I most often compare my work to Twilight meets 50 Shades (my vampires in Cora's Choice are more dark and angsty, and the S/M elements grow more and more pronounced as the series progresses), but the names that readers most often mention are Anne Rice and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
In Cora's Choice, Cora's Bond, and the following series, I wanted to show a heroine's journey from ordinary girl to someone super tough. This is a journey of months--years, even. So many stories start with an Anita Blake-type, able to kick ass and take names from the first we meet her. I thought it would be awesome and really interesting to show someone becoming that person through tiny changes that build on each other.
My world puts a different twist on everything from vampires (they're alive) to elves (aliens) and demons (interdimensional djinn). The Alpha's Captive series features a kickass heroine out of the gate, while Cora's Choice series--followed my Cora's Bond and others--has my "big" character story line.
Yes, there's an HEA. :) But the story keeps going on!

Same review posted to all parts of this serial.
Since this is a serial and I more or less read all the books in one sitting, I'm reviewing these books as one. All the books follow wolf shifter Levi and Harper, his voluntary hostage. Levi never really kidnapped Harper, she kidnaps herself. He steals her car and seeing as much as she loves the car, she jumps into the car while Levi is driving away.
The characters have good chemistry and hit it off from the very first page. Both Harper and Levi are a little dense as none of them ever consider their phones having GPS that can be tracked. It's something I saw from the very beginning, and it annoyed me that it never dawned on them even though the bad guys kept finding them time and time again. Seriously, how stupid can these characters get? I kept shaking my Kindle in hopes to shake some sense into these characters. True fax.
Levi and Harper kept putting themselves in these crazy situations that made me want to smack them upside their heads. There is a lot of drama and even more action in this story. At times it gets to be a little too much. It's that “too much” that pushes the books into annoying at times. An engaging story, though I'm not completely happy with how the story ended. It feels unresolved. Open ended.

Finally got some decent information on both characters! I was quite pleased with this one. Just enough of love, action, and plot twists to make it enjoyable. I'm interested in how this is all going to end. I feel like the author won't ruin it but I'm still a little anxious. The only thing that kind of bothered me was how many grammatical errors there were in this one. Usually the books have been pretty good but this once really stood out. Otherwise everything has been great!

This is the 5th part in this serial novella series. This means you must read them in order to understand what is going on. The whole serial is published, so waiting which is always a plus :) Adults only as there are some extremely steamy adult parts ;)
There is more action in this one than the last book, but most of this book was more Levi/Harper issues. Wow is all I can say, but you have to read it to see what I mean :) I’m hoping for a HEA ending :) Also Beane makes an appearance in this book if you have been reading the Taken by the Panther serial, you know who I mean :)

For keeps. This was a great continuation to the story. Harper is falling hard for Levi, and well, Levi' s heart never had a chance when it came to Harper. They're in it for keeps, now.
We get more of Beane in this episode. All of his quarks are on display, and my mind's had a great time conjuring up a wickedly brilliant geeky paranoid Adonis.
This episode leaves us with a bit of a cliffhanger. I always look forward to reading Black' s books. I definitely recommend this series for those who love shifter paranormal novellas.

There is a reason why V.M. Black is one of my favorite authors. She writes awesome BBW/Werwolf Romance stories that are addictive, enthralling, and supremely well-written. They are steamy, sexy, and thought provoking and stay with you long after you finish reading them. The characters are great with real flaws, real strengths, and real passion. She grabs hold of you at the captivating cover and keeps you imprisoned until the very end. The Alpha's Captive series is exciting, heartbreaking, and sexy with some twists and turns you didn't see coming.

Harper and Levi seem to be having a hard time with everything. just when they think they are safe. they got to get back on the road. going hunting for something eels so they can be free. well at least they got one thing out....Harper is Levi's.....this should be good

Levi and Harper made it to Chay's layer and find out that he is on the most wanted and that he kidnapped Harper. After finding out that Chay can't get the information off it and he needs the encryption box. Levi has to go back to Mortenen's house and find the box that is the size of a toaster. Now Levi has to find a way to get this without getting caught.

Levi had been running hot and cold with Harper and she wants answers. Levi tells her that it is all or nothing and he wants her. After finding out the SD card is encrypted, Levi and Harper must flee the mountain to look for a toaster shaped box to use to decrypt the stolen SD card.

Although this series is enjoyable I definitely don't like it as much as the Cora's Choice/Bond serial.
