Author's Note: This novella is no longer available. I combined all of the Dumont Diaries novellas into a standalone novel, which was rewritten, expanded, and retitled as Trophy Wife.

He watches me. Watches as my husband makes me submit, makes me do things that, even in their depravity, bring me pleasure. He knows what I like, and how I like it. But while Nathan dominates my body, Drew is interested more in my soul.

I can only bend so far before I break. Drew is my crack, my weak point around which everything else splinters. Even as more secrets are unveiled and all of the signs point to danger, I roll farther into this world. Into this high-brow life, into both of their beds.

But to what end? At this point, I don’t know what’s in more danger: my heart or my life. For these men, these two men who I am pushed and pulled between? They seem to be much more interested in my death than they ever were my life.

Till Death is a novella, approximately 55 pages, and was book 3 of a 4-part series.

"I believe, with all of the rules involved in my life, that my heart should have some. It shouldn't be allowed to care for a man who is incapable of loving it back."

"My heart, like the rest of my body, doesn't like to follow rules."

4 Stars!

Alessandra Torre sure knows how to twist my mind and make me beg for more answers. The mystery in this novel continues to bug me and kind of affect me in a sick yet good way. There was certainly a lot of revelations here. Still, I want more!

What stunned me the most here was the opening paragraph. It was kind of a plot twist and a shocker. I believe there is really more into this complicated situation Candy is in and that's the thing that keeps this novella series more intriguing. In this part, I've seen some huge development when it comes to Candy's character. I loved how she didn't just sit around waiting for nothing but instead she decided to find out what's really going on in the Dumont house. I want to applaud her for that!

"This is my life. My Worth. My sanity."

This was yet another great novella for this series. More intrigues came around and oh, I also hinted some romantic development between Nathan and Candy. Not quite sure if Nathan is for her, or Drew, but I hope the last novella will answer it.

★★★★★! The Dumont Diaries, Part 3 of 4. DECEPTION – DISCOVERY – FEAR – TRUTH – HEARTACHE & WANT!

My visible review is written to contain less details than book blurb. Please click on spoilers for more details.

“I got the memo, ,” I interrupt him crossly. “You don’t love me. Aren’t going to love me. I hear it loud and clear. A fucking cuddle session isn’t going to change that.”

The Dumont Diaries consists of 4 novellas, which must be read in order:
Part 1: To Have
Part 2: To Hold
Part 3: Till Death
Part 4: Do Us Part

Her salvation from a life as an in-debt stripper has come in the form of a mysterious stranger. But as Candy settled into her new lifestyle, she was quickly hit by boredom, then by loneliness causing her to seek solace…

Till Death (part 3) brings discovery and fear followed by the crushing truth. The one thing Candy wants she can’t have! What is she to do?

 photo TorreDumontDiaries1-4HeroinebySueBee_zps1d09f9c8.jpg

Six words to describe Candy: Despondent, desperate, reflective, endearing, lost and flawed.

The hero is a to-die-for enigmatic, rich, jaded playboy, but also cold, distant and rude! And yes I want him too! If you must know more, please click on spoiler:

Part three also ends abruptly leading right to part 4, Do Us Part for the conclusion of their story. Excellent storytelling! Interesting and captivating plot! Memorable, fascinating and addictive hero! I am highly recommending this 4-part serial! So far a 6-star read! Thanks Ms. Torre!

“And even if it is fake, even if it is for another , I want it. Badly.”

"I feel like I am a cocktail of sorts, different mixers and alcohol being added, the flavor and consistency changing with each new addition."-Candy

description

Till Death is the third book in the Dumont Diaries Series. To say these characters have consumed my thoughts for the past 48 hours would be quite the understatement. With each page turn, I have been more invested in Candy's plight. I am dying to know what will happen next.

Candy has suspicions that Nathan's motive in marrying her is less than honorable. Although she is sexually consumed by him, she knows there is no room for love. Additionally, she has sought comfort from Drew.

"I don’t even know if it can be considered a triangle, the three points of us all so badly contorted, our emotions and lives too gnarled to have something so simple as a point."-Candy

We have seen Candy transform from a stripper, to a polished socialite, into what she is now. The outcome is unknown.

"Nathan and I have emotional expression in our kisses, our lips able to communicate in ways that we will never be able to verbally. Drew’s kiss is so different."-Candy

Not one of these men can be trusted.

Nathan's hard exterior begins to crack when Candy finds out the truth. Although the truth doesn't alter her situation much, it has shifted the power to her. Now that she understands the reasons behind this entire charade, she makes her own demands be known.

“The rules are out the window. You know that, you knew that the minute that I told you about the money; hell, your eyes lit up like a neon sign. You have power now, you could have told him no. Things are different now.”-Drew

I will say that up to this point, I have not cared for Nathan or Drew. I think Nathan fulfilled Candy's sexual needs but wasn't able to give her love. I feel like Drew has tried to give Candy comfort and yet, he doesn't fulfill her the way that Nathan can. Either way, sex without love can only sustain a person for so long. As the plot unfolds, I began to feel love for Nathan. As we understand the reasons behind his actions, we can forsee a sliver of hope for Candy and Nathan to work things out.

"This time, as his cock thrusts, as our eyes lock and our bodies move as one, my wall crumbles down. In this moment, he takes my heart as well as my body."-Candy

description

Will Candy be able to break down the barriers around Nathan's heart? What happens to Candy if SHE returns?

Overall, I cannot say enough about this entertaining series. The darkness between Nathan and Candy is like an exotic dance. You don't want it to end. The tension you feel for the characters in the book is heightened by the emotional growth taking place throughout. I can only hope that Candy and Nathan and Drew will get a well deserved HEA! Bravo Ms Torre!

All the cards are on the table, and now we're barreling toward a conclusion...

He is a sickness. [...] A virus that I cannot combat. Despite his incredible talent at being an asshole, I want his touch, want his approval. I want a cure but fear I would hesitate to take the medication.
Not only do we know all the sordid details of how Candace came under Nathan's attention, we also have all of the motives behind the deception...

Things are getting serious (and seriously sexy) as we get ready for the final installment of the Dumont Diaries, and I am loving every minute of this twisted fantasy that Alessandra Torre has given us!

“You don’t love me. Aren’t going to love me. I hear it loud and clear.”

This arrangement is all sorts of twisted, and along the way lines are getting blurred, at least for Jennifer (aka Candy’s POV) between their outings where they play the part of a loving devoted couple, and their moments alone, she can’t help but wonder why he can’t be the man who he shows on the outside and why he keeps pushing her aside. All she wants is some companionship, someone to show they care and the more time she is left alone her curiosity gets the best of her and has her uncovering some secrets she isn’t ready to hear…
I can live my golden life, squash the ridiculous theories that my mind has been concocting in my spare time, and follow Nathan’s rules. Ride his cock, obey his rules, and deal with the minor items that separate this life and Happily Ever After.

Till Death is seriously gonna be the death of me, I mean What. The. Fuck. was that, if I thought Nathan was an ass in the last one, he just moved into being the king of all asshats in this one...and for Candy, I don’t know if I should pity her or smack her, granted she has reasons to stay BUT seriously have some pride woman! One more book to go and I swear I don’t know where the hell this is headed but it better be good!

Well this installment was so much better than the first two. We're finally getting somewhere with Candace & Nathan's relationship and the reasons why Nathan is such a closed off asshole. Things that both, Candy & Nathan are doing, are driving me insane. I can not wait to see what the heck happens, I'm not sure if this will be a HEA or what, I just am hoping for the best- ha. So much has to happen however the author shocked me yet again with the turn of events in this book. On to the final book.......

Finally, the reason that Nathan is so closed off comes to light. Only, instead of being endeared to him, I dislike him even more! They probably could have just told her what they wanted from the beginning and she would have done it in exchange for her father's medical care. I guess that wouldn't have made the ex-girlfriend jealous or provided a 24/7 booty call for Nathan and company though. Despite all of this, she's pining for him still! Argh!

5--And the Plot Thickens--Stars!!

Well, well, well....

This shit is getting good!

So we have a love triangle of sorts going on now....CandyJennifer is still in search of answers as to why she was the "chosen wife". She sneaks in to Nathan's office only to discover that he's ?????

So...turns out there was a little mis-communication. Nathan doesn't exactly want to his wife. But Mr. Dumont's plans are quite devious...and I was not expecting that. And frankly it kind of pisses me off. I don't want there to be another .

But I am

to know what is going on.

Will Nathan be able to pull off his plan?? What will happen when CandyJennifer makes a few of her own rules? Lines are starting to get a little blurry!

CandyJennifer isn't going to go down without a fight!

Shit just got a little intense!

Jenny (Candy) is growing suspicious of Nathan's intentions but she has a plan on trying to gain information. When an attraction that was unexpected occurs, it offers her a glimpse into Nathan's plan. But what she finds might not be what she expected.

Okay - so this story just took on a whole other level of intensity. Not only are we still getting the callous Mr. Dumont that has been nothing short of a sex-god, but we get a little bit of Drew too - the man that has watched as her and Nathan have *coughs* been intimate.

But that's not it - we get get more. We get a shock of a lifetime. So many twists and turns that everything you were expecting to happen just flies out of the window.

This is not a serial series... This should just be called what it is... CRACK.

But we finally get some answers and with knowledge comes power, something Jenny has not had much of until now.

Where to start?

First- this series is a thing of beauty. Period. I am not going to discuss what is happening as it would spoil your experience. What I am going to tell you is this:

Have you ever checked to see where you are in the book- either feeling the thickness of the pages or percentage of the ebook left till it is done? There are 2 reasons why I do that; either I am so not into the book and need to see how much is left to get through

or

I am so in love, taken, involved and panting I need to see if there is more or do I still have more coming because I do not want it to end.

This series had me so nervous that I just didn't want to be left chapter after chapter. Checking became compulsive because the crafting of this segment just kept leading you to think -ok - she( Ms. Torre) is going to leave it there... no wait, what, OMG!

I also have not addressed the beauty of the word pictures Ms. Torre paints. To start quoting would be satisfying for me but I really love this so much, I want to give you the pleasure of experiencing them for yourself.

Please start this series from the begining, drink from the wine and become intoxicated with us.
The last segment will be here before you know it.

And the plot thickens...

The beginning had me freaking out a bit and became suspicious of Nathan and Drew. Just like Candy, I wanted to know what was going on. I wasn't sure who could be trusted. Candy gets creative and finds a way to get more information out of both Drew and Nathan which ultimately leads him into telling her his master plan.

I'm still feeling a bit skeptical as to how this is going to end. I'm still no closer to deciding if I'm rooting for Nathan or Drew.

Off to read the fourth and final book in this mini series.....

FIVE INCREDIBLE STARS

“He watches me — watches as my husband makes me submit, makes me do things that, even in their depravity, bring me pleasure. He knows what I like and how I like it. But while Nathan dominates my body, Drew is interested more in my soul.”

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

When I think this couldn't get any better........
This novella gave me more pleasure than any other 500 pages book I usually read!

Wow.... I have to admit that I am completely and utterly in love with Candy. She's one hell of a character! She's honest and brave and pure in her way. I actually can't believe myself getting so attached with a former stripper/ho character in a book but this author is really can build a flawed loveable one.

I cried with her, laughed with her, happy for her, and broke my heart for her.

This book picks up what left on book two. When I start to read the blurb I feel betrayed. And oh what a ride... everything's I believe turns out go into another direction. I can not say a lot without spoiling the story but I guarantee that o far book three is the best!

I NEED BOOK FOUR LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!

'Till Death' is part 3 of the 'Dumont Diaries' mini series.

Candace seeks solace in the arms of another man . She is still searching for answers to why she was chosen to be Nathan's wife & what she finds out is not what she was expecting.

At first, Candace believes that Nathan & Drew are plotting to kill her & discovers that her husband is has been using her as bait to get his ex back. Candace decides she has had enough & changes the rules of the game. She will help Nathan lure out his beloved in exchange for his continual financial support for her sick father.

“He is my jailor as much as Nathan. He, like Nathan, seems entitled to sample from my body - but offers nothing in return.”

“I got the memo, Nathan,” I interrupt him crossly. “You don’t love me. Aren't going to love me. I hear it loud and clear. A fucking cuddle session isn't going to change that.”

While on their trip to the Bahamas, Candace asks Nathan for one thing & one thing only, two nights of spending the night in his bed. What Candace has been fighting for has finally lashed back & she realizes that she has given Nathan not her body, but her heart as well. She has fallen for a man that will never love her in return.

“In this moment, he takes my heart as well as my body.”

Shocking revelations. A great mind fuck of a story. The game is changing & feelings are beginning to come to surface. Another great read & looking forward to reading the final part to this amazing mini series.

HOOO-LEEEE CRAP!!!

Who knew?! Who. Freaking. KNEW?!?!?! I sure as heck didn't see any of this coming. The twist is major.

Nathan's secrets are out. Candy/Jennifer finally found out the truth thanks to her stealth-like spy skills, well, rummaging through Nathan's desk! lol Oh and that thing with Drew? Yea - shit is going to be hitting the fan after Nathan and Candy/Jennifer get back from the Bahamas. Oh and the whole thing going on in the Bahamas? Yea, I think I owe Nathan an apology. *cringe* I hate to say it but (in a whisper...) I kinda like him now only because I get it. There are so many shit storms brewing that my head is spinning! GAWD and the sex scenes are HOT!

Damn Alessandra, you can write a book girl!!! I'm hyperventilating, mad, sad, mumbling out loud to my Kindle like a damn schizophrenic, and DAMN IT my heart strings are being pulled!!! And against the hero I hated in books 1, 2 and almost all of 3! Gaaah! Book 4 is going to bring it, I just know it!!!

Again, I LOVE THIS STORY!!!

And another shocker that gave me a small heart attack!

Okay, so now I've finally got a clue. I'm just not 100% sure how I feel about that yet.

Candy goes through some crazy stuff before the motivations behind this whole twisted arrangement are revealed. Throughout the book she struggles to figure out what's happening, why, and what she should do in this scenario where she's giving herself sexually to two men (not at the same time ;) who she doesn't know much about or what their true intentions are.

She comes into some information that raises the alarms big time. Candy finally demands answers upon threat of destroying her contract and damn the consequences. In a situation that has been confusing, demeaning and even frightening, Candy learns she actually does have power which allows her to challenge the rules in this game.

So here's where I have some issues:

I find it hard to believe that He humiliated her, controlled her, was cold, cruel, distant, and punishing. Yes, he supposedly had his moments where she saw 'something deeper' or the potential of what he could be, but overall, this was a man who treated her like crap. During that time, he never explained or apologized even as he surrounded her with the finer things in life and pretty much just treated her like his personal whore (which technically she was).

Now I get that there's something about him she just can't resist, that she can't say no to, and that all that stuff implies in the future that he is her one. Uh-huh.

Right now, I couldn't care less because I don't believe in it or the potential of them as a couple yet. This sudden 180 degree shift in his personality is unsettling and I don't buy it. A man who could treat a woman the way he did for the reasons he gave is not book boyfriend material for me. He could have handled that whole situation differently, and treated her as a person of worth rather than a commodity, possession and pawn. Yeah, there wouldn't have been the same messed up story, but hey, it's just how I feel.

The sex is off the charts but that's not enough for me. His apology is given with an explanation that doesn't work for me. Would she have ever received one if she didn't now hold a few of the cards in her hands? There's a lot at stake for him here so it makes me wonder. Right now, I don't like or trust him. He hasn't earned that yet, never mind his smiles, charm, money or good looks. You can find a psychopath with all those things in play - doesn't mean you should dive into any kind of a relationship with him.

So I guess it's not surprising that this really bothered me:

Candy is really annoying me and I've lost a lot of respect for her in this book. It feels like she's confusing great sex and physical chemistry with love. Her analogy of him being a sickness that she doesn't want a cure for feels about right and not in a good way. I can't help but ask what the hell she's fallen in love with when he's been such a prick to her for most of the time she's known him? Really?

Well, what can I say? The story is interesting though I'm not impressed with either Nathan's or Candy's behaviour or choices. Still, I've invested the time and money so I want to know how it ends even though I sense the road to irritation ahead...

The thing is that I acknowledge that real people do play mind games, do fall for the wrong people, do take more garbage than they deserve, do put themselves into situations they know aren't good for them and also tell themselves that things will change while wallowing in the land of denial. So it's not like this is unrealistic, at least, on that level.

It's just so not romantic for me.

*sigh*

Ah well. Book 4 awaits. Let's see how this strangely intriguing, irritating, twisted ride concludes...

Jennifer Dumont, from the famous Dumont Shipping family, perished in a fire on Saturday, the cause unknown as of press time. Nathan Dumont, the notorious playboy who has made his own millions in residential development, spoke on behalf of the family. “I loved Jennifer more than I have ever loved another soul on this planet. Her death leaves a hole in my heart that will never be filled.” The Dumonts have been plagued with tragedy for the last decade; the elder Dumonts killed in a plane accident six years ago. In lieu of flowers, Nathan Dumont has asked that donations be made in Jennifer’s name to the Red Cross, a charity that the young beauty held close to her heart.

Drew tells her why she’s in Nathan’s house, why she was picked to be his wife, and the reasons behind the way that they live together. With this new information in hand Candy finds herself in a perfect spot to negotiate with Nathan. The problem is she wants the one thing he’s not willing to give, the one thing that he’s left with Cecile, his heart. With their trip fast approaching and the deadline for Candy’s leverage approaching faster, she decides that she wants to fight for Nathan’s heart.
He is my jailor as much as Nathan. He, like Nathan, seems entitled to sample from my body - but offers nothing in return.

Their trip out of the country shows a new side to Nathan and gives hope to the possibility of a different future for the two. This comes crashing down around Candy in the last few pages of the story. The ending for this one definitely left me hurting for Candy and left me angry with both Drew and Nathan. There better be some serious redemption happening in the next book!
