Is there a sector more rooted in the "status quo" than the combined social sector of local government, nonprofits, and philanthropy? Not in terms of passion or willingness to experiment, but in problem-solving. Their continued existence underlines that the problems don't get solved! Heather Hiscox walks the talk, and No More Status Quo is equal parts compassionate guidance and shaking the shoulders of industry complacency. People enter this work wanting to be changemakers but quickly become what Hiscox refers to as frustrated changemakers. Her PAUSE framework is a lifeline, and there is no one better to speak to changemakers not about changing the world, but as the subtitle says, to change the WAY we change the world.

Heather Hiscox does an amazing job of not only walking the reader through her pause framework for leadership but also demonstrating it throughout the book. This style of leadership is so needed in our workplaces, even though I know some are not ready for it. I highly recommend this book if you are in a leadership seat or wish to make positive change in your circles of influence.
