This review contains spoilers but I’m not going to turn the spoiler tag on because y’all deserve to be 👹spoiled👹.

A maid knocked up by a mob boss? A love story of a maid (Zoya) and her baby daddy (Mikhail)? Soo romantic, you think?

You think wrong.

Because the baby daddy dies

And his twin brother (Aleksandr) comes to Zoya’s rescue

Lose 1 get 1 free.

Now there was no love lost between Zoya and Mikhail, he always showed a lecherous interest in her and flirted with her sometimes, until he decided to take that lecherous interest to a new level and drugged Zoya and raped her which resulted in a pregnancy.

Zoya has no recollection of being raped or who her baby daddy is.

Even Mikhail is unaware of his impending fatherhood.

Meanwhile Mikhail’s mother:

“The baby is Mikhail’s.”

The words die in my mouth. A tear slips down her cheek, and she quickly wipes it away.

“Mikhail is the father,” she says again in case I didn’t understand the first time.

“Did Boris tell you that, too?” I ask. If he did, I don’t care that he is my uncle; I’ll knock him on his ass. I am third in line to being the boss, and I shouldn’t be kept in the dark on important family matters.

She shakes her head. “I just know.”

The confidence with which she made the assertion that the baby was Mikhail’s was ✨pure entertainment✨. Apparently the lady was even more aware of Zoya’s love life (or lack thereof) than Zoya herself.

If you’re ever in doubt of your kid’s paternity just ask mama Mikhail. She knows everything.

Zoya: What is the antonym for doormat? Z O Y A. This chick was a ray of sunshine. A breath of fresh air. Despite being a maid she refused to take anyone’s shit. Her stand of defiance was so refreshingly amusing. And her facetious attitude even more so.

Defiant Zoya:

Look at how my girl (🤱🏻🥰😍❤️‍🔥🥵) defiantly refused to prepare Aleksandr’s room when she was on her lunch break:

“No one prepared my room.” She is eating a kurnik, steam billowing out of the golden crust. The sight of it makes my stomach turn. “The bed hasn’t even been made.”

“I’m sorry, but I was not informed you would be arriving—”

“My uncle knew well in advance.” I cut her off. “There is no excuse.”

Her lips press together into a line, and her nostrils flare. “I will take care of it as soon as I am finished—”

“Now.”

“Excuse me?” It is clear she is not asking because she didn’t hear me. It is a challenge. Of my authority and my position. A maid in my uncle’s household is taking a stand against me. If I didn’t feel so murderous, it would almost be funny.”

Facetious Zoya:

“You need to finish your fucking job!” I yell.

She shifts her weight to one leg, her opposite hip jutting out, highlighting the soft curve of her body from waist to thigh. It is distracting. Her blue eyes burn into me, leaving angry, scorching marks across my face. She raises a dark eyebrow. “And what if I don’t?”

Heat pulses through my core, leaving me unsteady and uncomfortable. I stare back at her with every bit of rage I’ve gathered throughout the day, every bit of frustration and disappointment. The anger seeps out in my words like acid, burning across the space between us.

“You’ll regret it.”

Zoya meets my gaze and then throws her head back and laughs.”

Needless to say her reasonable yet stupid act of defiance resulted in Aleksandr firing her (my boi here doing god’s work, ugh🙄) Which subsequently led her to leave her cottage and rent an apartment in a place riddled with crime 👹, where she was (conveniently) attacked by Aleksandr’s rivals at three in the morning when she was coming back from work.

Oo a scared, pregnant and unarmed girl?

Whoever was going to save this damsel in distress?

✨A L E K S A N D R✨ that is who.

It was too cliché but it still gave me butterflies. 😶😶‍🌫️

“Every emotion I’ve felt and kept buried for the last twenty-four hours overwhelms me all at once, and I feel my legs begin to give out.

Before I can hit the ground, I feel a strong arm around my waist.

“Zoya?” His voice is deep and concerned.

Aleksandr lowers me gently to the pavement, and I want to say something to ease his worry, but I can’t summon the words.”

Alarmingly nonchalant Zoya:😮

I loved how she never tried too hard to remember how she got pregnant or who her baby daddy was. She quite literally just rolled with it. She never even questioned if she’d been raped or if she’d been a willing participant 🙂🙂. She just woke up one day found out she was prego, said tough luck, shrugged and moved on like it was a totally normal occurrence 😃🥵 That is the level of nonchalance I want to reach in life. 🤩🤩

This was a quick read. Skimmed all the puerile and predictable mafia talks. Laughed at the inevitability of Alek and Zoya falling into bed and 2 seconds later falling in love. This would have been a 5 star read if there had been more angsty banter and searing sexual tension between the main characters. 👹

Worst wrong book title EVER.

It should have been "Raped by the mob boss".

Rape pill is NOT a normal sex, the heroine completly ignored that small simple fact, continiued her life as if NOTHING has happend to her, WTF?!

I mean, we all woke up some morning with sperm between our legs with no memory and found out we were pregnant right? yeh let's have a rape baby with no police check or detail of the father's identity...

to those who didn't read this, it wasn't by the hero of the book.

Not for me. I DNF'd before I got too far when I realized the FMC was pregnant before she even met the MMC. I checked out some spoilers and apparently , so I guess he comes to the "rescue". That's not my kind of jam.

This is a story that after I finished it I realised how complex and reliant on luck or karma it was. Maybe even something else? Because how it turned out could not have happened otherwise.
Twin brothers, lookalikes but very different in nature and one maid plus a really exciting story. It is really good and well worth reading, I loved it.

This one was a decent length pretty fast pace.

Alemsandr is sorta head or semi head of his mob family along side with his twin brother Mikhali but Mik has been alittle everywhere. Aleksandr is already annoyed so when he visit his uncle he is already in a mood and yells at Zoya a young maid who was on her lunch break and he's heard about her from his uncle and twin brother.. the tension is high between the two and he fires her not knowing her secret.  Zoya is shocked that she got fired or that his uncle would let him, moving out of the compound and into a small apartment zoya is slightly having a hard time since she's prego. She also doesn't remember that night or the man she slept with since she thinks she was drugged.

Alexksandr is upset about how he acted towards Zoya also his mother spilled some beans about Mik his twin bro is Zoya baby daddy.. he's shocked and alittle jealous... he goes to talk to her and saves her from some rival thugs. Trying to keep her safe because of the baby and because he has feelings.. but lies and more mysteries are thrown.. lots of Agnst...
We find out also that Mik twin brother did force himself on a drugged up Zoya.. and Mik is dead.. because of a overdose...

More mob wars.. and Zoya and Aleksandr getting closer plus another betrayal..

I rated this alittle lower.. cuz for someone who got sexually assaulted or is she just saying it was a drunk one night stand.. cuz honestly to me that feels like rape.... she was not as scared, jumpy, alllll that stuff.. she was all cool and collective.. idk how i feel about the couple since the guy who assaulted her was his twin brother.. and its his twins baby.. well atleast he dead...

Angst, drama, no cheating, no ow drama, slight secondary charas, sexy time, no virgins and no manwhore..

Recommend- ehh naw
Cover- ⭐⭐

Slowish-insta
Sexual assault (she was drugged she got knocked up she doesn't even remember)

Once again I am confused as to why I am reading a book. I have a list of over 1000 books I want to read. This is not on the list. So…. How did I end up on in chapter 6? I do not know.
I do not know how to rate this. There is no virgin hero. That is my favorite genre.
It is a mafia book, not my genre.
This chick is pregnant, not interesting to me.
But even when a genre, time period, and plot do not speak to me, I will still be all in if it is smutty as heck. This is not smutty. I do not know why it would be on anyone’s “erotic” shelf. There is one sex scene and sex in the epilogue. But that is it.
Worst if all, she was a virgin who did not consent to lose that status, yet…as I said… pregnant.
I hate when a virgin is hurt and/or forced.

That said, doesn’t seem fair to give the book a poor rating. This story is as advertised. I am at fault fir starting a book without reading what it is about. What am I talking about!? The TITLE is “knocked up by the mob boss!! I didn’t need a summary to figure out what this was about!

So, why did I stick with it and finish this book to the end? The story. The romance. This is one of those books with major misunderstandings and I had to see how and when the truth would come out. I guess I read this book for the …. Story!? (That is not like me!)

The powerful and the powerless.

The haves and the have-nots.

"Knocked Up by the Mob Boss" is a dark, passion-fueled story about the spark and chaos that erupts whenever these two ends of the spectrum meet. Aleksandr has everything - money, influence, alpha dominance emanating from his very soul. Zoya has next to nothing: no father, no future, no answers to the questions of how her life got so grim. But when they're thrown together, they redefine what it means to be in control - both of yourself and your destiny. And along the way, they show that power comes in many different forms, and that wielding it responsibly is as difficult as gaining it in the first place.

I loved wrestling with these questions of 'who's really in charge here' while I was writing this book! It makes for a fun, exciting thriller, and for a unique romance that surprises you at every turn. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed dreaming it up. And I hope that, by the time you're finished, you ask yourself the same question I did:

What power do I have that I didn't even realize? And how can I use it for good?

Enjoy!

Spoilers ahead

Ok I honestly felt like the synopsis and title was misleading, because the FC wasnt knocked up by the mob boss she was knocked up and unfortunately raped by the mob boss son. Also she wasnt on the run because of the pregnancy, she was fired so she moved away. Now put that aside the story was was good, but lacked the excitement that I usually get in a mafia story. The chemistry between Zoya and alek it really didnt show until after they slept together. Around that time that's when the story started to become interesting.

This was a good story!

This was a good read with relatable characters. Zoya is a strong woman even if she is a little naive. Alek is stubborn and kind of snobby to be honest, but I love both of these characters and quite enjoyed the story. I definitely think this story is a good one and I recommend it.

Zoya’s mother works for a high powered mob member and has all her life. They live on his property where her mother is a maid and now Zoya is as well. At least she was until she runs into Aleksandr in the kitchen when she’s eating her lunch. He demands she drop everything to prepare his room and she balks. She’s pregnant and she’s starving and she’s on her break. A quarrel ensues and Aleksandr in a fit of anger fires her and she is banished from her home as well as her job. Alone, jobless and homeless Zoya struggles to find a dumpy apartment she can afford and a job she can work with no education. Eventually Aleksandr begins to regret his juvenile actions after all it was anger at his twin brother Mikhail and his actions that drove his emotions not anything Zoya did or didn’t do so he seeks Zoya out. Just as he arrives he finds her being attacked by two thugs. This seals Zoya’s fate Aleksandr insists she return to the house with him where he can protect her until the attack on his family is quelled. While they’re staying in such close proximity sparks fly and emotions run rampant their attraction to each other cannot be denied but will they be able to stay alive while being under attack by a rival mob and achieve a HEA? I was gifted a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.

Wow

Don’t let the title of this book fool you. There are twist and turns to this story. Plot twist, betrayal, murder, and love. My only wish if there had been just a little more story of Zoya and Aleksandr.

I listened to this as an audiobook. I enjoyed this enough while I was listening to it, especially compared to the other book I was listening to at the same time. The writing itself was better than some of the truly awful mafia romances I've read this year. But the relationship was not developed particularly well, so unfortunately this has to go on the growing list of mafia romances that support my theory that I don't like mafia romances. I just need someone to explain to me what it is that makes mafia romance books allergic to any kind of emotional relationship development. Why is it that in every single one you have two people who barely know each other, they have great sex, and then swear their undying devotion to each other. I mean, do all mafia romance authors have to sign some kind of contract or something before they’re allowed to publish? Alek really made me not a fan of his from his confrontation with Zoya and how he got her fired. Yes, Zoya was giving him more attitude than she should have been, but it wasn’t her fault that his room wasn’t ready. She didn’t know he was coming and it sucks that he didn’t believe her. And we know that she’s pregnant and needs to eat. It’s really shitty that he would ruin her life over that one argument. Because he wasn’t just responsible for her losing her job, but her home as well. And not just the roof over her head but the only home she’s ever known. It’s just bad on so many levels. I enjoyed watching him be so protective of her later on, but that didn’t really redeem him. I still feel like he’s just not that great of a person. I like that the baby wasn’t Aleksandr’s. I definitely don’t hate the accidental pregnancy trope as much as I used to, but I am more likely to dislike it when it happens to two characters who aren’t really romantically involved yet, they’re just sleeping together. That can still work for me sometimes, but I don't like when it feels like they get/stay together out of obligation and then end up falling in love. I like that this was different. And having it be his brother who raped her, knocked her up, and then died made things much more interesting and complicated. I’m glad that Alek’s mom was the one who told Alek the baby was Mikhail’s, so that we didn’t have to watch Zoya try to convince him. Although it does suck that he jumped to the wrong conclusion about what happened between them and we had to go through all of that. I hated Zoya’s mom obviously. Yeah Zoya getting pregnant in her situation is not ideal, but it happened. It’s done. I don’t understand her need to make things even harder for Zoya. And then add in the fact that Zoya had been a virgin – meaning she’d never actually had irresponsible sex – and she’s pregnant because she was raped? Really hard not to hate her mom even more. Obviously her mom didn’t know about that and Zoya refused to tell her, but how about we just love our daughters and give them the benefit of the doubt? I’d think long and hard before allowing her to be around her grandchild. This was not one of the worse mafia romances I've read this year, but it also wasn’t one of the better ones. It landed somewhere in the middle.

Unfortunately, this volume of Russian Crime Brotherhood just did not do it for me. The characters were flat, emotionless, contradictory blobs. There was zero exploration of the devastating trauma faced by the h/H throughout the story. Even the "meet-cute" just didn't make any sense...

I ended up putting this up to 3x speed just to get through it.

Aleksandr and Zoya's love story

Aleksandr Levushka and his twin brother Mikhail are the 23 year old heirs to the Levushka Bratva family. As Mikhail is 2 minutes older than Aleksandr, he is the one destined to take over from his father. The problem is that Mikhail is not mentally or emotionally equipped for this role. He is a drug addict, alcoholic and a complete disaster.
For years, Aleksandr has held the family together behind the scenes.
Aleksandr travels to St. Petersburg to conduct business in place of Mikhail, who promised to go into rehab. He discovers how badly Mikhail has not been handling business, with incoherent contracts, a new competing family threatening their territory, and uncollected contracts. His father, who has always favored Mikhail, refuses to meet or even talk to him.
Zoya Orlov is a 20 year old woman who has lived on Aleksandr's uncle Boris' estate her entire life as her parents have served as caretaker and maid. She became a maid 4 years ago.
Zoya is pregnant, but she has no recollection of how she became pregnant. She went to a club, had a drink, and then woke up in her bed the next day, violated, even though she had been a virgin. Her father recently died, and her mother refuses to talk to her because of the pregnancy.
Aleksandr is in a very bad mood and encounters Zoya, who is disrespectful. He convinces Boris to fire her, then is guilty when his mother tells him that Zoya is pregnant with his now deceased brother's baby
Things get even more complicated from this point. The story is very entertaining, with lots of plot twists.
The author offers a bonus epilogue, which should definitely be part of the book.
I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. I feel like this is the turning point book for the series, and better than the previous ones. I enjoyed the others too, but this was quite clearly a better set out book with more emotion through the characters. We also get a nice couple of juicy twists that were very pleasing to me.

Our heroine is a maid for the hero's Uncle and has found herself pregnant... That adds an interesting aspect to the story, but no spoilers here! The hero is third in command for the Bratva, his twin brother is due to take over from their Father, but he seems to always be doing double the work while his brother parties and has addiction problems. Our hero and heroine get in to a disagreement when his room isn't ready for his arrival and he's rude to her when she is trying to eat her lunch. They have both been having a bad day, and it escalates with neither of them wanting to back down! Well he gets her fired, but it isn't long before he's feeling the guilt creeping up on him for what he's done, and the story that plays out from that point is paced nicely with steam, action and Mafia twists.

I would have liked to see some more interactions between our hero and his father, and little more with the big ending twist too, however this is a truly enjoyable book and I really look forward to more from this author. I know this series is one of her older ones and I'm excited to read some of her newer work!

An Entertaining read that kept me engaged throughout.
Zoya is a maid who irritates the hell out of Alexsandr one day where nothing seems to be going right, she had been living and working for his uncle for most of her life.So she knows of Alexsandr and his twin brother Mikhail, when they stay over.
She has never had a confrontation with any of them before until this day when he just annoys her with his demands, which results in her being fired.
Of course Alexsandr can't stop thinking about her and then he finds out she is pregnant and it could be his brothers child,he feels the need to protect her,and get to know her.
Which results in a mutual attraction, and sexy times.Even though she was pregnant Alexsandr didn't seem to mind.
It was a hard thing to read the way Zoya got pregnant and she had no memory of it,and she couldn't tell anyone because she couldn't remember.
Another amazing story that I was really intrigued by,the ending to this book was so swoon worthy and I loved Alexsandr and the way he embraced fatherhood.
wonderful read.

OOOO this one!! The FMC gives off massive “what do I do?” Vibes but in the way of a ditzy FMC. I mean she was the maid for someone in the mafia and she kept saying the dude was so nice. She just didn’t see the bad side of the guy much. But hold your horses because nah man, she is fire!! She legit may not fully grasp how bad everything is but she is quick witted and truly comes into her strength! The MMC ones into her life like a bull in a china shop. Yet they manage to fall for each other and end up fighting to stay with each other. They truly fought to keep each other alive. The MMC is a smart dude and he was blindsided continuously. His twin and uncle were running the family business into the ground. His father favored his brother. Then two of those people die and the MMC ends up blindsided by the other. Down right crazy!!! This book, I would say, is probably my favorite book of the series and I feel like it was beautifully written!

Rollercoaster of emotions

This story has some very real life situations dealt within it, that could possibly be too much for some people. But it is well written and shows a huge deal of empathy and sensitivity within the confines of the subject!! This book has you smiling one minute, crying the next and real toe-curling and laugh out loud moments throughout. It's not a book to be taken lightly as the topic dealt within it is extremely sensitive and a lot of people just wouldn't be able to handle it. However, give the book a chance, it really is worth it, as I said it is dealt with in a very empathetic and mature way, showing just how easy something like this can and does happen to do many young women. I applaud Nicole for the way she wrote this book.
Yes I will definitely recommend this book 😊😊

Intense, Dark Romance, Full of Betrayal and Desire

This story is intense and there is a lot of violence that impacts a lot of the main characters. Aleksandr loves his family but relations are strained and when his brother does the unthinkable he has to re-think his future, his intentions, and decide what to do with the people he loves.

Zoya is strong and resilient but even some things are hard to overcome no matter how much strength one person can muster. She has a tough go and when she is placed in harms way she does everything she can to survive. She has grown to love and need Aleksandr with all that she is but sometimes the world has different plans. This is an intense read but it’s worth the ride. These two were meant to be together and through their strength and commitment for each other they can conquer anything. Happy Reading!!

Zoya was a maid in a Russian mob family. When she discovers she is pregnant but has no memory of ever being intimate with a man, she finds herself torn. Alexie is the second-born son in the Bratva mob family. His older twin brother is a drug addict and has been making a mess of their family business. When he returns home to help settle things so his brother can go to rehab, he encounters Zoya and sparks fly.

This reads like a soap opera. It isn’t deep and the reader has to just go with the flow of the unbelievable aspects of the tale, but this book was better than the first I read by the author.

It was going really well ...until I came across this-

"I expect to be jealous, and I am, not because he has been with other women. I am jealous other women have been with him.....
.....In the end, it might be nice to find the other women he has been with. Start a support group or something."

What? WHAT?

Was this supposed to be an attempt at lame joke? Because this doesn't sound funny.

Miss Fox, are you right in the head? Do you have some unresolved self-esteem issues you should see a therapist for?

Because what disguting garbage is this?

The book went from 3 stars to 2 star for me here.

The sex scenes were good though.

DNF… I lm not one to read books about oopsie pregnancies. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves. But being that I’ve been reading this series I figured, why not? I didn’t get far. The lead female is 20 & pregnant from an accidental pregnancy. Ugh. Literally a child having a child & thinking she knows what she’s getting in to. When her mother tells it like it is, she realizes she didn’t even think about the important things that were brought up. And that’s what makes an an immature child. Getting pregnant by “accident” does not mean you need to keep it! Especially when you’re an idiot 20 year old who hasn’t thought a anything through!!!! Just a big nope for me.

Unexpected

Another amazing read. I actually couldn’t put this book down. Zoya and Alek story for me from the beginning to see two people from two different worlds come together due to Alek loyalty to family namely his twin brother was commendable. The storyline as well written and i felt like I truly understood the characters position and why they were the way they were. The climax was unexpected however was believable. Not far fetched at all. Good read. Definitely would recommend reading this book.

Ughhhh I really hate when books have such good concepts but the execution sucks. This book had so much potential but some of the plot points were absolutely unnecessary and stupid.

My biggest issue is the fact that Zoya was raped and impregnated (not a spoiler) and she literally was just ‘okay idk what happened to me but now I’m pregnant yay’. Like wtf?! Like she literally just went along with it. And her whole attitude about it and then the side characters involvement in it was literally just so freakin weird I’m just in shock right now.

I'll only explain why only a 1⭐

I see too many American writers writing about countries they know little to none about. This book is no different.
I don't live i Russia, I have never been to Russia but I know for a fact, seeing I read about other countries, cultures and languages (and do live in Europe) , that this is butchering family dynamic, how they talk, how they act, how work culture is, how strangers act towards each other, what they eat, values etc.

Write about a mafia family American washed in the states. Or do your research!

I officially became a Nicole Fox fan about 2?? Months ago and haven’t wavered a bit! Yes, some stories are hit & miss but still entertaining! This story was intriguing with its dynamics and twists. Of course I know Nicole’s recipe now so had The “who dun it” narrowed down early on. Can’t wait to fine my next Nicole read! This one I gobbled down in half a day.
