I was a Hunter, and I honored the Code. For my services to humanity and for leading a "proper" life, I was to be rewarded. A new life after death, and a new world to give me some well-deserved rest.
But something went wrong. Once again, I must fight. The Monsters that face me here are far more terrifying than those of my past life. They are cleverer, crueler, more unpredictable. And their name is . . .
This book is bad in every sense. The writing is garbage. Either machine translated or written by lazy chat GBT. It makes no sense most of the time and the characters are worthless. The only reason this may have been written by a person is the weirdly pathetic way the author portrays women and how the mc interacts with them. Any 3 or higher ratings for this are most likely fake
Great book good story person ends up in another body coming from another world with knowledge and skills. If this is your thing, it’s well written and ready for you to read.
I only have one main issue with the book. It seems a bit misogynistic. I don’t mind the book with a strong male lead. I’ll just say it sometimes in this book only the men seem to be strong. The women seem to be not so strong, let’s say. Yes there are a few strong female characters, but the rest seem to be at the mercy of men . I also didn’t like how the main character somehow needed to have sex. No no he just doesn’t have sex with anyone. It turns out when his skills are used he literally has to cool his libido it goes into overdrive. That just didn’t make sense to me other than to make up a reason for the MC in the story to have to have sex with women. Again overall great story 5.0 on my scale, but I know some people might be turned off by this, so I mentioned it.
I read this in an ARC. I pointed out some major plot holes in the very beginning of the story. They weren't fixed. This is the only reason why I give this three stars. The story truly picks up and gets better later.
It combines the worst bits of an aristocrat with a hunter. So the MC is just an arrogant a$$#ole who thinks he is funny. The story has no solid direction since the main character is just messing about.
Predominantly written for men. The main character is very sexist. Has very traditional views for women, e.i, home making and sex. The MC has a flaw with his power that it makes him "excited." No graphic sex scenes. It was kept tasteful while giving me a good chuckle.
I felt the authors didn't stick to the story well. There were a few contradicting points in the timeline (mainly how everyone is classified) and character progression. I listen to it twice, and I can not recall where the MC finds out that his friend is the Count. It's just mentioned in a conflict and accepted as fact.
Overall... I love the smart-ass characters and the witty come backs, the author delivered attitude in spades. I enjoyed the first two books and will finish what is published so far. I may not remember the books if anymore come out after the 4th. (The 5th is not yet available on audible)

The first half of the book was decent fun, but then they seem to run out of plot and rather than come up with some more, whatshisname just rambles around, acting like a dick and making unfunny quips. People come and go, nothing really seems to matter. Oh here’s the page count, quick, cliffhanger! But we only have one paragraph left! Just have it make no sense, that’ll be fine. Reader, it was not fine.
Free on Kindle Unlimited. Decent read, not much new in the way of the genre, but story was interesting and kept me engaged. I will be continuing the series. Cons: what is up with the MC being such a horn dog all the time? I get it but I think the author went overboard with that troupe. I get the feeling reading this book, the author has little respect for women in general.(could just be how I’m interpreting the book) Worth a read for free.
I really liked this book. Actually, it would be safe to say that I loved this book. The problem is that the end was just there. You're going along, and BAM, it's over. It's worth the read, but you might want to wait until closer to the sequel release.
It is books like these that really confirm that most reviews on this genre HAVE to be fake. This is terrible. Like actually terrible. Brain dead story that makes most Xian Xias look like Shakespearean writings.
I had initial perception that this will be an influence building novel like Last Life( one of the best novel) or Healers Way but Mc's whole family gets killed in initial chapters and he becomes a solo guy. Maybe in the future, he will establish his order but for now, i will put this on hold

The protagonist is very self-satisfied (which isn't the worst thing but if nothing is actually a challenge then conflict is meaningless) and, as it's setting up for a harem, has the requisite attitude towards women.
Good read. Alexander is definitely not the stereotypical main character for sure. Has some characteristics that some might find distasteful. Even me. After thinking about it, he is entertainingly and interestingly flawed. Not boring!
From the very beginning I hated the protagonist and he never EVER improved. The story is all tell and no show, badly written and never quite makes sense.
The first book is under KU. After, that, it over $7 per book. Not falling for this kind of garbage. Good story and well written, but not enough for the additional cost
This one is rated on a curve, the one for "Slavic" style writing. It is distinct in tone from "Western" writers (particualrly NA/UK) so I cut it a bit of slack for the culture gap.
If someone whose first language is English wrote this it'd get a 3. The MC is narcissistic to an almost sociopathic level, which I always find a bit off-putting. The writing style is also more 'abrupt' for lack of a better word. It is however common in the sampling of "Eastern" LRPG books I've read. I like the pragmatism, and this MC isn't a psychopath, but there is an element of insouciance in his manner that is a bit jarring for me.
It isn't enough to put me off (he does like animals so he can't be all bad) but here we come to the economic angle of reading a lot. This was on KU, which is what has allowed me to try out many books and unknown authors that I wouldn't spend $10-$15/book to experiment with. I am not sufficiently enthralled with this character/story to spend $50 to get the rest of it.
You may feel different/have more disposable income than I do, but this isn't good enough to be put on the list of authors whse books I'll actually buy. It's a short list, and those books always get 5 stars.
Let's be honest. The book doesn't deserve a very high rating, because it's just a succession of fights won hands down and without much strategy. After his death, Xander gets a well-deserved rest because he respected the Hunter's Code. WHAT IS THIS CODE MY FRIEND? DID YOU FORGET WHY YOU CREATED THIS DAMN BOOK!? Sorry.
But in the world and with the assets of his life, he's not going to rest at all. As well as being “potentially” weak, he's an aristrocate, and therefore prone to constant violence. Is that so? What kind of pitch is that?
So Xander, after years of playing the weakling to his family because he doesn't want to be disturbed, goes to show his might as soon as they turn their backs. With the identity he's been given. REALLY? REALLY? YOU GET RID OF YOUR FAMILY AND TAKE ON THE FALSE IDENTITY THEY PROVIDE? WHEN THEY STILL WANT YOU DEAD?
Wobbly world. Globally shaky system. Wobbly history. But I needed this so I read them. It did me good and I was going to put 4, but it's so hollow that it deserves 2. So 3. I can go back to real books now, thanks!

PS: I know you want to go on the harem theme. You didn't but I can see it coming. Stop. Just stop.
I really like this book/series. At the end of the book I kept thinking that it stopped too soon and I wanted more. I’m a bit confused on the names. Many of the characters have similar names. Also a person could also be called by their first name, last name, title, nickname, or an additional name they have that isn’t a nickname. I get them mixed up often. There’s a couple other things I’d want cleared up, but I can’t explain what they are without spoilers. It’s just some minor inconsistencies that I either misunderstood or the authors missed while writing. Even with my confusion, it’s still a great book and I would definitely recommend.
A poorly translated weak attempt at a progressions story with an reincarnated protagonist. Pulls out powers by the handful whenever it's convenient or needed with no explanations provided besides he's really powerful but he's not. This happens over and over and over again. Storytelling is all over the place it's poor at best. I would probably have given it three stars but after the first book the author tries to charge a bucks a pop for the rest and it's just nowhere near worth it compared to all the content on Kindle unlimited.
I received a review copy of this book. Excellent story. I've always liked the stories where a lone wolf makes it despite the odds. This story fits right in there. Never fails to amuse me when their antics attract the wrong attention, it's always fun to see how they escape their various pridicaments. This story was fun, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Books like this one really show off how utterly broken the review mechanic is here at goodreads. Honestly...this book has multiple 5 star reviews. HOW?! These reviews absolutely have to be from people who are ether illiterate or never actually read the book. Maybe sympathetic reviews by friends and family. Ether way... this book is pretty bad. Like others I question if this is AI generated or not.
Alexander is sent into exile on his eighteenth birthday , instead of being shocked he is delighted , he has memories and talents from his previous incarnation that he had kept secret and his one desire was to escape his family , he is a free spirit and wants to serve nobody , this starts the rollercoaster that Alexa life becomes , already started book two of this terrific series.
The first impression of the MC is that he is a self centered asshole - but then the story slowly shows the world he lives in and we see that he has to be this way to survive in this environment. Interesting world building, nice social interactions and cultural specialties. I like the friends and enemies he makes.
it’s interesting, but subsequent books aren’t on KU
Deserves 3.5 stars. I don’t think I would have spent time reading this book, if I’d know it’s the only one in the series on KU. The story plot is interesting, but the characters lack depth. The writing is good, but not great…. As the reader, you never become “part” of the story.
I really enjoyed this book. The author is really close to being very good. The biggest issue for me is that he can't seem to quite cash in completely on each pivotal moment. It's like telling a funny joke but the timing is just a little off. There are so many points in the book where there should be a big payoff to a situation that has built up but it misses to hit big.
Not bad. Kind of lagged with the story line. Main characters were a little boring but story was kept interesting to keep read with the monsters and side kicks. They were more interesting than the main character. I would read the rest of the story line if it was in my Kindle Unlimited.
