I assume I was supposed to feel sorry for what he went through when he was younger but I just couldn't as his character was just not likeable. He was a hypocrite who didn't like the fact that heroine had slept with other guys during separation (which was good for her) but it was ok for him to sleep with his brother's ex two months after his split from heroine even though at the time he thought the ex was pregnant with his brother's child! His parents were nasty and yes at 16 he was still a child but I can't get over his actions as an adult. He admitted to sleeping with literally hundreds of women during their separation but they were all "empty flings" but it took him 16 days before meeting heroine again to realise that? I found his character too arrogant and found little growth in his character because he constantly had to be talked down from his unjustified anger and resentment by Keeley and Maxon. The only thing that I liked about him was his determination to be a good dad to his son. As for heroine having admitting to having guilt ridden sex with om over the years I just don't get that. Why do authors always feel the need for the female leads to have had crappy sex with om during separation? This guy's flings may have been "empty" but he sure did enjoy sex in their separation to have gone through hundreds of women in three years no matter how much he "missed" Britta! Very disappointed in this book.

I am not expecting More Than Need You to be so good. Miss Black is erotica romance writer. Most of her books are hard core erotic. Imagine my surprise she is so talented in contemporary second change romance.

More Than Need You is told from Griff's POV. Just like promised Griff is ruthless closing a deal. And he made no exception in winning Britta's heart. At the end I see the vulnerae side of Griff.
Britta is not OTT dramatic heroine. Her doubt and her reactiob toward Griff is something all of us can relate when given into her situation.

I like how Miss Black does not overload her readers with unneccesary drama. The characters developed nicely.

Well done.

I've read all the other books in the series and really enjoyed them. This one, not so much. I just couldn't get past what Griffin did to Britta 3 years prior. It's not as bad as what you are lead to believe in book 1 but it's still bad.

There is a lot of bitterness and hurt on Britta's side of things. I feel it is very justified, however I did think she took it too far when she try to demand Griffin into giving up his rights as a father. She does eventually agree that their son needs him, but I didn't like that she was willing to to that in the beginning.

It just wasn't a fun story and I didn't enjoy the lead up to them coming back as a couple. This will be a good one for readers who really love that angst and struggle.

Synopsis:
I’m Griffin Reed—cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Trust is a four-letter word and everyone is disposable…except Britta Stone. Three years ago, she was my everything before I stupidly threw her away. I thought I’d paid for my sin in misery—until I learned we have a son. Finding out she’s engaged to a bore who’s rushing her to the altar pisses me off even more. I intend to win her back and raise our boy. I’ll have to get ruthless, of course. Luckily, that’s one of my most singular talents.

Sixty days. That’s what I’m asking the gritty, independent single mother to give me—twenty-four/seven. Under my roof. And if I have my way, in my bed. Britta says she wants nothing to do with me. But her body language and passionate kisses make her a liar. Now all I have to do is coax her into surrendering to the old magic between us. Once I have her right where I want her, I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I more than need her.

My Thoughts:
This is the second book in the More Than Words series and it was just as emotional as the first book. This book is a second chance romance and I was captivated by every word. I couldn’t wait to read this after reading More Than Want You.

This book just broke my heart. All the lost time. Misunderstandings. Interference by jealous women. Don’t even get me started on the Reed family. I got a distaste for what the parents had done to Maxon, but they were equal opportunity asses to Griffin. What those parents did to their children, ugh!

Griffin and Britta had a lot of baggage and they had a lot to work through. The one thing they had going was they both still loved each other, but could they move forward and be able to share their lives with each other and their son? Griff was so amazing with him and the instant love he felt for him. Oh the feels. I got a little choked up a few times.

I really loved this story and how it interconnected with Maxon’s story and the surprise that came out of it. The story is so well written and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait for more!

When I finished book one in Shayla Black’s new More Than Words series, I immediately wanted Griff’s story because I had serious doubts that Mrs. Black could find a way to get Griff and Britta past the hurt, resentment and miscommunications.

Griff should be someone I don’t like - he’s arrogant, cutthroat and a manwhore, as you read his story you realize why he is the way he is. The reasons why do not in any way justify his actions but they do help you understand what motivates him. Griff has been hurt by people he loves the most, it’s caused him to sever ties in cruel ways, not to trust anyone and feel like he doesn’t deserve genuine happiness. When Griff finds out he has a three year old son with the woman he loved but thinks betrayed him he is determined to win her back and be a part of their lives. He runs into a few issues when he goes to claim his woman and son…like she is engaged and the fact she can’t stand him. When Griff left Britta he broke her in all ways imaginable, when she found out she was pregnant and tried to tell him the tiny pieces of her that were left were blown to smithereens. She finally has learned to live with what happened and has been working hard to be a good single mother and have a relationship. Griff’s return and determination to pursue her rocks her to her very core. Britta has a monumental dislike and distrust of Griff, she is definitely not a heroine who forgives or gives into the hero easily. Although understandable her behavior started to frustrate me at times because she was so unbending and unwilling to see he has changed that I wanted to shake her. She almost became a heroine I did not like; I think if I would have had her POV I would have been a bit more sympathetic to her and her emotions.

The emotions and situations in More Than Need You read like something you actually hear in real life. Life is not always pretty, sane or easy and neither is the relationship between Griff and Britta. I do give major props to Mrs. Black for not having the hero or heroine abstain from sex during the time they were apart, I just don’t find it realistic when someone goes years without having sex because they are pining away for someone they may not ever see again.

More Than Need You took me on an extremely emotional, realistic, passionate journey towards an HEA for two people, who each went through emotionally scaring events yet finally were able to come together in a beautiful HEA, one that will remain one of my all time favorites! Now if Mrs. Black will hurry along with Harlow’s book!

Note: I do suggest you read book 1, More Than Want You prior to reading More Than Need You. You do not have to but I feel you will understand the dynamics between Griff and Britta a little more.

A manipulative d-bag hero that uses the word “bestie” when referring to his best friend. There’s a lot of things frustrating about this book, but the inconsistent characterizations were the worst.

Plus, the entire plot was based on a lack of communication, a pet peeve of mine. The hero refused to listen to the heroine for two minutes and then refused her phone calls for months and then has the nerve to bitch that he missed the first two years of his child’s life and now wants to play daddy when it was his own stubbornness that caused it. And of course he gets his way using underhanded and manipulative tactics. Oh, and he slept with all vaginas possible while separated from heroine and then has a pity party when he realizes that she moved on before he did.

Not my kinda hero.

At least the heroine was reasonably strong.

Title: More Than Need You

4 unexpected stars

If you've read More Than Want You, then you remember Griffin. I know i remember and couldn't get over what he did to Britta and how he acted. Trust me, i was ready to be judge, jury and executioner when it came to that man because from one day to the next, he simply left, walking away from what i could only think as the best thing that's ever to happen to him, even his family. To say that he wasn't painted in the best of lights in the first instalment would be an understatement but i still wanted to know why he did what he did and how he could do it.

4 breath taking dreams

In true Shayla Black fashion, Griffin had to work hard to get back into Britta's good graces and to have her trust him (and with good reason too!) but in a sadistic sort of way, it's nothing that he didn't deserve. In the end, i loved watching these two try to mend their broken relationship, to get their facts straight and even find out if there's still something between them. This series is probably one of my favorites from Shayla Black mostly because i get to fall in love with each character (and revisit them later) as we get their story!

SO SWEET!
I did not know how this hero was going to redeem himself after the utter heartbreak he caused.
But he persevered, and I applause him for that.
Felt a bit too draggy in the middle, but i loved how both the hero and the heroine learnt to trust again.

God, I just love a second-chance romance that keeps me guessing the outcome until the very end. This is what you’ll find with More Than Need You, and I did love every moment I spent with Griff and Britta.

Every last attempt to reconnect. Every last attempt to show how much love and chemistry remained between them. Every last attempt to show Britta what an amazing father he would be. Every last attempt that Britta made to keep Griff at arms length.

Swoon. Yep, legitimately swooning over Griff’s attempts to work back into Britta’s heart, mind and body. To show her he’s not the same man he was three years ago—that he’s grown up and is bound and determined to win her back. I loved the slow burn. Loved that Britta didn’t immediately cave in and give Griff what he was wanting. She held fast—and Griff really had some tough work ahead of him. And, quite honestly, I wasn’t sure that Britta and Griff were going to have their happily ever after--it was up in the air right through to the end. And, oh, what an ending! ~ Missy, 5 stars

I have been a huge fan of Shayla Black and was super excited to read the second book in the More Than Words series. I loved Griffin and Britta and thought their second chance romance was fantastic. I loved their chemistry, banter and combustible attraction and was looking forward to their reconciliation.

If you read the previous book in the series you know that Britta and Griffin have a painful past. After abandoning her three years earlier over a false assumption, he now finds out that he left her while she was pregnant with their child. So now he is on a mission to win back the girl he lost and father the child he never knew about. But will Britta give him a second chance to prove to her he is not the man he used to be? Be prepared for fireworks, folks!

I thought this novel was outstanding. I completely fell for Britta and Griffin and I loved their deep connection. I can not wait for the third book!! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

This was a mixed bag for me.
I liked that it was written from the so called Hero's POV.
I hadn't read book 1, the Hero in this book has some despicable behaviour in book 1, which is recapped about 1/3 of the way into the book and explained so it's not meant to be as bad as it appeared to be when it happened.
If you've not read book 1, like me you might be a bit confused when he refers to his actions towards the heroine in that book and those events lead to the reasons for the secret son and her being cut out of his life.
The Hero has a tragic childhood with parents who set a disgusting example and led to his lack of moral compass but this has been done so many times and feels at times that authors use it as an excuse to abuse a good woman.
The heroine is engaged when she reconnect with the Hero and they are intimate, though not sex, so to me she cheats.
She seems to draw a firm line on being determined not to cheat but I would my want my fiancee doing things with his/her ex just after I got engaged.
During the separation which has happened before this book, both are with other people. The Hero is a manwhore during this time.
They do have some honest conversations but for me the Hero's ego was too much.
It didn't make me feel like reading any more of the series.

I was predisposed to not like Griffin from the first book. At the start of this one he was a bit too over the top to recitfy things now that he knew he had a son. The kid was 3 years old, a bit too late if you ask me, especially as Britta did everything she could to tell Griffin he was pregnant when she first found out.

I hated how Griffin manipulated Britta in a way to get her back and to get to know is son. It was only as Griffin started to tell Britta about his past that I started to like him and actually root for Britta to take him back. Just when Britta was all ready to go all in, Griffin once again jumped to conclusions and jumped down Britta's throat. I was glad that Britta stayed calm and explained to Griffin how he lost her once again.

I really thought things were done then. Griffin even gave Britta what she wanted, sole custody to her son, but then Griffin revealed a couple last secrets, secrets that were so bad that you couldn't help to feel bad for him. The last part won her over, along with giving Britta just what she wanted. By this time I was glad to see this couple get their HEA.

Let me start my saying I read a lot, an average of 500 books a years. There are good books, great books and extraordinary books. The same goes with authors. Shayla Black falls easily into the extraordinary category. She is simply a cut above most of the rest of her literary peers. This new series follows in the tradition of Wicked Lovers.

Picking up from where More Than Want You leaves off, Griff is reeling after learning of the existence of his 3 year old son with Britta. The realization that he really screwed up when leaving Britta over three years ago has been cutting him deeply for a long time. How can he possibly ask her forgiveness and show her how much he loves her and needs her forgiveness? Arriving just in time to see Britta in the middle of a party celebrating her engagement to another man, Griff sets out to prove to her that marrying anyone other than him would be a mistake. Plus he wants to have a place in his son's life. To that end Griff sets out to woo Britta back into his arms and prove to her he's worthy of her love and trust. It's not an easy feat but in true Griff style he sets out to accomplish his goals and he's not above playing dirty to achieve them.

Griff's vulnerability and realization of how much he lost was touching and poignant. He swings from despair to elation all the while trying to prove he has what Britta wants and needs in a husband and father to her child. Britta's reticence is completely understandable. He broke her heart and left her to cope with her pregnancy and birth of their son alone. Griff bombards all her senses and threatens to tear down the walls she's so painfully erected to protect herself.

I loved both these characters. Griff's interaction with his son were heartwarming. The strengthening of his bond with his brother after three years estrangement was truly emotional. Shayla Black paints such vivid pictures with her words that you, as the reader, are caught up in the emotions, plot twists, and events along with the characters as the story unfolds.

Fortunately there is an HEA here and the promise of another series book. I eagerly look forward to its release.

3.1 stars.

I don't know what bugged me so much but this book, like the first in the series, just wasn't awesome. I wanted it to be bc I was so curious how this all would play out ...

- He leaves her over a misunderstanding- literally while she stands wet from the shower.
- He never lets her even fight about it, he LEAVES!
- She finds out she is Preggo (we find that out book 1)
- He never returns her calls or texts
- Fast forward 3 years
- His family KNOWS he has a child, thought he didn't want the baby so NEVER TALKED ABOUT IT?!?

Thus begins this story ....
How can she ever forgive him. It has been almost 3 years!

My other huge pet peeve, and maybe it is bc I work with infants and toddlers, is when authors wrote children WAY younger than the age they say or WAY older. Jamie is "almost" 3. Technically if Griff was away for 3 years, take away 9 mos of pregnancy- that makes Jamie 27 mos, aka a little OVER 2. He is a toddler! It was like the author never met a toddler before ... He was written older yet a baby. It was odd.

I wanted to LOVE Britta but she was hard to connect to. She was sweet and closed off - which she should be, but then times she was open and lovely. I guess I wanted her and Griff to have a HUGE EPIC FIGHT over this situation- and they didn't. They spend the whole book trying to trust each other.

The book ends with a great HEA but extremely abrupt. I was so confused .... that's IT!?

So, I guess I do know what bugged me. Ha.

We met Griffin Reed in the first book since he is Maxon’s brother and Keeley’s best friend. Griff is a cutthroat entrepreneur and competitive bastard. Three years ago, Britta Stone was his everything but he stupidly threw her away. He thought he’d paid for his sin in misery but then he learned he has a son. Now he plans to win her back.

Britta is engaged to another man. After all this time she is finally going to let herself move on from Griff Reed. The only problem is Griff found out they have a son together and he wants to be a big part of his life. She really doesn’t want anything to do with him but he has a proposition. If she full fills it and still maintains that she does not have feelings for him he will sign over his rights. 60 days she has to live with the man and resist him but her body has other plans.

It seems like people either loved this book or hated it. I liked and enjoyed learning more about Griffin and Britta. There was even a part that broke my heart and maybe because I am an emotional girl it made me cry or maybe just because it was a good story.

More Than Need You , the second novel in the More Than Words series by Shayla Black is Griffin Reed and Britta’s story. Like book one I purchased the audiobook immediately after I finished reading the e-book and began listening to the words in Christian Fox’s voice.

I read a lot of books about characters with dark or damaged paths. As a matter of fact, I’m drawn to them. It doesn’t matter to me if it is the hero, the heroine, or both. There is something about the characters as they learn to trust and deal with their past. Griffin Reed is the dark character in this book.

If you read the first book, you know a little about the way Griff treated his former girlfriend, Britta. Knowing what he did, I wasn’t sure if he was salvageable for me. I wasn’t sure Shayla could convince me that Griff is worth forgiving. More than Need You picks up parallel with the ending of More Than Want You . With the parallel scenes, the reader experiences some of the final events from Griff’s perspective.

More Than Need You is well written from Griff’s point of view. Maxon and Keeley are also present. Keeley was a friend of Griff’s for a couple years and still works to help him, and Britta repairs their past. I love that her communication is still through music. For me, Griff redeems himself quite nicely. More is revealed about the Reed’s parents and the life Griff had as a teen. It is sad that a person who appears to have all the opportunities afforded an upper-class family, but in reality, he is used by both parents. His father uses him against his brother, and his mother uses him to get an in with some influential women.

Britta is a lovely character. Her priority is her son. Rightfully so, she doesn’t trust Griff not to hurt her again, and she fears he will leave his son if he has contact. It is confusing that Brita held onto the hope that he would come back and makes the decision to move on just as he does. He wants to explain, but she doesn’t really listen. Honestly, who can blame her?

One of my favorite aspects of Shayla’s characters is how believable they are. I can see where a person conditioned to wait for every person in their life to serve up betrayal that s/he turns away. This is Griff I believe that the other person in the relationship will have a hard time giving that person the benefit of the doubt. I’m team Harlow on this point and agree that Britta set Griff up and Griff failed.

Shayla Black takes us on a realistic journey of love, loss and a second chance to get it right. She guides these characters on a frustrating journey of pain and heartbreak, but the characters don’t give up. There are many moments of joy especially when both characters are in parent mode. I love experiencing all the “feels” with these characters. While this is the second book in the series, it easily stands on its own. Everything you need to know is presented here. The conclusion of More Than Need You gives the reader a solid ending while whetting the appetite for the next book where Harlow will reveal her story. Can’t wait!

Audio Book Review 5* narrator

This is the second book I’ve listened to with Christian Fox as narrator. He does an excellent job. At first, I thought he might throw me off as I recently heard him telling Maxon’s story. It didn’t. I dropped right into Griff’s trials as interpreted by Christian. I highly recommend More Than Need You as an audiobook for all audio fans. Brilliantly done!

I've had this book finished for two days and literally had to sit and think about whether I could write a review worthy of it. I'm still sitting here trying to think of ways to describe how profoundly this beautiful, deep, complex, real, honest, and magical love story filled my heart and my spirit.
What struck me the hardest was what a very real and raw note Ms. Black struck with these characters. The root of the conflict, in which both people have been hurt and are terrified to move beyond their hurt, digs deep to things every one of us goes through in life--as well as the point that we reach when deciding whether to jump off the cliff and risk the core of our heart again for the reward of everlasting love. Ms. Black builds this twist of a premise up with two unforgettable characters, especially in the hero, Griffin Reed, who's dealt with deep-seated demons by becoming an A-Class douche as a grown man--though even the height of his most awful behavior, is so agonizingly self-aware that you just want to hold him and help him wake up! The knife twists deeper, because he realizes he WANTS to wake up, and just doesn't know how. He's a drowning man without a swimming instructor, and my heart just twisted in all the most incredible ways for him. He is COMPLETELY my kind of a book boyfriend: an alpha deeply in need of his true love's kiss to get him out of his mire.
That magical bond is provided in the form of Britta Stone, a single mom torn between following her heart's deep desire or giving her son a stable and happy life. ANY mom, single or not, is going to relate to this conflict--and respect Britta for all the strength she comes to know about herself in the midst of it.
As awesome as the set-up is, I have to say that the last act of the book is absolutely my favorite part of the story. The way these two finally resolve their fears and come to find each other, as well as the bow it gets tied up in, had me savoring every damn word of the book until it was finished.
SO WELL DONE. I'm so smitten with this series!

Oh boy this was even worse than the first book. Again, we have a very one-sided story with all the conflict in the book centered around the hero's issues even though the heroine's behavior was really bad at times. Yes, she was the injured party but that didn't give her the right to constantly demand the hero to just give up on the kid, even though he clearly loved his child.

The secret baby plot was really well executed, in that Britta (the heroine) didn't keep the baby a secret but at the same time Griff (the hero) didn't know about him. Yes, some things were a bit of a stretch - with social media and his family, you would think Griff would have found out - but it was possible for things to develop as they did.

The whole book was Griff asking for forgiveness while Britta saying no. The lack of progress was so tiresome! From the beginning, Griff wants to atone for his mistakes, to be the father to Jamie (the child) and pick the relationship back up. I understand Britta not wanting to give him the time of day - I mean, really - but not letting be around Jamie was mean, specially once she realized Griff was wonderful with his son (in fact, this was the best part of the book.) Jamie was a rambunctious boy, full of energy and verve and Griff (having been the same) just got him. Instead of working on visitation rights, Britta keeps insisting that Griff signs away his rights as a parent!! She did this supposedly thinking of Jamie, but you can tell she's mostly afraid for herself.

And then the whole "marrying somebody else" was a farce. Griff does whatever he want with Britta and the other chump just takes it. I can understand Britta wanting to give up on love after what Griff did but with all the tumult around Griff's return wasn't the time to accelerate a wedding! This woman had no common sense.

Anyhow, not sure if I'll read the third book in the series because I'm afraid it will be more of the same.

I can not believe there are women who accept this garbage, much less women who produce it. These pathetic tactics of provoking emotions in readers only make them lose the public. I am one of those who will never read anything from this author. It's very shameful. I don't have time for this sh*t.

This is Griffin Reed’s book More Than Need You. And what a book it is…Shayla Black has a way of writing that literally keeps me hooked on her characters, even characters that at first I totally disliked (Griffin). He is so redeemed and in this book I wanted to hug him and make everything ok for him. I understood why in this book why he was the way he was. This book is a standalone so you don’t necessarily have to read book 1 More Than Want You to follow along with this story but if I were you, you will want to read book 1.
This book is told from Griffin's POV and we see him finding out he has a son and learning that everything he thought about Britta betraying him was totally wrong some years before and that means he messed up so completely with the woman that he loved in a very bad way. Now we see him trying to right the grievous wrong that he did to the woman he has always truly loved.
The emotions that are shown in the book, the come alive in this book are deep and will make your soul hurt yet also sing. Britta and Griff share this deep love and the emotions between them never truly died yet the wounds between them had to be healed and it took some time for that to happen, and Griff did it in his own way and what a way it was. Oh I loved each and every barb, every heartache and anger and as well those sweet moments of love and passion for when they finally come together, Ms. Black brings them together beautifully and with such love and joy. I cried and hurt with both of them yet when they came together I rejoiced and loved with them. This was an awesome second book and I cannot wait for their little sister’s Harlow's book.

My Rating: 4.9 stars *****

I've been DYING to read Griff's book ever since I finished book one in Shayla Black's More Than Words Series, MORE THAN WANT YOU. But let me back up and let you know that it's my personal opinion that you read this series in order. Yes, MORE THAN NEED YOU features a different couple, but a heavy dose of back story between these two characters show up in the first book. I think it's better to understand Britta and Griff's story if you have that element in the back of your mind. And both books are AMAZING anyway, so it won't be a hardship at all. I guarantee you that! So back to it...after reading the first book, my heart already ached for Griff and Britta. Therefore, I thought I was prepared for the emotional pull that these two would drag me into, but I wasn't. I wasn't at all. My heart was aching pretty much through this whole book, but by the end, I can tell you, it was so incredibly worth it!

"If you choose your head over your heart." Jesus, she simply can't. "I know you. You'll be miserable."

"Maybe. But that's better than being broken."

There is just so much passion and unforgettable emotion coming from this story. You could feel what the characters were feeling. It was so intense and heartbreaking. I absolutely adored Griff's persistence and hated Britta's hesitancy, even though I get where she was coming from. But there is a third-party (their son) in this story, which adds another level of heartbreak. This story felt so real and so raw, that I couldn't help but wonder how the hell they were going to get their happily ever after. The author makes us work for it, that's for sure, putting our hearts through the ringer time and time again, leaving us in a big pile of feels and angst. Don't worry, there is a happily ever after. Just be prepared to work for it on every emotional level. Be prepared to fall in love, have your heart broken, and then carefully mended back together by a master.

I'm extremely excited when the announcement came out that there is going to be a third book in this incredible series and it's Harlow's book! Harlow is Griff and Maxon's sister, and there is a little build up to her story at the end of MORE THAN NEED YOU, that just has me all kinds of excited!

5 Stars!

Shayla continues to blow me away with each and every book she writes. She’s an absolute master with words, has a way of turning a bunch of words into an incredible love story and without doubt it’ll swallow you whole, consume you for weeks to come and almost leave you breathless after finishing one of her books, and More Than Need You was no exception. I love a good second chance romance, and this book has everything and more that I love about them.

If you’ve read book 1 in the More Than Words series you’ll have a little more understanding on the history with Griff and Britta. It’s not necessary to read book 1 but for a better view on what’s going on, it’s probably a good idea to start with it.

Griff? I absolutely loved him. Bit of an arrogant asshole at times (I have a thing for his types ;) ) but when you get deeper into the book you will realise why he is the way he is, the reasons behind what he’s done and that all he wants to do now is better himself, his life and the ones he loves and show them that he can be the man that they need him to be.

Britta? She’s a single mother that has been through hell and back in her life and carries a lot of baggage and holds a lot of resentment towards Griff, even though she loves him more than words will ever explains, she struggles to trust him, struggles to trust that’ll be the father that Jamie needs.

Together they are fireworks, the love shared between these two is intense, all consuming, heart breaking, beautiful and overwhelming all in one hit. They had so much to work through and the past continues to test their relationship at every turn, holds them both back from living a happier life together with their child.

Will Britta be able to get over the resentment she holds against Griff and make this work? Will Griff be able to show Britta that he’s a changed man, that he wants nothing more than to build a better life with her and his child?

This book had me in tears. I was an emotional mess. Such a rollercoaster of emotions, passion, heartache and held my attention from page one all the way to the end. Ms. Black broke my heart into a million pieces, just to put all back together piece by piece as I got deeper into the story. Shayla delivers yet another amazing story with twists and turns, a story that’ll pull at your heart strings and have in a messy ball of emotions.

Honestly, the author cannot go wrong. She continues to prove to me that she can write just about anything and it’ll be phenomenal. The emotions, heart and passion that’s poured into each and every of her books is beautiful. I can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for book 3 to this series, but one thing I do know, it’s going to be epic!

I knew I wasn't going to like the book from the moment we were introduced to Griffin in book 1. The exes and the sexual parters of both of them were still mentioned at 70% while, it took half the book for Britta to decide to move in with Griffin. It makes me wonder how Britta slept with him without having him to 100 tests for STDs. I ain't buying that " I was looking for someone like you in the faces (or pussies I might add) of other women" or the "They meant nothing to me, only you matter" lines anymore. The lack of trust on his part when it was clarified that Britta had nothing to do with what happened 3 years ago was unjustified and it made me dislike him even more. Can I also mention that he was planning a wedding, his wedding with Britta, while she had no idea and the date was the one she had set with her fiance? The man she is with for more than half of the book? Second chance romances are not my thing and this one was even messier than your average read. Griffin was just stupid and I couldn't like him for 95% of the book. The only thing that won me over to an extent is what he did after he told everything to Britta about his past. What bugged me the most, is that he didn't mention even once that he was sorry for what he did and his behavior for the duration of the story was something like this " I don't care if Britta has a good life or if she is happy, I am going to do everything in my power to make her mine (not in a good alpha way) and unsettle everything she knew". He felt like he owned and I was not happy with that. Britta had some moments that made me like her, but in others, I was wondering what that woman was thinking.

I really tried to like the book. But it wasn't for me. It had so many elements that I hate in a story, that even if I didn't have a prejudice against it, they would have made the book a no-no for me. Harlow's story is next and that's good. I wanted to read her story since book 1 and as long as she doesn't spend too much time with Simon, I will be happy. It was obvious that that man is not the one for her and I want to see her marry for love.

I was looking forward to this book after More than Want You and to see how in the world Griff and Britta are going to come to terms with years of baggage, miscommunication and little boy.
Griffin is successful and a bit jaded. He believes he knows what caused the end of his and Britta's relationship but now things are different. He is different but it might be too little too late. Britta is finally moving on and trying to find a life for her and her son. She doesn't want to still love Griffin, she doesn't want that kind of pain in her life and neither can really trust the other.
So begins the emotional journey between these two. Griffin had some double standards and at times was a bit overbearing. Britta being confused about her feelings and what she is going to do comes off freezing cold and eventually steamy hot. This was a story that had me hooked. I wanted to know what was going to happen and see how they began to repair that bridge they created. The jealousy and miscommunication is a highlight in their lives which always causes a good amount of drama.
This series is unlike what else I have read from this author. There are a lot more feelings and emotion. A lot of pain and love flow through the pages. There is still some smoking hot scenes that I have come to look forward to from Ms. Black but beyond that there is a lot of story and substance. And even though our main characters made me, at times, what to reach through the book to shake them around a bit they held my attention throughout.
The series is not done and like the last time, we are geared up for Harlow's story. There is enough of her and what's happening her life to make you want to find out more.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

I really didn't want to like Griffin. I mean really arrogant, cutthroat and a manwhore, who would like him. But as with everything there is a reason for the way he is now. And when you read this story you will find out what made him become this person.
Britta broke the day she found out she was pregnant and tried to tell Griff, but she had to move on and become a single mother. She is finally where she wanted to be and really didn't need Griff in her life.
Griff tried his best to show Britta that he can change and be a better person for her and his son, but she really didn't want to see that he has changed

This was a emotional, realistic rollercoaster ride of a book and when you read it you will want to smack some people but also you want to hug them and tell them everything is going to be okay

Well, this one’s shit.
Shitty MMC. Shitty side character ( I think her name was Keley? Or Kelsey? Something like that lol)
The FMC could use a bit more backbone but what do I expect on 2nd chance stories with asshole MMCs, right?

The MMC (whose name I forgot) wants ALL of the FMC without giving himself. He says all the sweet and nice promises But doesn’t fulfill them. It is only up until the end when he gave everything he is to the FMC. That screams hypocrisy rather than love.

This is also one of the books where “Oh I have sa d and tragic past that’s why it gives me justification to be a trashy person huhu cry cry” trope. Utter garbage.
