I've been doing IF for sometime, but here are some brilliant NEW ideas
I like intermittent fasting, but I'd sort of reached a plateau or something where I wasn't really losing any additional weight; I wasn't gaining, but... And I've read enough of the scientific literature to write my own book. What I didn't have, and what this book provides, was an approach to maximize IF in a healthy and happy way. I actually just read about a doctor who discovered a female patient wasn't burning fat for fuel until 36 hours in to her fast. I suspected I might be in a similar situation because my health issues were similar to this woman's. But, 36 hours????? How could I possibly fast for that long? Thanks to Caitlin Collins, now I know. So simple, but so smart. Haven't started my new regime, but I've got a great feeling and will report back either way.
I've just started intermittent fasting and I saw this book. I'm glad I bought it because it's given me some good ideas of little tweaks that I can do. I just finished my third day of fasting so tomorrow I will put some of her ideas to work on the eating day. She suggest starting out with the 5-2 fasting but since I hadn't read her book prior I've been doing the every other day fasting. So far I am OK with it. If you want to try any of the programs of intermittent fasting I highly recommend this book.
It's a nice read for summarizing various forms of IF, and helping the reader create an IF program customized for him or her. If you are interested in intermittent fasting, however, I recommend starting with a book that will provide a little more information about the science and potential benefits of the IF lifestyle. Two good choices are Bert Herring's "AC: The Power of Appetite Correction" and "The Secrets of Intermittent Fasting," by Malik Johnson. I found those to be informative and motivational. Then go through Collins' book for some practical ideas before you start your plan.
Much of this information I could have gotten online, however this book has it all organized and put into simple, easy to follow steps. Also, I liked the author's personal insight and experience as well as the various options provided. I found this helpful and already completed my first 500 calorie fast. (There were a few typos, so perhaps the author could proofread once more and re-submit)
If you're interested in intermittent fasting and would like a super quick introduction, then this is a great intro. I had no idea there were so many different ways to do intermittent fasting, so it was great for me.
Now I've got a greater idea of what I want to do and how to do it.
Plus she has great links to other IF books for additional reading.
No idea there were so many forms of Intermittent Fasting! This is a great guide to choosing one (or combining 2 or 3) to find the method that will work best for you. I have been IF’ing for 3 years and needed a little mental boost. This book did. I will recommend it to anyone who asks me about IF.
Really liked this book. Provides all the details to get started quickly. It gives just enough science and the authors real life experiences with IF. Perfect for my needs.
At last! A real person's review of what ADF is, how to do it, what to expect, how to tweak it to make it work for you, and the author's personal results! This is what I've been looking for in all of the books I've read. I don't need any more scientific reasons for doing this diet or why it works. I just needed verification that my own conclusions were correct and will finally work for me. My sincere thanks to the author for her work in providing an excellent and succinct book.
