He wants a life with Sarah. Marriage. Kids. Everything.
But she keeps dragging her feet. No wedding date set and every time he mentions kids, she panics.
Sarah wants to marry Nick but she knows how quickly life can change for the worse. Watching her friend’s kids for the weekend is the perfect opportunity to teach Nick that having kids isn’t just playing video games and eating popcorn. It’s a lot of work.
But Nick has his own plans. He’s going to use this weekend to show Sarah that having kids, now, is a great idea.
Will Nick realize that kids are more work than fun or will Sarah finally be able to bury her past and take a chance on her future?
I love how this started out showing the playfulness Nick and Sarah share. Such a long way they have come since the "interview". But as this story shows, their work isn't yet done. They do know how to have hot, steamy fun!
The other thing I love is the way Ellis writes these stories. You can enter the fray at any point. You don't need to have read the previous books in the La Petit Mort Club series, which are intertwined and continuations, to enjoy the one in front of you. Are you missing out by doing this? Absolutely! But that shouldn't be a deterrent from starting this series, even if it is in the middle. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Nick And Sarah’s Steamy And Playful Babysitting Adventure Is An Easy Read About The Daily Challenges Of Parenthood And The Thoughtful Deliberations Couples Have About Having Children.
This is book two of La Petite Mort Club Intimate Encounters series. It can be read as a stand-alone. Book one of the series follows Terry and Maggie from The Dom’s Submission, book five of La Petite Mort Club series. Terry and Maggie are a new couple and have recently moved in together, but finding alone time is a challenge with Maggie’s three young children. In His Lesson, book one of this series, Maggie decides to surprise Terry for his birthday by arranging a weekend at La Petite Mort Club – their first together at the club as a couple.
This book follows a different couple that same weekend. Nick and Sarah from Six Nights of Sin and Six Weeks of Seduction, books one and three of La Petite Mort Club series, get a taste of what it is like to be parents when they babysit for Terry and Maggie during their weekend at the club.
Nick and Sarah are engaged and living together. Unbeknownst to Nick, Sarah has agreed to watch Maggie’s children as a sort of test for him. He wants to marry Sarah tomorrow and have a house full of children. She, however, is damaged by her past. An ex, a miscarriage, and fears – unfounded or not. She fears that she might not be able to carry to term, she might not be deserving, and that happily ever after isn’t in the cards for her. She doesn’t know how to share that with Nick, so he doesn’t understand why she refuses to plan the wedding. She hopes that by proving to him that he isn’t ready for kids, she won’t feel more pressure.
Isabella, Peter, and Davey – eight, six, and two – put the couple to the test, challenging their patience and perceptions about having children. A weekend of living with the ups and downs of having small children in the home makes the issue of children a reality and eventually facilitates honest conversions. As a couple, it is an important milestone for Nick and Sarah.
Nick and Sarah’s steamy and playful babysitting adventure is an easy read about the daily challenges of parenthood and the thoughtful deliberations couples have about having children. It is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are nicely developed. Nick and Sarah have wonderful chemistry and great banter. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Nick and Sarah. I rate this book four stars.

Nick had been pressuring Sarah about getting married and having kids Sarah surprises Nick with a weekend of babysitting 3 kids. They both realized that kids are a game changer. It’s a fun time of realization.

I found Nick and Sarah’s story captivating. It pulled me in and I found it impossible to stop reading. Ellis O. Day has a way of making you feel the characters. Sarah was shy and scared to live life but Nick was gung ho and very sexy. Sarah really captivated him and he went from wanting to loving. I loved both series and I so needed this last book “Playing House “ to finish it off. This author is very astute. Keep them coming Ms. O. Day. You have a fan for life. Now that I found you, there is no letting go. I am moving to your next book.
This is HILARIOUS novella - I mean, how often can he get hit in the n*ts by an uncoordinated child?! 🤣 - belongs in the world of La Petite Mort Club and continues the story of Nick and Sarah.
My thoughts: 🤣all the coïtus interruptes moments, Nick trying to get in some s*xy time whilst babysitting 3 rascals! 🫂relatable characters 🎙️excellent dual narration 💯recommend
What you need to know: 📚interconnected series 👥dual POV, 3rd person 🎙️dual narration ⌛️short chapters ⛓️sex club La Petite Mort Club ❤️HEA
Perfect accompaniment to His Lesson. While Terry and Maggie are playing at the club, someone has to watch Maggie’s three children. Enter Nick and Sarah. Discover the fun and frustration of an instant family for the weekend! Wonderful story.
Sarah and Nick just keep getting better and better. I laughed at his frustration when the kids kept interrupting them. That is life with kids. I enjoy when Sarah shares more of her past and insecurities with him and I love how patient he is with her.
Thank you for the copy of this book. This was a very playful adventure in babysitting for Nick and Sarah. What a turnaround for Nick. Not expected. I hope their story continues. Want to see what happens next. This author writes with a flair that makes you want to keep reading.
This was a really fun book to dive deeper into their relationship. Always excited to read more about them and how they are continuing to grow as a couple and as individuals.
Great story. Ellis knows exactly how to keep you interested in her fun loving characters. And how to keep the spice in their D/s relationship. So good!
Nick and Sarah are a very active couple in the bedroom, kitchen, living room and anywhere else in the house. Sarah has a lot of reservations about getting married and having kids. Because of her previous history. Nick knows about the majority of her history. He’s even going to therapy with her to help her overcome her fears and hurts. Nick is kind of surprised when Sarah stated that she volunteered their services to babysit their friend Maggie and Terry’s kids for the weekend. Basically the bet was about once the weekend was complete one or the other will surrender about either having kids immediately after they were married or waiting more less. It was basically a lesson for both of them to understand that having kids even though they were various ages under the age of roughly 6 that it’s not easy. The book is funny. There’s a lot of steamy intense scenes granted. But everything is just not about games and entertaining kids. They have clue about important stuff that comes with kids. As weekend babysitters, There’s a lot of typical mistakes that they make but that’s par for the course. It was enjoyable read. Each one has their own little secret an apprehension about their relationship and how the kids affected them. No cliffhanger but it seems like there could be another part to their story since this is the second book on them. I didn’t realize it until I looked up the reading for author. But this doesn’t start off like it was from a cliffhanger book.

TOO Funny – Life with kids is not easy! OMG – this is my first book from this author, and I love the style. This book was not only funny but romantically steamy. This story is about Sarah and Nick. They are engaged and apparently their story is in another set of Ellis’s books – Six Nights of Sin series, which I’ll have to read next. Apparently, she hasn’t set the date for their wedding and he is eager to get this to happen, but she is afraid that this relationship will end up disappearing because she is not ready to have a family. It is not that she doesn’t like kids, is that there something in her past that she is afraid of happening. She figures if she agrees to babysit three young kids with him, the having kids will die down on him and she can focus more on their relationship.
Let me just say – the story takes off when the kids come into play and he wants to have some intimate time with her, and they are not going to sleep!!! Their parents are funny too in this as they are going to a weekend getaway for the dad’s birthday, but when he comes back – he jokes by staying there longer so that the kids can play longer with Uncle Nick. The story is great, but I have a funny feeling that there may another one for them like their wedding and kids?

This book is amazing! The first book I've read by Ellis but it certainly won't be the last! The story of Nick and Sarah is hot, steamy and full of love and understanding. Nick wants to marry Sarah and have kids right away. And lots of them. Everytime she thinks about it, her past comes back to haunt her and the thought of being a mother frightens her. When her friend Maggie wants a weekend away with Terry, Sarah agrees to watch their three kids. Sure this will cure Nick of his desire for kids right away, they make a bet. The weekend is filled with wonderful times and rough times with the kids. By the time the weekend is over, Nick tells Sarah how he feels and she finally opens up and reveals some of the truth about her past and why the thought of having kids scares her. The two agree that the love they have will be enough, promising to work on and talk out whatever issues come up. This puts Sarah at ease and lets Nick finally know the truth about what why she has been so hesitant about starting a family.

Funny and utterly charming. 4.5 stars. I have read several books from this author and I have to say, that whereas I always found her work imaginative and steamy, I now have to also add, very funny, to that list. I was completely thrown by the way Sarah and Nick initially meet each other and have read their entire series. It was great to read their continued story with such firm HEA. Novels with babies and kids are always winners, especially when steamy sex and wit accompany the story. Warmth, firm loving commitment, as well as a strong physical attraction, leap off the pages of this well written and edited novel, with good use of vocabulary and scene-appropriate dialogue. I bet all parents would identify with some of the frustrations Sarah and Nick experience while babysitting their friend's 3 children. I would gladly recommend this book if you like a good laugh.

The little glimpses into our favorite Petite Mort Club members continues with Playing House. Anyone with kids, our babysitting them, can relate to this story. The sexual frustration (and some well-placed knees) were hysterical. They had me giggling out loud as I read the story. How I felt for Nick. The disturbance in their otherwise rather active and wild sex life was so realistically painful to read. Nick was so sweet and endearing through all the suffering he had to endure. I just loved him even more!
Don’t worry Ellis O. Day delivers all the steamy, sexy scenes that we are used to and love. Nick and Sarah’s passionate love continues on. This was just a sneak peek into what their future will eventually hold. Don’t worry Nick gets some very clever and wise advice from Terry. This was a fantastic read and it made me love Nick and Sarah even more!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and wanted to give my honest review. This is a little different than most of the books I've read by Ellis O. Day. The intimate chemistry is still there, building and hot as ever, but this one has a more personal camaraderie with humor and a playfulness to it. Nick and Sarah have been together for some time now but Sarah continues to forestall setting a wedding date. Not because she doesn't love Nick but because he wants children and Sarah has a past that has scared her off. That being said, Sarah has agreed to watch her friends three children hoping that Nick will realize what's involved. Does the adventure work out like she hopes or will it backfire completely and how will this couple handle the results either way? This was a fun read, pulling all the physical and emotional strings I've come to expect from Ellis O. Day.
What is it about this couple that keeps me wanting to read more about them? Maybe it's that the author has done a wonderful job of creating multi-dimensional characters.
Nick needs to be in control and he makes no excuses for it. However, he is also so in love with Sarah that he is willing to push his patience to the limit to allow Sarah the time she needs to heal from her ptsd. Sarah may have her issues, but she does stand her ground with Nick for the most part.
Although I've never had kids, having come from a big family I found the situations that came up while Nick and Sarah were babysitting to be very believable and found myself laughing out loud numerous times. The interaction between Terry and Nick was also priceless.
Funny story of a young couple thinking about kids. She is pretty sure she isn't ready, so she offers to babysit her friend's kids for the weekend, along with her partner. She figures correctly, as he (and she) are both totally sexually frustrated by the end of the weekend! He ignores all advice, and things are off the rails from the start. There are sweet moments too. This is not the usual in-depth exploration of sexuality of the main books in this series. In the main books, we get lots of the emotions of both partners as they explore each other in every way. We learn their kinks and their insecurities, and all their bad and good habits. This book is just a diversion, but a cute one with a point.
This is book two in the La Petite Mort Club Intimate Encounters series. This is Nick and Sarah's story. It has a great spin as Nick is the one that is all in for marriage and kids and the whole nine yards but Sarah is just not sure. The solution is to babysit her friend's kids for the weekend. Nick sees this as a chance to prove his point, all is good to move forward. Sarah sees this as a chance to prove her point, this is hard work. This is a fantastic story full of real concerns, love and laughter. Enjoy!

A sneak peak into their sexy future...........with kids!!!
Playing House is the continuing story of Nick and Sarah. Their story started in Six Weeks of Seduction so if you want to get a full understanding of these two then you should read that book first. I had not read Six Weeks of Seduction prior and I still really enjoyed Playing House. This book is funny, witty, romantic, very steamy hot and has some naughty twists. Ellis O Day is a wonderful writer and she has once again woven a great story-line and characters together into a thoroughly engaging and entertaining book.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
[1 star] omg, this book is soooooo bloody shit. there is no character development, no background, no history, nothing on how they met whatsoever.
the book started out fine but after that i feel like they just keep having sex for like 70-80% of the book. honestly, if i wanna read so much on sex, i would have refer to kama sutra or something. author's writing style is actually ok, it's just the execution that i have issue with.
a waste of my time when i could have read up other books in my kindle. people who wanna simply passed time will enjoy it probably.

Nick ticks all the boxes of the ideal fantasy partner and Sarah was a perfect match. They were playful and loving and so entertaining when they found having kids around for a few days would put up some serious roadblocks to those moments of passion they were so accustomed to.
I really enjoyed this fresh and fun story and encourage anyone wanting a few hours of enjoyment to pick it up.

Satah and Nick are explosive together. They spend a weekend taking care of children. Each planning on showing the other about what having children will do for their relationship. He is going to show her that having children will only bring them closer. She is going to show him that having children is not a piece of cake. Boy they both have it wrong.
