Four Leaf Felony - 3 Stars - Violet Rhinehammer -A cute screwball mystery, I didn’t love it nor did I hate it. Will probably read book 3 because I already own it.
Mother’s Day Murder - 3 Stars - . - A lot of things in this book did not work for me. I didn't care for the narrator's voice; it took half the book for the plot to open up. I never really connected with any of the characters. Overall, it was not a terrible story, just not my cuppa.
I love the concept, and the characters are well developed. But sometimes the book jumps around, and there is a lot of editing that is missed. One example is in the flower shop, the boutiques and arrangements are being admired, when I think it was meant to say bouquets and arrangements. It kind of pulls me out when wrong words or poor grammar and spelling is used. But if you can deal with it, the stores are pretty good, except the ending doesn’t really close the loops like most cozies. But an enjoyable read otherwise.
Felony - Violet Rhinehammer has left Normal for her dream job in California. There’s just one problem – the dead body she found on the airplane. And now she’s stuck in Holiday Junction where every holiday is celebrated to the ultimatum. Thus starts the new spin off series by Tonya Kappes. This was an enjoyable mystery. I loved the new characters and I can’t wait for the next holiday!
Mother’s Day Murder - This is the second holiday book in Violet Rhinehammer’s new life in Holiday Junction. Just as Violet is trying to settle in her mother arrives and announces she’s moving in and getting divorced. When Violet’s mother is the main suspect in a murder, Violet is on the hunt again. Fun book.
A Halloween Homicide - Violet Rhinehammer is in Holiday Junction and the celebration for Halloween is coming up. Not Violet’s favorite holiday. She agrees to go on the Ghost Walk during the afternoon to avoid the scariness. Somehow, that didn’t work. Between Violet’s mother who’s now living in Holiday Junction and her father who is feeling abandoned, Violet has enough on her hands. I love this new series centered around holidays.
Vio,etheads west to become a tv personality. On the way there is a murder. She is keen to find the killer and build her reputation as a sleuth. She goes from that murder to another one.
Interesting premise of a missed opportunity turning into a series of cozy mysteries in a small town. I feel that the series improves with each new book. The third in the series has a great twist.
The books were light-hearted and entertaining. There's not too much thinking involved but they are enjoyable. I have yet to guess the killer in the end.
