I thought book 1 of The Siren's Curse Series was good but ho is this even better?😭 The whole mermaid world building, and descriptions are just so vivid and beautiful and have more depth in this book. This book had more underwater scenes and I just loved it so much. It made me think if they get around to turn this into a movie, how wonderful it would be!

Bel is a young mermaid, who is brought back home to the sea from land by her mother Polly. Upon their arrival, the title for the Sovereign is bestowed upon Polly by the Salt. Bel feels like she has never really known her mother when Poly begins to rule Okihanos whilst ordering the pitiful Atlantins who crossed over their territory to be punished severely. As Bel grows up into adulthood, she decides that her mother's cruel reign must be put to an end, but with a forbidden love and powerful enemies rising to power, we can only hope things were ever that simple and easy.

And do I even need to say that I immediately began reading the next book in the series?🫢

Brilliant, impossible to set down!

A.L. Knorr has a brilliant creative talent that has allowed her to create and relay such a rich and imaginative story. This book in particular since it mostly went back in history and answered many questions, some of which I hadn't yet asked. Next book is sure to be as enjoyable and attention grabbing as this one. This series and stories in this world are the kind that are so enjoyable and satisfying that you hope the weather cooperates and gives you a perfect excuse for a long rainy day read. If the author writes some back history/further trilogy books on Earth and Fire ancestors/history we are in for an amazing ride. I absolutely do not want the journey she has taken on to stop anytime soon.

While the book deepens the lore of the series, I did occasionally find it very slow and it took a while to complete. This book could have been a prequel, I don't think it really needed to be in the series since it kinda goes against the time and events of the present day (the book's present days of course)
It was interesting to learn more about the sirens and Sybellen.

Salt & the Sovereign is the captivating second book in The Siren’s Curse YA fantasy series.
I have loved every book I’ve read by A.L. Knorr but she got even better with Salt and Sovereign!
In this novel we get to find out about Josef and Mira and their history.
I just love the depth the characters and plots have and I think this is the best in the series so far!
The story grabs you from the start and doesn't let go until you are done.
I can't wait to read the next installment and would like to say Ms. Knorr is a truly gifted author.
Highly recommend!

TEN STARS NOT FIVE! ❣❣❣❣❣

FANTASTIC!!  I am shaking my head as l write this, I mean, where does the author get all her details from?  I just loved this and will be rereading it soon. I swear l was right at Mira's side every second , spellbound. This is a good sized book that l read over 2 days, one time under the bed covers at midnight, so l didn't disturb my husband. I recommend this book to all ages, it's a gem!

What an amazing story! It tells Mira's story from the beginning, and answers so many questions. As this isn't the last book in the series, it also leaves you excited, and with more questions! This book delves deep into the lives and history of the mermaids and tritons. Couldn't put it down!

This is a great Young adult fantasy books! Book 2 in the series! If you like mermaids/sirens a fantasy world under the ocean, yet a life on land, a place of a little romance, adventure, and a great introduction to mermaids & Tridents/mermen!

This book is suited for a young or old audience, like the first one, it kinda draws you in and picks up right where the first one ended! It’s a great read for a young person interested in what a mermaids life “could” be like! It’s got a great story, is very clean and a young adult or pre-teen might really enjoy it if you are drawn to mermaids, and simply a magicikal world that your mind creates! Enjoy,

These books were quick reads for me, but i speed read, i finished this one and the book before in a day, and feel certain I will finish the last in less than a day!

The author has many books aimed towards young Adult readers wanting to be drawn into a fantasy world! Enjoy!

“Can Bel claim the throne before her mind and the kingdom fall to ruin?” That in s nutshell is what A.L. Knorr’s Salt & the Sovereign: The Siren's Curse 2 (The Elemental Origins Series Book 8) is all about - but it’s really so much more. It’s essential background for the author’s The Elemental Origins series that fans of the series didn’t even know they were missing. It’s also a great story for readers who know nothing about that series. A neat trick to pull off. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

An Amazing Journey

Just finished this book in the series after a long break from this world, then I stumbled upon a Pyro novella and couldn’t find more to the academy there and decided to go back to the oceanic part of this world. I’d read all of Mira’s novellas and hoping to finally have sum of past tied up. While I loved how the author gave us her current past and then her past life, I was left with more curiosity and questions and how she somehow had another childhood.
While I still curiously peaked more, I got answers too, or lead down the road to where I feel it’s coming to a head.
Tonight I finished this book and I was going to start the next tomorrow. But the feeling the end leaves you with, and the words “The End” with mention on the next book after it. I had to at least open the next book and read a little before sleep.

This was my favorite of the series, finally we get all the answers we need about the mermaids, sirens, tritons and atlanteans. I thought the author did an exceptional job at telling this story. It was very interesting but of course now I can't wait for the conclusion. However, this rating should be a 4.5 because there were grammatical errors and that can really make or break a story - they are the worse. I felt generous because the story was just so good so I gave the five rating. I am a little confused though as to why Mira has a prequel series, seems like it might be much of the same that we will read about or does the author just want to tell us about another of Mira's love stories? Anyway read this !

Not what I wanted but it was nice

4 stars because it’s a mermaid tale with Atlanteans. 3.5 because it had nothing to do with Teges and the progression of her story lol

I liked seeing the mom’s history and what she went through because it gave us mermaid vibes without straying too far from what originally brought me here (which was her daughter). I never have patience for stories that inconsistently branch off to something else without being its own novella or spin off but I wasn’t too annoyed because I borrowed this from kindle unlimited and again, I like mermaids.

I think the idea of the sirens with the Atlanteans is a cool idea. I liked the writing and the flow of it. The drama made my chest hurt and grrrr did my blood boil with the injustices.

Okay...so these days being a mother and a wife and working full time, I have very little time to actually read an entire book, but I made it through this one within 3 days! It was in a word...fantastic. We start off where the last book ended, with Targa's mother being called back to shore and her memories returning, and her, Targa, Antoni and Emun sit down to listen to the story of the century! There's historical flashbacks, action, fighting, war, love, and of course magic! I loved the entire story and I can't wait for the third and final book in this series!

Dang cliff hanger...haha! Can't wait for the next book!

This book dragged me along like no other in the series so far (which is good, because it was so different from the rest of the series so far)
I described this book to my parents as one that pulled away from the rest of the series and then did a complete circle to come right back to where it had pulled away from. And I told them that while super excited about what I had just read - and while disappointed I had run out of pages! Haha!
I'm going to be counting down the days for the Salt and the Sisters to be released!

Salt & the Sovereign: A Water Elemental Novel & Mermaid Fantasy (The Siren's Curse Book 2), my eighteenth read from author A.L. Knorr. Another incredible read, extremely well written, the characters, even the minor ones, are well developed with an attention-grabbing storyline. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make the reader get invested into the characters and thereby the story. I’ll be reading more from this author! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Salt and The Sovereign tells the story of Mira’s life from the time she was born as Belle to when she became Mira. It is quite a tale. Belle starts off as a naive and idealistic little girl gradually growing with each new experience, gaining knowing from her mistakes...but some mistakes end up costing Mira a lot.
The journey is very captivating and a bit emotional. I did cry once or maybe even twice.
As Mira’s story unfolds a few mysteries are discovered that have yet to be figured out.
I eager to solve those mysteries and can’t wait to dive into the next book.

Good

I very much enjoyed this book and the story Mira had to tell. I love this world and can’t seem to get enough. The only thing I’m not too crazy about is how Targa keeps getting pushed to the background. Not only in this book, but throughout a lot of the series of books in this world. I know she can’t be always at the front, but she is one of my favorites. Emun is intriguing as well.

Wonderful reveals

This book is definitely not a standalone story. You must read book 1, Salt & Stone to understand this one. I missed having Targa's story move forward, but the mer history revealed is interesting and clears up some mysteries presented in the Elemental Origins series, which you should read before reading the Siren's Curse series. I have enjoyed this entire series very much. Abby has a wonderful imagination and tells the story well.

Can’t Put this Book Down!

I have read every book of the series and I love everyone of them. The books can be read as a stand alone but I enjoyed readying them in order. I would recommend you start with the first book Born into Water so that you can know the backgrounds of all the characters. If you are looking for a read that will take your mind away from the present, this is it.

This book starts where the first book in the Siren's curse leaves off and is told from Mira's perspective about her past.

Honestly this may be my favorite out of all the Elemental series for the simple reason that you get to learn more about ancient Mer and Atlantian culture as well as the changes over the centuries. This is one book I didn't want to put down even though you knew some of Mira's story it was completely engrossing.

Racism has always been here

Doesn’t matter if your fish, fowl, human or animal. Racism is a real deal. Some folks are like the fish, fowl and animals and just will not think past it. I love that some are trying, sad that others won’t let them. With current events today, this is what struck me about this book most of all. Why can’t everyone find forgiveness, tolerance and love for one another?

Mermaids!

I really enjoyed the history and Mira/ Sybellan's origin story. I also loved the way the storyline with Jozeph unfolded!
This book was not what I was expecting but I truly enjoyed the lore and history of the sirens felt genuine.
But why is no one worried about how Sybellan was the sovereign and birthed a Triton and an Elemental?? Hello, the uniqueness points to something that bares looking into!

To say I ate this book up, I ate this book up. This author is so good with world building, creating characters and moving the story along so easily. The second book is even better than the first. The story progressed so much in this addition and our FMC really goes through some crazy turmoil and trials.

Pacing is good throughout this story too. The ending has a bit of a cliff hanger but it’s manageable since I’m jumping right into book three!

This is so fun yall! Go read this!!!

Compared to the explosion that was book 1, this one was a bit of a let down. While I did enjoy diving deeper into the lore, most of story contradicted what book 1 said and what was happening presently. The length wasnt an issue but I think this should have been a prequel or interwoven with Book 1. I loved Bel and the story. As well as learning the history of the sirens. Maybe it was my fault not doing more research on the book and where it was heading.

Sybella is telling her life’s story to her two children Targa and Emun and also Antoni. With awe and wonder I read this story. Sybella had been through so much! I was amazed at the depth Ms Knorr wrote in her characters and also the wonderful worlds she created in those pages. This book is a must read! I can’t wait to read the next one as my interest is highly peaked!

Salt and Sovereign

The only thing I hate about this book is now I have to wait until the third book in this trilogy comes out. This book takes the trilogy in a whole new direction. It answers a lot of questions left from books 1 and 2. It makes me eager to read book 3. Well done A.L. Korr.

As usual Abby exceeds all my expectations and then some. I don't want to give away too much but I'm so happy that she takes us back and answers all of the questions I never knew I had. I cried and laughed and fell in love with Sybellen all over again. The only thing that I'm upset about is that I'm finished. I CANNOT wait until book 3 comes out.

Loving this series

I’ve loved mermaids since I was a child and I loving this series. This was an awesome history - almost like a prequel and I’m excited to see where the next book goes. I do however have mixed feelings about this being the second to last book as (as usual) I don’t want this story (and these characters) to end

Loved this book! The full background story was so great to hear. Knowing exactly how Mira became Mira was excellent story telling and a truly unique story as well. I’m not sure where Abbey comes up with all this lore and history for her stories but it is brilliant! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!!
