Harker's Barker-Meter

4.5 stars - Harker and Alison are undoubtedly entertaining, even when frustrating! LOL!! They sizzle and spark in and out of the bedroom. 🔥🔥🔥 I love their game with Harker's Barker-Meter and how they both play dirty to win. It definitely added some humor to the book. Which, given how often Harker has an open-mouth-insert-foot moment, the laughs are welcomed. 😘😂

Every now and then, Harker redeems himself with playful things like,

“I never said the kiss would be on your lips.”

Thus proving that he does occasionally know how to "people." And causing me to melt like butter.

I really can't get passed how funny this turned out to be. This one had me rolling. Harker gets himself into trouble with Alison again and finds this message as her outgoing message,

"Hi, sorry I can’t get to the phone right now. Leave a message unless you’re Harker. Then don't bother. Just go to hell but before you do that, I want you to know that I’m having a really, really good time."

These two definitely keep things interesting! 😄💚😄 I think Ellis could write their shenanigans until she's old and gray and I'd still love it!

I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book. You should note that this is the second book in a La Petite Mort Club sub-series. This book should not be read unless you have read book one of the Billionaire's Baby but can be read independently of other La Petite Mort Club series. You could probably muddle through it but are unlikely to truly enjoy and appreciate some of the nuance. Oh, one other thing, this book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger - meaning Harker is left hanging in the wind by his own designs... yet again. 🍸😈

please know you need to read the entire series to get this story but oh man it is oh so worth it. Author Ellis O. Day does know how to write a great read. You can pick up the entire series in one offering and that is my suggestion so look for it. In this novella we discover Alison knows now the inter workings of Harker and has given into his "idea". They are married now and life gets interesting to say the least.

Harker and Alison are at it again. Book one left them at the club, with Harker enlisting Ethan’s aid in helping him to teach Alison about different kinds of pleasure. But after a confused Alison runs off to the restroom, Katie, the waitress, brings drinks and mentions the last time she saw Harker just as Alison returns, causing her to realize that Harker was at the club on their wedding night. And so the back-and-forth continues. What happened at that sex club? This topic keeps coming up between the two main characters. They each continue to blame the other, but somehow, Harker always gets back into her good graces, and the sex gets better and better. They argue about who orders what kind of food and their dissatisfaction with the choice. Their competitiveness leads to mind games and trying to manipulate and best each other.

She is growing on him. “You were made for me.” He is slowly falling or her and it is making him scared and happy at the same time. He admitted to using every trick in the book to keep her working late so that he could keep her with him. She learns that a perfume that she wears called “Vanilla Cream” brings back bad memories from his childhood because it reminds him of cookies baking. To learn more about his childhood and living in foster care, she devises a game with the winner getting whatever he/she wants from the loser. She hopes that WHEN she wins she will convince Harker to talk about his childhood. But the game starts to play havoc with their relationship.

This is a fun book to read. How Harker keeps convincing Alison to return to his bed is skillfully done. The sex scenes are so super-steamy that they sizzle and explode. Harker’s words to entice Alison to engage in sex are arousing enough for the reader to feel the teasing tension. And this author is so good at thinking up brilliant and quick-witted games as she has also shown in her earlier books. The dialogue between her characters is so saucy, so engaging, so clever, each page giving us more crafty speech patterns to dwell upon. That’s my favourite thing about her books, the spicy and juicy banter!

Ellis O. Day has steered away from the darkness of the BDSM world and made it fun and exciting to peek inside the doors of the La Petite Mort Club and learn about the bizarre world of sex clubs. A good author always brings you back for more and so she has done with her characters, who although they frequent these sex clubs for fun, they are all looking for true and everlasting love. Kudos to you Ellis O. Day for another read that tantalizes the taste buds.

Nope. Absolutely no. I was originally here to give it a one star but decided both Alison and Ellie deserve one each.

The amount of gaslighting Harker does in this book is absolutely fkng irritating and nauseating.

It was his plan to include/invite Ethan and then when he was making alison feel good- according to what they've decided, H proceeds to get mad and E leaves saying he'll never join him again. Then H proceeds to blame A,
his wife, whom he'd bought to the club, not considering that she was uncomfortable with doing anything in public and inviting a third person, -
That she was ready to jump into E and would've probably liked it too.
When she up and left, he sweet talked her into going home

One thing I absolutely hated, HATED throughout the two books is that he never flipping listens. NEVER.

She said she needs leaves. No
She says she needs break and she's been overworked. No
Shes going on a date and needs to leave early. No
She doesn't want to marry him. No
He literally trapped her into marriage saying she'd be the head of the department and part owner of the program SHE WROTE HERSELF
always bring up how she laughed on their wedding night
That she's the reason he went to the club on the wedding night
That she always speaks too much
That she always fights and argues

I get being a dom means forcing some things for pleasure/benifit but this man is not suitable for the title dom.

He never gave her space. Not when she asked him to. Not when she demanded space. Not when she needed space.

He needs s** way too much that he's blind to everything else. Even her. Her emotions. Her feelings.

I cannot tell you the amount of times my hand itched to throw the phone against the wall and watch it shatter into pieces.

Oh and DONT get me talking on about the freaking contract.
Richard is right. H is a disgus worm

For two people who pride themselves on their communication skills, they seem incapable of applying it to this marriage that stopped being fake the moment they had sex.

Speaking of which, boy do they have sex. They barely speak. It's fighting and sex. Then more fighting and more sex. However, it's good sex and I continue to get a little more curious about Ethan. I was looking forward to that threesome.

Now, I don't dislike Alison but I wish we could get more than righteous indignation in mass production. A contract like this should have been reviewed by a lawyer. She chose not to. Continuously getting upset because she didn't read the contract nor find her husband attractive on their wedding night is getting old. I just want her to get a pregnancy test and we move on to the reason we came here. The baby.

There are no ovulation charts, nothing being used to chart the course to their end goal. Just vibes. No testing for markers. Sickle cell, etc. Just vibes. And I am okay with that. But to really be okay with these glaringly obvious plot holes, I need more than the same rinse-and-repeat storyline. Argue then sex. More assuring. More sex. Then an argument and we do it all over again.

I came here for a story and while the sex isn't bad, let me see why I should fall in love with these characters and their story. Because as is, if not for Harker's dry wit and brutal honesty (to us and Ethan anyway) I would be done with this series.

Making the Baby is not quite so easy for these two

Making the Baby is the second book in The Billionaire's Baby series and continues the story of Alison and Harker. When Harker decides he wants a baby the only woman he can see being the mother is Alison. Well not really the mother but more the woman that carries it for him. In the previous book they were married, one of her conditions for this arrangement, and had quite the memorable wedding night to say the least. As Harker is a member of La Petite Mort Club he decided to take Alison there in hopes that it might bring to the baby making stage of their relationship, as one of his conditions was they try it the natural way before going the IVF route. Things seem to be on track but then go off the rails more than once.

Alison and Harker have an interesting relationship as they have snarky/witty banter which makes me laugh out loud and then other times I want to bring their heads together as they go off the rails. I am quite enjoying this series and had a good time with this second book. I can't wait to read the next to see what these two get themselves into next.

[this is book 1 of a series]

One offer. One condition. One unforgettable temptation.

I don’t know what it is about the La Petite Mort series, but for some reason I am H.O.O.K.E.D.! 🫠
It all started with Six Nights of Sin: 6 Book Series, which immediately threw me into Six Weeks of Seduction: La Petite Mort Club, Book 3.
And now I just binge-listened to The Billionaire's Baby: The Complete Series (Books 1-4): La Petite Mort Club, Book 7!
I finished the full +19hrs between Saturday and Monday!? 🙃

And I don’t even like dual narration or 3rd person.
So what’s up with that!? 🤷🏼‍♀️

So all I can say is:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the story by Ellis O. Day
👏👏👏👏👏 performances by Summer Morton and Robert Hatchet🎙️

My favorite quote:
"Yes." He pushed down his annoyance, reminding himself that trust took time. He'd been in a relationship with her for almost a year, but she only joined two days ago.

What it is about:
A billionaire boss propositions his brilliant employee to have his child through unconventional means, leading to a steamy romance.

My thoughts:
💋irresistible and seductive
💊unexpectedly addictive
🫂relatable characters
🎙️excellent dual narration
💯recommend
🤣I initially thought his last name was Barker, but that got clarified with the launch of Harker's Barker Meter

What you need to know:
📚interconnected series
👥dual POV, 3rd person
⌛️short chapters
🫠he falls first, he falls harder
⛓️sex club La Petite Mort Club
❤️HEA (in book 4)

Making the Baby is book 2 - yay!
Harker and Alison's marriage has got off to a bad start so he decides to take her to La Petite Mort Club for a 'honeymoon'. Things go wrong and it seems he's blown it.
We get more of a glimpse into both of these characters' true feelings for each other in this second instalment; feelings neither is willing to share with the other, although to be fair, Harker thinks he is doing; it's just that Alison needs to be told explicitly and he is being (typically male?) implicit and expecting her to understand. And then the bombshell drops.
Still funny, still tender and still tortuous; these two are terrific characters and the story is full of humour and angst that will have the reader giggling and groaning and desperate for book 3!

Harker is a really tough character to like. Though, we learn a lot of the reasons why he’s closed himself off so tightly and I’m not surprised he’s a little bitter about love. I now have a much better understanding of what makes him tick. However, I’m still one hundred percent team Alison at this point. The competitive natures of this pair seem to regularly get the better of them. Incidents and disagreements that could have had simple solutions if they’d been handled by more level-headed people spiral into all out wars. I’m both fascinated and terrified to see where this latest difference of opinion is going to land them.

What did he expect when he introduced her to his world? He deserved everything that happened to him in this book. But so does she. Knowing how ruthless he can be and would do anything to win, she should've had a lawyer review the contract before she signed. He's a selfish pr**k. But I'm sure she'll give him more chances.
I'm really not happy the other 2 books aren't coming out until the middle of August and I will have to buy the entire box set to get last 2 books. If so, I won't be finishing this story.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Baby Bargain is the second book in The Billionaire's Baby series and they continuation of the story of Alison and Harker. What I love most is the witty banter between Alison and Harker. The book does end on a cliffhanger with part 3 hopefully coming real soon. I normally don't like serial stories but the characters are well developed. The chemistry is there, steamy to put it mildly. I am hanging hoping for a happily ever after.

Ellis has you chuckling and screaming at the antics between Alison n Harker!
I was rooting for Alison in their competition with Alison’s Harker Barker meter. As the steam builds up between them, I expect Alison’s doubt of Harker’s commitment to their marriage contract to resolve, but will it? I never expect Alison’s actions from Harker’s latest blunder. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so hoping the next book, “The Baby Battle” is out ASAP!

I absolutely am enjoying the story between Harker and Alison. They keep going back and forth between things being good between them and then something happens that throws them off again. Harker is starting to get attached to Alison though and their banter is so crazy and addicting. This does end in a cliff hanger and I can't wait to read the next story. Definitely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed book 2 in the Billionaire's Baby Book series by Ellis O. Day. Allison and Harker are so in love with each other but they just can't admit it. I was glad to learn why Harker is the way he is. It certainly explains his difficulty in having a true and honest relationship. At the same time I wanted to shake them both. And that cliffhanger had me left me screaming at my kindle. Cannot wait for book 3!

I'm so loving this series. Harker and Alison continue to work at their "relationship". If only Harker was able to accept his emotions and share them with Alison. And a chance meeting with a friend of hers from college leads to a surprising discovery about the contract that she signed - without it being reviewed by an attorney. Loved her solution although I'm sure there will be unintended consequences. I'm moving right along to the next book.

Normally I enjoy Day’s books. I really liked the Le Petite Mort Club series and all its characters. In this series, however, Alison and Harkner were a bit too much. Too annoying. And their bickering would go on and on for wasted pages. The story is nice, the sex scenes are erotic, and it has the requisite happily ever after. Just remember to start skimming when you come across a bickering scene.

What isn’t there to love about Harker and Alison? They are both smart, driven, stubborn and hot for each other. They can deny their feelings all they want but in the end they will always be tied by this baby. The fact that they want each other desperately doesn’t hurt either. I love how competitive this couple is and can’t wait to see what to read the banter and find out how they get their HEA.

A mismatch made in erotica heaven! Can one person in a relationship be too stubborn for their own good? What happens when it's both people? Funny, heartbreaking, and very sexy. This will have you rooting for this unlikely couple.

So far I’m really enjoying this book. The only 2 things I DON’T like about it so far are 1) you have to read 5? books to get the whole story; and 2)… ommfg… Alison gets so mad ver the same stupid shit constantly!! Like move tf on.
