When Tyler Johnson spends the evening at a bar celebrating her cousin’s pseudo bachelorette party, she boldly takes on Jordan’s bet. A note on a napkin, placed provocatively in their waiter’s back pocket, and two minutes later he’s calling Tyler’s cell phone…asking her for a date. Bet won! It was all in good fun. So when things start to heat up on their first date, she suddenly has cold feet. He works at a strip club and picks up babes on a regular basis. No thanks.
That is until college resumes in the fall and Mr. Hottie shares her English class and turns out to be everything she has ever wanted in a boyfriend…but can’t have now…because she judged the book by its cover. Unless she can convince Chase Bronson to begin again.
I was born and raised by deaf parents in the Metro-Detroit area along with four siblings. Growing up in a house full of children, there was never a dull moment! We all inherited the reading gene from our father, who is a voracious reader. And the reading gene continues strong in my own two sons. I'm happily married (second time is a charm) to a patient and loving man who always cheers me on from the side-line to pursue my dreams. What more can a girl want?
Steam, romance and angst. Sounds like any typical New Adult Romance, right? Perhaps, perhaps not. I can’t believe R.C. Matthews played with my emotions back and forwards in a matter of 100 or so pages. I ended up loving Tyler and Chase as much as I loved JT and Jordan (and those two I reaaaaally adored)! This was a really fast read so if I told more about the book I might reveal the plot. I’m just really that excited about the story. ;)
This is the last installment of Wish Come True series. If you haven’t checked out this series yet, I highly recommend that you do so RIGHT NOW. As a non-fan of New Adult, I really enjoyed this series! That’s saying a lot for me. R.C. Matthews is one of the very few authors that made New Adult work for me. :)
Tyler Johnson and Chase Bronson are cute, funny, and sexy in Begin Again!
I love the way Matthews flipped the characters. Chase was the one who worked in the strip club, a fresh change from the typical woman always having that job. I liked that it was his family who had issues and not Tyler’s. Too often do you read that the woman needs saving or needs someone to show her she isn’t alone. The role reversal was a breath of fresh air.
The voice through this book was spot on for the age of the characters. Their behavior was true and their conversations were fun and realistic. The storyline was a great match for Tyler and Chase. Anything and everything really does go wrong when you’re in college.
This is the perfect read for a weekend afternoon. The pace is quick and easy. It’s a short read that I enjoyed but feel could have been longer. Then again, college kids are very get-to-the-point, so in that aspect, the book was perfect. No matter the length, this story will leave you with a smile.
The Wish Come True Series is an adorable series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but once you read one, you will want to read them all.
A book you won't want to put down! And that's okay, because it's a short read. I finished it in three, page-turning hours.
Chase and Tyler meet at a male strip club during a bachelorette party. He's a shirtless waiter, and she's a member of the party. On a dare, she slips her number in his back pocket and he asks her out.
The attraction is instant and powerful, the budding romance passionate and playful in a sexy way - but realistic. There were no angst-driven declarations of love which would have been inconsistent with the pacing. But with these two you didn't need to hear "I love you" to know that they were easily heading that direction. Their actions were age-appropriate, and it was such a fun read to remember that easy, playful passion of youth. Don't get turned off by my liberal use of the word "playful" with these two, though. There is plenty of good, hot steam!
Not only is Begin Again my favorite in the Wish Come True series, it is my favorite R.C. Matthews book to-date. I highly recommend!!!
I love to support "hometown" authors...Ok, I'm not from Detroit, but it's only a couple of hours away.
Let me reiterate, for all of you that don't know..when I do my reviews I don't give you a running synopsis...I don't reword the blurb...Matter of fact, I may not tell you much of anything to do with the book...it's all what I took from it, what I thought about the characters, the writing, the storyline. So, now that we have that all figured out, let's get on with it, shall we?
Begin Again was a quick read about a couple of college age kids. Not my fave subject matter, but this was really entertaining. Tyler is funny and flirty and from Detroit. Chase is hot n sexy, cute and funny. I really like the characters. Even the supporting ones. Everyone needs a granny that'll shake her ass with strippers and watch football!
A story about not giving the benefit of the doubt, not asking when something bothers you...losing something potentially life changing because you act without thinking.
This was a fun, entertaining, quick read that gets a solid
I enjoyed this romance novel. There was some fun bits, some dramatic bits and some heart-warming bits. The opening made me think of Magic Mike, which was a very sexy movie! The supporting cast was amusing and contributed well to the story.
The love story between Chase and Taylor was a little instant but in romance that is almost to be expected. The misunderstanding between them was dramatic but it wouldn't be romance without a misunderstanding or two. As a twenty-year old, the characters seemed a little unrelatable. The situation with Chase's mother and sister was also slightly underdeveloped. There was a lot going on the book. I'm a relatively fast reader so I got through the book in about an hour but the story didn't feel rushed at all.
Overall though I did enjoy the story and I would recommend it.
Both Chase and Tyler are snarky characters and I loved both of them. Chase he's an easygoing guy, "a slight smile curved up the corner of his mouth. "Do you slip notes into many waiter's pockets and then slap them on the a**?" Tyler always has the best logic who cares what shape your mints are in as long as they're yummy, "a guttural chuckle ripped through me at the look of utter disgust on his face. "They're yummy. You even said so yourself. So what if they're in the shape of a pecker? It's candy." See perfect logic who can argue with that? I really enjoyed reading this book.
A book worth reading always require more than just a look at its cover. No one knows this better than Tyler. Wanting a second chance at something that could turn out to be ohh so good. Sometimes making that sacrifice is worth looking beyond the cover.
This series is super fantastic. I love this author R C Matthews writing. She has unique knack of delving deep in the characters and telling their story!
I received this eCopy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
4 Stars! Charming, Sexy, Funny and A Little Bit Angsty! A Perfect Afternoon Read!
The Review: Tyler Johnson is out on the town, celebrating with her family at her cousin’s bachelorette party when their hot and sexy waiter gives her a call from across the room after she slips him her number on a dare.
Chase Bronson may work at a strip club because the tips are better than anywhere else he could work, but he doesn’t indulge in the panty parade he could take advantage of if he let himself have one-nighters with all the girls that offered it up to him. His life is filled with drama from one woman already. He doesn’t need to add to it by bedding down the “Dirty Dicks” patrons.
However, when he waits on Tyler’s table, there’s something different about her and he just can’t resist saying yes.
Right from the start, these two have an undeniably sweet connection but between the miscommunication's and misunderstanding, these two have to learn to open up and trust one another if they are going to make a real go of it.
Begin Again is a light hearted, fun, sexy read with just a smidge of angsts that I devoured in one sitting. And even though it was short, it was well written and had my heart aching for a happy ending. I enjoyed Chase and Tyler’s quick fall into romance. They were a delight to read. The dialogue was fun and sweet, their interactions were filled with grinning and laughing moments and even when they were at the conflict part of the story and misunderstandings and miscommunication was the cause, the characters still held strong and had loads of chemistry. This story had me glued to the pages to see what would happen next.
There were quirky and entertaining recurring characters from the previous books in the series and even though this was my first read from this author and this series, I wasn’t lost on what was happening. It can definitely be read as a stand alone but I loved it and the writing so much, I’m hitting the one click button to get the rest of the series on my reader!
Absolutely recommended for a quick, light, romantic afternoon read.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review* I have to admit, this was a sweet romance. I love Granny. So much. She is funny and brightens this story up. Tyler and Chase were sweet. Though, it was hard to believe they were only college students. They certainly acted more mature. It was heart breaking to see their ups and downs. This is one of those romances that has you laughing, hoping for the best and feeling good at the end.
This is book 3 in the series but it stands alone fine. It was very fast paced and a lot of fun. It had me laughing out loud at moments.
Chase and Tyler were very cute and very sweet together. There was a certain misunderstanding and lack of communication that caused some drama between the 2 that made it frustrating.
I read this in one sitting and really enjoyed it. The characters were a lot of fun! I definitely plan on going back and reading the first 2.
Tyler and Chase meet when Tyler is out at a bachelorette party. Chase is the hot waiter, and Tyler just won a bet. Chase calls and Tyler agrees to a first date. During their date they hit it off, until Tyler is leaving and she see's Chase talking to someone. Tyler leaves Chase as a memory, and doesn't look back again. When school starts back Tyler runs into the one person she thought she would never see again. Can Tyler and Chase begin again or has too much happened for Chase to move on?
It is the third book in the Wish Come True series but stood alone just fine.
This was a quickie that almost felt more like a normal sized read. I was mesmerized from the beginning and I did not put my Kindle down until I was finished.
I thoroughly enjoyed each and every aspect. There was plenty of excitement, romance and steamy action. ;-)
I thought this was a great story, very sweet and sexy. If you enjoyed the first two in the series, you'll enjoy this one as well. I'd rate it 4.5 stars.
Another great story in this series. I laughed and loved with them. Only negative is that it ended abruptly and there was no epilogue as in the other stories.
