Bay Winchester is newly married and happy. Things have been quiet since she returned from her honeymoon, which means trouble is just around the corner. When it comes, it takes the form of a despondent man on a bridge. Despite her best efforts, Bay and the hostage negotiator can’t save him, and death is swift.
That should’ve been the end of it, but a weird symbol on the dead man’s hand piques Bay’s interest, and when the negotiator turns up sick with the same symptoms, she knows that they have a problem on their hands.
Suicide as a contagion? It’s not the fight Bay was expecting, and it’s definitely not the one she was looking for. Still, it’s the problem that keeps on giving...especially when it spreads to Mrs. Little.
In her heart, Bay knows that she shouldn’t care about the woman who has hurt her family at every turn. Ignoring the problem isn’t an option though. If she stands back and does nothing in an attempt to end the chain, she’ll never be able to live with herself. If she gets too close, she could get infected herself.
Bay has never doubted her magic, but the current fight is out of her wheelhouse. Magic is at the core of what’s happening, but their enemy is invisible.
The Winchester witches have never met an enemy they can’t fight...until now. Will they be able to pull together and save Hemlock Cove? Or is the town doomed to fall to a curse without a name and an evil without a soul?
Strap in, because the answer is more than anybody is expecting, and if everybody is to survive, the fight will have to move to an entirely new level.
The game is on. In this one, the winner will take all.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
This was another pretty good story. The author has certainly got her story-telling skills honed. I couldn’t put it down today.
There are never cliff-hangers and this one I didn’t guess how it would end until I was in the middle of her solution to the threat that Bay (the heroine) was dealing with.
Another happy ending as well which makes me happy with the book. I like closure.
DNF at Chapter 12. I have been reading this series for years and have enjoyed, but I have to say this book and the one before was lacking. It was like reading a re-run episode of Charmed. Am I the only one who saw this?
Piper/Cove gives birth to a boy instead of a girl. Piper's new demonic stepmom/Clove's midwife tries to steal the baby for their own purposes. Grams/Aunt Tillie is miffed that the baby is boy instead of a girl. Wyatt's/Calvin's powers affects all of the family.
One of the most entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series out there
One of the most entertaining urban fantasy/paranormal cozy mystery series out there. An extraordinary cast of characters and an awesome storyline. This is one series out of mini in this magical world by this author. Every single one of them are extraordinary. Wicked witches of the Midwest series is by far one of the most entertaining series you’ll ever read. If you’re just getting started in Paranormal cozy mystery than this is the one to start on. A family of witches living in a Little northern Michigan town. The town has re-branded itself as a Paranormal town for tourism sake. Is a town full of humans pretending to be witches but there’s actually a family of witches pretending to be human pretending to be witches. Their mothers three sisters own a bed-and-breakfast in the town. Each of those sisters has a daughter and those three daughters are also witches. The daughters are all in her late 20s early 30s. Summer married summer not at least not yet. Most of the time it is focused on the character of Bay Winchester the oldest cousin. Yet it spreads the story around to all the different family members and their friends. There are even short Novelas here and there about the other characters that focused mostly on those characters is the main issue. This is the 20th book in the series as far as the main books go. They Winchester is becoming one of the most powerful witches in her area if not the state. You also cannot forget aunt Tilly she is the three older mothers aunt who raised them and helped raise the cousins. She is a wild cat character that does what she wants when she wants and how she wants. She is in her 80s and is as eccentric as all get out and what the most entertaining characters there is. Read on and find out the adventure in this chapter of the series. You will not ever be disappointed with this series.
I know this isn't the end "end", but the end of this series. I know we will get more Winchester magic and Aunt Tillie and Bay and the others. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad though. That being said, this book was fantastic! Shenanigans and Hijinks abound! Love, loss, action, mystery, this has it all. I'd highly recommend this book and series to anyone. I can't wait for more crossovers and seeing what happens in the future.
This story is somewhat disappointing and not up to the usual hilarious standards. There aren't half as many laughs as usual. It's alot slower, and just not as good as the rest. I am disappointed as I has been really looking forward to it.
I love this book series but they learn NOTHING and this is book 20. I mean her husband still the same annoying guy and right now I don't see the point of him. Till is the only reason I read this book cause she's always a blast.
The Winchester witches are at it again. In book twenty, Friday the Witchteenth, they are better than ever, and the magic flies as life in Hemlock Cove turns upside down. Someone has cast a curse; it is somehow infecting innocent people. Bay is smack in the middle of another murder investigation, and Aunt Tilly is enjoying tormenting Mrs. Little a bit too much. It almost seems as though life has returned to normal in the Winchester family since Bay’s wedding, but not quite.
A curse that causes people to become infected with bad luck leads to death. Landon and Bay are on hand when the first victim plunges to death. But not long after, Bay realizes that the curse may have transferred to someone who had contact with the first victim. She works frantically to stop it in its tracks, but with one small misstep, the curse finds its next victim and then another; Bay can’t allow it to escape her magic again. Lives are at stake as Bay, Landon, Aunt Tilly, and Terry track down the curse and the person who cast it. It takes everything Bay has to counter the curse that may well lead to the death of the one person in her life she always knows will be there and who will always get her into and out of trouble, Tilly.
There really is only one suspect in this story, but other characters play a pivotal part in finding the culprit and putting an end to the curse that is plaguing innocent people and causing them to kill themselves. Evidence is only based on the past and what Bay learns from the victims and their loved ones. It doesn’t take long to make the connection to the who, but the why will take readers a bit longer to figure out. Tilly is running around as usual tormenting Mrs. Little, this time in a unique fashion, but soon stops when she sees her old nemesis losing her mind. As she says, nobody gets to torment Margaret Little except her! With help from friends, Bay puts an end to the curse and the people responsible. The killer is put to an end, and the case is closed firmly.
I love the Winchester witches, all of them, even snarky Thistle. Clove is still not my favorite character, but she adds drama to situations that could otherwise be a bit boring. The new baby has excellent potential for future stories. I would like to have seen the sub-characters play a more significant role in this book, but hopefully, the next one will showcase all of their talents and allow readers to experience their collective sarcasm, wit, and power all at the same time. I loved the cross-over aspects of Friday the Witchteenth, the curse was unusual and intriguing, and of course, Aunt Tilly will always win my heart. I hope to grow up to be just like her one day! If readers haven’t read any books in this series, I suggest you do that before even trying to read this installment. If you love this series and haven’t read this book yet, find a comfortable place to sit and enjoy, but make sure you have a pillow to scream into or a tissue to wipe away the tears.
I absolutely love the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series by Amanda M. Lee. She is quite amazing. I'm consistently impressed with the humor in this series.
So, what magical adventure do we have for Bay Winchester and her entire family in the 20th installment of this fantastic series? Well, a curse, of course. And a curse that may shake the Winchesters to their very core when Aunt Tillie takes the curse on herself and Bay and the family have seven days to break the curse or watch Tillie die. Can they do it? Of course they can. It's the Winchesters. there's never any doubt that they'll succeed, but figuring out how the curse got placed, and who placed the curse in the first place, is the fun of this highly imaginative ride.
I would not jump right into Book 20. You will miss too much of the sheer joy of this series by jumping in here. Instead, go back to Book 1 and start making your way forward.
In the review I made of the first book in this series, I mentioned that I hoped the author would bring Scout and Gunner into this series at some point. I'm Elated that Amanda M. Lee did just that! The characters I just mentioned, are in the "A Spells Angel's Cozy Mystery" series. It's Scouts story that I was introduced to Bay, Landon, Chief Terry, and the Winchester's family. it's a Great series too. The same snark and humor.... if you like these types of books, you'll love that series also. As for this book, it was another AWESOME story, with another great twist! I continue to recommend this series. 😊
A!ways excited to get a book release with the Winchesters ! Loved the book. I always get a happy feeling at the beginning because of this series. I laugh. I get teary-eyed. I get an uncomfortable feeling that something could cause a loss of a character. I am surprised when a crossover of characters makes an appearance. So fun! Then i am at the end of book and sad because it is the end. Can't wait till the next book is released. Excellent series!
There were definitely some plot in consistencies in this one. People asking for more information when the situation had already been discussed. A new character introduced and just disappeared after helping out with a part of the puzzle. One character provided information about another character and then asked who that person was a chapter later. About a fourth of the story is Bay and Landon telling each other how wonderful they are. I'm about over that. I stopped reading the series for a while. Maybe it's time for another break.
The women and men that are part of the Winchester family love and annoy each other like most Midwestern families do at Thanksgiving. The bickering and weak threats along with the love and caring remind me of known family. The witchcraft and other magic just ads spice. The main thing is that NOBODY outside your family can mess with someone in your family without suffering SEVERE consequences. Once again, Bay with help from her biker and ghost friends along with Landon take care of business. Oh, Calvin is adorable.😁
I love this series. Aunt Tillie makes me laugh out loud. This book was a fun read but also showed how much love is in the Winchester family. I am enjoying Bay become more self confident in her abilities. Also a new character arrive in Hemlock Cove so I am interested to see if she becomes an important character and Allie moving forward. Love this series, love the snarkiness this family communicates with. Always makes me laugh.
This is another of the many great adventures of the residents of Hemlock Cove. I loved the mystery and the cross over from other series is great! I wasn't able to quite predict the outcome of the story this time as it was nicely hidden. I love the dynamics of the characters and the antics of Aunt Tilley. This is a great series and I was hooked after the first one. I highly recommend this and all of this Author's series, you will not be disappointed!
Your so mean first you made me cry in last speakeasy book at Sullys dying wish now you have me crying again because Aunt Tillie was cursed to die but as usual Bay saved the day I wanted to slap Winnie for what she said to Bay then give Bay a cwtch tell her you are not to blame this family always blame you they put to much pressure on you hun your amazing I get so engrossed in your books I forget it's a story sometimes
Such an amazing story, drama filled as only the Winchester Witches can do it!. Bay and Landon are still in the honeymoon faze, Clove is a blissful new mother, well as blissful as Clove can be lol, Thistle is determined to be Calvin’s favourite Aunty, the moms are enjoying having a baby to dote on and Aunt Tillie is torturing Margaret Little with unicorn farts. Hemlock Cove is always entertaining.
Friday the Witch twenty (Wicked Witches Midwest book 20
This is my favorite Author and she writes the most wonderful characters, the greatest storylines, the best paranormal characters and mysteries. I highly recommend all her books and every different name she uses for different series. They are allgrat. I have read over 60 of her books and loved every one of them. Diana Romano
Aunt Tillie has been a pain in the side for years! We all love her for her wild ways. We see how much family means to all the woman when Aunt Tillie seems to have gotten cursed. Bay is the strongest of the bunch and everything falls on her to fix.
I was all for this book. There was a great twist to the story. We had to go back to the beginning of the story to finish the end. Great fast read. A great addition to the series.
I just couldn't get into this book. Normally I devour these books like the brain candy they are. This book didn't pull me in like many of the others. The normal banter and laughs were missing right from the beginning. I realize this story is more serious because of the dire consequences attached to the curse, but it felt flat from the beginning and the end was predictable. Why pull in a character from a different series and then barely use them?
I seriously love this series. It's the one I look forward to most. This book doesn't disappoint. I love how Bay has evolved from where the series started. She gets more badass with every page. The story and characters continue to be interesting and engaging. I promise to wait patiently for the next installment. Oh, man. I am so looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth reading. Thank you!
I absolutely love the Winchester Witches and have eagerly awaited the release of this book. It was exactly what I expected and I loved it. Even twenty books in, I can still be surprised. The Wicked Witches of the Midwest are one of my absolute favourite series and I read several book a few times already. It’s my happy place to go back to and I’m looking forward to the next book, I can’t wait to see how Aunt Tillies new lessons play out.
I enjoyed this book enormously. It was fun, and sad (because suicidal curses) and bigfoot-ish... well that was just a tiny piece but kinda great. Scout and Gunner had a brief cameo in the end. Aunt Tillie was great as always. I couldn't help wish just a bit that Mrs Little died even thought I knew she wouldn't. Intriguing story and I still hate cults.
I always look forward to each new instalment of the Winchester saga and this time was no different. The storyline this time was amazing!! Everything went by the way side while I was pulled into their world again. Forget everything you have planned once you start this one!!!! 5 stars weren't enough!
It’s like the old time serials of old. I know youngsters won’t remember but it was like weekly installments in the movie theater before the main attraction (think soap operas but with Superman). So great and so worth the next one. I love what Amanda has created,so unique yet so familiar. Thanks.
My largest enjoyment reading books by Ms. Lee is her wicked sense of humor. I also enjoy her quirky characters and the mayhem that occurs in each of her books. If you enjoy the witch paranormal books and love a good laugh read this series, but start at the beginning of the series.
This family is one of a kind, they argue like the rest of us ,they love like the rest of us, and they protect like the rest of us. The difference between them and us is they have magic. Oh and aunt Tillie. We all should have an aunt Tillie. If you are fortunate to have an aunt Tillie, hold her dear and give her the world.
Anyone who has been with the Winchesters all along will likely have a heavy journey on this one. Amanda writes emotions so well that it's easy to take them on while our favorite witches are tackling a problem. A wonderful story full of twists, bad guys and family.
I always enjoy the wicked witches of the Midwest! Aunt Tillie rocks and I love her antics. This was another fun and exciting story. Scout should have been called in earlier as she is always a fun character. I’m waiting for Thistle to get some powers and shine as a witch. She seems to have been left out when the witch powers were handed out!!
Amanda M. Lee has written another winner in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest Series. It has all of the snark we have come to expect and the well thought out story line that we have come to expect. All of the family members are involved and the story keeps moving along at a good pace. I look forward to the next installment.
In the lives of Bay Winchester and her family! As usual Aunt Tillie tries to steal the limelight. But with a cult practically in their backyard and a curse running a muck, once again Bay with help of new hubby Logan and friend Stormy manages to save the day. Or in this case Aunt Tillie!
