Drawn to the how and why of real crime stories and fascinated by the detailed police work, DNA reconstruction, and genetic genealogy, she started writing her books to share the details of these stories with her readers.
For book research, she splits her time between the USA and European destinations where she often visits some of the places where crimes have occurred.
With criminal apprehension and victim restitution as a personal cause, she donates a portion of her book sales to charities that fund DNA reconstruction to solve cold cases and charities that support the families of murdered victims.

This volume contains some truly shocking stories. I'm talking about the kind of cases that make jurors leave the courtroom.
There is surely a lot of evil in the world, and none of us is safe from it. It is painful to know that so many innocent people must suffer and die to satisfy the desires of the evil ones.
I am a huge lover of true crime so was very excited about this book. This book contains 20 cases of true crime, and even includes obscure ones that I have not come across before. I enjoyed the detail the author has put into, especially as she doesn't hold back from the gory details, which admittedly is something I enjoy in these books, and it really adds to the stories. Jamie clearly has a talent for writing true crime and it's evident that she has put time and effort into her research.
