Travel tip: Pack light and don’t get framed for murder.
When Nick Palmer, America's most beloved travel expert, invites Elsie Hargrove to speak at his European guides convention, she expects to share stories of her international adventures. But after Italian museum director Carlo Rossi crashes the party with accusations of theft, the atmosphere turns deadly. When Rossi is found murdered in Nick's house, the famous guidebook author becomes the prime suspect.
Working with Detective Jack Goodman once again, Elsie must navigate the complex world of travel professionals—each with intimate knowledge of foreign countries, cultural secrets... and possibly motives for murder.
As she investigates a room full of professional storytellers, Elsie must separate fact from fiction before Nick's career is ruined—or worse, before the killer books someone else a one-way ticket to the afterlife.
Fans of Kerry Greenwood's Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Louise Penny's Three Pines series, Joanne Fluke's culinary mysteries, and M.C. Beaton's Hamish Macbeth books will love this charming cozy mystery with a strong female lead.
This adventure was about Elsie looking into the allegations that Nick Palmer a friend of her Aunt Leona's and Elsie's occasional adventure companion stole a priceless bust from an Italian museum and Elsie was also commissioned to find and return a priceless emerald necklace stolen from a local museum. The Italian museum Director shows up to accuse Nick of stealing the bust only to get himself killed and stiffed into Nicks infamous locker, thus framing Nick for the murder. The scheme Elsie comes up with includes taking over a TV station and provides the proof to nail a killer and a thief. I had no idea who the killer was till they were revealed. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
A stolen gem, an ancient bust, and a murder lead Elsie and her group of friends, with individual talents, to a conclusion worthy of Mission: Impossible (the TV show, not the movie).
