Marquee Men #1
Showbiz, Baby
It is supposed to be the best week of Wesley's life. His longtime boyfriend is about to propose, and a musical he has written is about to debut on an Off-Broadway stage. What could go wrong? And then, he discovers that his boyfriend is cheating on him, and the star of his musical is fired for misconduct. All seems to be lost, but the answer to all of Wesley's problems might be in the form of the mysterious and handsome stranger he meets at a bar one night. Will this man be able to save Wesley's show (and maybe his love life?), or are happy endings something that only exist on the stage?

Kent Holland writes queer romance so well!! And Showbiz, Baby was no exception. It had a good story, great characters, and a very hot romance.

Kent Holland first came on my radar with his reels about the new Frankenstein and upcoming Wuthering Heights movies. I loved the way he thought and couldn’t wait to do a deep dive into his books.
Showbiz, Baby is the first book in his Marquee Men series and it intrigued the theatre loving nerd in me.
It should have been the greatest week of Wesley’s life - his Off-Broadway show is opening soon and life is good. Until he catches his boyfriend of 5 years cheating on him with their spin instructor. (Toby, said bad boyfriend, is a gaslighting creep.) And then his leading man is cancelled because of some very toxic tweets.
Which is why he finds himself sharing drinks with friends and flirting with a handsome stranger.
His nameless one night stand may be the one to save him in more ways than one…
The spice was spicy, but more than that the characters were so authentic. I empathized with their mental health struggles and loved their instant connection they way they supported each other. .
Bryan is a consent king, which is a huge green flag for me.
And Wesley, I would totally go to his Shakespeare musical Bard.
The way both MCs shared their struggles and allowed themselves to be vulnerable was beautiful.
Kent’s writing is so engaging and I found myself loving both Wesley and Bryan. Even a brief miscommunication is resolved because both men are so kind and decent. I love how their story ended, happy, hopeful, and full of joy.
I’ve downloaded the next two books and am looking forward to Wesley’s roommate Harry’s story next.

This is a modern mm romance set in New York City, the first book in a series that should be read in order. This story is about a man whose boyfriend cheats on him, he meets another man but has to work on healing his own heart. This is my first book by this author. I loved how real the story felt told to us in the MC’s pov through the book. Even though it’s romance, so one expects a HEA, it had the expectation of real life so one had no idea which way the story could go! I don’t often get to read a lot of queer stories written by queer authors which I have been searching for more and more; this was a great afternoon read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the characters and the feelings and memories it brought back for me when I was in my 20s. I highly recommend! It’s an easy read as I finished it in one day but that’s because I was hooked. I’m excited for the next book and look forward to this journey with Wes, Bryan, Kirby, & Harry ❤️ Hopefully Toby isn’t involved but I guess he’s a part of the story too 🙄😂

I'm enamored w/ Wesley & Bryan. They have incredible chemistry. Overall I really enjoyed the story & the characters vulnerability are so beautiful. And the intimate moments are exquisite. There's a lot of potential here and I think the author could use some beta readers to help tighten up the writing a bit. I'll definitely read more of the author's work.
