Whew! 🔥This spicy RH novel has it all… multiple points of view, a strong FMC, and steamy romance scenes with multiple love interests! The author doesn't skimp on the details, and the chemistry between the characters is palpable. If you're looking for something to make you blush, you've found it.

But "New Nebraska Home" isn't just an RH book. It's a full-blown supernatural adventure! There is a fascinating blend of fae, vampires, and shifters and great world-building. The plot is fast-paced and packed with twists and turns, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Each character has distinct personalities and backstories, making them more than just love interests.

I quite enjoy this world. It’s interesting watching the author set up the pieces through the separate but intersecting stories and the ways the new political landscape will affect everyone. Liz was a fun example of your stereotypical no-nonsense midwestern character and the men were all swoony, protective and, sweet.

This was a charming read! The cast had a ton of heart, and Brock has a special place in mine as resident goofball. All too often we see protagonists' home lives take a back seat to world ending catastrophes, and I'm happy that wasn't the case here. This book felt lived in, and I'm very happy I read it!

New Nebraska Home took me a bit by surprise. The first book in the series took place in a city with a college as its backdrop, and the story was lighter. This story has a darker tone. I liked the Southern feel—the language and mannerisms. However, there were also deep prejudices. At first, it was humans with prejudices against supernaturals, however, when Nebraska was designated as the only place non-fae supernaturals could live, it flipped. Most humans moved out of the small, dusty town where this takes place, and a cult disguised as a religious organization called the Temple moved in, causing all kinds of trouble.


Liz as an MFC was normal, but not in a bad way. She's just trying to raise her little half-fae brother and keep her family home, but things are never easy. I enjoyed that a very human Liz stood up to the supernaturals trying to bully her out of town. And she has three great guys to back her up. The romance was good. The guys won me over with the way they treated her seven-year-old little brother, and I think it's what won Liz over too. The plot was better than the romance. Hate crimes that escalate, a creepy organization, characters that give off strong villain vibes, and one heck of a twist. I enjoyed this one; my only wish is that Cara developed one more idea; it would have added to the story. If you're looking for a slightly darker small-town read with why choose and paranormal aspects, then this is a good read.

This book took me by surprise. I really enjoyed this read and felt that the romance came together nicely and was well balanced with the plot. I would consider this book a real page turner. Around every corner there was something else happening that you weren't expecting. My only wish was a bit more of that in between build up in the romance. I felt like the relationship became physically intimate, and then they were willing to die for each other and say that they loved each other. I would've liked a bit more background of friendship between the characters and get to explore more of how how they all fit together. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it! I also loved the bi awakening! Can't wait to read more by this author.

This book had the perfect amount of adventure, as well as the characters getting the love they deserve. My only qualm would be that I wish it was longer!

This book takes place 10 years before the other New Nebraska books and gives us a little more backstory in terms of how things truly began.

The men were OBSESSED! Definitely a page turner and fits perfectly into the world already created by Cara B King.

I read the prequel New Nebraska Lessons and thought this was a continuation of that book. However, this book is an entirely new group of people. That isn't a problem, it just threw me off for a minute.

Liz decides to stay in her family home in 'New Nebraska' in order to give her brother some semblance of a decent life. Her brother is half fae so a lot of people don't understand him. But when her boss tells her he sold the business she has to take to renting out rooms in their home. When she invites a Master Vampire, a water elemental and a dragon shifter into her home all hell breaks loose. Can Liz keep her brother safe when the town goes crazy? Does she fall for her three roommates? Do they all survive?

I absolutely loved this book. It was extremely well written and thought out. The characters were easy to fall in love with as well. I loved the thought put into this book. I can't wait to continue this series and hope it isn't as long as this book. The wait was well worth it but seemed really long.

I absolutely loved being back in this world. Liz and her boys were on fire. I loved how we got to know each character and how the relationship between each of them and together developed.

I totally ate this book up and read it in one day. As always with paranormal mates the boys were so gone for Liz and the group scene were electric.

Leif was the cutest little addition to the story and every one was so protective of him which was perfect! I'm all for a protective MMC.

I can't wait for more stories set in this world.

I really enjoyed the mix of romance and fantasy. There was a lot of spice and it was written well. Usually when reading a reverse harem, one of the partners sticks out to me more than the others but the three men seemed well balanced and all complimented Liz in a different way. The bond they had with Liz’s brother was so sweet. I loved getting all their pov and seeing their powers first hand. It had a little bit of suspense, action, and was a quick read.

If you're after an extremely spicy, reverse harem, paranormal romance then this is definitely worth a look.

Liz is a fantastic FMC and I really enjoyed her relationship with her little brother, and the three guys who started as just rending out spare rooms, to becoming her new found family. I especially enjoyed the interactions between the three men as their budding relationship was kinda cute.

There's even a pretty decent plot along with the spice, showing that sadly prejudice can occur among any species, not just humans, but also that love can transcend species too.

If you enjoy supernatural stories this is definitely one you'll love, especially, and I do mean especially, if you also like some spiciness. 


New Nebraska is supposed to be a place where supernaturals can just be. Unfortunately, not everyone is included in that idea. Liz, who is a human taking care of her halfling brother, deals with prejudice against her and her family, moreso after she gets three new supernatural roommates. Liz and her roommates become family and stand up to protect not only Liz and her brother, but their home.


Now I'm not going to give away any of the fun sexy parts. You'll have to read New Nebraska Home and discover them for yourself, but I can tell you you won't be disappointed!

This is book one of the New Nebraska series and the main character is human Liz, who lives with her little brother Lief, who is a halfling, half human, half fae. Her state has now become a home for paranormals after recent turf wars between vampires and wolf shifters, which was settled by the fae, leading to her home becoming a holding pen for supes and most humans taking advantage of the governments generous resettlement awards, such as her sister, to leave town asap. Lief has faced discrimination in their small town and Liz doesn’t believe that matters will necessarily be any better if they left and moved to a big city, full of bigoted humans. Her home has been in their family for generations and it gives her a roof over their heads and no mortgage to pay. She has her job, or at least she did until her boss called and said he was offered a huge sum to sell it to some shifters, to be turned into a gym, and there went her job! Luckily, the house is quite big, so she advertises for some tenants, with all she has seen so far, not passing Leif’s judgement. Somehow, he can tell whether someone is good or bad and he is using his ability to tell her if any of them are any good. It isn’t until vampire master Cal (Callum) McCoy and his friend Brock Rivers, a water elemental, come looking for rooms, that Lief gives his immediate approval, even before they managed to get through the door! Brock is completely distracted by Liz’s looks and misses out on most of what she says, whilst Cal is still smarting from separating from his coven of vamps years ago. Brock fancies his best friend, but has idea if he feels the same, since he was last with a woman, but seeing Liz, Brock reckons he might fancy a woman this time round! When Liz hugs them both once they sign the lease, Brock feels a shot of power rush through him, which disappeared as soon as she moved away.

Liz still needs to find a new job, but all of the adverts are mainly for paranormals, as all the businesses are beign overtaken by them. One ad is for blood servers, and she asks Cal what that means, while she thinks it is some sort of waitress job, and she couldn’t be further from the truth of it. Leif finds a great playmate in Brock, who acts silly and young at heart, whilst also showing Leif his water magic. Liz wonders about the relationship between Cal and Brock and if they are partners as well as friends but can’t figure out how to ask. A knock at the door brings a young female shifter, who is looking to recruit new members to something called the Temple, a place for like minded people and a hoe of purity and prosperity! After the discovery of paranormals amongst humans and the turf wars that followed, causing discord with humans and the paranormals being corralled into Nebraska, unable to leave, some amongst them want to enforce purity and separation of different kinds of paranormals! With Liz now having two different types living with her, as well as her half Fae brother, they are certainly not the pure bloodlines this visitor is looking to recruit. The woman tells Liz that she should leave, as in leave town and her home! The woman then makes further comments about half breeds being abominations and that their den of immoral wickedness is not what they want in this town. Liz is enraged, but she has Cal and Brock defending her and acting all protective on her behalf! When she and Leif are out at the store getting supplies, she meets the horrible woman again and this time she is baiting her, waiting for a reason for her fellow pack members to come to her assistance and make an example of Liz and Leif! As their exit gets blocked and more shifters surround them, it is the sight of the defenceless Leif that draws the eye of a passing motorcyclist, Malik, a shifter of a rare kind, who was badly treated as a child himself and can’t stand to see kids picked on.

The leader of the wolf pack is a poor excuse of an alpha and is quickly put in his place by Malik’s superior beast and power, something the wolf should have been able to sense. Once he sorts the issue and the wolf shifters disperse, he asks Liz for suggestions for somewhere to stay and Leif pipes up that he can come and stay at their house! Something about Liz has Malik agreeing to come and stay with them, even before he sees the room or knows what it might cost. Malik takes to Leif easily, a different side of him showing a softness that is quite unexpected. As Malik and Brock play with Leif in the pool, Cal helps Liz learn about what some of the job adverts really mean and they get quite worked up, until Brock walks in. He escapes to the basement, not wanting to see Liz and Cal together, whilst both are in his fantasies every night. Cal comes to check on him and they find out that Cal might be interest in him as well as Liz and he returns the feelings. They also have a third male, with Malik, in the mix and need to see what this will bring. Malik notices that he feels much stronger and his other senses are much increased. He wonders if this means his family could be close by, a family he was taken from as a child. More trouble comes to Liz’s home, as attacks start to ramp up and the local police have been replaced by paranormals, mostly connected to this Temple, who don’t treat her or Leif well. The connections between Liz and the three men quickly ramp up and she finds herself attracted to all of them, which is unexpected for her, as well as the relationship between Cal and Brock also flourishing romantically. Each of them is getting stronger and there is a hidden secret in relation to Liz that comes out to some extent as the story continues. Together, they have formed their own little family and none of them will allow anyone to attack Leif or Liz. Matters will come to a head, with a malicious figurehead at the Temple coming for people like Leif, and also knowing somehow, just exactly what Liz truly is. This evil figurehead wants to use one of her men as a patsy for his actions, but Liz and her men won’t put up with this, if they can help it. They have a huge battle ahead, with danger coming for young Leif, as the Temple seems to be taking over most of the townsfolk and brainwashing them into action against anyone who is different!

A lovely start to the series and some great characters to get into, as this strange corralling of paranormals changes the small town Liz and her family have always lived in. I can’t wait to see more of what develops between them all and what happens with their powers. Young Leif gets to grow in his confidence with three huge male role models to help him, as well as a Fae connection to help with whatever abilities he may develop. A spicy read with lots of tension and nasty bullying behaviour against anyone who was a bit different, with assumptions being made about Liz and the men, even before they got together that way. I presume there will be a lot more to come from this found family and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Wow!!! What an awesome story! This mix of urban fantasy, reverse harem and paranormal romance and suspense was fantastic!!! And it’s only the prequel???

Liz (FMC) is so bad-ass…’just a human’ (whatever!!!.. or is she???😳😉🤗) has been defending her little brother, who is half fae, from bullies his whole life…now alone in her family home with him…with paranormals arriving in droves, the structure of her town and most towns around Nebraska breaking down as humans move out, she is struggling to survive. Having lost her job when the human business owners left the state, she reverts to what her granny did to survive years ago at their homestead, take in boarders.

Luckily her little brother seems to have a sixth sense about people, their intentions, good or evil…and when Brock, a water elemental, and Cal, a Master Vampire come looking for a room, Leif tells his sister that they are meant to stay. Then Liz and Leif are nearly mobbed at the local grocery store by a new group of purists and roaming shifter Malik comes to their rescue, and then becomes their third roommate.

As tensions rise in town and the threats against Liz and Leif escalate can their new friends help them keep safe? Are they just friends?

This story was wonderfully complex but also so easy to follow, fun and entertaining to read, with great suspense and action but also some cute comic relief and of course delightfully steamy🥰🥰🥰. What I also loved about it was the developing relationship between the 3 paranormals and Liz as well as them with Leif. This is a beautiful story about found family as well, those you choose to love and the power and comfort that love can bring you. It’s a great adventure that I really enjoyed going in with these characters!

I gave it four stars instead of five because it could have used 1 more round of editing but it wasn’t enough to annoy or detract from the story. Still an awesome read!.

Humans, Vampires, Wolf Shifters, Elementals, Fae, Witches, Dragon Shifters, can they all co-exist in one area and not cause issues?

Liz is a human (or is she) that has lived in Nebraska her whole life, in the house that has been in her family for generations. When the world realized that paranormal creatures were real the government relocated them to Nebraska and payed the humans to relocate as well. Liz refused to leave due to her baby brother being half fae (he could leave, but Liz didn’t want him to lose the only home he’s ever known, and she didn’t want him to have more problems with the human’s due to his pointy fae ears.) There was no way for Liz to know that by staying she was putting her brother and herself in more danger. When Callum (master vampire), Brock (water elemental) and Malik (dragon shifter) come into Liz and Leif’s home as boarders, things started changing.

This book was amazing. The ignorance of the paranormal, and even some humans that remained or relocated to New Nebraska had me wanting to punch somebody. I loved how Callum, Brock, and Malik accepted Liz and Leif for who they were, not only that, but they accepted each other for who they were. Callum and Brock were besties (lol) before coming to Nebraska, and Malik came to Nebraska looking for his family and they all took to being Leif and Liz’s protectors. I loved Liz’s fire too she didn’t just back down, she was polite when warranted, but when push came to shove she didn’t bow to the Temple members who were spewing hate in their direction. The ending of the book was AWESOME, bad guys never win ;) lol 🙂. I am going to recommend this book to all my friends and family no question.

I made the mistake of starting this book before bed one evening. Several hours later...

This is an absolutely gripping romance. Beautifully written, it's also so very real and timely in its undercurrents that I couldn't stop turning the pages. Issues of racism, classism and sexism are told via the discrimination between monsters and humans, while a genuinely gorgeous poly relationship blossoms between the protagonists.

None of the monsters seem typical either, because this world is just so real. Heroine Liz and her half-Fae little brother find a new family in their unusual house-share situation, and with a vampire to protects the family home while a dragon helps with the shopping and the water-elemental plays in the pool out back, the nosy religious neighbours find out they've bitten off more than they can chew!

Plus Liz isn't a fainting flower either. Badass enough to stay in her family home despite the 'monster relocation zone' that her community has become, she's clever and resourceful while everything you'd want to be when faced with idiotic conservatives at your door. Politics is part of life, and this is inspiring in its hope against the Us/Them attitudes creeping into formerly friendly neighborhoods.

I adored this and will absolutely be looking up the author for more of her work.

Liz and Her Men

“New Nebraska Home” is the first book I have read penned by Cara B. King. Where to start? Liz is an exceptional character. She tapped into her inner strength to care for her half Fae brother, Leif, in uncertain and difficult times. She turns to renting out rooms for income. Master vampire Callum, water elemental Brock, and dragon shifter Malik are all drawn to this human woman. Each of the men have very distinctive characteristics and abilities. Each main character has the opportunity to tell a part of the story from their point of view. It is wonderful to see this group come together to form a family. Liz and her men are fated mates. Their bedroom interactions are sexy, passionate, erotic, and smoking hot! The story is well paced as the reader learns about restrictions placed on paranormals. Interesting concept with so many different types of paranormals to base the story around and the possibilities for future stories is limitless. I definitely enjoyed this foray into the mind of Cara B. King, her characters are well written and they inhabit a well thought out world where they can exist and love. This is considered a reverse harem and is m/m/f/m. I am glad a took a chance on a writer I had never read before, I look forward to indulging in more stories from this series. Definitely recommended.

Fun and spicy RH paranormal romance

A great storyline with a sweet slow-build RH romance with 3 different paranormals (Vampire, water elemental and dragon shifter) who are all loyal, caring, romantic, grumpy and protective. Told from the POVs of all the main characters, the action is fast paced with mystery, murder, discovery, a cheeky young brother, plenty of humor, twists, romance and was easy and fun to read.

A prequel to New Nebraska Lessons, this is set ten years before, as New Nebraska becomes the new home for multiple paranormals with humans leaving the area. Liz's sister can't wait to leave but Liz doesn’t want to leave their family home, or her young brother who's a halfling fae. Struggling for money she offers their home to some lodgers and gets on well with the two friends who initially move in. But the new locals aren't being friendly or accepting of differences and after she and her brother are attacked she gains a third lodger.

I loved the dynamics between this group who are all drawn to each other and rally to support each other, working to protect Liz and her brother. I particularly loved Malick and his shifting abilities (a fierce dragon but one that can sit on your shoulder and wrap his tail round your neck).

What is more interesting than a sequel?
A prequel... that's right!

New Nebraska by Cara King is spice galore with a sensational story that will keep you turning pages. I was sucked in from the start and finished this racy goodness in one sitting. If you've read Cara's work, you'd know she writes RH romance. Her previous book was softer, but this one was raunchier and added a whole new element with MM titillation!

The story takes you in the past with Liz running the show with her little brother. She's fierce and doesn't shy away from rooming with supernatural beings. The forces at work between the lead characters is delicious, offering salacious scenes.

Cara's writing style is superb and lively. It blended very distinct characters admirably. The story is written in multiple first POV and progresses at a great pace. The ending left me craving for more. I am sure the author s working hard on delivering another instalment form this series.

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I was fascinated by the setting of this world. I loved the guys- Callum (vampire), Brock (water elemental), and Malik (dragon shifter)- and that they were each different types of paranormals. I also loved Liz and her little brother Leif. You get a sweet sense of found family. I loved the way the relationships between them develop and grow. The story also had danger, suspense, and prejudices. It was easy to get hooked to the story.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I would definitely read more. 5 stars

This is a page turning addition to the series and I read it in one go. I was totally hooked on the characters, world building and the changing tide of of societal norms as those with supernatural backgrounds are sent to live in New Nebraska 'for safety'. What comes with that is a prejudice to those fully human, as Liz is. She stayed behind because of her brother being a halfling... When she rents rooms in her family homestead for income, she ends up with three charming tenants. Malik, a dragon shifter, Callum, a master vampire and Brock, a water elemental. Expect to feel the heat between these four, with some bi awakening, and lots of suspense, danger, action, adventure as they work to protect her brother, themselves and the townspeople...and get their fab and steamy HEA. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this one so I definitely recommend :D

NEW NEBRASKA HOME is part of the New Nebraska Lessons series. This one takes place about 10 years earlier than others in the series. This was quite the spicy supernatural reverse-harem adventure. Liz is a sweet and sassy human raising her adorable half-fae 7 year old brother, Leif. She is a landlady trying to keep her family home, so she takes on some supernatural tenants, Malik, the fierce dragon shifter; Callum, the charming vampire, and Brock, the fun loving water elemental. But some want the humans out of the town, and she is not budging, even when she is in danger. Her hunky men will protect her and Leif. Things eventually get hot and steamy. This was such a fast-paced, fun supernatural adventure romance with hot chemistry and a happy ending after a lot of drama.

As a prequel to the New Nebraska series, it was an enjoyable read, the plot kept me interested and I enjoyed each of the characters. Liz and her brother Leif, whose half fae, decide to stay within her town to give Leif a better life among the supernaturals. The love interests: Cal the handsome vampire who loves peace and quiet, Brock the playful water elemental whose attracted to Cal and Malik the mysterious shifter whose always kept to himself.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Liz and each of her men and the small scenes which explore Cal's and Brock's attraction to each other. The spicy scenes were great between all of them too. Each of the characters felt like they had personalities and the pacing throughout was good.

It was a good read and can recommend it.
