To Break a Demon Curse: King and Coven, Book 2

Rate this book
Elara has been thoroughly taken in by the Demon King’s trickery, and she is determined not to let him back into her heart after all the lies.

But with the promise of his help rescuing her mother, Elara finds herself agreeing to a blood bargain to stay with him, learn to use her mysterious demon magic, and pretend to be his betrothed.

When the Daemon Lords issue their ultimatum for Elara to prove her loyalty, Elara will have to tread carefully between love, duty, desire, and vengeance to uphold her vow to leave the Demon King at the end of their bargain.

To Break a Demon Curse is the second book in the King and Coven series, and a spicy romantasy tale featuring forced proximity, fates mates, enemies to lovers, and fake betrothal.

4 Squished Spider Stars ⭐
Spicy Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

I have previously described Madeleine Eliot's writing as fluffy. Still, I've come to realize that sometimes what you want is something that is just fluffy and is going to take you into a magical, fantastical realm and just let you escape reality. Because who wants to be faced with reality lately??

This is the second instalment in the King and Coven Series, and it picks up almost exactly where it ended. Elara has been officially tricked by the Demon King (Carnon) and has been tied into an unbreakable engagement, which she thinks is a "curse". Now she is ultimately trying to break this contract but things get tricky when the Daemon Lords are summoned to the palace and Elara has to play the doting fiancee and prove that she wants nothing more than to be tied forever in matrimony with our dear Demon King.

We got to see a lot more world-building on the demon aspects in this instalment. We see more of the demon realm and courts. A little bit more insight into the lore, law and magic system of the demons.

One thing that I loved was the banter between Elara and Carnon, especially in the beginning. I was giggling like a little schoolgirl at their little snippets. But what I really enjoyed is that this book is filled with fast-paced action and was definitely the spiciest book that I have read ever from Madeleine Elliot. I enjoyed that there seems to be a good mix of exciting moments, some really heartfelt moments, and some nail-biting moments.

There are just two criticisms that kept this from being a full five stars to me. I felt that because I enjoyed the banter so much in the beginning, I missed the banter when it was gone. Once Elara and Carnon got back together again. Sorry, that's not really a spoiler. You're reading a romance book about these two. They're going to get back together eventually. The banter just kind of disappeared and fizzled out. It just then felt like we had "very lovey" comments and not the sarcastic wittiness that the characters had before. To me, this felt like they lost a little bit of who they were in the beginning.

The other aspect that I felt could have had a little bit more variety was the spice. The scenes were steamy, but by the third scene, I felt like they were very formulaic and repetitive. They were following the same pattern and you could almost predict the flow of what they were going to do, where he was going to touch her and how. I wanted a little bit more shakeup. There was also so much opportunity to make it a little more risqué, especially since he is a Demon King, he can use Shadow magic, and he has this shifter ability. I wanted to have a little bit more kink than it did, and it was just vanilla. But if you like vanilla - this is going to be the perfect high spice for you!

Overall, a cosy and fluffy magical second instalment, and I can't wait to see what happens in Book Three.

The Trope in this are:
▶ Enemies to Lovers
▶ One Bed
▶ One Horse
▶ One Bath
▶ SHADOW DADDY
▶ Fated Mates
▶ Primal Play
▶ Witches and Demons

So many thanks to Madeleine Eliot for the gifted ARC!

Two stars because Elara was very annoying for 60% of this book. All she does is fight and hate Carnon and calls him a liar and yells at him. I understand it, but for it to go on as long as it did was beyond annoying and brought down the reader experience.

Same issue as the first one. All Carnon does is smirk and all Elara does is snap.

I do believe that in time, the author can get better at this and expand on character expressions so they’re not always smirking and snapping at someone. Writing is hard. I understand it. But surely Carnon has more personality than just being able to smirk at her.

Also the side characters offer nothing to this story. They’re just there for conflict. The Crone’s motives aren’t explained. Neither is how she became the way she is. Elara’s mother is a nobody. She’s just “mama.” And hated by her own mother. Vera doesn’t really exist anymore. I’m not saying they all need to be super in depth, but if you’re conflict centers around the crone, she needs to have more dimensions to her other than she’s just a bad witch. How did she get that way? Why? Was she always this way? Why does she want to bring down the bloodwood? Questions that still don’t have answers.

I read this because it was free on KU. Will likely read the third since it will also be on KU.

I thought Elara was making progress last book but she is the dumbest MC 😂 she needs her hand held through every single plot point even when all the clues are right in front of her and mentioned multiple times and she just can’t put the pieces together.

The spice felt super repetitive as well and there’s no arc of the relationship. There’s no “rebuilding the trust” they go from like to love faster than the speed of light.

Oh gosh, the Queen of Cozy Fantasy Madeleine Eliot has done it again with this book - and it's not nearly as "cozy" as her previous books! The King and Coven series is ramping up to be absolutely bonkers as A LOT happens in To Break a Demon Curse. If you want the fantasy vibes of A Court of Mist and Fury combined with the primal vibes of books like What Lurks Between the Fates - you are REALLY going to like this book.

Now that she's made it to the Demon King, Elara has some tough decisions to make. Her trust was broken multiple times, she's still not safe from the Crone, and she's trying to figure out her magic. The steamy tension from To Hunt a Demon King is back as she tries to deny her feelings, but as they grow stronger she's at a loss for what to do.

Y'all, the spice in this one is the hottest I've seen in a Madeleine Eliot book. Though I don't love how pushy the MMC is at the beginning, things do end up working out, and there are some crazy spicy scenes.

Thank you so much for the ARC! To Break a Demon Curse is out on August 1, go ahead and preorder now, you are NOT going to want to miss out on this one.

I don’t enjoy reading about a character in denial about somebody else and unfortunately, that is exactly what this book was. It is totally pointless, since they always end up together.

I got real sick of Elara focusing on whether a touch was romantic or not real quick. I like Carnon’s character, but Elara got on my nerves a lot. I was 44% into the book and all I felt like I’d read was Elara being stubborn. I failed to see any decent progress in the actual plot.

65% in and there had been 0 progress made towards either finding Elara’s mother or taking down her grandmother, which are supposedly the main plot points of the story. The mystery of Elara’s father was blatantly obvious, pretty much from the beginning of book 1, so when the pin finally dropped, it was not at all exciting like I imagine it was intended to be. ”It also seemed unlikely that a single passage in a book could have driven Carnon to this conclusion.” There was far more proof of that theory than that one sentence but I’d already gathered that Elara was incredibly dim so I’m not surprised she made this into yet another petty reason to be cold to Carnon.

I thought I’d enjoy this book, given that book 1 was my #1 read in the month of April, but it disappointed me. 80% of the book was sex. Only 20% was actually a story.

Regardless, thank you Madeleine for the opportunity to read this ARC :)

The QUEEN of cozy has done it again!
Our favorite couple is back and it picks up right where it left off. So if you haven’t read “To Hunt A Demon King” then please go do that! This is the second book in the King and coven series and so far it is my favorite!
The fighting and banter between Carnon & Elara is stronger than ever and I am here for it!! You see a lot of character development with these two and we’re introduced to a bunch of new characters as well. Cerridwen & Brigid being two of my favorite side characters🖤

Elara has grown so much since THADK and she is no longer the sheltered witchling we met in the first book, she truly is a bad a** MFC.

✨TBADC is the perfect Sunday morning cozy read.

To Break A Demon Curse will be released on August 1st and the third book will not be too far behind. Madeleine Eliot is a writing machine 🖤

The Queen of Cozy has done it again!

What can I say about this book besides WOW! Elara and Carnon have grown so much since THADK. Elara has started to not only grow into her power, but grow into learning how to trust Carnon (if she can really trust him at all). This book was my favorite so far in the series, Elara’s witty comments to Carnon’s responses.

Sit back and drift away to the land of the Demon King. Don’t forget your macarons and your delicious cup of tea. This is the perfect read for a cold rainy day.

Oh let’s not forget the plot twist! I was not expecting that at ALL!

“And I was his, broken bits and all.”

"Let me make one thing perfectly clear to you, Red," he murmured, leaning in close to speak in my ear. "I do want you. If you gave me permission, I would take you against this right now and make you scream my name.”

"I will grovel for the next century in every way your dark little mind can imagine if you will just help me now.”

We don’t call Madeleine the queen of cozy for nothing. I love how I could just curl up and dive in this world right where we left off. We left off book 1 with Elara finding out that Carnon had been lying to her about who he was and many other things, but there is always more to the story right?

I love how Elara had the upper hand most of this book and that Carnon spent his time groveling for her. He is really good at it and their banter was top tier! Their little game of truth for truth was cute and I love how their relationship moved along. I found myself giggling a lot.

I also loved Elara’s friendships with Cerridwen and Herne and how they were protective of their world and Carnon, but also could see where he was in the wrong and didn’t give him a pass for that. Akela is still my favorite side kick animal, always the loyal guard.

The only reason I couldn’t give a 5 star is because I was really wanting more of the world. There was so much that could be done work the landscape and I kept waiting to hear more about everything new that Elara was experiencing. I also wanted more history about why the two worlds are at war and why the Crone had ended up the way she has. I’m hoping we get more of that in the last book. I cannot wait to see Elara come into her full power for this next book.

Thank you as always Madeleine for allowing me to read this early and review for you!

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off!

Elara, is working through her feelings about finding out Carnon’s true identity and the betrayal she felt at him hiding the truth from her.

We get to learn more about the demon realm and it’s politics, meet new demon characters, and learn more about Cerridwen and Herne (who also have their own novella coming out 8/1 as well!) who I love!

Throughout the book Elara uncovers more about her past and who she really is, the powers she posses, and what her evil Crone grandmother is up to.

This book is FULL of witty banter and sexual tension. Elara works hard to resist Carnon’s charm and it had me giggling the entire time. I absolutely loved their journey! I don’t want to spoil anything, but the spice was once again top their and I’m so happy with where they ended up in the end 🥰

This book also had some darker elements than the first, and the ending had me emotional. I’m SO ready for book two and to see how Elara finally gets her revenge.

DnF @ 22%. I hate when authors just stop the plot to just build up romance. Also the FMC was just getting annoying and the MMC just kept saying sexual things. It was just boring and stupid.

I love this series so much so far ! It's amazing. To break A demon Curse was everything I needed !

How the relationship between Carnon and Elara evolves is flawless.
I love how Carnon is groveling for her forgiveness.
The spice in this book is so hot. I actually melted 🥵.

Elara grew up a lot in this book. She's more sure of herself, she's less shattered. She's stronger in her power and learned a lot about her past.

I enjoyed everything in this story. Akela (the wolf) is becoming my favorite side character. His protectiveness, his softness for Elara is adorable.

Read this if you like Fated mates, one horse, claiming, spicy scenes, monster lover and found family.

Great second book of the trilogy. So emotional, I definitely felt like crying a lot in this one and then of course actually cried at the end. Love all the lore and the side characters in this one, especially the ones of the animal variety. Can’t wait to dive into book three!

“And I was his, broken bits and all.”

I’m addicted to anything and everything @madeleineeliotwrites writes. Simply put, I didn’t want this book to end. If I could sandwich myself between Elara and Carnon, I would stay there forever.

To Break A Demon Curse continues the story of Elara and Carnon as we watch Elara grappled with finding out who Carnon really is. It’s interesting watching her try to fight what her heart is screaming at her to do. As an eager reader, I was desperately rooting for them the ENTIRE book. They have a love that is unmatched.

What I loved most about this book was the way Elara really came into her strength, Carnon helps ignite this fire within her, and it’s incredible to watch her mature! Elara softens Carnon in so many ways and he helps strengthen her. The balance between these two, it’s perfect!

And of course, the spice is off the charts. Carnon WORSHIPS Elara. He is a giver and let me just say… HE GIVES HER EVERYTHING SHE NEEDS AND MORE! 🔥😈

The ending leaves so much to the imagination and I truly CANNOT wait to see where book three takes us. We have so much to learn on the depths of Elara’s power and where she comes from and I know those answers are going to blow my mind.

♥️ Tropes & Themes ♥️
✔️ enemies to lovers
✔️ fake betrothal
✔️ fated mates
✔️ forced proximity
✔️ magical bargains
✔️ spicy romantacy
✔️ hades x persephone vibes

The second series in Madeleine’s latest series, and this book was an excellent follow up to the first!! 😎 our Queen of Cozy cranks it all up a little more in this book! More world building, more steam, more drama, more EVERYTHING!!

Easily bingeable, it’s very easy to get lost in this series and before you know it - you’re at the cliff hanger ending! 🤣 but rest assured, not only is she Queen of Cozy, she’s also Queen of hyperfixation/speed writing and can pop off another fire book before I could probably even write a 3 page essay. 💀 truly, she low key spoils us and won’t let us suffer indefinitely while we wait months or years for books.

A lot of trilogy’s struggle with that second book. Not this one. It was fast paced, kept my interest, and enough world and lore building happened to keep the reader intrigued and invested throughout the entire story.

Stay tuned for Elara and Carnon’s epic finish coming soon! Until then, enjoy this book! It’s a really good one and a staple series for low-stakes romantacy lovers everywhere!

Before I begin, I want to thank Madeleine for an advanced copy of To Break a Demon Curse. It is an absolute honor and privilege! 🖤

Upon finishing this book, I found myself thinking of a phrase taught to me many moons ago by a beloved English teacher. "Le mot juste," which translates to "the right word." I'm truly trying to find the right words to express just how unbelievably enchanted I am by this series!

To Break a Demon Curse picks up right where the first book left off! You're introduced to new characters, some of which are very.. interesting. If you loved the banter in the first book, buckle up!

The arguments, the tension, the magic, the discoveries, the growth, the everything.. 🥵🔥

4.5 ⭐️ 3 🌶️

Cozy and spicy like an autumn morning.

Assuming you’re here since you read book one, I enjoyed book 2 better than the first.

We still have fated mates, slow burn, one bed, enemies to lovers, but Madeleine is also serving up some extra drama and action.

Madeleine has struck an excellent balance of the plot being interesting and the characters engaging to the book also not being super high stakes and stressful. That being said…that ending still was a LITTLE stressful hahaha.

The pacing of the book was great. The 1/3 is a little slower with the pining and longing, 2/3 is where we kick the heat up a notch, and 3/3 things just get wild. This series is excellent if you want a quick and fun read without committing to 600 plus page books.

So excited to see how this story comes to a close.

To Break a Demon Curse by Madeleine Eliot️

The second installment of the King and Coven Series is set in the Darklands, after our favorite witchling, Elara, has been thoroughly tricked by that wicked Demon King. Wariness and determination fill Elara as she's forced into a fake engagement and required to prove her loyalty to the Demon Kingdom. Elara must master the mysterious magic she's been cursed with, while also guarding her heart from Carnon, if they are to fulfill this bargain and save her mother.

It’s almost unjust how charming the Demon King is, poor Elara didn't stand a chance.

I absolutely LOVED TBADC from the first page. The clever banter between Carnon and Elara felt so natural and was pure magic.

Madeleine skillfully introduced a fresh array of characters from the Daemon Courts. As the story unfolded I found myself wanting to get to know each of the new personalities even more. Some were so charming that I accepted them into my heart immediately. "Who did this to you, and who must Pierre punish for you?"

Others, a particular Daemon Lady for example… let’s just say I can’t wait to see what becomes of them in the next book...

TBADC was perfectly balanced in its pacing, offering enough action and development to keep the plot moving, while taking the time to delve into the character and emotional development. Overall, I was very satisfied by the arcs that took place in this book. It felt well thought out and just meant to be.

The tender and intense moments shared between Elara and Carnon was my undoing. Their personalities perfectly complement each other. Watching them build trust and understanding and grow their connection made “Chapter 21” so meaningful.

Most satisfying of all, a lot of theories were answered as Elara’s history was unveiled. This shed light on her heritage and allowed us to understand her character on a deeper level.

The ending of the book was a heart-pounding roller-coaster ride that had me on the edge of my –well- bed. I really was not expecting that ending from the Queen of Cozy! I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment of the series and… VENGEANCE.

I wholeheartedly recommend reading this book immediately. It’s an absolute masterpiece. This series is the best thing I’ve come across in a long time. To Break a Demon Curse has captivated my heart and mind, leaving me utterly spellbound by its brilliance.

I know I’m not going to be disappointed when the Queen of Cozy©️ publishes a new book, and I definitely was not with book two of the King and Coven series, To Break A Demon Curse. I really liked the first book in the series, but I LOVED this book. The groveling and pining the Demon King must do to win back Elara’s trust is quite entertaining. It’s always nice to see the big, bad male with all the power all mopey and lovesick as he tries to re-woo his beloved.

I’m so glad that Elara matures and really leaves that sheltered little bubble she’d been living in all her life. I had a bit of a hard time connecting with her in the first book because she was so naive and childlike at 25. That is NOT the Elara we encounter in this book. Nope. Book two Elara is a bad bitch and is going to make the Demon King work his slithery little (big) tail off to get back into her good graces…and pants…he really wants back into her pants…Madeleine definitely kicks the spice up a few notches in this book. Thankfully Carnon stays mostly in his human-esque form…ma’am I cannot handle a full snake beast situation. Snakes friggen terrify me. Please don’t make me throw my iPad across my living room and then make me explain why I did that to my husband.

There are a handful of new characters that are introduced, to include the ominously sounding Daemon Lords from the first book. Some of the Lords are pleasant, one in particular just needs to be dowsed in Raid and set on fire in my humble opinion. Because nothing is ever easy, these Lords basically declare that they won’t accept Elara as the Demon King’s betrothed until she completes a task to prove her loyalty…all while Elara is still holding Carnon to his original deal to help her rescue her mother from the Crone.

Without getting spoilery, stuff goes down in this book. BIG STUFF! If you’re a fan of:

-weary strangers-to-lovers-to-enemies-back-to-lovers
-fated mates
-magical deals
-fairytale/mythology retellings
-forced proximity
-fake engagements
-who’s your daddy mysteries
-spicy romance

Check out the King and Coven series ASAP! Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your street team! I can’t wait for book three to answer even more questions!

✨"Who told you?"…..pulling back so he could meet my eyes. He was breathing heavily, and something smoldered in his gaze. Not anger really, but a kind of furious incendiary need.

"It doesn't matter," I whispered, my own chest heaving as I held his stare. "Don't stop." He didn't move, just continued staring at me.

I licked my lips and lifted my head, brushing a gentle kiss against his pursed lips. "Please."

Fantasy Romance 📖

✨I recently finished To Break A Demon Curse by @madeleineeliotwrites, book two in the King and Coven series, and godsss, I somehow loved this second installment even more than the first! It was fantastic 💃🏽

🐍This teasing, taunting, yet tender and swoon worthy enemies to lovers story begins a few short days after the concluding events of To Hunt A Demon King. Through her own heartache and betrayal, Elara attempts to find a way forward that will properly guard her heart as she uses a blood bargain to secure assistance in freeing her mother from the crone.

✨The plot was absolutely intriguing as we learned more about the motivations of the crone, and the potentially long forgotten prophecies. I loved the personal histories explored as the characters were further developed, and the continued world building as the histories of the gods, demons, and witches were discussed.

🐍The relationship between the main characters is one of emotional vulnerability and of passionate and primal need that I absolutely loved….Especially the more possessive and insatiable moments they share 🫦

✨I highly recommend To Break A Demon Curse to those who enjoy fantasy romance and romantasy.

🐍My most sincere and genuine thanks to Madeleine Eliot for having me on your ARC team and for giving us this amazing story and these wonderful characters. I look forward to continuing this series with To Wear A Demon Crown.

I was fortunate enough to receive an ALC of the audio narration for To Break A Demon Curse after completing my initial ARC read. Will update review regarding narration soon ✨✨🫶🏽

A solid 4.5-5⭐️ read with 3.5🌶️

I’ll try to make this as spoiler free as possible! Book 2 picks up right after Book 1 and it’s off to the races. Although at times Elara still has moments of naïveté, she’s shown a lot of growth and is showing herself to be a force to be reckoned with as she comes into her powers. I loved their witty banter again and I always get a chuckle out of Carnon and his “or something” and “interesting”. I enjoyed this book more than Book 1 and felt there was a lot being set up for Book 3. I did figure out the parentage of Elara early on, but it was still a fun read in trying to “solve the mystery”. I had some fun theories about Akela that Madeleine got a kick out of and laid down some more for coming up! I love the connection Elara has with Akela and Artemis and their roles in protecting her and Carnon.

The spice is super steamy this time around and is more abundant. There’s feasting, chasing, demon anatomy we love, and some shifter possibilities to come 👀. At times it could seem that Carnon is forcing Elara to accept him, but I don’t feel it was super strong. He gives her space (even if it’s a smidge lol) to think through her wants and needs and he’s ready to respond. Their “truth for a truth” and “yes or no” game is still in play and I love this! I adore how attentive Carnon is and though feral over her, wants it to be her decision at all times. There’s one part where Carnon reminds me of my husband when we were dating and it was the sweetest and shows vulnerability and just how smitten he is with Elara.

Girl still has a lot to take in at the end with the events that take place. Her emotions are all over the place and she has a weight on her shoulders and I can’t wait to see what happens next (thank goodness it’s only a month ish away!). TBADC is out 8/1 and don’t forget to check out the side novella To Claim A Daemon Lord out the same day!

Thank you for the opportunity to be on the ARC team!

I had the absolute pleasure of BETA reading the second book in the King and Coven series, To Break a Demon Curse by Madeleine Eliot. 💕

First of all, Madeleine is the Queen of writing cozy romantasy, and this book is no exception!

Secondly, you just need to read this book.

This one picks up immediately where the first book left off, so if you haven't read the first one yet, please go do that!

All caught up? Okay, here we go! 🖤

Elara is now trying to come to terms with the fact that Carnon is actually the Demon King, and she was tricked into becoming betrothed to him, courtesy of her mother’s necklace and her kindness towards him. But Carnon has relentlessly lied to her the whole time she's known him, and now she doesn't know who or what to trust.

Desperate to save her mother, she ultimately decides to make a blood bargain with Carnon to have him help her. Her plan is that once her mother is safely back with her, she will find them somewhere safe to hide, as far away from Carnon as she can get... but something inside her is saying he's the safest person to be with. She can't seem to shake it.

With the animal companions, Akela and Artemis, in tow, the two of them get into some crazy adventures, trying to defeat the Crone and save Elara’s mother. And despite her internal struggle to resist Carnon’s advances, Elara must also try to strengthen her new powers and pretend to be in love with the Demon King in front of his whole kingdom. No big deal, right?

This book, guys! 😍

It's so ridiculously good! I was constantly gasping and giggling at Elara and Carnon’s banter, completely shocked at some crazy twists, and just absolutely amazed by this story! It keeps getting better and better, and I cannot wait for the third book!

This one gets released on August 1st, and you HAVE to add it to your TBR! You can pre-order it on Amazon or on Madeleine's etsy shop for a signed copy!

A huge thank you to @madeleineeliotwrites for this BETA read! These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

Eliot has delivered another ravishing tale in this second installment of the King and Coven series; with enough mystery, steam, and sassy retort to keep you turning the page. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of TBADC, which my review will be based on.
It was a delight to reunite with Elara and Carnon once again as they battle through treacherous courts, deceptive truths, and one pissed off grandmother. One thing I greatly appreciate in Elara’s character is though she may be confused about we’re her emotions lie, she maintains a kind heart throughout the gut-wrenching trials each book presents her. You’ll find a lot of difficult decisions to be made throughout book two— the good news is, Pierre will always have comfort macarons at the ready. We get to see our favorite owl and wolf again (as one should never be parted from such delightful beasts for long) as well as meet some new friends, and enemies, that make each page even more devour-able than the last. This book is chalk-full of found family moments that brought a smile to my face every time at the show of loyalty, and Carnon could charm the scales of a snake on his worst day. It is exciting and nerve wracking to see Elara approach her new powers, and I am curious to see what more she learns as we follow her into book three. I cannot wait to see what the third book holds in store, and I am certain now more than ever that Eliot will write to impress, confuse, taunt, amaze and adore— just has she has with every book previously.

Thank you again for the ARC and the little bit of beta reading I got to do for this book!
And dang do you not disappoint!!!

Picks up right where the first one ended and starts with a bang!
Madeleine just had a way of making her books flow so cohesively like it’s all one big story perfectly meshed together you just have to wait for the sections to release lol

I also enjoy the amount of detail she puts into the story it’s just enough to keep in hooked but not enough that makes you beg for more! This has been on of my favorite fairy tale retelling dive read and the fact that it’s 3 books total I get 3 times to enjoyment of reading a story I like!

Absolutely love her characters and the growth they go through. Elara is learning to come into her own and she is strong and independent and bad a** let me tell you! I didn’t know I was into Demon Kings but I love Carnon and hi journey in this one. He’s got some stuff to fix!

And the spice! Wheeewwww! It’s definitely has the heat notched up even more than the first! Can we talk about that slow burn?!🔥🥵

I definitely didn’t want it to end and I fully expect book 3 to be epic!

This series just keeps getting better! I didn’t think it was possible to love Carnon more, but this demon king is just irresistible. I love how he doesn’t let Elara’s attitude or prickliness push him away even though she’s trying to do just that. I love how determined he is to help her with her magic, and to help her find her mother. He’s so patient and understanding too, knowing that he screwed up with Elara, he’s willing to put in the work to win her back. Elara, bless her heart…she’s so dang stubborn! I’m glad she didn’t automatically forgive Carnon, but good grief that woman can dig her heels in! I’m glad she’s finally embracing her light and dark magic, I just hate it that took certain events for her to come to that point. And her grandmother is one bad old lady. I can’t wait for her demise! This book answered a lot of questions from book 1, while also giving us new questions for book 3 to answer. It was a great continuation of this series, and gives us a good lead in to book 3 leaving us excited and waiting for more! Definitely recommend this series!

“Only if you catch me first”
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Madeleine is back with a bang ( literally) with the second instalment to the “ hunt a demon king” series .

With how things were left in book one I was ready for the angst of book 2 and boy did it deliver !
Fighting her feelings for carnon, Elara finds herself losing the battle as the cunning , delicious and open demon king ups his game!

Truths are spilt, chases are had and emotions run high as two must become one and face the nastiness of the crone!

Madeleine as you know I read it in 2 hours my hands were glued to my kindle and I fought sleep to finish it!
I love how Elara and is coming out of her sheltered persona and flourishing with in the court of beasts , even putting the king in his place a few times too
I love how carnon was patient with her never failing to support her never failing to show how much he cares and *spoiler* her

The continuation of the story was very organic and it didn’t feel forced at all . I want a library like the one they visited and I never want to see a spider again !!

Readers can expect :
Primal chase
Sort of enemies to lovers
Fated mates
Smut
Questioning your own sanity because you like carnon in his snake form
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
ALL HAIL THE KING & QUEEN !

Review:

Y’all, I love this series so much. This is the second book in the King and Coven series and it is just delightful. It picks up right where the first one left off and gets right into it. Carnon(MMC) has a lot of groveling to do to get back on Elara’s (MFC) good side after all the lies and stunts he pulled (and he does.. he does 🥵😉).

The banter and chemistry between these two characters is just as hot and fun as it was in the first book. There is more world building in this book which I also loved. Overall, this book is just a fun cozy romantic read with some action and spice. I can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you @madeleineeliotwrites for this amazing ARC! Oh.. and.. I love how some of the things we talked about in the ARC team group chat got put into this book!
😂👅💃🏼😉
