After five months of journeying across the continent with her sister, Quinn is finally ready to return to the king she swore to serve.
But war has been brewing over Norcasta in her absence. While Lazarus may reign as king, there are those that would see the blood heirs in power instead.
Quinn, however, will never let that happen. Her brutality threatens to drive a wedge between her and those she cares about, but they should know she would do anything to protect them.
Caught between the wills of his Left and Right Hands, Lazarus must navigate the pit of vipers that is his court and decide what sort of king he wants to be. But when Quinn pushes too far, she ignites a series of events that will either cement his rule, or destroy House Fierté entirely.

This series is so good it's making me reconsider skipping the author's other books. I had read the Lucifer's daughter's book and I didn't enjoy it but when I read the blurb for this series I was too intrigued to ignore it. I reread the previous three book before I read this one because I wanted to soak in every bit that was Quinn and Lazarus.
I am upgrading this book to my favourite shelf because Quinn is legit what I want in a female character when I'm reading a book. I just love her. She doesn't let the D blind her like some other 'heroines'.
I am about to start following this author and checking if I can score an ARC because I need some Quinn in my life. Totally recommend.
Very dramatic! "For King and Corruption," takes Quinn Darkova's journey to new heights. Filled with intense action and surprising twists, it keeps you hooked from start to finish. The characters' struggles and relationships are compelling and emotionally charged. This installment deepens the plot and ramps up the excitement, making it a thrilling read 👌 ..that ending though 😱 Excited to hear how it all ends in the next one! 4.5 ⭐️’s
The sun slipped below the horizon. In the darkness, where he saw only her, Lazarus began to plot his revenge. He began to plot the end.
First half of the book was a bit slow and at times a little boring but the end and the sex scene (which became way dirtier than I thought I was gonna get (yay!!)) really made up for it. Definitely may have shed some tears because OMG THAT CLIFFHANGER but I'm super excited to see what Lazarus is going to do after what happened, and he better not disappoint me!!
Me.... Crying.... Me..... Dying... Me.... Sobbing.... Me... Sniffing.... Me..... Screaming.... And finally banging my fists on the pillow!!! BRUTALLLLL ENDING!!!!!
Just like what author wrote in her note. If I don’t have the last book in the series ready, I probably would strangle her after reading that ending!! 😳😂
Honestly, I'm disappointed with this book. It was the least enjoyable out of all four books. I don't feel like a lot even happened.
Before I got half way through the book, I had a feeling it was going to end how it did. Just by all the extra posturing from Quinn. Of course then someone would come in and bring her down a notch. It was actually cringy. What she did with her magic at the end seemed rather pointless. I rolled my eyes at them just standing around instead of getting to the action.
I felt the budding relationship with Risk and Draeven was so predictable. I saw that coming when Risk was introduced in the last book. I was skimming their chapters because, to be honest, I just don't care about them. Their attitudes about Quinn were unnecessarily nasty too, they only ever thought bad things about her. I feel like the scene with Quinn and the soldier came out of left field to make her more cruel than she has been. I don't remember her having done cruel things in the previous books unless they were deserved. Draeven's constant comparing of the sisters got on my nerves completely, why was that even necessary?
The only person I liked in this book was Lorraine.
Wow WOW that ending. I just... wow. This world just sucks me back in like it is nothing. The political intrigue that is pushed aside for violence and actually letting the characters cause so much death? Wonderful. Can't wait to see how this will end.
This series is just amazing! I love Quinn and Lazarus so much. I do feel Lazarus was downplayed in this book and hopefully the next he kicks ass. I need the next book like now. The first 4 have made a home on my shelf.
I feel like this book hasn't really done anything for the series as a whole. Quinn has become a stagnant character as the books go on. The authors have made her so completely overpowered for the entire series and then she looses in a very pathetic and rushed way. If she was going to "fall from grace" I wish she would have been at least smart about it like the previous books have been pushing in our faces so heavily. Shes supposed to be this smart and deadly capable murderess and yet she doesn't have the oversight to think that maybe the person who controls desire and has repeatedly shown in front of Quinn that she can get under Lazarus's skin that maybe she could do it in battle. The discussion of Quinn's lack of trust in everybody around her has been at the core of all these books so its unbelievable that she would die in a way that she would have avoided in the previous books, especially when the last time that she went into her kill everything mode she(Draeven mostly) had to stop herself from killing Lazarus.
Speaking of trust, all of her relationships with the rest of the court are disappointing. She hasn't really made any real or deeper connections with anyone throughout the last 3ish books. I wish she could have made better connections with the other parts of Lazarus's court besides the connection she has with Lorraine. I thought that in the last book she made some progress and understanding with Draeven and it would have been nice to for them to explore the intricacies of their very similar yet completely different relationship with Lazarus. They are two sides of a coin, not just opposites. Her relationship with Axe could have also been show more deeply as a reluctant mentor type of relationship instead of just a comment by Loraine. It seems that all the development that happened in the last books was thrown out the window in favor of book one type mind games with Lazarus.
When it comes to Risk it makes no sense for Quinn to be jealous, especially when were told that shes been trying to push her to trust and befriend the rest of the court on top of pushing her to be less afraid of men. I don't believe that Quinn would be so selfish to destroy that, and if that's where the authors wanted to lean into then they could have put more impact behind what happened at Axes birthday party. Both sisters barely even thought about it, the only thing that came of it was when Quinn apologized for keeping her worried. We didn't even get to see the growth that came with that decision. It would have been nice to have a chapter or two about their adventures and the problems that come with relearning each other after 10 years apart.
Lazarus's character has become just as shallow, if not more then Quinn. His only real motivation seems to be sleeping with her. Its clear that they are heading towards some kind of love soulmate type deal but he doesn't really seem to think or debate about that or even be disturbed that hes feeling that way. Every time they interact he seems mad that shes undermining him and drawn to her but in a very shallow way and not even of his own accord. Again, it would be nice to have more development in their actual relationship. Normally the smut part of relationships is entertaining but in this instance it just detracts from what would be good character development and a better understanding of their motivations. It could even show how damaged they both are and how similar they are. Instead of telling us that they are two of the same, show us through their reactions to both situations and each other.
Now on to the actual plot. It was okay. Mostly it was predictable and repetitive of all the other books. I'm tired of seeing Quinn and Lazarus go in circles. It seems that the authors were trying to keep her as bad ass and over powered as possible so that her death would be a shock but it just makes her seem unnecessarily cruel. I get that she dark and craves violence but shes acting like a child. She has repeatedly shown to be smart and capable to the point where literally everyone underestimates her, which is another annoying habit everyone has but I digress. Shes not super scary and sought after because shes a fear twister, her real power comes from her knowledge about the game and how to play it. She has the ability to see long term and act in accordance. Her two outbursts, one with the lord and one with the guard, set her back all the way to the first book. Its so out of character and unnecessary.
I will conclude this with, these books have so much potential, I wouldn't write such a mindbogglingly long review if I didn't think so. The story has been compelling and interesting and I cant wait to see what the new villain will bring to the story, especially with that cliffhanger. I love that there are so many parts of this story to explore and I hope that this series will conclude in a satisfying way.

I will say, I feel personally attacked by that ending.
Goodness, this book was fantastic. I was holding off on finishing it until closer to the release date of the next, but couldn't help myself. I'm kicking myself, now. Once again, I can not convey how much I love this frickin series.
5 stars but I want to take off all the stars because I hate tragic endings. The ending here was absolutely brutal and not in a good way. I so wanted to see Quinn and Lazarus get married at the end of the series, have children while ruling with an iron fist. But with the way things have gone I’m not too sure that Quinn will be back for good now.
For the most part I really enjoyed Quinn and Lazarus’s chapters. Some chapters like Risks and Draevens seemed just there as a way to complain about Quinn or add in another love story. For me it’d be better if Risk spent years getting over her trauma rather than moving on. I’m not saying that she isn’t over as shown half way through the book where she lost it at what Quinn was insinuating between them. But it should have taken her longer to start trusting Lord Sunshine. I found Axe and Vaughn to have been mostly forgettable in this book. Sure Axe had a few scenes but she didn’t really do anything other than abandoning Risk at the end...
Furthermore, Lazareth you fool! He was supposed to be smart and cunning yet he played into Nero’s hands. He was warned by his right hand that inviting the blood heirs wasn’t a good idea instead followed the council of his intolerable noble followers who he knew couldn’t be trusted yet spent a long time trying to appease them. Draeven- ugh, I didn’t like him in the first book and still don’t like him in this.
Anyway I cannot wait for the final book. And need to see how this series is concluded... please be a happy ending. Please be a happy ending. Please be a happy ending.

My heart feels like Quinn has ripped it out and stomped on it and I'm just sitting there watching on in awe at her glory.
5 million stars. I love this series so much.
Quinn is just the best. I loved her even more in this book than before. She is just so wonderfully unapologetic about being a total terror.
I adore the developments between her and Lazerus. They are so perfect for one another and just bring out each others darkness. They revel in who they are and one another, and it's enthralling.
That ending, though, totally slayed me. Thank the old gods and the new for those final few pages. That was completely brutal.
The side characters continue to be awesome although Axe is my favourite. The author's need tj do a spin off series with her yet.
This book wasn't without its issues. Lazerus should have just listened to Quinn and not tried to be tedious appeasing the simpering Lords, and I wasn't overly enamoured by Risk. However, these were teeny things.
I don't know how I'm going tj wait until July for the final book.
Highly recommend if you like your main characters dark.
Was honestly pretty disappointed with this book. The characters have become super one dimensional and Quinn is just awful. Is it bad that I was actually happy/relieved when I got to the end? I mean, I'm pretty sure readers aren't supposed to root for the death of the heroine. I can understand a female lead who's aggressive and generally angry, I love me some snarky badass ladies, but Quinn was arrogant beyond reason and demonstrated the maturity of a goldfish snack. Lazarus, for all his posturing, let's her walk all over him, which is also incredibly irritating. Quinn's always going on about how she "loves her twisted games" but what game does she think she's mastered? Pushing everyone until they snap and throwing tantrums when you lose an argument are more akin to connect four (a game my 5 year old niece excels at) than to master chess. I wish they would have made Quinn just a bit more realistic, the way she was going I'm glad she got knocked on her ass. Debating whether or not I want to finish the series now.
So by the third book, I was thinking that a former local shows up with a bunch of strangers, people from an old powerful family end up dead, and the folks in town just accept what they're being told. It was a bit too much of a stretch BUT revenge was complete and a rescue was made so OK, I'll go with it.
Open this book to a Quinn that is "royalty" arrogant - she does the more extreme version of whatever she wants and doesn't explain anything just expects to be obeyed, a Lazarus that is a push over, Risk that was there but not adding much....and blah. I couldn't finish. Even my joy with Axe and Vaughn couldn't keep me reading. This started out a very interesting series but I cannot finish as my dislike of the characters at this point is overriding my interest in what happens to them.
Yes another 1 in this great series I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book and the interplay between the characters is great fun. Can't wait for the next book in this series I need it now!!!
To be brutally honest, if this had been the first book in the series, I would not have continued. Don’t get me wrong, I love this series. At least I did until this book. I don’t know what went wrong, but the writing in For King and Corruption is simply bad. It is lazy writing full of adverbs that cuts the flow and made me cringe multiple times. It is also way too repetitive. I was quite disappointed and honestly I would have dropped it if I hadn’t already invested time into this series and want to see it till the end. I can only hope the last book will make up for the subpar writing in this one.
So I completely abandoned any hope I had to understand the plot since there don't really seems to be one. I mean, yeah, we follow Lazarus's rise to power and what he does to keep it but it's not something that seems interesting. It is though . The world building is great and the evolution of the characters is exceptional! So I'm not sure where we're going but I'm enjoying the ride... And the plot twists (to the non-existant plot). The ending was AMAZING (but really disappointing as far as Amelia's concerned. I expected more TBH) and I definitively wanted to strangle the authors 🤷🏻♀️
I wish I could say that I enjoyed this book (or maybe not, because I'm glad that I'm not the kind of person who would enjoy it). The first book I thought was beautifully dark, the second one was pushing it, the third one was when I first felt disgusted. But the fourth book, this one... This went places I wish I could un-read. I usually love the characters who seek power and do really dark things to get it. But at some point, some things are just wrong. Every page I read of this made me feel worse instead of better. I would rather not go into detail about what kind of things were described, but I'll suffice it to say that I will be trying very hard to forget the them.
It’s amazing I loved it what I don’t like is cliffhangers that make you scream why!? Like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory lol
It’s better than the last one we get to see everyone interacting with each other it’s nice and fun till it makes you scream 😂seriously it’s a five-star read for me on a spice level, if you’re wondering it’s low it’s about a two there’s some spice it’s very slow burn
WHAT!!! CETTE FIN!! MAIS NOOOOON!!!!!! Ok clairement le meilleur des 4 jusqu’à maintenant, je ne peux pas croire que je devrai attendre pour le 5e et dernier tome (j’espère !!) de cette excellente série!!
