Who doesn’t love the Navy SEALS or Army Rangers and romance? None of these guys enter our world unscathed when through the rigors of war or the mistakes of early life.
Cody is the latter. The discipline he learned in the SEALS not only led to a satisfying military career but enabled him to use his considerable skills in the private sector.
In this story he encounters Cate who is trying to escape a drug lord husband. She’s on everyone’s radar including the US Government. Cody intervenes at a crucial time and from that point has to either trust his instincts or do as the higher ups tell him. Annabelle is a curvy girl. I am one myself. That’s why I wonder if the use of “thick thighs” is to stoke the flames or douse them with water.
He is attracted to Cate from the get-go. Because of that discipline we have to wait for him to crack and give in to the passion. It made for a slow start for me. The suspense and action are really good and the $10,000 question for everyone is “who can I trust?”

Cate had been trapped paying off her fathers debt, when she has the chance to escape she takes it but not without being followed, Cody is sent to retrieve Cate, but does he know the reason why she ran? this is a hot steamy read with all the feels, engaging read and well eveloped characters.

Intense, passionate, destiny-driven romance; Drinkwater SEALs go into the fray again
Destiny and fate play almost as true a character as Benson does in this series. So far it has paired up Ax with Amy and Bruiser with Brenna. On to “C” in another alphabet thriller-romance, Cody meets Cate. Fireworks commence and not always in a good way. Hmmm...
Oh. My. Word. These stories just get better and better. Cate was “sold” to Boro, a minor drug kingpin, to get her father out of debt. When her opportunity to escape 10-years later comes, she takes it but not without many complications. Cody is sent at first to bring her back but along the way his orders are changed. What has fate planned for our hapless couple? So many angles going on and I loved it! People you should trust, prove unworthy. Several stunning revelations. Some potential upsetting scenes but mostly off-page from a shared account. I love Benson and his woo-woo philosophy: fate and destiny and quantum mechanics. “Benson had to hold himself back from trying one more time to convince his hardened old friend that it wasn’t magic and make-believe but science and quantum mechanics. Human choice and action could change the fabric of space and time.” Whoa...just Whoa. Right?!
OOPS! Let me add that Cate is the proverbial BBW with lots of curves.
If you like steamy (only a few actual scenes), passionate military romance with the good guy winning all, read this book and series. All Ms. Winters’ male leads are ALPHA in mind and body...all-the-way. Love them! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout.

Is it destiny, fate or just pure luck? I would love to know how John Benson is able to figure this out! This is the story of Cody and Cate. Cody just happens to be in the right place and the right time to get the next assignment for Darkwater. Cody is dead set against every settling down as he has some demons in his past. Cate is a mafia princess who was sold to Bora to pay of her father’s debt and is allowed access to bring cocaine into their country. The assignment is simple, bring Cate back to Columbia for a 10-million-dollar bounty. However, right before Cody is set to grab her up, the assignment is aborted thanks to Agent Malone. Malone works for the DEA and is looking for a promotion. Cody goes against John Benson and decides to help Cate anyway and take her back to her husband (who she is trying to get away from).
Secrets, lies, deception, passion, suspense, danger, fear and love will have you staying up until you finish this story just to see what happens. I love the characters and I love how the women are string in their own ways. Cate has been used her whole life and finally decides to stand up for herself, because after all, who can you trust? John Benson is at it again with destiny and fate playing part in another one of his men, Cade gets rolled up and spit out on his adventures! I loved stories 1 and 2 and this one is full of spice and fireworks. Cate was given to the Mexican cartel kingpin, Boro to clear her father’s debt and her husband is not a nice man and neither is his 2nd in command. After 10 years while in the US on a shopping trip Cate decides she’s had enough and takes steps to get away with trouble at every step. Benson finds out and sends Cade to watch her and Cade ends up stepping in against orders to keep her safe even though she’s a stranger who he has a immediate need to protect. This is where fate that Benson so believe ps shows up and changes their decisions on how to move forward. Cade and Cate have their ups and downs in such a short time but what Cade does for the woman that is his is something Cate admires and can only hope what her husband has promised would happen, does not! This a very intense and rather dark book with unexpected twists and turns to keep things interesting. Cate is one very determined woman. Basically a captive for ten years, she finally takes her chance and escapes, but Darkwater Seal Cody is soon hot on her trail. Some unknown and unexpected instinct drives Cody to disregard orders in an effort to protect Cate, but she definitely won’t make anything easy for him. Both of them are keenly aware of their raw chemistry and fierce desire for each other as they try to keep one step ahead of her pursuers and stay alive. Their interactions become almost a game of strategy and recon until that chemistry goes supernova and they become connected in more ways than one. Far too many people are looking for Cate whether it be to kill her, to use her as a bargaining chip or for information. How their story develops is for you to discover as you read this riveting book.

This is the 3rd book in the Team Darkwater series featuring Cody and Cate's intense action-packed thrilling story. Cate was given to Boro a brutal Mexican Cartel kingpin in order to pay-off her father's debt. After 10yrs of brutality at the hands of her husband and his 2nd in command Cate that she's done. While away in the US on a shopping trip she makes her move to escape and finds trouble at every turn. Cody is sent to seize Cate since there's now a price on her head courtesy of her husband but Cody is unaware of why he's intercepting her. When other players take an interest in Cate he follows his instincts and puts Cate into protective custody. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this thrilling action-packed, steamy story full of action, suspense and intriguing twists to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book. Riveting
Out of the Darkwater books so far, I think this one surprised me most. There wasn’t the same team interaction there had been in the other one — it was 90% H/h, with little bits mixed in from others.
But like the other Darkwater books, it holds the same suspense, intrigue, action, and passion you come to expect from the author.
Annabelle did an amazing job of weaving the lives of two people with troubled pasts into a perfect happily ever after. Cody, the recon SEAL of the team, is faced with his hardest mission yet … because even the boss doesn’t really know what the mission is. With turns and twists as Cody and Cate get to know and trust each other, the author weaves a tale of intrigue and betrayal, loyalty and lies, to create another story that will keep you coming back for more.

Cate was sold by her father to a drug kingpin, to erase his debt, and ten years later Cate finally has a chance to escape. Cody is part of Darkwater and is assigned to retrieve her and take her back to her husband, but he is gradually feeling another solution would be better. The characters are terrific, with determination and intense everything. The storyline has drama, danger, surprises, twists, miscommunications, deceit, steam, protectiveness and so much more. The locales and dialogue add so much to the emotions that grab you and do not let go. Loved the chemistry, entertaining situations and determinations to reach a better future. Well done.. A great story, the tension and the action was good, especially because you didn't know which way it was going and which hurdles still had to be taken.
There's a lot going on, action, danger, spies, drugs and drug lords and the seal Cody who rescues Cate from a situation and the life she finds herself in.
I loved the chemistry and attraction between them and also the build of the story. The characters are great and so is the character they have.
Not to mention the romance and passion between them that was clearly felt.

Cate escapes from a sort of prison her father got her into with his debts. She is just trying to find a safe place to be. Cody gets his next job and its to locate and bring Cate back. However, its not as easy as that because the DEA wants her to help bring down the man she is running from. Will Cate ever be free to do what she wants? Will something more come from his job than he thought?
This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Courageous leading lady meets super determined alpha. This book had a great plot and characters with a combustible undercurrent of attraction. Fun read- love the theme of destiny and fate carried throughout this series. Could have easily been a five star read with a little bit more of the softer side of romance- however, that’s just my preference as the circumstances of the storyline didn’t leave much time for pleasantries.

Amazing story. Codey, an ex-Seal out to protect Cate, a drug lord's runaway wife. As Cody is in the middle of his mission he's told to abort. But Cody sees gang members after Cate so he saves her anyway. He loves everything about Cate and she love his alpha ways. There is action, suspense, adventure, danger, passion and steam. I really liked the story of this woman forcibly married to a cartel leader who tells her story since her escape.
It's intense, action-packed as she trusts no one and yet slowly builds a bond with Cody, one of those who is supposed to bring her back to her tormentor. The story is sometimes violent, torrid, unpredictable

This is the third book in the Team Darkwater series, it tells how Cody is tasked with tracking down and bringing in Cate Bonasera. When he asks why he's told that's classified, strictly need to know - at first he doesn't need to know but then his orders are changed......
I can't really say too much more without giving the plot away, what I will say is it's an interesting, intriguing and compulsive plot - one I didn't want to stop reading until I'd reached the end.

I really liked the story and the writing. My only down for this book was Cate. I didn't really connect with her. It became better during the second half of the book, but not by much. The suspence of the story was what I liked the most.

Capturing Cate is the third book in the Team Darkwater series. This story mixes drama, mystery, intrigue, romance, action, danger, and some scorching hot passionate chemistry. There are several elements to this story that ends up drawing you in the further you read, until you are up late into the next morning. A very delectable and satisfying reading experience.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Cate and Cody and does not let go. The story keeps us turning the pages with fear, danger, action and steam.

The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created. The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind.

Too instalove (or instalust). Too caveman mode (not the hot kind of alpha). It is supposed to be read just ok as a standalone but it is difficult to follow without having read the previous books... Another one to the pile of the "ok but totally forgetable"
