When she isn't writing, she's spending the days with Doc G, Liv and Gray Gray, and their wild golden retriever. She and Doc G drink way too much coffee, eat way too much candy, and fight like they've been married for hmm how long has it been now?

Life is good when the kids are behaving.

On the off chance she's not writing or spending time with family and friends, she's calling them to talk. And if no one answers.... then she's reading and watching trashy TV.

Are there really women so pathetic that it actually reassured them when a guy says “I pictured you when I screwed all of those other women?)” because I have seen it a few times and I guess it has to come from somewhere? I feel so sorry for those women. They need psychological help. I’m a relatively sane persona with just a little self confidence. So each time I process that phrase and think about how I would respond. I would say “ok, creeper you have fun with that” and then walk away to find a guy who doesn’t do or say bs like that. This was really bad. This author makes absolutely no sense. This wasn’t just a second chance story where the characters see other people. No it’s revealed that he was playing the long game with her father to get her revenge because he wanted her back. Ok. So that single-minded “dedication” to her couldn’t have had him use his right hand or something? Insert eyeroll. To me he was unfaithful, simple as that. If he couldn’t keep it in his pants then, he never will be able too. Sleeping with all of those women makes the whole story completely unbelievable. You can’t have a guy out of his mind in love, willing to do anything for the girl he is meant to be with, while also having his screw anything he can get his hands on. Those to dynamic don’t exist in the same person unless they’d be a cheater anyway. Therefor, the entire book is just dumb and a waste of tome. I don’t have the time to waste on authors like this.

Spoilers on ow stuff…

It’s second chance romance. It’s one of those “I f***** all those other women but kept thinking about you while doing it” books. He knows how to show his love for h.

Self published...?

I would give it negative if I could. This was a mess. It didn't make, felt rushed and jumbled. Half of it read like an overview of a chapter. The Guy is great at everything, cold and calculating yet sensitive, the heroine Dad knew he was a genius investor by the time he graduated High School yet he left her for absurd and questionable reasons, wrote a song and album for her that went platinum immediately (btw this is where you learn he has another nickname for her that had to that point not been mentioned) but he doesn't want the game so quit music EXCEPT that she is sneaking and watching all his televised concerts. Oh and he is now making an app all on his own writing code etc... Then there is the truly ridiculous heroine. She has all these issues she is two seconds from a break down at all times yet never actually deals with a single one. She is so sensitive and neurotic everyone around her walks on eggshells yet adores her, loves her and let's get run their lives. Too sensitive to breathe and get is having casual sex with a dude for anywhere from four years to one year to one night it's unclear.
Let's not forget the guys parents who are divorced but back to married in and off all throughout, the situation seems to change on a whim. The entire premise is dumb. Seems she wrote some scenes she wanted to connect and had a vague idea about a few characters but didn't bother to actually flesh them out or pull it together

The h gives her v-card to H after a tragedy; they have a short fling during their teens. The H leaves the h without saying anything even though he claims to love her. The h is a wreck and struggles through her high school and small town after this.
Fast forward 6yrs, the H is a music star/ manwhore who is in a casual relationship with his PR manager (ow). He meets the h and starts a 'fling without strings' so "they can get it out of their systems". And the doormat that she is, agrees to it! Oh, and he breaks it off with the ow.
The H does not explain why he did what he did to the h till later and it seems he saw the h's face every time he was with other women all through the years (so... romantic!).
At least I'm glad she didn't stay celibate during all the years waiting for him.

I DNF’d this book at 58%

The book has so much potential. I wanted to love this book but the characters just suck. FMC is annoying and always on the verge of a meltdown but doesn’t do anything to stop it. MMC is an asshole. I was proud that he left. Gave them the chance to grow up but he comes back and just treats her like shit.

We get no answers and no real emotion from the characters. How am I supposed to believe he was really in love with her the whole time? I’m a huge fan of kinds of romance. Dark, toxic, sweet, funny, all of it. As long as I know what kind I’m starting. This was marketed as a second chance childhood romance. It was actually toxic af. The only issue is that the characters never made me care about them or love their toxic ways. That’s the difference.

The synopsis and certain parts of the book had so much potential. It hurts my soul a little bit to see the way it actually went.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

It’s 12:41am and I’ve stayed up to finish this book. 🤦🏻‍♀️ what a massive waste of my time….

Safety: there’s off page mentions of trauma and abuse, OW and OM drama… thankfully not descriptive.

1) Jay and Aubrey are friends and have been for a long time. Aubrey’s mom is Native American and her dad beats his wife and daughter behind closed doors.

2) one night Jax who is Jay’s older brother drives to Aubrey’s house to see her… he sees it in a fire. Jax from the start is made out to be a calculative person who doesn’t make any moves without thinking ahead. (Load of BS) if you ask me. He runs in and tried to get to her but her door is locked. She tells him her dad has the key so he leaves to find the day passed out. He takes the key and leaves the dad on the floor which is where we first see him make a calculated decision. He wanted the dad to die. He saves Aubrey and tried to save her mom but she chooses to go back in and she dies. Aubrey’s dad gets away with minimal injuries and is sentenced.

3) Jay’s family takes Aubrey in and this is where the most beautiful relationship I’ve ever read starts between Jax and Aubrey. They are together but their therapist thinks that they’re enabling each other. Which is true. But that’s the only reason their relationship is toxic. Jax falls to it and decides to leave her high and dry in the middle of the night because he loves her soooo much.🚩

4) he meets her dad in prison and ends up getting blackmailed by him into investing his assets for him and basically working for him. Now it is unclear why Jax decides to make this choice.. or what he intended to achieve from it… he had left Aubrey already. He said he wanted her to heal on her own without using him as a crutch so why visit the dad?

5) then there is a time jump and we see jax become a rockstar who fucks everything (because that is a staple in every romance book) and she has a regular f-buddy.

6) idk why this book is called inevitable… when our hero drops these precious jems like

“You are not the best I’ve ever had… and I am not the best you’ve ever had”

“I moved on… so did you”

“We were kids in love and I left. She’s moved on. So have I.. what’s the problem?” -I paraphrased this one

7) what he did was take advantage of a vulnerable girl after a life threading trauma and left her. And he didn’t even apologize for it for the majority of the book. The first part during their childhood is very misleading. I thought it would be a book about a childhood obsession and a second chance romance. This is not it. Not only is the hero not obsessed but the trope of “I pictured you when I was with them” grates on my nerves very much.

8) he did everything so he could get her her revenge on her dad but did anyone ask her what she wanted? No… maybe she just wanted to be done with him….. after living an abusive life with him.

9) the relationship is so toxic and not the kind I like. It’s toxic because they’re both emotionally stupid people who can’t communicate for the life of them. Jax loved Aubrey hard but she stayed in love with him while he was f*cking everything with a skirt AND NOT BEING DISCREET ABOUT IT IN THE MEDIA.
she saved a voicemail from him from 6-years ago

10) women are not so weak that they fall whenever a guy says “I was with them but I wanted you”… what BS 💩

11) if he left to let her heal then after the time jump a real second chance book would’ve been to make him grovel for leaving her when she was most vulnerable and them actually building something together.

12) he just ambushed her (he kept annoying her until she gave in is more accurate) into having a FWB situationship with him to “get each out out of their systems”…. Be still my heart.

Update: 1:14am:
13) the way he treated Isabel (his FWB publicist) was fucking brutal. He called her when he was getting hot and heavy with Aubrey to tell her she was fired because Aubrey is not comfortable with the friends of convinice situation. And then she has to listen to them fuck. From my perspective what did she do wrong? Fall for a man who deliberately gave her misleading signals and dropped her like she has the plague and we’re supposed to be swooned by it?

Remember how I mentioned Aubrey’s mom is Native American and never used that piece of information again? Yeah that’s what the book did as well. Felt a little bait-Ty.

There might be better second chance romances out there. Don’t bother with this shit.

2.5 This was hard for me to rate. I can see where some people would like this book bc it has some good ideas and the writing isn’t terrible, it felt a bit clunky sometimes but overall I can tell there is hidden potential. Ultimately this book defines almost, I almost enjoyed it, I almost was invested, almost but not quite. Jax was a piece of crap and I could never buy any redemption. The big secret about why they separated was weak. The dynamic between them was toxic but not love. It’s romanticized toxicity and not well executed. Also, the whole time I was just thinking I wished it was her and Jay.

So glad it's over

Wow, this book was agonizing ! It could have been a 100 pages shorter and it would still be too long. I tried to get into the story, to connect with the characters but they were so annoying with their constant over thinking about EVERYTHING. And honestly I really don't get why would Brey be so upset about the whole trust fun. Pure frustration

WOW JUST WOW! Shain Rose hit this story out of the park, and I'm glad I was here for it! Inevitable is the first story in the Stonewood Brothers series, and I definitely CANNOT wait for more! It's the story of Aubrey (who I LOVED), and Jax (who I'm still not sure about to be honest). He saved her from tragedy, and knowing feelings were caught, he walked away (this is the part that I'm not past yet), breaking her heart in the process. He's back after 6 years with unfinished business, and part of it is Aubrey, who really wants nothing to do with him, which I 100% agreed with. See, Jax knew what she went through, and his leaving totally felt selfish at the end of the day. Now, I'm not saying that I ever put the story down, because I didn't since I needed to know. There are even f-bomb worthy twists which catapulted me to my happy place, and still not sure that I actually ever fell completely in love with Jax. Please remember that this is only my opinion, and seriously, there was enough goodness to keep it perfect for me anyway since I was completely immersed cover to cover. So, did Jax ever get it together to fix what he broke in Aubrey?! You'll have to one click to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Sadly, I could not take the characters' immaturity, jumbled storyline, and there was just too much going on.

I started this book and thought ok this is interesting from the beginning best friend's brother ect gotta love it
. However, the male lead just really annoyed me with his entitlement towards the female lead I'm all for the alpha male persona(in books) but he was just a bit of a dick and the mistakes he made I feel was forgiven all too easily by the female lead not once but twice like ...?. Not going to lie I was reading some parts and genuinely questioned my sanity or laughed for a good 5 mins "I decided to dominate her just like I was dominating the workforce" I had to throw my kindle at the wall and do a few laps of the house while laughing my head off I know it wasn't meant to be comical but if I heard someone say that in real life I would cry I didn't know if I had the strength to return to the book but we must have faith🙏. Eventually, The female lead finally loses her cool and slaps him for the messed up shit he has done ( deserved)and he then compared her to her abusive father " like father like daughter " If I could travel through a book with a bat I would have straight away. If I was the female lead I would have gone for literally anyone else the best friend and male lead's mother seemed like a baddie my personal choice. Honestly, my review is a tad dramatic(meh) actually no I feel my review doesn't fully show how much I disliked the male lead and how messed up some of the things he said and did were. I wouldn't recommend this book but if you like it... Each to their own I guess.

This book is the first book that I've read by this author and it was phenomenal. It will keep you hooked right from the beginning. It holds your attention throughout, grips you and won't let you go until you finished it.

Aubrey 'Brey ' has a horrible father who treated her and her mother terribly. After a complete tragedy when the house is on fire Jax makes a decision there and then to save Audrey.
Jax ran into that burning house without a second thought and saved that young woman life, little did he know the affect it would have on both of them. She is his life, he is her saviour.
After leaving one night without a word Aubrey built up walls around her heart. Then six years pass. She swears nothing will change and she ain't going down that road again.
But can they ever really be together?
(NO SPOILERS).

Between Jax and Brey they had such a strong connection that even though time passed nothing could break it. These two really are soul mates.

This book will have your emotions all over the place and I found myself really rooting for them both. These characters have been through so much together and you could really feel for them as if they were real.
I absolutely couldn't put this book down and I desperately needed to see how this story plays out. Can these two souls have there second chance?

A Second chance love story. This author writes fantastically and really brings this story to life. I honestly can't wait to read the next books this author writes
I really enjoyed reading this book and I will definitely recommend this book when it gets released, I'm so glad that I've found another fabulous author.

Thank you to the author and publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Inevitable has had my feelings going haywire, my heart broke for Aubrey but to read about a young woman who has faced the devil and barely survived to tell the tale. Yet since that fateful day, her life and world are not her own. Can Aubrey finally climb the rest of the way from the depths to finally live as she should? Or will she stay int he hell that was created?

Jax Stonewood is more than a myth or a legend has decided to dance with the devil but at what cost? Jax is trying to play the savior to the one woman who holds his entire world in her hands, she just doesn’t realize it yet. Can Jax finally with the battle and take down his demons or will the devil eat him hole?

Shain Rose has blown me away with Jax and Aubrey’s story. One I was not wholly prepared for. But soon found myself lost in their story rooting for them to overcome the battle before them. This story was filled with so much angst, emotion, love, and support. That I cant wait to read more.

Totally captivating and heart wrenching, I’m pleasantly surprised this is the author’s debut novel!
Keep an eye out for this author folks! The writing was strong solid and engaging!
Complex and complicated this emotional second chance romance was full of twists and turns.
The characters were so well developed, they were realistic and honestly not always likable. Their story spans years and the story they gave up tell was well worth reading.
This is book 1 in the Stonewood Brothers series and I cannot wait to see what’s in store next!

I am so sick of short romances where authors churn out the same stories and then cut them in half for a duet.

I was given the chance to read this by the author and MAN. I just couldn't believe that this was her debut. So fantastic!

This is a story you need to sit down with. You need to revel in it, marinate in the vibrancy of the world inside the pages and BE with these characters and their stories. It's a bit longer than many contemporaries are, but I loved every word and there wasn't anything put in just for the sake of taking up extra space. Just know that you will accidentally devote your life to it for a while once you start - but you won't regret it!

The writing is tight, the dialogue natural, the descriptions lush and engaging and the whole storyline is so wonderfully intricate and well fleshed out. As many times as I wanted to punch Jax in the face and shake him to explain why things weren't ever going to work because he was being exactly the opposite of what Aubrey needed, he did redeem himself and she didn't need my help at all which was so wonderful to find in a female lead. These characters are unapologetically themselves and I am HERE FOR IT. I love them apart even when I want to yell at them and I adore them together. The chemistry is HOT and getting burned is one expected side effect!

Can't wait for the next one! Mystery brother Jett has me intrigued!

DNF 47% 1 star…

Really just not into this at all. I hated all the jealousy and cheating crap. Maybe it wasn’t real cheating (can’t be sure didn’t finish book) but it felt like it was. I hate this whole attitude problem the male love interest has… like why can’t you at the bare minimum apologize to her? Ik he can’t explain the her dad thing yet but idk why he’s surprised she keeps pushing him away when she was clearly broken by him leaving (and for good reason).

My least favorite trope is I left for your own good and this book did it sooo bad. Like he never apologizes and I’m almost 50% in! She went through tragedy and he was her rock and instead of leaving without a word he should have just said he had to go.

Like using her nick name with other people and making out on stage is ridiculous. No real pop stars do this, and even if they do he shouldn’t have. If he loved her so much he should have came back sooner. He doesn’t deserve her and Roman sucks too. They all suck.

I’m not rating this. Dump them all and get therapy girl.

Weak Women

Spoiler alert:
This book would of probably been great if the writer didn’t write such a weak Female. SIX YEARS LATER, really and she becomes a child needing her friends to hold her up when seeing him for the first time, getting drunk after six years of teenage love. Give me a break. I love a good love story with pain, but can you please start writing women who can be in love but also not give up they whole life and become weak plaything just to make the male look good. This man took your virginity and didn’t contact you in SIX YEARS. I just couldn’t get pass the first meeting and h just goes with him to the bar, why even acknowledge him, just say hello and move away. Let him chase you, let him crawl, but like all these New females writers, the man penis has the power to just make females unable to think or be reasonable, his looks and his body is just to much for me to have dignity. I quickly Deleted it from my library and was kinda pissed off that I rushed and waste money.

If somebody can explain, why was Aubrey so pissed off at Jax? The boy had some problems too girl, calm the f down.

Aubrey and Jax's story spanned for more than a decade. They met as children, but a tragic circumstance pulls them apart. Although both fought their feelings for years and were caught in a web of lies and deceit, some things are inevitable and so was them coming together at last.

I really enjoyed this debut by Ms. Rose. You can see some LJ Shen influences in the way the story develops. The story brings the plight of the disappearances of and abuses suffered by native women, something that never gets covered by the media. This story has a lot of angst, which is one of the trademarks of the new adult romance sub-genre. There were some phrases that were repetitive that pulled me out of the story several times, but this is something easily fixable. The character development was solid. I feel the story dragged a little bit in the middle of the book, perhaps I was a bit impatient and wanted a more fast-paced development. All in all a solid debut by Ms. Rose and I can't wait what comes next for the Stonewood brothers!!!

I really went through waves with this book. One second I’d love it, couldn’t put it down. The next I’m rolling my eyes trying to convince myself that it’s ok to DNF a book. But I’m stubborn and finished it anyway.

The characters: there was a clear attempt to create a depth to both of the mcs, and it just never translated for me. It didn’t feel authentic at all. They felt contradictory, and forced. My contempt for Jax only grew as the story went on. He was callous and selfish despite the authors attempt to make him seem devoted.

The romance: what a waste. I was so excited with the setup, but it just kept devolving into something else and I couldn’t keep up. First it was best friends brother/first love. Then it was a trauma bond. Then I thought it was going to be a second chance after healing from said trauma, but it took on a whole new life that was just confusing.

The spice: it was fine. The dirty talk was pretty good, but the buildup of these two reconnecting didn’t really land with me because again, I hated Jax.

The plot: this is where I struggled the most. Jax and Aubrey’s trauma bond honestly wasn’t that extreme. At least not as “toxic” as the author tried to portray. Their whole relationship after the fire only lasted a summer, and in all honesty it seemed like they helped each other rather than hurt each other. I understood him leaving because he didn’t want to continue enabling her, but what exactly was he enabling? I’ve read many books where couples reconnect after a trauma bond that needed to be severed, and this wasn’t it. Again, it felt like the author was trying to create a depth or a severity to their relationship that just wasn’t there. The “blackmail” was so fucking flimsy and without a doubt my least favorite part of the story. Like…when she found out her trust fund was from the Stonewoods and not her mother, she didn’t even care that much? She felt a little guilty and asked to pay it back, they said no and moved on? Jax’s justification for going along with Franks schemes were always to protect her from this revelation and it never even mattered? So fucking stupid. This whole plot with Frank really just read as a way to create a more high stakes/dramatic scape for Jax and Aubrey to maneuver through and it felt unnecessary and again, flimsy.

Oh, also while I’m here. I think everyone’s damn tired of second chance romances where the mmc gets to be a manwhore during their separation while the mc is practically celibate. Jax telling Aubrey he envisioned her every time he was with another woman, and justifying singing her song and kissing another woman to it, it was disrespectful and didn’t land as romantic as intended.
