Cute, cozy mystery that was a quick and easy read. I would have read in 1 day, but had to get some sleep. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to the next book in the series.

"'Embracing your true identity is how you get through this, darling,' Gina said softly"
Having to start over in a new country hasn't been easy as Sarah is finding out as she and her two daughters move into her Great Aunt Ethel's rundown cottage in the Cotswolds. Returning to the family village isn't the greatest, but it's all she has as her husband is under scrutiny in the States for a ponzi scheme. And that has also followed the three of them there.
She's able to find work and enrolled the kids in school and finds that the women of her family are considered witches with their abilities. Is this a good thing or a bad thing becomes the question when the two elderly neighbors die suspiciously. And Sarah needs to trust her gifts and her instincts to figure out.
This is a really good story however IMHO it's a wee bit too long. I liked that it was a cosy but I kept wondering when the answer would be coming. Recommended 4/5
[ Disclaimer: I received this book as an advanced copy from Book Sirens but in no way did it affect my reading or this review.]
Well this was a total 180 from the previous book I read (The Sinner). Even though it was about old grannies being murdered it was definitely a cozy murder mystery. I gave it three stars because it was a little too cozy for me, but that is also personal preference and I like things to be a little more grungy and raw. The fact that they could communicate with the ghost about who did it (and the ghost actually tells them) gave what little surprise and suspense there was away.
I won’t say it’s a light read because there are some darker themes to it, murder, kidnapping, adultery, but I thought it was a cute fun read that can be used as a palette cleanser for really dark books. On to book two!
Snap Spirit, Murder by Felicity Green is a whimsical and engaging story that blends themes of community, sisterhood, and self-discovery. The protagonist, Liv, is rebuilding her life after her husband, Steven, proves to be anything but the man she thought he was. Along with her two daughters, Liv returns to her hometown, where she uncovers a long-buried family secret while simultaneously trying to clear her name after being accused of murdering two elderly women.
Green’s writing is charming and full of warmth, with a touch of mystery and humor that keeps the story lively. The small-town setting and quirky cast of characters add depth and heart to the narrative, making it a delightful read for fans of cozy mysteries with a focus on family and resilience.

An excellent first in series with great worldbuilding, a captivating plot, delightful characters, and a lot of humour. I loved every single minute of it.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.
To be honest, it just wasn’t for me. I like the cozy mystery aspect, restarting life, and moving to England. The paranormal aspect was intriguing, but it lost me. I usually steer more towards historical or contemporary cozy mysteries, but the modern was too much for me. Had it been more focused on the mystery, not lost in the oddly specific weeds, it would’ve been for me.
Happy reading! 📖

I received an ARC of this book, which does not affect my review. Thank you to the author and Booksirens for the chance to read this book.
I mostly enjoyed my time with this book especially because I do not often read cozy fantasies! The cover was too much to ignore. I was immediately interested in the characters, the setting, and the mystery Liv would set out to try to solve given some quite interesting abilities on her part. Another thing I am interested in is a woman protagonist who is a mother! Most of the protagonists I have read lately, woman and man alike, have been younger. I liked that Liv is a mother who is dealing with very real but hard issues with her two daughters after her husband betrayed them by running a Ponzi scheme and living a secret life as a con-man. Horrible! Not only that, but he was also cheating on Liv. Liv is also dealing with a blow to her reputation because of her husband, which was so frustrating to read yet sadly realistic, how these things are blamed on the woman even if she was innocent! I like how the author immediately makes clear what was going on in Liv’s life while still leaving some things a mystery to be found out as the book goes on. Some of this was through Sarah (in the beginning), her friend from home, who I did not have a good impression of! She seemed very insensitive to what Liv was going through and even though maybe she was trying to help with her suggestions, she just seemed a little tone-deaf, but I that was the intent! I love it when authors can make you annoyed at a character right away. And there are no shortage of those types of characters in this book! Another honorable mention (or not so honorable) is Jason… eek! What a gross guy. Anyway, as for Liv, if fake “friends” aren’t enough, now Liv has a cottage she doesn’t know what to do with, no money to hire a lawyer for a divorce, daughters who are not too happy with her, and no clue what is next! But a cat shows up, and it seems to be the tiniest glimmer of hope. That was a very cute scene, which added to the coziness in what otherwise felt like more of a family drama to start. A little positivity in all the bad stuff Liv is dealing with, and…perhaps a signal of something more fantastical?
I overall enjoyed my time with this book, even if there were a few moments where I was craving more to happen, or there to be more forward momentum when things felt stalled. However, it is hard not to enjoy your time in the town as there is quite the vibe to it. The setting was well done and helped deepen the cozy vibe. There is also a cast of eclectic characters in Fairwyck, though not many of them are likable! Of course that makes the ones who are even more likable, like Liv our protagonist.
More than a fantasy this is more like a paranormal crime detective story. Some parts I had to suspend my disbelief for, like everyone’s involvement in assuming things about the murder or accusing innocent people of Liv’s seemingly chronic bad luck. She always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, although I guess she would not be the main character of this story if she weren’t caught up in all the drama, both from her husband and everything that happens in Fairwyck. I thought Liv’s ability was very unique and interesting, and it was what added the fantasy and paranormal element to the story. That was my favorite part though I sometimes did wish it was deepened a little bit. However, that is probably my epic fantasy side talking, and for the purposes of this story and the scope of the magic, I think it was done well. The writing was also easy to follow and it made the read go by quickly for me, which is a good thing!
All in all it is a sweet and cozy mystery with a nice ending that felt earned for Liv. I did have another favorite character who I am sad about but will not expand too much on haha. It was great that I felt so deeply about these characters, for better or for worse.
It could be pure genre preference or a pacing thing, but I did get a tad bored at parts. But, I think there are many readers, especially those who enjoy the breezy, cozy mysteries with ghost-like vibes rather than pure fantasy, who will find this quite suits them. If anything they are in for a cast of memorable characters!
Green blends engagingly complex crimes and secrets with less common psychic powers, capturing the feeling of cosy paranormal mystery without merely echoing the tropes.
When Liz Grantham’s husband runs off with his secretary and thousands of dollars of other people’s money, leaving her and her children almost destitute, inheriting a cottage in England seems like a lifeline. But, if the mundane difficulties of starting again in a new country weren’t hard enough her next-door neighbour’s mysterious death reawakens an ability to photograph ghosts that she’d hidden from herself since childhood. With the detective inspector in charge of her neighbour’s case certain she is the killer and the circumstantial evidence piling up, she decides she must solve the case herself—even if it means accepting she has psychic powers.
While the novel displays many of the classic tropes of cosy paranormal mystery, Liv’s ability to photograph—and seemingly only photograph—ghosts adds an interesting variation on the usual blooming witchery or other common psychic powers. Green makes logical use of both the disadvantages and advantages of still images, forcing Liv to puzzle out messages that would be easily communicated with speech or movement, but also allowing her to overcome challenges by providing better evidence than her word and nebulous spookiness in the room.
As is common in cosy paranormal mysteries, and indeed most types of mystery novel, there are more secrets in the community that might explain the crime than be present in real life and characters’ schemes are potentially more convoluted than the average person; however, this is not patently unfeasible and remains well within the bounds of plausibility for the genre.
In contrast to the high drama of the murder investigation and Liv’s previous life collapsing, Liv’s attempt to build a new life is skilfully mundane, both giving it a greater emotional power, and creating an engaging contrast with psychic powers and decades-long feuds.
While the novel contains a tentative romance subplot that is impeded by distrust, Liv having psychic powers and being the lead suspect in a murder enquiry make it entirely plausible that matters are not resolved by simply talking to each other; thus, readers who dislike classic romantic misunderstandings might well find this arc less frustrating.
While the book ends with Liv still poor, she has not merely identified the murderer but started to find a place for herself in the community; thus, while this novel is the first in a series, it could be read as a stand-alone.
Liv is a sympathetic protagonist, realistically burdened by having her comfortable life torn away and having to make a new one with two children, but striving to overcome rather than succumb to passivity and angst. While—as expected from a protagonist—she solves the mystery, her approach relies on determination and skills that are reasonable for a college-educated housewife rather than a conveniently useful unusual past. Her re-discovery of her psychic power is well-balanced between immediate acceptance and wilful disbelief.
Blake, Liv’s teenage child, is non-binary. Green neither glosses over this nor constantly has it affect other areas of the plot, portraying a character who feels they are non-binary but is as realistically caught between certainty and self-doubt over how that aspect of their life should be as they are over everything else.
The supporting cast are plausibly each possessed of secrets, conflicting desires, and strange quirks, both adding to the mystery and making them feel like rounded people rather than tools and obstacles for Liv’s progress.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I recommend it to readers seeking a cosy paranormal mystery with an engaging variation from the usual magical advantages.
This book follows Liv (42 years old), her two daughters ( 9 and 15 years old), and the people they meet after they move back home to Fairwyck from the US due to their unexpected circumstances. As soon as they arrive someone dies and here we have Liv trying to figure out what is going on and who is responsible for eveything that is happening now.
The ideas were there but not fully and well developed. We have a lot of things going on, and the characters are plain and not believable. I couldn't care less about any of them, honestly. Liv was acting like a disoriented 20-year-old something, not a 40+ yo woman, I think her daughters were more mature than she was at times.
This was Police Academy meets Mr. Bean, but not in a nice way. Every character in this novel is either obtuse or so naive that I don't know if I should laugh or cry. If these characters were to be let in the real world with all the things they did, a lot of innocent people would get into trouble because of them because they wanted to play detectives, and the ones who are the real deal are anything but professional; it just crosses the line between ridiculous and tragic.
Everything felt so farfetched in this book. The last part of the book was just all over the place the ending was kind of cosy, what I would have expected most of this book to be in the first place. The writing was approachable and easy to follow, and I had no issues with it.
I really enjoyed the fact it was set in the Cotswolds. I used to live there for almost 5 years, and it is a lovely part of the UK. So I could totally picture the little village of Fairwyck with its cottages and all.
Oh, the only character I liked was Phyllis, lol. I get why she was so grumpy with side characters like those I would be, too...
Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way was, yet again, we have this ideology of the pronouns... I can't say too much without spoiling, but I think every newly published book has a bullet point checklist so they can get published. I call it the all-inclusive-must-have-starter-kit... If you know what I mean you know.
The cover is lovely, though.
I received an advance review copy for free from Booksirens, all opinions and thoughts are my own.
Overall, this was not what I was expecting it to be. Hence, I gave it 2 stars. I am sure most people like it, and I fall into the minority here, it has great reviews, and this was what made me think I would love it, too, alas, I stand corrected.
It's a rundown cottage, but it's located in the beautiful Cotswolds, far away from the scandal of her ex-husband's Ponzi scheme. Moving her two somewhat resentful daughters away from the US to the English countryside allows Liv Grantham a fresh start. Honest work as a barmaid and a house cleaner brings in just enough revenue to allow the three to live comfortably. But when the neighbours on either side of her little place are found dead in mysterious circumstances, the police take a look at her background and suspect Liv of wrongdoing. Alone, short on funds and afraid she'll be banged up for murder, Liv starts an investigation using her newfound witchy talents.
While a paranormal cosy isn't usually my favourite genre, this story delighted me. The plot clips along at a good rate - not too fast nor too slow - and allows the author the chance to introduce her characters properly. Snap, Spirit, Murder is not a harrowingly long read, but it is tremendous fun.
The main character had me enchanted by the second page. Perhaps she had gotten all the whining out of her system before I met her, but she is a solid individual determined to put her past behind her and get on with her life. When Liv explains that her former life was full of the trappings of wealth, it makes her reduced circumstances all the more piteous.
I did work out where the story was headed, but then I was thrown by an unanticipated twist. Liv begins her detective career bumbling around before finding the right track. Ordinarily, this would annoy me, but I was so charmed by the character that it felt endearing.
This cosy forges a path into the world of the paranormal. The magic end of the affairs is not overtly "woo-woo" and I can see people on both sides enjoying this story. I hated getting to the last page of the book because I was enjoying it so much. I can only hope the next instalment in the series arrives quickly!
Thank you to Felicity Green and BookSirens for the opportunity to read this digital ARC. My opinions are my own, honest and true.
Liv's husband has been arrested for a ponzi scheme at the same time her aunt dies and leaves her a small, enchanted cottage in the small town of Fairwyck, England. With no other options, Liv takes her two children to England to start over again. Once in England they discover that they each have magical powers, as do their newfound family members. When their new neighbor, Matilda, is found murdered in her home, they each use their powers to find out what happened to Matilda.
Paranormal is not my favorite sub-genre of cozies, but this was a pick for my book club. Overall I enjoyed the story but there were a few hiccups. In the beginning Liv went crazy yelling at Jamie when he accidentally spilled something on an art print she'd bought. She was really awful to him. I don't see how he could possibly come away from that interaction with any romantic interest in her. There were also several things in the book that made the story fall a bit flat for me. The most notable was that the murder was committed at a time when Liv has a solid alibi and the other death was ruled accidental, but somehow one of the police still considers Liv a strong suspect and she is very worried about getting arrested and going to jail. Why? There were also some awkward moments in the book where really important things were either glossed over, like one of her kids deciding to identify as non-binary, or discussed to a level that was uber-cringe, like when Esme was telling Liv that her boss Judith could have been supported by a sugar daddy or worked for an escort service because of her similarities to Anna Nicole Smith.
I loved Gina and Emerald (although why didn't they reach out to her when she got to town?) Liv was not a great main character, she was too volatile, but I liked her kids. Matilda was probably my favorite character so I was very sad to see her go so soon. As a whole I thought the book was cute.
It was fun, a cute little read. Love a good cozy mystery! This was right up my alley and I thought it was well done. There were a few spelling errors here and there but those didn't affect the reading at all.
I think my favorite character was Blake, love them! I am very jealous of Audrey and her I think the author handled Bianca/Blake really well and I was happy that everyone knew what was up and was supportive right away, and the fact that Blake was still Blake by the end, was amazing. So glad this wasn't a typical, queer character is "fixed" by the end type of story.
I will say, I did not like the "romance" between Jamie and Liv. They both kind of suck, and I just don't get the tension between them, other than "he's hot." Also can't stand Liv's fake little detective thing. I get it
I think this book has a lot of heavy topics, but the author did well, and I think everything was handled respectfully, and as it should have been.
I would recommend, and I will be picking up the next book in the series!

What an absolutely splendid series by Felicity Green of who’s writing ,I’m very keen. It has to be said ,I’m so glad I have had so many books of her’s I’ve already read. I knew I’d be getting a good tale and her writing is top notch off the scale. The way this book grabs on the first page is an amazing start in any case ..Fast paced too. The premise is this . Our budding sleuth has just a few of things in her arsenal to help her solve the mystery of a persons murder you see. A trusty marmalade cat ,inheriting a cottage ,oh and a ghostly camera. Liz Grantham’s life took an unexpected downturn thanks to her dastardly hubby so off she pops from the U.S. to the charming English village she left as a child, with her two daughters. She captures some ghoulish photographs of her dead neighbour and now she stands accused of breaking in and doing her in!? Framed for the crime no less . So she must delve into her paranormal powers as she’s a little bit rusty at forty two and needs to learn quick as well as reaching out to her psychic relatives to help out . She must find the real murder forthwith before she’s incarcerated ,slung in the slammer before she’s even able to see her first glamour. A real whodunnit mystery with a stellar cast . With this mystery read I sure had a blast. It’s quirky ,it’s spooky ,a little bit kooky and excellent storytelling to boot . A very immersive and compelling read. The characters are a hoot! They’re all amazingly well thought out with depth and such interesting traits . Those descriptors are impressive and the visuals great. Cannot wait to read more from Felicity Green . Encore!!!

The police chief has a grudge against her mother, even though it has been decades since he has seen her. He seems hell bent on taking his anger out on Liv. Will they find the murder before the Chief can arrest Liv? I could not put this book down! I should have started reading this in the morning!
This was a great book to getting me out of a reading slump.
It took me a while to finish but it was absolutely not the fault of the book!
It was a cozy mystery with lots of fantasy, just what I needed!
The book starts with a mom of two, Liv, that moves to England searching for a new life after her husband betrayed her in more ways than she could imagine. There, she discovers everything she knew about herself and her family might not be 100% true, or at least is vastly incomplete.
But before she as a grasp of this new life, something terrible happens, and she sees herself in the middle of a investigation where everything points to her as the culprit.
This book is very well written, super easy to read, with really easy language for someone who is not a native english speaker or as trouble with the language. I felt really cozy while reading it, always wanting to know more about the characters, the plot, about everything!
It had me on the tip of my toes! The only minor thing for me was guessing the culprit since the beginning so that was why it wasn't a 5 ⭐️ for me! Both it really was an amazing book and if you are looking for a book that snaps your attention for beginning to end, this book is one you should consider! Trust me!

This book takes us to the picturesque Fairwyck in the Cotswolds, where Liv and her two daughters return from the USA. The setting is beautifully depicted and you will immediately be transported to this idyllic place. I could perfectly picture the quaint village with its typical cottages.
The story kicks off with an unexpected event that forces Liv to seek the truth. The book offers interesting ideas and plot twists that keep the reader engaged. While some situations may seem unconventional, they bring a fresh and original touch to the story.
The writing style is light and fluid, making for comfortable reading. The end of the book brings a pleasant and soothing resolution that adds a warm feeling to the story.
I particularly enjoyed the character of Phyllis, whose sarcastic humor and straightforwardness were very entertaining.
The beautiful book cover immediately catches the eye and adds visual appeal to the story.
Although I had different expectations from the book, I appreciate its originality and unique approach to the detective genre. I believe the book will find its fans who will appreciate its unconventional humor and the charming setting of the Cotswolds.
Liv Grantman moves back to her childhood home after her husband’s betrayal. Feeling guilt and shame for not seeing his crimes and failing as a mother, she struggles to find her footing. The unexpected death of a neighbor sets her on a journey of rediscovering her roots. With threats, deceit, and suspicion surrounding them, can Liv and her children accept their gifts and solve the mystery?
Snap, Spirit, Murder is the first book in Felicity Green’s new series, Ghost Photographer Paranormal Cozy. At the beginning of the book, I didn’t much like Liv and wasn’t sure I’d connect with her overall. However, as the story unfolded, I realized that Liv’s character had suffered through a number of traumas that had shaped her character. By the end of the book, I was able to empathize with her journey and she felt like someone I’d want to be friends with. The supporting characters are interesting and nicely fleshed out and I look forward to learning more about them. The paranormal gifts of the Seven family added to the fun of the narrative. The mystery flowed neatly, and while I was able to guess the culprit, I enjoyed how the details were delivered. I’ll definitely be looking for the next book in the series. BOOK REPORT Oh, yay! I do believe I have found my new favorite cozy writer in Felicity Green. So excited there is so much more by her for me to read!
If you’re just arriving to my planet, it’s important to note that Rule No. 1 is Safety First. (Well, concurrently it’s No Beer For Breakfast, but that’s a story for another time and place.) Rule No. 2, or thereabouts, is that I react to books in real time based on how they make me feel/what they make me think. I can and will give (and have given) an extremely literary and well-written book 1 star, and I’ve given complete trash 4 stars. Because it was well-done trash.
Rule No……..9, come to think of it……….is that if a cozy has a talking cat or the like in it?
Imma give it a try.
This book was smart and funny cotton candy for the brain and Ms Green was spot-on with the cat communications.
Perfect way to decompress after a mostly-unexpected visit to the dentist to repair a chipped tooth. Just wish it hadn’t been hot enough to bake cornbread outside in the front yard or I would’ve spent the afternoon reading by the pool.

"Snap, Spirit, Murder (Ghost Photographer Mystery #1)" by Felicity Green is set in a small English village. Liv Grantham is returning to her childhood home after the disappearance of her husband and their wealth. He ran off with another woman after illegally making and then taking all their money. So, now Liv and her two children have come to live in the cottage that her great aunt left her.
For those that like to know, one of Liv's children makes the decision that they prefer they/them pronounce and a more unisex name at the beginning of the book. So a touch of inclusivity there as Liv rolls with it and tries her best to support her child. Then again that's more normal than finding out your children and you have psychic abilities and it runs in the family.
Liv's ability is quite unique in a paranormal sense. When she takes pictures she can capture the image of ghosts (if there's one present). It would be interesting to get more background on how this works or if it's just a channeling tool until she understands her gift fully. Her first adult instance is when she is in her recently deceased neighborhood's home and trying to take pictures of some DIY ideas. So, still coming to terms with her abilities. Too bad the person inheriting the house freaks out about her being there and calls the cops.
Live ends up trying to solve the death of her neighbor(s) after it becomes clear that the detective on the case has some grudge against her. Liv learns more about herself and her whole family at the same time. Wasn't really surprised by the culprit though there are a few options.
Liv has just moved, with her 2 children, from Connecticut to the town in England where she was born, after being left by her criminal husband. In bad shape financially, she moves into the cottage her great aunt left her. Great Aunt Ethel also left her a camera....and there is a cat as well.
Suspected of murdering her neighbor, Liv sets out to solve the mystery, while navigating her new life as a single mother and some rediscovered paranormal abilities, and learning to trust family & friends.
There's SO much more. There are a lot of different things going on in the story, but they all work well together and are told in a way that is easy to read and follow.
Great characters, a number of potential suspects, an excellent story-line and lots of twists and turns made this a book I found it hard to put down!

Liv Grantham and her two daughters lost everything when her husband was arrested in the U.S. If it hadn’t been for inheriting Aunt Ethel’s cottage in Fairwyck, England, they would have been on the streets. It isn’t what her daughters are used to and they have no problem telling her. Liv was cleared of any wrongdoing but her limited job skills won’t pay bills or put food on the table. Working in the pub and cleaning houses will help, but when a neighbor is found dead and the DI is intent on arresting Liv, their life is in turmoil again. She needs to solve the murder or her family will have no future. It is time to break out her old Nikon and get to work investigating ghostly images.
This series is off to an exciting start. I like the hint of possible romance and her unconventional relatives. The clues were fun to follow. I received a free copy, but my review is honest and voluntary.
This is your typical cosy mystery. Girl meets cop and falls in love. Girl is nosy and stumbles into crime scenes all the time and thinks she can solve them. Girl gets almost killed every time. Cop rushes in to the save the day at the last minute. If you like cozy paranormal mysteries, this is the series for you. The main character is slightly less annoying than many main characters in cosy mysteries. She doesn’t always follow her instincts when they tell her to do something, which ends up with her in trouble. But at least she thinks about it. It might not sound like it, but I genuinely enjoyed this series. It’s cute and had a lot of likeable characters. Each family member had a different paranormal gift that is quite useful and keeps things interesting. There are not two books os far that I am aware of, and I’ve enjoyed them both. Definitely looking forward to the next one. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A good start to this new cozy murder/mystery series, with a touch of magic. After inheriting a cottage, & in need of starting afresh, Liv Grantham moves with her 2 children to a run down cottage in a small village in England. Quite a culture shock all round, especially when she discovers she has some relatives living there too that she knew nothing about.
It’s a good plot & I liked the premise of the Seven women but got a bit frustrated with Livs bumbling around to start with. However, she is basically a really likeable character with a unique talent. I love Esmerelda and Ethel the cat, there’s a possible romance in the offing as well as a couple of murders Liv really needs to get solved as she’s the main suspect. Enjoyable read.

Snap, Spirit, Murder, my first read by Felicity Green, but definitely not my last. A well paced cosy murder mystery with that added touch of magical paranormal talents that links the females of the Seven family. A really enjoyable light read that is well written and which caught my attention from the beginning and I devoured in less than 48 hours, and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Things haven’t been going so well for Liz Grantham but when she inherits her Great Aunts cottage, she moves herself and her 2 children from the US to the small Cotswold village of Fairwyck. Unfortunately life doesn’t seem to get any easier for Liz, and when a neighbour dies unexpectedly she is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can Liz prove her innocence and find the real killer?

This was a cozy mystery and a light-hearted read. I'm a bit confused about some of the details of the paranormal abilities the Seven women have and whether some have more than one. I went through a roller coaster of emotions while reading this book. I wanted to scream at Liv when she kept getting caught in the middle of everything but I also felt bad for her because of her background. I think Liv should consider a career change to detective as I felt she was the only one in the book trying to solve the mystery. I wish the book had talked a bit more about what led to Liv's new situation and her family as I feel that would have helped the reader empathize with the characters a bit more. I'm excited to read the second book and continue on Liv's journey. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
