Dude definitely was troubled and had an obsession with spanking children and an all-consuming fear of leftists. Other than that, the ideas are not entirely original but interesting and challenging the status quo. And, the ideas seem even more appealing now than thirty years ago.

After reading this, I've realized that everyone who talks about the cultural object of "based Ted" and "kaczynski posting" has never touched this book in their life. Ted's arguments are insanely flawed and collapse under honest intellectual pressure.

1) On Anarcho-Primatism and Eco-Accelerationism: Ted never truly answers what collapse actually produces his ideology, he deeply romanticizes pre-industrial life without seriously arguing with the pre-industrial mortality rates, poverty, violence, in social hierarchies there are far more rigid in oppressive than today's ones. The assumption underneath his ideology is completely indefensible and Ted really never addresses it through the book.

2) On The Leftist Critiques: the tendencies to believe in social norms so much that you have to psychologically enforce them isn't just unique to the left but also to the right. Coerced traditionalism is almost the exact same as coerced progressivism.

3) On Revolution: through my political beliefs, though I really hate the establishment, I believe A revolution is completely counterproductive, withdrawing consent from the establishment and the state and building competitive and voluntary alternatives takes human nature seriously while Revolution establishes a new elite violently.

How interesting

It's just a damn shame that Ted Kaczynski chose the violent path instead of the route of the old holy man hermits. There is not a doubt in my mind, after reading this, that he was a prophet. He saw these times that we live in coming and be called them exactly. Too bad he didn't choose to go the gradual way to get the word out rather than blowing people up. We all might have been better off.

I only read a few paragraphs but that's enough for me. I've seen this a few times in my life. Broken people, allowing stupidity, to escape the pain of reality. It's a cry for help, but it doesn't change the fact that it is stupid. Entertaining these types for the sake of pleasantry, will only bring you down, because no company is much better than bad company, and the stupid cannot be rationalized.

It is certainly interesting. Mr. Kaczynski makes a lot of points that I can't say I disagree with, but his writing could be better. I also feel that he lumps liberals in with leftists, those are two very different groups. Definitely worth the read, get inside Ted's mind.

It was alright...

He's sort of a parrot of other thinkers, (Marcuse and Elluel) the only idea of substance of his own is the power fufilling complex, that was interesting.
