We’re running blind toward a target we can’t see. Everything I love is on the line. My magic. My family. My Coven. Tennessee. I’ll lose it all at the strike of midnight on Samhain if I don’t put the pieces of this puzzle together.
Salem’s Prophecy says the fate of the world lies on mine and my twin’s hands. Despite our Coven-mates thriving power and Heavenly intentions...In the end, the task is ours. And ours alone. If we fail, terror and chaos will rain down on our realm so severe no one will be able to fight it. This is the battle of a lifetime - and the demons are attacking with everything they’ve got.
But I’m going to end this, even if I have to burn this city to the ground to do it.
The magic continues in The Aether Witch, the sixth book in the adventure-filled Elemental Magic series that’s leaving listeners begging for more!
FYI - I try not to give spoilers with my reviews. This is just my overall opinion of the book. So, Samehin is days away, but our twins find themselves in a sticky situation. Several familiar faces, and some unexpected new ones, pull together to help them overcome this particular obstacle in order to have a chance at fulfilling the prophecy. Further unexpected (yet known) visitors arrive right as midnight approaches, and they have information that puts the Coven's plan into question, But can they trust them? There's only a few minutes to decide: Right or wrong? Good or bad? Truth or lies? This is the final book in this series, but it is the end of the story? Were the able to close the Gap, and now they can all live happily ever after? Did they close the Gap only to create another problem? Or did they leave it open and now have to deal with the fallout? Guess you'll have to read it and find out for yourself.
This book continues the story in the series. It can not be read by itself - nothing, and I mean nothing, would make any sense.
This book is the original conclusion to the series where all the quests have lead to the big fight against the ultimate evil. Will they win? (that is a rhetorical question)
FYI - the author's style is to tell different in first person yet alternating who that person is. Sometimes overlapping the same scene but from another's eyes.
As I finished the last book, I thought the author did a decent job with the full series. There was enough romance (rated PG-13), there was action, lots of magic, family, etc. There were also enough open points that I want the answer to - so I just might have to read the other books about the same group.
In my top five favorite series, ever. The magic written on every page is captivating. I’m already jealous of everyone that will read this for the first time. Truly incredible from start to finish. I laughed, cried, gasped, and rooted for every member of the coven along the way.
So will we address the cronos sighting? That wasn't really addressed. Chutney may be my favorite character. She seems like a good, positive friend who has fun.
Also want to add that the writing from book 1 to this book has greatly improved. I can't wait to continue in this world.
The focus seems to shift in this book. No longer are we feeling the struggle between Tegan and Tennessee's bond. They embrace it fully and we see strength from that. I loved seeing Tegan and Tennessee come full circle in this one (and when you read it, you will know what I mean). I also relished the power the two of them have and their ability to understand their inner selves, and how that influences their choices (such as Tegan and the darkness). They're very dynamic characters. We also get more POVs, so we appreciate several of the cards on a deeper level, which I really enjoyed. The characters are very well written, and the Coven so strong, that learning personally about each one adds a lot of depth and layers to the story. I don't really want to give away any spoilers, but similar to other books of the series, it is very fast paced. The Cards aren't given a break from one prophecy to the next, and they are continuously thrown curve balls. There are new species additions to this book as well and I look forward to see how that dynamic plays out in future series, especially with Chutney. Even better? We get more of Emerson and Deacon.
What is there to say other than I LOVE THIS SERIES! Hands down, this is literally one of the best written series I have ever read. Not only is it very well studied, also the world building and plot are incredibly unique. The research and descriptions on Salem are extremely accurate and I love that the author took the time to perfectly illustrate the town of Salem, right down to the houses and streets, both today and three hundred years ago. I could see everything play out beautifully, vividly, and violently in my head like I was right there with them. The Cards and their gifts never get boring, and in this book we get to see their powers pushed to the extreme. They all reach beyond their comfort zone to fulfill the prophecy of the Salem Gap and I had no idea what was going to happen until the last page.
Overall it is an incredible book, and while it feels like an ending to a series, the plot and characters are set up perfectly for the beginning of a new one. The Cards have so much more to tell and do. Even now, with so many questions answered, there is still so much left to learn. I want more!
Wow !! Chandelle Lavun has an incredible talent. She has kept me totally engaged and committed to this storyline for 6 books. This is the first time this has happened for me. Plus I was so pleased at the end that this is not the end of the coven, only this particular storyline. And what a storyline this was. It was extraordinary how I could feel all the emotions of these Characters. I've cried with them and for them, my heart has broken over the loss they have endured, physical or emotional. I felt like I knew these Characters, I could envisage their faces, and actions. The world they lived in was realistic. From the very beginning of this storyline a love story began, amongst all the blood and death, amongst all the quests they had to fill, they was constantly against a clock. But this coven was a team, they supported each other through every single step. There is mystery, suspense, danger, darkness, grief alongside life, love, friendship and great one liners. This series has everything to keep you hooked and turning those pages as you can literally feel the magic. The Aether Witch showed us so much more depth in the Characters, i enjoyed getting to know them a bit more and great that Tenn & Tegan didn't have to hide their relationship, the book showed us the intensity of their feelings for each other. They all finished collecting the earth stones and now finally they need to change the world. I definitely recommend this series to any fantasy reader, it will take over your emotions, you will cheer for them, you will suffer with them. Chandelle LaVaun has transported me into another world, she made my world dissolve around me, she gives you originality, she can transcend traditional ideals. She has the ability to take over every thought you have. I can't wait to see where the rest of this series goes.
As part of my 2020 reading challenge, I want to start adding written reviews once I finish a novel. As this is the first one finished in 2020 - here it goes.
What I really liked about this book (and this series in general) is that it knows what it is.. a really fun, questing, YA - fantasy series with some romance and a great heroine. In this last installment of the series, we are getting closer to the culmination and the outcome of the Salem Prophecy. We go on some awesome adventures (as in other installments of this series) but what I really liked was the little historical detour the coven goes through.
Tegan and Tennessee really blossom into their relationship. I liked the ending stuff with them (trying to not spoil anything here) and felt satisfied with their "ending". We get to see some more of Emerson and Deacon - as well as some other POV's.
I felt like there were some unanswered questions with this book. I haven't read the novella, The Fire Witch, so I don't know if those answers are in there. But as an ending to a series, I would of liked to see them in here.
Overall, this was a really fun YA read. It was easy to follow, had great flow, and pacing was fast paced and exciting for the ending. The action scenes continued to be great.
When I read the first book, The Lost Witch, I had no idea I'd be finishing the entire series on a positive note--and in 4 days.
The first book didn't live up to my expectations.. and frankly, all the other books had issues. For one, I found them all to be quite short. Then, there are major plot holes here and there. Like, in The Aether Witch, why did Everest suddenly appear in the final showdown? More importantly, why was he betraying her Seelie Queen? What happened to Saffie, Myrtle and Leyka?? They spent so much time with them during one slip-up in their quest but they left it hanging.
There's also one death at the end that seemed so random. Then again, that aspect is what made this refreshing. Everyone was replaceable--consider a death like the reshuffling of the Tarot Cards. With each death comes a new character. And if you think it that way, the author could really go on and on with this universe.
Tegan kicked major ass here. Tenn continued to display his fighting prowess. They really do make for one bewitching couple. There are so many characters involved here but the banter involving Royce, Easton and Lily also earned a few chuckles from me.
There were some cringe-worthy lines and dialogues/lines getting repetitive but overall it didn't dampen the whole experience for me.
Absolutely thrilling reading experience. Time is running out before Samhain, and part of the Coven is still stuck in the past with only desperate options how to time travel back... especially when one of the key Cards is dying. Pulling the correct strings transports them back at a huge cost, and hell is not over yet.. not until they solve all the clues that lead to uncovering the Gap. And still, preparing their whole lives for this day can't prepare the coven members for what is awaiting them. They would need everything to even stand a chance against the demons.. This series is absolutely breathtaking. Plot develops at such a rapid speed I forget breathing in some places, living through the intense action scenes and fights intertwined with raw emotional spots. It is perfectly balanced for a fantasy book, keeping me glued to the chair or bed or whatever during the whole book, only reluctantly closing the e-reader when I absolutely must. I feel so connected to the characters my feelings go haywire everytime a twist in the book appears, and my heart skips a beat when danger rises to insane heights. I absolutely need the next book now.
This book had me gritting my teeth and worrying they wouldn’t fulfill the prophesy. There was a lot of demons to have to wade through while searching for the gap to close. I did not see the ending coming but was excited to learn the truths surrounding the gap. I love dragons so when the dragons were brought back in this book, I got excited. This book has it all, kick butt fighting, hereo’s and heroins, love, loss, and total commitment and trust. I have to wonder about ever eating maple syrup again. The coven gets to go back in time by being tricked, so they had to pull a little trickery of their own to get back to the present. I still really want to know what happened to Tennessee when his mother sends him away. Hopefully this will be answered soon in season 2. Can’t wait to follow this series to the very end.
Goddess, I loved this series. Honestly, I'm not sure what I was expecting from it when I started, but it went on and surprised me with its heart and originality from the start. This adventurous, action-packed book (like the previous ones) kept me flipping pages and my heart invested.
Tegan is an amazing badass and I loved her so much. Her and Tennessee are perfect for one another and their romance was so incredibly sweet.
I loved all the characters, even the "minor" ones. Prepare to laugh out loud with this series and read with a goofy smile on your face (I did).
I have to say I am intrigued to understand more about Tennessee's background and who he was before his memories were lost as a child. That wasn't explained in this series, perhaps it will be eventually. Either way, I am in this Coven now... ;) or at least I plan to keep reading about them.
This was fun. The time traveling thing was fun but I’m glad they got back home when they did, I was missing their hometown and the rest of the gang.
It took so much for them to be able to be worthy enough to close the Gap, and I’m sad yet relieved with how they all managed to keep moving forward. I loved the characters and all their different personalities. They really grow on you, and I couldn’t help but laugh at the way they acted at times. Especially the couples and goofballs. You sometimes forget they haven’t even graduated high school yet.
I love the world the author created and what she has plans for in the future. I’ll be right there happily awaiting for the second season to start. I’m so terribly relieved I stuck out with the series. I never want it to end.
4.25/5 First the good. I enjoy the characters. I like am happy with the story. The goal from the beginning of the series was accomplished. There was good action and the author kept great pacing. There was tension. And there was decent relationship building without delving into x-rated material as often happens. I really have only two complaints. The first is that the story was split into 6 books when it honestly could have been two volumes. I feel this broke up the story and was unnecessary. My second complaint is that I feel there are some threads that were not answered. Teagan's friend, Betina is obviously a witch. This was started and then just dropped. There were a few other threads left unanswered.
Phenomenal, breathtaking, action packed, historical. These are just a few words I can use to describe this book. It is beyond good so good even that words fail to accurately describe it you just need to read it to actually experience all there is to offer. it has been one of my favorite books yet and I am thrilled with the outcome. Not only did Tegan and Tennessee's relationship come full circle but you also witness the entire Coven grow and change, all while feeling like you are in Salem with them on their journey to close the gap. Can't wait for the next chapter in the series!!!!!
Another exciting roller coaster read of a magical quest fraught with danger. Once again teamwork and amazing and diverse magical gifts were needed to accomplish their complex tasks. Could not put the book down, so recommend readers allot enough time to complete their read in one or two sittings.
Satisfying end to this six part series, and I was surprised to see the story ending with the introduction of another character who I suspect will be key in the next series. I am thrilled we will be returning to these interesting characters and amazing magical universe with more stories created by this talented author. Highly Recommend. 5 Stars
I’ve missed the last two books of this series but it didn’t trip me up with this story too much I enjoyed it immensely. There’s action from the start and keeps going until the end of this book I just had to read it right through no break for me. It’s an exciting story with action, adventure, twists and turns, suspense, danger, magic and so very much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. This author gave me an amazing picture of Salem in my head from the past right up until now and it felt like that I was there watching the scenes take place. This is such a fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Continuing on from where the previous book’s cliffhanger left off, our coven friends have to try and close the gap before it’s too late. Will they all make the right choices?
This is an action filled, heart rending, heart pounding finish to the Elemental Magic arc of the Coven series. There are sequel novellas and another couple of series, but this story arc involving Tegan and Tennessee (and to a lesser extent Emersyn and Deacon) is completed. It was an enjoyable finale, and I’ll definitely be reading the other series! Can’t wait to see what happens next!
I really enjoy this series. Her connection with Tennessee is so intense and just grows more and more as they face so much danger. She really wants to do what is right and takes the steps to make it happen even if it could have severe risks for her. I admire her determination. I enjoy the fact that they both tell part of the story so you get to see them thru the other's eyes too and really understand more about them. The other characters face serious challenges too and rise up to the challenge.
An action packed urban fantasy series. The coven a group of witches that lead all the witches in the world. Which is were put on this earth to protect humans from evil demons and everything else that is evil. As members die they are replaced by new members. Follow along as our characters battle evil to win for the side of good. They face challenges and quests to succeed An extraordinary cast of characters with a very intriguing and entertaining storyline. Check it out a fun read
You know you are onto an awesome series when you get to the end of book 6 and you are wanting more. I absolutely smashed through all 6 books. This series had a slow start but the writing is good and the concept absolutely mind blowing. I love tarot, magic and paranormal and this has such a great combination of everything. So creative and well executed. With every book the characters and world building sharpens and grows leading to this brilliant conclusion. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
I truly did like this series. The premise and storyline were really good. I just really wanted it to be executed better. This series leaves SO MANY QUESTIONS!! There’s so many things that are not addressed or fleshed out. The ending is ok. I wish she would have tied up the loose ends, but I’m not surprised given how many questions she’s left unanswered through out the series. If I read Fire Witch is strictly to see if she answers anything about the previous books. Very much not interested in reading any more from Emerson’s point of view.
A tad bit better than the previous book. There are still things that dont make sense and loose ends. For a final book, it didn't hit the way it should. I do adore Tegan and Tennessee. Separately? They are amazing warriors. Together? A force to be reckoned with. I love their powers. I also love how replaceable all the cards can be. Its an interesting take. I hope eventually saffie, myrtle, and leyka's storylines come to a conclusion. It didn't feel right that they were left hanging. Overall, the series was good. I adored books 1 through 3. I wish there last 3 had lived up to my expectations.
Not enough stars to rate this series..its just ..wow..i dont usually write reviews..this is my second book that i write review for..and i have trouble reading searies that are more then 3 books..i get bored easy 😁..but not this one..Its been like fresh air...it sucks you in from the first pages.great characters .great plot..love it.cant wait to see what happens next.
This is seriosuly one amazing story that will have you hooked from book one page one intil the end of this one. Tegan and Tennessee's story is so freaking good. This book tells the story of the prophecy they've been training and waiting to come to. Nkw its up to the twins to fix it along with the rest if the coven. Love hiw they are there for one another and doesnt ever give up. Great series and I can not wait for more and with ither characters.
I do have to say every book in the series so far really needs some major editing. There were a lot of grammar and spelling errors. That being said I really love this series. I oopsed and read Bettina's books first. It wasn't too confusing but made a lot more sense after reading Tegan's books. Even with editing issues, it didn't take away from the story lines. I really wish Emerson's books were a little longer though. This is a must series to read!!!
I just thought about something. White supremacist entitlement is so strong. Like I am sure the author of this series doesn’t think she is racist, but she decided that the genocide of an indigenous tribe was okay to include in her plot. These witches slaughtered a whole ass tribe! With all the magic, there was no other way? So, now I’m going to change all my ratings on her books. I mean I’m used to BIPOC erasure in white fiction, so it doesn’t make me angry there’s only one Puerto Rican character in the series. But, to slaughter a whole ass tribe!? As a Black woman with indigenous ancestry, I have to speak on it, despite enjoying the series otherwise.
This book had so much going on but didn't seem clustered. The good news is that the Gap has been closed; but not without the cost of a life. Just when you think they will finally get a break, another warning is giving about an upcoming war. The book ends with the next 16 of the coven being found, but she is in bad shape. I am interested to see how the series moves towards war and what this new member will bring to the coven. Hopefully, it ties into the memories Tennessee keeps having.
This has been an amazing series. Fantastic characters with non stop action from beginning to end. As much as I wanted to know the conclusion now I hate that it has ended. Great plot and storytelling. I would have liked to find out what Tennessee is though. If you like magic or witches this is an outstanding read.
