A meteor storm barreling towards earth ignites a chain reaction of devastating events that will bring the world to its knees.

For the first time since his divorce, CJ will be able to take his son on a vacation. Along with his father, they make it a guys’ trip to the west coast. Little do they know their trip that is intended to be a lifetime of memories would include facing insurmountable odds.

The lack of warning leaves everyone in the dark about what has occurred and vulnerable to all that unfolds. It doesn’t stop with the meteors. The disastrous events come one after another, a domino effect of annihilation.

It isn’t just one place, it is everywhere. There’s nowhere to run. There’s nowhere to hide. Safety is a broken word. It doesn’t exist.

Like billions of others across the world, CJ and his family are thrust into a life full of catastrophic events.

Far from home, caught up in a whirlwind of a distraction, CJ soon discovers it’s not a matter of going anywhere…it’s a matter of staying alive until the events run their course - if that’s even possible.

4.5 stars. I love a great ‘surviving the apocalypse’ book. I can’t wait to read more of Jacqueline Duga’s work. It was fast paced, so much so that there didn’t seem to be much room for character development, but the events were in good detail. That’s what I like in an apocalypse book, good detailed events of disaster. I hope her other books are like that.

For those who love the Syfy disaster movies.

Are you a fan if the 2 hour disaster movies on the Syfy channel, Netflix or Amazon Prime? If so, this is the book for you! Meteors falling from the sky! Tsunami! Volcanos! A family in peril! Potentially vapid side characters that are neither vapid nor side characters!
This is a fun read, enough detail you can get caught up in the race but not so much that it becomes a science text. No romance either! Yay!
I have two drawbacks which is why i couldnt rate it higher. 1. This ends FAST. Way too fast. And 2. Too many story jumps without notice.

So many errors, so little time

This book is riddled with errors. Mostly wrong words. Apparently spellchecker was used, but grammar-check wasn't. For example, when a child drowned, 'he drown' was used, rather than 'he drowned'. These types of errors are consistent throughout the book
A series of large meteors strike the earth, setting off deadly tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanoes, including Yellowstone and Long Valley. (I was disappointed that they didn't include the supervolcano in New Mexico, the Valles Caldera.) There is a mass exodus from the affected areas, which is pretty much everywhere, but no one has any idea about where to go. And really, where would you go? The east coast is gone. The west coast is gone. Middle America is covered in ash. An ice age is coming.
Refuge camps are set up, but they are few and far between.
Results: The sheer number of errors caused me to subtract a star from my review, but honestly, this book is substandard. The author is generally better than this. It's a good idea, but not well executed.

The storyline was interesting which is the only reason I was generous with 2 stars. This book could not have been edited. Almost every page had spelling, word usage, typos and run on sentences saying the same thing two or three ways. No kidding - almost every page. The ability to put unedited junk for sale on Amazon (and other places I am sure) has resulted in way too many garbage books. Even if they are cheap - I get so sick of reading through all the errors. I have started highlighting and making the corrections which I send to Amazon. I am not sure if anyone ever actually reads those. I feel pretty compelled to finish a book once I have started it so I have read lots of these substandard, shoddy novels. For goodness sake folks - pay an editor before you publish a book! I will probably never read another book by this author.

The author does a good job of descriptive narration. The characters are believable and the story line does not bog down. That being said, it is difficult to enjoy page after page because of the non-editing. The author apparently didn't read the finished product.
There are many misused words, misspelling, and letters just plain left out.
It is like driving down a smooth highway and hitting speed bumps every half mile. The lack of editing is really distracting.

Serious lack of editing ruined this story...

The lack of editing and many grammatical errors were too distracting and came at the worst times to enjoy this story. I also thought Mindy was a very interesting character and more development and answers to some of her quirks would have helped. Like did she have a hidden disability like Autism, etc.

( Format : Audiobook )
"The human race is faulted but resilient."
At last, an apocalyptic book which does not rely on zombies or crazy gunslinging murderous crazies for the thrills. And such thrills.
As C.J., with his father (the oldest stoner in the state) and six years old son, Carlton, try to leave the hotel to fly back to D.C. and Carlton's mother after their first bonding holiday since his divorce some years before, they are delayed by the security team of a famous singer. Fearing that they will miss their flight, C.J.accepts the offered lift with the singer's entourage. It's whilst they are stuck in non-moving traffic that the first BOOM occurs, and then the earthquake. Something, a meteor?, was briefly seen in the sky. And so begins an incredible and terrible journey.Sent

The progress, or otherwise, of certain individuals is followed, as ever increasing areas of the U.S. are deemed unsafe and evacuation areas are declared. But without communications, personal or even governmental, it is difficult to know exactly what is happening and still less what to do. throughout the world only Russia was, apperently, reasonably unharmed. And the reluctant President found himself caught in a situation in which he could do little but watch and wait.

This book of apocalyptic proportions is truly terrifying as it could so convincingly happen. But it is an hopeful one, too, depending on people's fortitude, courage and the kindness of strangers when all else seems hopeless and destroyed. Not heros, just ordinary people doing what they can. The main characters develop with the story line and the reader is drawn into the book mainly by empathy with C.J.himself as he desperately tries to reconnect with his missing son. Sent

The narration by Andrew B.Wehrlein in is superb, perfectly paced, the text read with understanding and emotion but without histionics, thank goodness. His character voices are individually defined and appropriate, further aiding their emergence from the pages as real, living people for whom we care. An excellent performance, the narrator's style well suited to the book.

My deep thanks to the rights holder, from whom I received a freely gifted complimentary copy of Faulted, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. It was a powerful and engrossing (if scary) story of the ending of life as we know it. I can recommend it wholeheartedly to any reader other than a total gun freak who wants everyone shooting at anything that moves even if it is the last thing left alive. Sorry, none of that in this book. Instead, it's people trying as best they can to stay alive. I will be looking out for more books by this autbor..

Great book. LOOOOOOT of editing mistakes in the second half, not sure why. I'm used to Druga's books being poorly edited and I can usually look past it to focus on the story itself, but the last half was ridiculous. It read like she hurriedly typed it up then immediately turned it in for publishing. Words were misspelled, other times a different word was in place (like 'this' instead of 'their', or 'when' in place of 'what') and there were some sentences that just didn't make sense or were unfinished. It was really distracting, and completely unnecessary.

HOWEVER, seeing as how I paid $0.00 for this book through Kindle Unlimited, I will not remove a star based off poor editing (though seriously...get your shit together. Have someone, ANYONE help you edit. It really detracts from your stories).

All that aside though, I really enjoyed this story! There's non-stop action and this particular apocalypse is pretty damn terrifying. Character development suffered a bit, what with all the disasters and surviving that was going on, but between the two, I'd much rather read about death and disaster than the backgrounds of certain characters.

I've read a million of Druga's books. She's by far my favorite apocalypse author, and I'm about to start 'Rise'. If you can look past the shoddy editing, I absolutely recommend this and any other title by Jacqueline Druga. She really paints a picture of the end of the world!

The dinosaurs were supposed to have been wiped out by an asteroid hitting the earth could it happen again if so would we be ready? We read and listen to many authors tales of apocalyptic here is a new one that really could happen. The storylines are about the planet getting bombarded by asteroids and what effects it have on mankind. We have heard story's what if this or that happen well be ready while you listen to this audiobook you live the destruction of the planet but most of the story is in the US and see if humanity could or could not survive events like asteroids, super volcanoes and tsunamis and what the US would be like afterwards. This story you live the day by day of different individuals from both LA and Washington and the narrow escapes the experience to survive and to get to a safe area to try to survive because after super volcanoes blow the planet goes into a new ice age and most of the US is now covered with water and there is very little good land and the one who survive must try to start a new country from a destroyed country, the government collapsing, the president and most of the cabinet dead and Washington under water so where do you start.
This audible is written so well you live it and in someway feels the death of so many and the fighting spirits of the survivors.

This is a major apocalypse book in which meteors and/or small asteroids impact the Earth. Much of the west and east coasts of the United States are utterly destroyed. Earthquakes and tsunamis hit and, if that wasn't enough, Yellowstone erupts.

The characters are quite well done (and there's a reasonable number of them rather than a huge amount as some books have.) As expected, not all of these will survive. The descriptions of what happens physically and what happens to the characters is well done. This book could make a rather good movie.

The only question I have is this. It seems that Russia is not as badly hurt and they are able to provide some needed information yet I don't seem them actually cooperating in any way. The United States is, quite effectively, destroyed as a super power. Considering that Russia and China are both enemies of the United States then it would seem likely that they would leap to take advantage of the situation, perhaps attacking the U.S. to eliminate what remains or even attacking each other to achieve world domination. I think the author should have at least mentioned this possibility.

Still, that's a relatively minor point in a really good story.

Have you ever wanted to know the story of the average guy in the story of the end of the world, well here it is. Jacqueline Druga places you in the struggles of these characters as they journey to safety or to find family members. Covering multiple separate story lines the author carefully connects their stories as they meet up after traveling across the country and how we are at times the happiest where we end up at. She is also able to weave the personal pains that accompany complex family relationships. The reader is able to feel the pain and torment that is CJ's relationship with his son's mother. Andrew Wehrlen narration helps to paint the story to the listener that makes it easy to pick up separate characters, mood changes and how stressful racing from natural disaster to save your own life is.

This book was given to me for free at my request for my voluntary and unbiased review.

Great concept, characters but not all it could be

I really liked this book and its characters throughout the first half. It was a really interesting premise and well done. However, a little over halfway through something happened - I don’t know if the first half was proofed but not the second but it became almost unbearable (not just typos and misspellings but incomplete sentences and some things that didn’t even make sense). I didn’t want to give up though but to be honest that was a precursor to a rushed, trite ending that didn’t do the beginning of the book justice. I like this author’s work and almost didn’t say anything but it’s because I do like it I didn’t feel it was right not to say why I didn’t review it as highly as I would have initially.

She wrote another great one!

Jackie Druga always writes good books. I've read a good many of them. I read one before I realized just how good she is, and then I picked up another, and another until I found myself looking for just her books.

This book is about the scenario that scares me the most. Meteors, earthquakes, and tsunamis are all real things that could happen and do, in this book. You meet people who become your friends. And people you are rooting for to survive. Exactly the kind of story I love.

I would recommend this book to any fan of "end of the world" type stories. Jackie pulls you into the story and keeps you there until the last sentence.

I thought the story itself was good. The characters were likeable.
I felt like there was a lot of "fluff" added in to make the story longer. Instead of just having "filler" material, I would have liked to have seen a few more 'side stories' of other survivors. The few that were in there tended to give the reader a better overview of what was happening across the country.
My main drawback with the book though were all the typos and grammatical errors. There were so many that it took away from the reading experience. There were a few spots where it was so bad, I could not figure out what it was trying to say. Seemed liked there was no editing at all involved before publishing the book.

Pretty darn good 👍

I was hooked at a glance. I would have finished in one sitting if not for the need to charge my tablet.
Who'd have thunk it? Seems as though America was alone in getting destroyed, sucks for us.
I enjoyed the Kodak moment there at the end.
And whoop whoop, not one Zombie. Or vampire, or witch, or any of that other nonsense...big plus there.
It's a rarity to read a book this good without without all of the bells and whistles.

I really enjoyed this story. The plot was very solid and the characters very well done; all of them brought something to the story. Mindy, in particular, was a pleasant surprise. I had feared she was going to be like Paris Hilton in South Park, but she was knowledgeable, resourceful and kind. There were a few errors (like grammar, double negatives), but not as many as some of Ms Druga's other books. She excels at telling a good story and this was a great one.

Great book, I'd give it 5 stars except...

There are so many grammatical errors it's ridiculous. It's very obvious that spell check was run and that's it. Several wrong words per page sometimes. One page had a wrong word per paragraph. Not misspelled, just the wrong word, so spell check didn't catch them.
Author is very talented and this is still a story you should read. Please just send out an advanced reader copy so we can proofread it!

An enthalling read.

Faulted is a brilliant book to read. It's fast-paced and every page has so much happening. It is a true disaster book and it doesn't stop at one catastrophe there are countless devastating events everywhere. It's a simple story that hooked me from the beginning and I was disappointed when I finished it. The main characters CJ, with his son Carter and his dad Guy along with Mindy, are the best I absolutely adored them. I totally recommend reading it.

I enjoy your books

I just recently found this author and have read a handful of her books. The stories seem good. I’m always a bit disappointed in how quickly the books end. The story goes from detail to an epilogue suggesting all are living happily ever after.

The amount of typos and grammatical errors are huge. All of the books. You may want to consider someone who could edit better. I’d be embarrassed if I was the author. Does no one proof read?

This one felt way more emotional compared to the author’s other books I’ve read. Yeah, there were a few grammar and spelling slip-ups here and there, but honestly it didn’t bother me, I was too locked into the plot. It wasn’t quite as gripping as my earlier reads from her, but I still vibed with it loads. Lowkey wishing she gives us more of this. I’m not ready to let it go 'cos Tbh, Parker’s POV is my least fave, but I still wanna know more.

Good Read

The story was interesting without having to turn to moral depravity and wanton killing to tell the story. The characters were fairly believable, withstanding hardship and facing adversity head on. The biggest drawback was the editing. I found numerous errors which distracted from the smooth flow of the story.

Enjoyed it open to close.

Definitely a good read. I enjoyed it from open to close. My only complaint was all of the misspelled and wrong words. That being said, it in no way took away from the story.

I loved everything about this book. I love all her books I have read. Yes, needs some editing but doesn't detract at all for me.
Love her version of dystopian and apocalyptic books. More realistic.
On to the next one.
