Sharon's newest book The Split is now available in both hardback and paperback in the UK!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Split-grippi...

Sharon J Bolton was born and brought up in Lancashire, the eldest of three daughters. As a child, she dreamed of becoming an actress and a dancer, studying ballet, tap and jazz from a young age and reading drama at Loughborough University.

She spent her early career in marketing and PR before returning to full-time education to study for a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Warwick University, where she met her husband, Andrew. They moved to London and Sharon held a number of PR posts in the City. She left the City to work freelance, to start a family and to write.

She and Andrew now live in a village in the Chiltern Hills, not far from Oxford, with their son and the latest addition to the family: Lupe, the lop-eared lurcher. Her daily life revolves around the school run, walking the dog and those ever-looming publishing deadlines.

This is a good selection of short stories featuring characters from SB’s novels including The Craftsman and Lacey Flint. The authors foreword at the start of each story is really good as she explains the inspiration/rationale behind each one. They’re all good but The Night Train is especially note worthy as I love the tone of the story and its source. This one is set in Sabden of Craftsman fame with Dwane the sexton taking the lead role. This area of Lancashire is rooted in history and provides a unique character in its own right. Another of particular note is the final one, the short but very clever The Snow Bride which is set in South Georgia where the excellent The Split is set.
Overall, a good collection which leaves me wondering why I left it languishing on my kindle so long??!!!

As an avid reader of this author I was aware that this was being released on 18th March 2021 and as soon as that date arrived I purchased this kindle book straight away (as soon as I was awake!)

This is Superb. Five Stars. An anthology of stories that intertwine with some of her other books, these stories are not only good but they leave you wanting to re-read her books that they relate to, especially one of her recent books The Craftsman which the first three stories in this relate to.

I just cannot recommend this author enough, if you haven't yet read any of her work you've not read much and I'm now looking forward to 27th May 2021 when her next novel The Pact is gonna be released.

A Big Thank you once again to the genius of Sharon Bolton.

An entertaining mix of short stories, some better than others, but I think I enjoyed it mostly because I had previously read Lacey's serie, the Craftsman and Dead Woman Walking. It would be difficult to have a complete image of some characters and settings whithout having previously read the main novels, I don't think those are intended to be read alone..but I have no way to know!
I just have to say... about Lacey's wedding...If there really would be no further books in the serie.. I was hoping for something more..a bit more..closure? I don't want to say too much to avoid spoilers, but I don't feel ready to leave Lacey's character that way...

One of my favourite authors, love everything she writes. This was a lovely bonus of stories about characters from various previous story lines. Nice to hear Sharon talking about her inspirations as well.

I love Sharon Bolton, I have read everything she has written, but unfortunately I am not a lover of short stories, therefore I did not like this book. I like a book I can get my teeth into and that I know will continue to satisfy me for a number of sittings but this was not the case with this book. I will however wait with baited breath for the arrival of her next full length novel and I am sure I will not be disappointed.

The only Sharon Bolton I didn't love to the end of my wits. It's an anthology of prequels, sequels, spin offs and off-shoots from some of her best novels and frankly not all of them land. I did like a couple but this book is entirely missable.

An enjoyable collection of short stories set in the worlds of Sharon Bolton’s novels. I think I will revisit these when I reread each novel for a richer experience. I especially enjoyed the story Night Train starring one of my favorite characters in The Craftsman & The Buried.

3.5 stars for a collection of short stories, based on Sharon's previous books. Some better at complimenting the originals better than others.

As usual her books are great. I am not a lover of short stories but as these included characters we had met in her books they were very good.

This book is a collection of mystery short stories, eight in all. Three are taken from the world of the Craftsman, including a closer look at some of the victims. Two are based on the Lacey Flint series, with “Lacey’s Wedding” a tale of Lacey going undercover being my favorite. Some, like “The Snow Bride” from the world of The Split, are very short, while others form more detailed stories. This author rarely disappoints and this is no exception. The stories always center on interesting characters and most contain a creepy sense of suspense. I enjoyed it.
