Very wordy...then the ending was explained very quickly and not too clearly. My thoughts were that I had waded through this book for a very abrupt wind-up. It as if the author's mother had called up the stairs saying, "You need to finish up now & go to sleep" ... And she did.

I liked it a lot. The then/now shifts in the story and characters kept me trying to figure things out. I didn't guess the twist in this one. I usually can so started looking for other books by Mary after I finished this one.
