Courting the Tiger King

Rate this book
Wren has exactly one year to find and bond with his mate, or risk losing his mind. When a witch casts the spell to reveal the location of his mate, he couldn't have anticipated the chaos he would invite into his home.

Neah never expected to set foot back inside the Tiger King’s court under these circumstances—but when she discovers information that endangers the king’s life, she is forced to act. To maintain her cover as nothing more than a Lady, Neah hides from the king’s guard in the home of her best friend, Zennon, and follows when Zennon is escorted to the palace to meet her supposed mate… The King.

As Wren begins to suspect that not all is as it seems when it comes to Neah, the danger increases and so does the attraction simmering between them. Wren and Neah must face their fates and their enemies—before they destroy them all.

It has been ages since I last read a romantasy! This was a nice palate cleanser and way to dip my toes back in (I love a standalone romantasy it’s true!)

The setting and characters were all great — nothing too complex, but enough depth to draw me in. The plot was predictable for the most part, but honestly that is a positive in this case. Sometimes a girl just wants to curl up with a romantasy book that does not have a villain who has spent 207 years plotting an elaborate revenge scheme that unfolds over 4 books. I’m just a girl!

The only thing that took me by surprise was how smutty this one got — phew! Things escalated quickly once we got to that point (after a respectable amount of slow burn).

Definitely recommend this one and definitely will be reading the others in this series. I’m curious to see how the writing styles compare :)

A scorchingly addictive, fated mate romantasy that I absolutely devoured!

The world-building was really compelling, with lore, (surrounding shifters, witches and a generational curse) and a ritual based magic system that, when paired with the court based politics, made for a tension-filled reading experience that had me invested.

Though, I admit not nearly as invested as I was in the sizzling chemistry between protagonists Wren (our growly, and utterly lush Tiger King) and Neah, the endearingly fierce (and witty) daughter of Wren’s famed Kings guard Captain, Jamison.

The romantic tension and banter between the pair was both entertaining and incredibly electric. And I swooned more than a few times reading their scenes together (especially that Lunar Hunt Scene🔥🔥🔥.) But I also loved exploring the complicated feelings we see them both navigate in regards to their attraction.

For Wren it’s his conflicted emotions surrounding the mate bond, and not knowing whether his feelings (and those of his destined mate) are genuine, or a result of the bond’s magic. And for Neah, it’s her fears surrounding her inability to shift, and the expectations she’s convinced she’ll never live up to.

But, it was the yearning from our Alpha MMC, Wren (which was delicious in the most addictive of ways) that really made this standout for me. Seeing how quickly he fell and how far he was willing to go to prove himself— I was in spicy romantasy bliss!

The danger-filled action sequences were great too (I loved how badass Neah was) and, along with the found family vibes of the supporting cast (Zennon, Sonnet, Skye and Gabriel) made for a really entertaining read.

So, if you love your reads sexy and shifter filled, your book boyfriends fiercely protective (in a feral “touch her and die” kind of way) or your FMCs endearingly sassy and just as fierce, then you’re probably gonna really enjoy this.

Also, a huge thank you to Jade Church for the e-arc.

PLEASE tell me Skye and Sonnet will be getting their own book! I need it desperately.

The ending to this book was very abrupt and I was kind of surprised that it just ended. But I really enjoyed the book and I’ll be checking out the author’s other books. Hopefully one featuring certain characters from this book.

3.75⭐️! Overall a fun read. The world building is very digestible, honestly I would’ve even loved a little bit more of a deeper dive into the world. This a good introduction standalone novel to the romantasy genre; short, sweet, and steamy! I loved how strong, cunning, fierce, and loyal Neah was as an FMC. Wren is a yearning man and when you yearn- you earn, and Wren earrnneeeddd his love from Neah! The ending felt slightly rushed to me, it could’ve been longer for me personally!

Readers can expect: fated mates, shifters, court drama, and forced proximity.

Jade Church's Courting the Tiger King is a magnificently mind-blowing fated mate romance, I literally picked up this romantasy after lunch expecting to read a chapter and then I realised I've devoured the entire book after midnights, I just couldn't put it down, from the first page, the stakes were terrific, Wren has one year to discover and bond with his mate before his soul is completely absorbed by the beast, and that urgency propels the story with a breathtaking pace! Nevertheless, the real flame explodes when Neah joins, disguised her identity while circling a court that may ruin her!
.
I don't know why I have not read COURTING THE TIGER KING by Jade Church sooner! I couldn't put this book down! My mind dwelled into the Author's magnificent prose and I just couldn't put it down for not even one second! I devoured every single line of every chapter, it was fascinating, the lyrical and compelling prose, the fabulous structured characters with detailed personalities, and terrifying backgrounds that my heart was pounding to get to know more and more! This was romantasy at its best!!!
.
There was tremendous suspense, build-up, banter, and so much more, and all the plots were carefully structured! The detail was to die for! Loved Wren and Neah's romance with a passion, and those steamy scenes were outstanding, I really do mean outstanding!!!
.
The romance in COURTING THE TIGER KING unfolds with the fabulous details of destiny and the sharpness of intrigue! Politics thunder with suspense, creating a story that pulls your brain to the book with ruthlessness and beauty! The chemistry between Neah and Wren feels inevitable, their bond is tied in secrecy, danger, and the weight of crown and kingdom! Jade Church delivers a tale as seductive as it is regal, a book that glows with heat, shadow, and the fierce splendour of fated love! I rate this romantasy 10 stars, and hands down in my favourite reads of this Year!

"There you are."

A light and engaging short read to fluff up your reading goals✨ it's the first book of Romancing the Realms collection, which consists of five books steamy romantasy (all standalones!) with diverse themes💖 This book tells the story of Neah, a spy, and King Wren, a tiger shifter king who must find his fated mate before he loses his human soul and becomes a tiger forever. desperate by running out of the time to lift his curse, he summons a witch to track his mate's location. when the witch's magic track precisely to an estate where Zennon lives, it turns out that Zennon's best friend, Neah, was there too, but she's hiding when Zennon escorted to the palace. then Neah followed Zennon to the palace while hiding her identity as a spy to investigate who is the one that hire the hunter's guild for an attempt on the king

cozy, sweet and spicy! this was an enjoyable and entertaining story, it's fun to see Wren's confusion while spending time with Zennon and Neah (no love triangle!). Wren believes that Zennon is his mate, but he always feels drawn to Neah, I really enjoyed their banter!😂 and I loved the time when finally Wren and Neah found each other🥰 I'm also intrigued about the dynamic between Skye and Sonnet, their chemistry is great, and it would be interesting if there's a spin off or sequel to this book focusing on the two. what a fun read, shifter romance lovers must read this book!✨

He inhaled, knowing what he would scent but needing to confirm it nontheless. His eyes slipped closed as he luxuriated in it, in her, before he opened them once more and grinned at the tiger in his bedroom. "There you are."

♥️Thank you so much Jade Church and Farofeb for the gifted copy, I'm so grateful for the opportunity! all opinions are my own♥️

3.5 stars. This was a great, fast-paced, sweet pallet cleanser romantasy perfect for in-between heavier reads (which is exactly what I was looking for!) The stakes weren’t exceptionally high, though there were some tense moments.

Both MCs were likable, I’m not usually a fan of an overly confident FMC who can kick everyone’s ass (sometimes they’re written too cocky and not at all humble, and I do love a little of damsel-in-distress), but Neah is a nice combination of vulnerability and kick-ass sarcasm. She doesn’t wait for the knight on the white horse to save her, no she saves herself and takes names while doing it, and I was here for it. She had some great one-liners and I chuckled more than once. She was sweet with Wren once she accepted her feelings for him, and their connection was fun to watch unfold.

Wren was a typical, albeit more vulnerable than most, MMC, a tiger shifter king who needs his mate to break his curse. He was easy to like, gentle and smoldering, and the push and pull between him and Neah was delicious. There were times he seemed the weaker of the two, and while it didn’t take away from his alpha king thing, it was a different dynamic to witness.

Side characters were fun, if slightly underdeveloped, and I’d love to see more of them in the future. The ending was wrapped up like extremely quickly, and it was almost whiplash how fast we went from pretty extreme conflict to HEA. Still, a good easy read with likable characters and a satisfying end.

I loved this book. 1 I love tigers. 2 It's nice to get another type of shifter. 3 well the duo in this one were interesting and kept me intrigued and wanting to be a part of their story. I was easily engrossed with the author's writing and enjoyed following along on the journey. The depictions through out the story were perfectly enacted for my imagination to imagine the scenes on page, everything flowed at a smooth pace.
We got laughter, tension, and definitely some steamy time! When it comes down to the characters I absolutely loved them. I will start off I was a little confused plot wise between chapter 2 and 6.... But if I had just been patient I would have figured it out. It all makes sense.

Neah was a breath of fresh hair. She's fierce, loyal, and doesn't just sit around and whine or wait for someone to magically rescue her.

Wren was pretty interesting. He's got some determination, he's loyal, he's willing to fight for his friends and those he loves, and he's the type of person who wants someone to love him willingly, not because of any other reason or force or feeling obligated. Just wants pure love.

If you're looking for a new shifter book that maybe doesn't focus around wolves, definitely has some steam to it, and a strong female presence who doesn't just sit around waiting to be rescued... This book is the book. Take a chance. Read it. I did and I do not regret it.

🔥🐅 PUB DAY ALERT 🐅🔥
Courting the Tiger King is OUT NOW and claws are absolutely out in book 2 of the Romancing the Realms collection!

With a cursed kingdom, a deadline to bond or go mad, and one VERY grumpy Tiger King, this book gives:
🐅 Growly, loyal, possessive Alpha energy
🔥 “You taste like mine” (EXCUSE ME)
🧙‍♀️ Cunning FMC lying her way through court
🫀 “Use me. Own me. I’m yours, heart, body, soul.”
(I needed to lie down. Still do.)

Neah is fierce, independent, and not about to roll over for fate or for a king.

Wren? Well, he’s giving feral yearning king with claws, curses, and more feelings than he knows what to do with.

Add in some palace secrets, magical rituals, betrayal, and a found family side cast that had me kicking my feet (SONNET. GABRIEL. SKYE. I NEED YOUR BOOKS) and this one is a hit from first growl to last gasp.

💘 Slow burn? Absolutely.
💘 Banter? Sharp.
💘 Steam? SCORCHING.
💘 Representation? Chef’s kiss.

Perfect for fans of:
👑Shifter romantasy with courtly chaos
👑Alpha MMCs who fall hard and fall first
👑Women who lie, fight, and steal their way into power
👑That good good enemies to lovers tension
👑Sacrificial devotion and soft vulnerability under sharp claws 😮‍💨

🖤 Romancing the Realms continues to DELIVER. This standalone romantasy is twisty, spicy, and addictive and I already need book 3 like yesterday.

A king, a maiden, and a plot to overthrow the throne. Sounds fun, right?

Add in that this mysterious world has shifters, a kingdom with nefarious plots that are unraveling and a curse that looms over them all. In the midst of everything, you have Neah and Wren, the maiden and king, who get pushed together by fate and end up fighting for their lives while also falling deeply in love.

Neah is so used to being a strong, independent woman and tries to leave Wren behind, but he is so protective of his woman, and watching her guard go down with him was wonderful to read. He is home to her and vice versa. They are so cute together that they had me kicking my feet.

Their family (found and blood) also brought me such joy to read. Can we have a side story on the complexity of Sonnet, Gabe, and Skye. I will read about that trio all day long if I could. They are hysterical together!
Zennon and Romi, these two made me kick my feet and squeal, I loved the representation and their story throughout the story as well.

I so enjoyed stepping into this world, I would love to see these characters again since they brought me such joy. I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this amazing novel and am leaving a review of my own thoughts and feelings.

I am not gonna lie I usually have a hard time with shifter books, but I always keep trying, I absolutely found one that I actually enjoyed alot. Courting the Tiger King was really good, it was written amazingly first off, and flowed so well through the whole entire book. My biggest thing is that it wasnt your typical shifter it was so nice to see a book that depicted a different type of shifterthan normal! so I was excited! I loved the characters and the interactions between them, nothing felt forced and it all fit right in place. You have your Fmc that i just absolutely loved, she took charge and didint just wait around for everything to come to her, she went out and faced everything head on. You got everythingyou could want in a book, with this one! You got the emotion, the laughter, the spicy scenes in a all around well packaged bundle! You should definately take a chance and read this book! The author is an amazing and talanted writer that wrote a book that you can literally watch play out in your mind while reading. Go check it out its amazing!

Devoured in one sitting like the filthy little shifter-loving gremlin I am and I REGRET NOTHING.

Fated mates? ✔️
Palace intrigue? ✔️
Hidden identities, growly kings, forced proximity, and one badass FMC lying her way through the court like an absolute legend? ✔️✔️✔️

And THEN he had the audacity to say: “You taste like mine”

BABE. FERAL. Fully lost grip on reality. Had to pause and scream into a pillow.

Wren is unhinged, Neah is iconic, and this whole book is a spicy, twisty, absolutely unputdownable romantasy romp. Perfect for fans of tension, claws, sass, and slow-burns that catch FIRE 🔥

Huge thanks to @authorjadechurch for the ARC! This was such a fun read! 💌

This was an enjoyable read. I loved the premise of the book, as fated mates is a trope I enjoy reading, and this book did a good job of it. The suspense and idea of the unknown were done well. I also adored the relationship with the other characters, some of whom I would love to read a book about. I liked the initial banter between the main characters, and I wish it had lasted a bit longer. Once they 'got together', it felt as if their relationship was a bit more on the lust side than emotional. I wish the end had been expanded, as it felt slightly rushed. I did adore the way Wren thought about Neah, knowing she was a strong woman who could defend herself. If you love strong characters, fantasy and found family, then you will enjoy this book.

Thank you to the author for giving me a free copy in return for an honest review.

this book was good! i enjoyed it it’s not memorable though i’m writing this review a week later and i can remember that i enjoyed the mystery elements and the sort of slow burn instead of insta love (instead we had some longing and angst)! i am curious about the rest of the couples that seemed to be built up in this story though as there’s no continuation for them! i needed a simple read though bc i just read a LONNG book

This was a fun easy standalone romantasy. It involves shifters, and fated mates and curses. I will say I saw the plot twists coming but it still was an enjoyable read! I liked the friendships and how the shifters was written was unique. I also loved that this was not a damsel in distress FMC. She could handle herself and does!

Good read full of magic, shifters, & a cures in need of breaking.
Neah finds herself at the castle of the king after an attempted assassination. She follows Zennon to the castle to protect her from any further attempts on her life and finds herself drawn to Wren discovering he is cursed and in need of her help.

🐅ARC Review: Courting The Tiger King by Jade Church🐅

4⭐️

This was such a fun, easy read. I really enjoyed the storyline. I don't know about you but I love a good Fated Mates story. It's even better when the FMC denies the connection!!

We start off with Wren, the tiger king who is searching for his fated mate so he can end his curse and not die at 25. He hires Sonnet, a witch who performs a spell to help find his mate. She says it worked but upon Zennon & Neahs arrival to his castle, he is unsure of which woman is his mate...

Jades writing was so fun, heartwarming and entrancing. I fell in love with all the characters especially Zennon & Romi ❤️ If you are looking for a swoonworty, kick your feet while giggling type of read, this one's for you!

Fave Quotes:

"He chuckled and the sound was pleasant, warm and deep, and the animal inside her seemed to stretch languidly in response, watching through her eyes like the king was prey she wouldn’t mind tasting."

"Those two are one spark away from an explosion.”

"He pressed the tips of his claws into her inner thighs, keeping her spread open like a feast just for him."

“Use me,” he rasped. “Own me. I’m yours, heart, body, soul.”
