When Detective Mac Logan receives a frantic call from a woman claiming she knows a murder is about to take place because of a psychic vision, his first reaction is to write her off as a certified nutcase. But when he discovers a young woman has recently been reported missing, Mac feels compelled to check it out.
As he and the psychic, Rennie O’Neal, race against time to find the woman before it’s too late, a grudging admiration and belief in Rennie’s abilities begins to form. But she is not the only one hearing voices. Drawn to the beautiful, fascinating woman, Mac is soon hearing voices too; whispers to the heart that tell him what he feels for Rennie is much more than admiration.
4 novella stars. I rate on a different scale for novellas to allow for less development of background stories and character development.
I'm not a fan of novellas because not many authors can really pull one off. This one was well done, though. Fast paced, good balance in the suspense plot, pretty much instalove but still believable; all the "bones" of a standard book length are there while maintaining the tight focus needed in a short book.
There is nothing particularly original in this story, but I'm just fine with tried-and-true formulas when done well.
But it read choppy. It didn't flow. I still liked it but I think it could use more editing. I kind of wish this was a series too. I love psychic novels. The heroine calls in a murder that hadn't happened yet. She meets Mac and instantly falls in love. Its very sweet. They catch the murderer but he gets away. And the chase is,on. There is one scene that was very emotional but it didn't hit as hard,as I thought it should. I hate to critique because I am not a writer but I do read a lot and this one was just a smidge away from being really good!
the title of the book made me think this was going to be a cheesy romance novel,I was wrong.the descriptions were vivid the story flowed and most importantly the plot was original.enjoyed the cookbooks me two days to finish it.
