Parenting Through Mental Blocks: How to Get Your Happy Athlete Back

Rate this book
Is your young athlete struggling with fear in their sport?

Do you believe in them more than they believe in themselves?

Are they falling short of their potential because they get stuck in their head?

Mental blocks are destroying sport careers and relationships every day.

This phenomenon hits the hardest in talented kids. Athletes, who can execute flawless skills, jolt to a stop and everything changes.

Parents who care the most make the biggest mistakes when this happens. The solution is not intuitive when you have an adolescent on the verge of losing everything you've all sacrificed so much for.

In this groundbreaking book, Rebecca Smith, M.A.A, sought after Mental Performance Coach, former fearful gymnast, gymnastics coach, and mom demystifies the process of guiding your athlete through a mental block, without being too controlling or too involved.

Whether your child's big dream is to do a skill without fear, or the Olympics, parenting the fearful athlete will work for you. It's the instruction manual to raising a happy, healthy, successful athlete.

This may be on the foundation of helping your gymnast through mental blocks as they train but makes great connection to any sport your child may be committed to. As parents, we think we just know best. However, some things need to be better analyzed to best support our young athletes. Since reading this, my daughter and I have a better relationship around her sport. I am more aware of how to treat her mental blocks and to just be available for if and when she wants to talk. Young athletes have so much pressure on them as it is, this teaches you how to take a step back and be the cheerleader over the pressure that may inevitably ruin the love for the sport. Highly recommend!
