I have new book boyfriend. Everyone needs a Jamie to show up on their doorstep.
Be prepared for a long night. Once you start, you won't stop
My new roommate was supposed to be a girl…
Imagine my surprise when the dead sexy famous photographer Jamie Green shows up with his dog.
I'm tempted to tell him to get lost, but I need the cash to keep my house. But Jamie has problems of his own. He just found out his kid being neglected and he's going after custody. He presents a proposal that can fix both our problems—get married.
I say yes, but only because we sign a prenup that will leave me a million dollars richer at the end of a year and a promised divorce.
His lawyer told him that when social services starts sniffing around we have to act like we're really married.
That means he has to move into my room. The bed's a queen and he's six four....
Well...I tried this author and I'm not impressed. The beginning was a little off, I almost stopped reading. Very unsure this wouldn't have some sexual content that is beyond what I want to read. I was reassured this is kept pg. The writing was not impressing me either. The characters were pretty underdeveloped. The story was ok but needed more detail and development. Then it even out and I thought hey this won't be bad and we had some pg13 content. He wants to take pictures of her and they are fine just a bit steamy. Then the book goes haywire. The little bits of sweetness and romantic tension leaves! The characters get stupid and the book just gets dumb. Finishing it was painful.
This was a good book. I'd read another book by this author before I didn't realize it until the connection with the dogs was mentioned in a later chapter though. Each man became friends in college and they adopted dogs together, each dog named after where they were in line of making their first million dollars. I'd read the book that took place on a Michigan Island and this one. But at the end of this book there were more couples so I'm sure i'll have to go looking for the books I've missed. The books don't have to be read in order (if there is an order, ha ha). I was able to follow along just fine. The story has a MMC who is looking to make connections with a child that he believes is his but that he wasn't told about. The child is now 6 years old. The FMC lost both of her parents and now lives in their large house by herself while struggling to keep the house. This story was super cute but it does leave a question questions. The MMC has always been attracted to a different type of woman but he finds himself attracted to the FMC who is short and brunette. There are 3 tall blonds around him, a he flirts innocently with them, it doesn't show him doing the same with the FMC because he doesnt want to give her the wrong idea. The FMC is shy and timid so I don't see how she had the nerve to flirt with the MMC. The MMC started taking pictures of the FMC but there is no further mention about the photo collection he took. I felt like it left a few holes in the story. Please there was a lot of people in the story at the end that I ddn't know. But again, I'd only read on previous. Over all, it was a good read. I enjoyed it and will continue the series.
I really enjoyed this. It jumped slightly but I loved the sexual tension between the characters. I loved the fact it never went into the bedroom. Clean, heart warming story of justice.
I don't think Ms. Loth has any clue about marriage or custody disputes. My husband and I have one of the calmest marriages I know of. We seldom argue we have disagreements and stay pissed off for a couple of hours until I vent and we figure out who needs to apologize or how we can compromise. I'm not saying that to brag or anything I'm saying that because a calm steady flow is the thing out marriage excels at. We don't do drama. Most of my friends and even family members do the loud arguments and some of them hold grudges for days or weeks. It's not because they have bad marriages its just their marriage has a different tone than ours. There are parts of their marriage that I envy like the crazy lows come with the crazy highs and those sound like fun, but I don't envy them enough to change the stability of my relationship. Our relationship is as calm as it is because we talk, a lot. Even after more than a decade if we aren't together we spend hours on the phone because the day just feels wrong without talking to each other. I have a reason for explaining this. Jamie and Beth don't communicate well, won't open themselves up to risk and for a completely unexplained reason when they meet Beth can't even look him or any other man in the eye. They have legitimate reasons to be upset with each other, never talk anything out and just randomly get over it without fixing anything or compromising.
Judges only grant custody after middle of the night surprise evidence on tv, not in real life. And if a father hasn't met his 6 year old he doesn't instantly get to just take the kid for visitation and unless the father is on the approved pick up list with the school it doesn't matter what his paperwork says he can't just go get the kid from the school because the school could be charged with negligence. I had joint custody of my kids and their fathers couldn't pick them up from school unless the main office talked to me directly first because I had placement.
The research is based on television not reality, the marriage is like some teenage dream journal instead of resembling a believable relationship. The character development is low and all the obstacles placed in front of them basically just dissolve away with no real conflict. Also the neighbor bringing up meetings every week because she wants Beth's house could be easily charged with harrassment because that is what she's doing harassing her neighbor.
The story had potential but it's got less realism than a fantasy novel.
My review is for myself, not to critique the author's writing. This book was ok. For me, it seemed rushed. It touched on all these different issues and feelings but never reached any depth.
I am one of those readers who love a story that is far-fetched from time to time. 98% of this book is unbelievable, but Loth weaves a sweet love story that's fast-paced and makes you believe that true love doesn't always take a long time to develop.
WHAT I LIKED: Bethany isn't your typical female lead character; she's not described as knock down gorgeous. She's an averagely pretty girl whose beauty shines from within. She's painfully shy and is an extreme introvert. None of the characters overshadow her, nor does she overpower anyone else. She could be described as the center in which everyone gravitates towards.
The most important things in her life? Dancing and the house where she grew up with her parents, no matter how expensive the upkeep is.
Jamie is incredibly rich, and somewhat vain, but the most important part of his life is starting a relationship with the son he just found out he had.
I swear that Bethany's next door neighbor, Bunny, is modeled upon one of my favorite Youtube stars, Grav3yardgirl; if only by name, love for alligators, blonde hair, and loud personality. I think of everyone in this book, Bunny is probably my favorite character as she may be the typical big-breasted, gorgeous blondes that authors favor, but her personality, friendship with Bethany, and her fierce love for animals (even baby alligators!) really stood out to me.
Of course there's the "evil" characters that we're not supposed to like: Zoe, Jamie's ex-girlfriend who has hidden the fact that she delivered his son six years previous. She has bad taste in husbands - Ray, an abusive jackass that pretty much hates Garrett - and a predilection for booze and drugs. Even though she's a despicable parent, I think deep down she must love her son because she wouldn't give Jamie an inch. Knowing Jamie could have paid her off to give him their son, instead she chose to fight him in court. Jamie's lawyer isn't exactly someone that I would want representing me, but it is what it is.
WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: Jamie through money around like it grew on trees. I loved that he wanted to help Bethany out, but at times it was too much for me.
Garrett warmed up pretty quickly to Bethany and Jamie, even though he had never seen them before. It is rare for a child to take so quickly to finding out that the parent who hadn't been in their life now is and wants to have them as part of their life. To me it was just too easy. Everything fell neatly into place with very little problems. There were roadblocks, of course, but they were handled quickly and efficiently. Maybe that is actually a plus because there are times when authors drag things out for a very, very long time instead of wrapping them up quickly before the next roadblock springs up.
Like I said in the beginning, this book is pretty far-fetched, but definitely worth reading. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series and other books by Ms. Loth. Quite an enjoyable read, even if it was sometimes a little *too* HEA.
DISCLAIMER: I requested a review copy from the publisher in order to participate in a blog tour. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
PLEASE NOTE: Though this is a mostly clean read, there is some language and sexual tension. No open door love scenes. Suitable for ages 17 and up.
This review is from: Folly and Forever (Omega Mu Alpha Brothers Book 3) (Kindle Edition) I loved this story! (Hands clapping) I've had the opportunity to read several of books by this author, and she delivers them in a way that you will continue to read them and/or the series.
This is #3 in the series of Omega Mu Alpha Brothers. It can be read as a standalone, though I would recommend reading series in order to capture the essence of the series. It is a clean romance with some quirky humorous moments.
I thought the pacing of the story was Awesome. The scenes progressed in a realistic, yet compelling manner. It's flow was steady throughout the story. The main characters were made flawed in some way, that wasn't dramatic. I loved how both Bethany and Jamie had issues that needed to be confronted and they found each other while trying to help each other. This story also had some secondary characters that just added some sour quirkiness to the plot without being overwhelming. Story line was heartfelt.
I loved the book cover and description. They each have the ability to capture the readers' attention. I would definitely recommend this book to all readers who love an awesome clean romance.
Meet Bethany: a shy young woman who lost her parents. She still lives in her home, but is having trouble with taxes. She applies for a roommate, though this is against the HOA guidelines. She wants a female due to her awkwardness towards males. Just when she is about to lose her home, she gets a roommate. Not just any roommate, but a hot male photographer named Jamie. They will tip toe around each other for a while until they are comfortable with one another. Meet Jamie: just found out that he has a son, Garret who is 6 yrs old. He wants to step up to being a dad, but the mom wants to fight him at every turn. He is determined to find a place in his sons' life. They will try to fight the attraction to one another, while dealing with some caustic people, as well as, some with some quirky humorous moments.
My advice to readers: Get the book and read it for yourself, then you can be the judge.
A fun quick read, overall I enjoyed this book. The only thing I don’t like, and this seems to be a common pattern for this author, is that she sets up too many plot lines within the story and doesn’t go back and fully tie them up. For example, what happened to Bethany’s dance studio, they bought it and then never talked about to again. I did enjoy the fact that the author fully elaborated the main conflict and the characters development around it in this book. However, this is the second book by this author I’ve read and it seems she likes to put a big fight towards the end of the book to drive the characters apart and then quickly with little to no explanation or resolution jumps to a happy ending. There needs to be a resolution people don’t just go from possibly wanting to break it off to over the moon happy without at least having a conversation.
Mutual Benefits. I like how two people needing something important to themselves find a mutual benefit. Photographer Jamie Green has his mission to see and meet his recently discovered son Garrett and Dancer-Tourist Guide Bonnie Davis is trying to save her house. Their story is a growth where shy Bonnie becomes more secure in herself and Jamie learns that love can come at any time. I like their happy ending even if it seemed life kept tossing lemons. The only discrepancy was how Jamie learned about his son’s discovery - book 1 Blake sees Jamie at Lukas and Tess’s wedding and tells him in person but in book 2 Blake telephones Jamie. All in all it’s a good story that yes, segues into the next book. Critical to read in order. I purchased this copy from the author’s website and voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was such a sweet, emotional story. Bethany & Jamie’s story was filled with emotions, sharing space, new friendships, & so much more. Bethany will do whatever it takes to save her home, it’s all she has left of her parents, so when Jamie shows up and is willing to pay months of rent in advance, she makes it work. I absolutely love Jamie’s determination for getting to be a part of his son’s life. I am a sucker for a good dad in my romance reads. Bethany and Jamie had a bit of a slow burn in their marriage of convenience, but they both fell. I love the dogs in this series. I love how loyal and protective Jamie’s girl is.
Bethany lives in the house her parents left her but taxes are coming up and she doesn't know what to do. Bethany gets a phone call that someone is looking to be her roommate well it ends up being Jamie a man. Jamie just found out he has a 6 year old son and wants in his life so he plans to fight to get him while living with Bethany but they start having feelings for each other. Will Jamie get his son? Will Bethany get over her shyness around men? A great romance with HEA 5/5 stars *** I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book ***
This story was adorable. From the whole broken family aspect to the fake marriage angle. I loved the premise and the reasons that the main characters had to get involved with each other. Loved Jamie. He’s such a great guy. And Bethany’s character is adorable. I wasn’t a fan of the novel in the beginning, but after the 1/3 point, I loved it. I gave it a good chance because I really loved the first novel in the series. This novel did not have as much heat, which I was disappointed about, but the story was still good. I loved how it all turned out.
Jamie and Bethany are adorable. It's always a challenge for me to read about someone who is shy and introverted because I tend toward the exact opposite. I respect Bethany a lot, though. She may be shy and deal with social anxiety, but she's a spitfire when it matters. I love the Dobermans throughout this series! So far, we have Dio and Hexa. We've briefly met Una, too. I'm so happy we got got to see Lukas and Tess while Tess is hugely pregnant!!! I can't wait to see Garrett's reaction to having "cousins"!
I absolutely adore Kimberly's writing I've read everyone of her works. I highly recommend this book being a single mother this really hit my heart hard I cried I cried and a lot of her books but I can't say words that are good enough to describe this book. Kimberly pulls me in with every word I fell in love with Jamie just as Bethany had it pulls at my heart strings to see a father want his child in his life so much!
These books, in this series, are amazing romances. They are truly romances and not spicy at all, it is about the fall of true love. [What we all want true love to be] So far each of these have been my "favorite" of the series, I can't pick a favorite because they are all great! And none of them maKe me roll my eyes and think ... unrealistic, which is beyond fantastic. Highly recommend this series!
So five stars because really I enjoy these so much. They’re sweet and fluffy and clean. Which is super rare. When I read a Kimmy Loth Book I know exactly what to expect, I’ve rarely been disappointed. Kimmy Loth is quickly becoming a go to author for me in a reading slump. This is Jamie’s book and I enjoyed it. So far Jamie and Blake are my favorite . This took takes place at Beth’s beach house so this book gives a summer vibe.
Beth and Jamie. Jamie found out he has a son. 6 years too late. Beth is losing her house. When Jamie rents from Beth everyone gets shucked into everyone's dreams. Fake marriage turns real. A little bit who belongs with his dad, and a dance who gets her wishes granted by the hot billionaire. Sweet, vanilla, closed door story.
This book was better than the first but the writing style takes some getting used to. I did like the characters better and was able to connect with them more than Lukas and Tess. It seems with each book they get a little better… I already bought the series before understanding the author so I will try and finish them. The good thing is they are short stories so you can finish them in a couple of hours
There was so much going on in Jamie and Bethany’s individual lives that brought them together. Their relationship, the neighbors, and their ex’s just seemed to be there for the drama and continue the story.
This was not as good as the first book in the series, but I love the idea of it so I am going to keep going.
3.5⭐️ This was a very cute and easy read. I felt as if parts of it were really rushed and I caught myself wishing there’d been more story. It did bounce around a bit but that did really bother me as much as the speed of which the story ended. I feel the same about this one as the first… it needed to be longer for sure. Still a good quick read! I really enjoyed it!
This story had an interesting premise and some heartfelt moments, especially around love and family. There were some really nice scenes that pulled me in, but other parts felt rushed or a little predictable. While it’s an easy read, I wished for more depth and emotional connection to the characters. Still, it delivers a sweet escape for readers looking for something simple and enjoyable.
This series is fun and interesting. An arranged marriage for convenience turns to love and family. A son who needs his dad and a dad that wants his son that never knew.
As the first two books this one did not disappoint me in reading. In the first few chapters you get your information about the charters the end chapters you wanting more book. A book that is hard to put down.
This reads so much more like a sketch or draft of a story than an actual story. It had potential to do something interesting with its tropes but no storyline or character is fully fleshed out.
Won’t bother with the rest. Thank god it only cost me 78p for the honour of reading
Underdeveloped: The potential for a really good story was there, but the writing was surface-level and there was very little character development, making it all feel superficial and a little boring. There just wasn't enough there to feel invested.
Under-researched: I'm all for suspension of belief and artistic license, but there is a minimum of common sense/knowledge that should be met in this type of story. For example, schools don't let children go with someone not on the approved pick-up list, especially not at the younger grades. Hello, LIABILITY!
Overall, it felt like a rough draft that needed a lot more time and attention to build out the story and develop the characters.
I enjoyed the first book in this series but this one was just too out there. So many things were too unbelievable and unrealistic. Very choppy writing.
I will read the next one because I bought the whole series in ebooks. Hoping they are as good as the first one.
With each story, I love the new relationship 😍 I also like the flow, no steamy sex scenes. I've read many of those, but sometimes you just need a truly good-hearted romance, and these are it. I love them so far!
I loved the romance between Bethany and Jamie, and how they fell in love after faking a marriage to save her house and to save Garrett. Starting book 3 now, Kimmy is a fantastic writer and love her books a lot!
