Grace Carter thought she’d left Willowbrook—and her past—behind for good. But when heartbreak sends her back to her childhood home by the lake, she comes face-to-face with the one person she never truly let go of: Ben Jacobs, her childhood best friend turned first love. As Grace finds herself drawn back into the comforting embrace of small-town life, old feelings resurface, forcing her to confront the biggest question of Is Willowbrook still just a stop on her journey, or could it finally be home?
Welcome to Willowbrook, where love lingers like a warm summer breeze and second chances are as sweet as the town’s famous blueberry scones. If you love heartfelt reunions, small-town charm, and the kind of romance that feels like coming home, you’ll adore this story of love, hope, and new beginnings.
✨ Love Rekindled at the Bookstore is a tender, heart-warming story about homecoming, second chances, and the quiet magic of healing. The small-town bookstore becomes more than just a backdrop—it’s a sanctuary where broken hearts slowly find their rhythm again.
Through the turning of silent pages, past wounds are mended, old flames are reignited, and love proves it’s never too late to begin again. A beautiful story for anyone who believes in forgiveness, resilience, and the way books can stitch us back together.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a story of new beginnings as a woman moves back to the town where she grew up after tiring of life in the city, including the man she had been engaged to. She reunites with an old friend and this relationship helps both of them to bloom. She, Grace, soon begins to fulfill her dream of owning a bookstore. There is a lot of work involved, but her old friend Ben helps immensely. They not only enjoy working together, bu also just being togerther. Soon a romance begins.
Of course there are complications, such as Grace's ex wanting to reconnect and talk things out. Reluctantly Grace agrees to do that and it doesn't turn out as terrible as she had feared. Similarly, Ben's sister, who he hasn't had contact with for years also wants to reconnect, and that goes pretty well thanks to Grace's involvement. So in the end, the bookstore opens and Grace and Ben are very happy together.

This book was incredibly cute. If you're a reader that needs a book to compare it too, think of The Dream Harbor series!
I wouldn't say this is the most unique book out there, but it was well done. I did find that points of it were incredibly slow and felt more like filler rather than actual plot, but when we did get plot related sections, it was interesting.
I did like the romance in the book as well.. it wasn't the most prominent, but when we did get some romance, it was nice. The love interest she has is such a cinnamon roll and we love that.
I do see that this is a series.... If I'm being 100% honest, I don't think this book is THAT interesting to continue on, but it's just interesting enough where I'm wanting to read book two to see where it goes. So this is definitely not a book for everyone, but I'm glad I came across it.
This is a cute book. Fast to read, has a lot of small town, entrepreneur vibes, as well as love resurfacing after years. I liked that it is an every-day, mundane story. Not too over the top. The drama is mild. However, it is not 4 or 5 stars because a lot of the inner thoughts of the main character are repetitive, and the reflections are said many times in the same chapters, instead of the storyline, dialogues and actions taking us through our own thoughts about what happens to the character. It feels as if the author is telling you what to think of the characters, instead of the pages and themselves exploring themselves and just being.
I enjoyed the cozy small-town bookstore setting and the sweet, rekindled love storyline, and there were definitely some charming, feel-good moments throughout. That said, I liked this book more than I loved it. Much of the story felt like it took place in the same setting over and over again, which made the 12 chapters start to blend together, and the plot felt drawn out longer than it needed to be. With tighter pacing and a bit more variety in the scenes, it could have been stronger, but overall it was still a pleasant, easy romance read.
I had to force myself to finish this book. The characters and plot had no depth and honestly just seemed thrown together. It was very basically written and felt as if it was a child, not an adult who was the author. The author chose to tell rather than show, which got to be repetitive and boring. I appreciated that it was a sweet and clean romance, and when I read the summary I thought it had potential. Sadly, I don’t think the idea was fully developed.
Very cute town and I expected to like it more than I did by the end..
The plot was obvious from the start which took away some of the wondering about whether or not the main couple would get together. Even the dramatic points were resolved so easily and quickly.
If you’re someone wanting a quick easy clean romance where you’re not left guessing, then this book would be perfect for you. May still ready the others in the series as I like the concept..
A wholesome contemporary hometown romance. This was spot on the perfect book. The characters are loyal, friendly and like family. I felt the charm of willowbrook come to life. Thus is uplifting and inspiring book that hooks you right away. Thank you Skye Hudson, I'm a new fan for sure. Enjoy
This was a cute second chance clean romance story about two childhood friends who lost contact only to regain it when she moved home and something builds between them that they ignored for years. I enjoyed this book.
Short book but if you took out the repetitiveness of it if you be only 25 pages. No character development and felt like the main characters were doing the same thing everyday. If it wasn’t so short I would have DNF the book
This was a very nice read of returning to her home town after years in the city. Opening a book store and finding a nice romance with the boy she left behind years ago. A truly nice read.
Grace returns to Willowbrook after her life in “the city” is turned upside down. Lots of descriptions of the sights and smells of her hometown and the great community. And of course, her childhood best friend, Ben.
the story in and of itself was cute and sweet. the writing had the feel of a first novel where the author kept rehashing the theme everywhere possible which was a little annoying.
Good, a little rushed for me taste, I normally like my cosy romances a little longer with a bit more depth and storyline to them but a great book to read if you’re getting out of a reading slump!
this book was ok for a quick read small town romance. I did debate between 2 and 3 stars because the story was the same as another book I've read, almost exactly.
