows. ☺ And the past is also not yet finished with either of them - so we might have a long way to go until we'll get our happily ever after!
BUT - we love every single moment of that journey!
Amazing romance! I wouldn't mind seeing it on tv one day ☺☺☺
If I had to name some things I didn't like? Just some tiny little things. Don't worry. Nothing bad - I LOVED the book!
The way Vi & Penelope mention that Bridget's a widow? It was just thrown in there - not even a new paragraph. Just plob. That felt way too heartless! I know it's ok to write it like that when the dead hubby was a bad guy - then it's totally ok when we talk about him a bit negatively, but we don't know in the beginning of the book if he was an amazing guy or a criminal or a wife beater or whatever - so, for me, it felt heartless whenever he was mentioned.
Also - the english-ness is sometimes a bit too exaggerated and sometimes forgotten. Simon sometimes speaks way too british and then - as if the authors forgot he was british - they let him use way too many american words and expressions - and not on purpose :/
Another tiny thing. I missed Simon meeting Brendan in the beginning. I would've loved to be there for that. I loved all those later moments between them. But still - amazing book!!!! ☺
DEAR BRIDGET was such an adorably hilarious & sexy & sweet & moving Romance! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Simon - this doc & his sexy accent ... MINE!!!! ☺☺☺
P.S. for those asking ...
There is no point in boring you with gruesome details like “Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are the best team ever” bla, bla, because I believe I’ve already expressed myself in more than various ways about this matter:)) All their books are amazing and with a strong message. In every book you have to love something, like the plot, the characters or the awareness it raises about certain aspects.
In “Dear Bridget, I want you” I loved the characters, but I was more drawn to the plot than everything else. At first sight, the action is very simple. Bridget, a nurse, meets Simon, a resident doctor, and fell in love. Bridget is 5 years older than Simon and besides that, she is a widow with a kid, so a lot of baggage is taken into this relationship. The whole book describes their steamy and ardent passion, the way they want to stay away, to deny this attraction, but of course, all will be in vain. The problem is that our couple has different objectives in life: Simon wants to finish his residency and go back to England. Besides that, he doesn’t want a family, having some traumas and guilt of his own. Bridget has to take care not only of her heart, but of her son. She can’t fall in love with Simon, because her son will get attached to him and if things won’t progress, then both of them will get heart broken. BUT, of course things will change soon.
So, as a general idea, this is the main plot. What I liked most of it is the message behind it. Penelope and Vi write about so many difficult subjects and I have to say that I’ve never read a book with this topics ( weird right?). What do you do when the woman you love is older than you and with a son? How do you treat them? Do you love her son as your own? What if your parents start to talk and are not happy with your choices? These are only some topics that were discussed by Simon and Bridget and I loved every aspect of this story because the focus was surely put on them.
You will fall in love with Simon and his dirty mouth, his charming ways and slowly transformation towards being a familist. Bridget will confuse you sometimes, but she is an excellent mom and will be an excellent lover for Simon. Their love story is beautifully blended with his focus topics and the final result will delight you. I strongly recommend it for all romance lovers out there and consider it, truly, a life lesson.
These are two amazing authors, but I have to confess that the real reason I wanted to read this book was the cover because HOT DAMN !!!
The moment I started reading this one, I was laughing out loud. Their first encounter has got to be one of the funniest "meeting" scenes ever :P
The second Dr. Simon opened his mouth, I knew I was gonna love him....and lust after him ;)
A weird accident has landed Bridget's ass in the ER...literally. Being a nurse herself, she decides to go to a different hospital, to prevend gossip about her embarrassing injury. She wasn't prepared for Dr. Dreamy though.
Dr. Simon is young, handsome and freaking hilarious and she can't help but be enarmoured by the man....then again...who wouldn't be.
Being a single mom has not been easy for Bridget. Her husband died two years ago and if she wants to keep her house, she needs some extra income. Renting out her in-law apartment seemed like the perfect solution. So imagine her surprise, when he turns out to be her new tenant.
That's not all though. He is also finishing the last year of his residency, at the hospital where she works as a nurse.
Guess they will be spending some quality time together ;)
These two become fast friends, but the sexual tension between them is extremely thick. Simon really wants in Bridget's pants, but he has nothing to offer her, except some awesome sex. He is leaving after his residency after all.
Bridget has never been the type to have a fling. She also has a son to think about so even though she is extremely attracted to him, she is also very wary.... But we all know how the saying goes...
When Simon says.... you do it :P
Menudo chasco. Con este libro me ha pasado lo mismo que con Mr. Moneybags... me he divertido a ratos pero también me ha hecho girar los ojos hasta el infinito y más allá. Qué manía de meter drama porque si y ¿ese final? Tope romántico hasta que dice esa guarrada máxima que no venía a cuento. Argggg.
Overall a good read. Would I read it again? Likely not.
The Good:
Hero is great, even tho he's too much of a smart ass to begin with. Nothing but sexual innuendos on the brain. I've never liked those kinds of smart asses, not in real life and I certainly don't like seeing them in my "escape life." But the Hero grows and shows how great he is, but that's also sort of an issue, see below.
The Mixed.
There is actual story. I was sort of imagining this to be sex every other page, but there's actually not a whole lot of drawn out sex (which is also a problem, since it disappoints my expectations). While there's plent instances of sexual activity, the descriptions themselves aren't all that...igniting. I've read a LOT better sex scenes in other books.
The heroine, while likeable and relatable, didn't really have to grow with the Hero much. It was all him bending over backwards for her, not the other way around. She's just being her, that's all. The only thing she did differently, is go a little wilder in sex with him. So I didn't think it was an equal relationship in that sense.
Then there are the stuff that's like - why did you put it in there?? Just to show how great the Hero is? Like the obnoxious parents. The not so great dead husband. These things didn't do anything but serve to make the Hero even more heroic. I think those pages could have been better spent developing the heroine some more.
And like I said in my notes - I felt like the Brit accent, the way he spoke, wasn't terribly believable. If one or both the authors are British, then OK, my bad. But having lived in London, I just somehow don't buy it.
So, 3.5 to 3.75 stars. I rounded up.
I'm just angry I chose this book to be my 100th read of this year. What a waste.
So far, all the books Ward and Keeland wrote together were winners to me... until this book. It wasn't even enjoyable. It was boring from page 1 till the end and I didn't like the characters. I hate it when the hero and heroine first meet and the hero is downright unprofessional. The minute Simon (who's a doctor) and Bridget met (Simon was her doctor), Simon was unprofessional and flirtatious and that simply does not sit with me. Bridget was average and just meh.
Also, we get a reveal around the end of the book which pissed me to no ends because I hate this specific kind of reveal. I won't state it obviously because it's a spoiler.
Oh well.
Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland knew how to turn first embarrassing encounters into a fun-filled and sexy romance that will keep you interested until the end of the book. I dive into Dear Bridget, I Want You without expectations and just go with its flow. It's entertaining, cute and funny but I have a little issue on the male protagonist.
Bridget Valentine goes to the Emergency Room to remove a fish hook out of her butt and meets her love interest Dr.Simon Hogue and he's a sexy British resident doctor in charge. I'm embarrassed for Bridget but that scene was gloriously hilarious! Omg, if I were I don't think I can face him again. 😂🙈
Bridget is a nurse and raising a son on her own after her husband died in a car accident. She and Simon are mutually attracted with each other since their first meet up but she's fighting back her feelings for him. Things won't work out between them because he's a type of guy who isn't into long term relationship and he's almost done with his residency and for sure he'll return to U.K.. Plus, he might not be interested on a woman who has a kid already.
Dr. Simon Hogue is charming, flirtatious and has a great sense of humor. I love his confidence and I laughed so hard on his innuendos. He was a sweet and thoughtful guy. He really likes Bridget and her having a kid wasn't a hindrance to him. I really appreciate his kindness towards Brendan and they got along so well. Simon was the kind of guy who gets what we wants. The conflicts that came along tested their relationship and no matter what happens, Bridget is the one who captured his heart. The only issue I have with him was he moved /blurred the lines too fast on her. I wish there was more build up between them. Overall, it's a great read if you need a lighthearted book.
