Love-Based Copywriting Method: The Philosophy Behind Writing Copy That Attracts, Inspires and Invites

Rate this book
If you're a conscious, heart-centered entrepreneur, expert, coach, healer, etc. who finds yourself struggling with traditional direct response copywriting and marketing strategies (copywriting is writing promotional materials that inspire people to take action, nothing to do with protecting intellectual property) this book may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

You see, a lot of what is considered traditional copywriting is fear-based -- which is why it can feel hype-y, slime-y, inauthentic and just plain icky. And even though you've been told you "must" use it to attract clients, grow your business and get your work out into the world, you really didn't feel good using it. So it was either a constant struggle for you or you didn't use it at all. (And either way, not only did you lose out because you're not making the impact or money you want to be, but so are all your prospective clients, who aren't getting help for the problems you solve.)

But what if there was another way? You could still harness all the power and leverage of direct response copywriting to grow a profitable, successful business that gets your work out into the world, but do it in a love-based way?

That's what you'll learn in this book.

In Love-Based Copywriting, Michele PW walks you through her love-based copywriting system that she has used over the years to help her clients build successful businesses and get their work out into the world. She includes exercises and even a love-based template to make it easy for you to implement love-based copywriting strategies in your business.

You'll walk away knowing how to market and sell your products and services with love, not fear. And not only will you feel great about it, so will your ideal clients.

A USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author, Michele taught herself to read at 3 years old because she wanted to write stories so badly. It took some time (and some detours) but now she does spend much of her time writing stories. Mystery stories, to be exact. They're clean and twisty, and range from psychological thrillers to cozies, with a dash of romance and supernatural thrown into the mix. If that wasn't enough, she posts lots of fun things on her blog, including short stories, puzzles, recipes and more, at MPWNovels.com.

Michele grew up in Wisconsin, (hence why all her books take place there), and currently lives there after spending nearly 30 years living in the mountains of Prescott, Arizona, with her husband and southern squirrel hunter Cassie.

When she's not writing, she's usually reading, hanging out with her dog, or watching the Food Network and imagining she's an awesome cook. (Spoiler alert, she's not. Luckily for the whole family, Mr. PW is in charge of the cooking.)

This is a short book that basically sums up the non-fear-based marketing principles I used to use when I was copywriter in the early days of my business.

There's not much in there about HOW to write copy based on those principles (which is why, for me, it's only a 3-star), but Ms PW does at least lay out the principles she uses and why she uses them. Plus, if you take a step back, you can see how she's used in them in writing the book itself.

So I wouldn't recommend this as a training resource if you're trying to actually learn the art of copywriting in a more ethical, heart-centred way. But if you know that you don't love copywriting the way it's traditionally taught and aren't sure why (or don't realise there are alternatives), it's a great little primer that covers what one of those alternatives is, and why to consider learning more about it.

Then I'd suggest going away and finding a better, more details how-to resource somewhere else.

Love it! But one caveat on the LOA BS!

This book is a great inspiration for marketers with a heart. One thing I don't like is that Michelle kept preaching about using the Laws Of Attraction which has been scientifically proven to be a psudo-science concept.

Other than that' it's all good. Now it's time for me to start the 2nd book of this series. 🙏🙏🙏

Love-Based Copywriting Method: The Philosophy Behind Writing Copy That Attracts, Inspires, & Invites Volume 1 by Michele PW explains why marketing works and why it makes so many of us feel manipulated. Michele examines fear-based, aka traditional, marketing and compares it to a more positive based marketing she refers to as love-based. Michele makes a good argument for why love-based marketing has the power to be more effective than fear-based marketing. She simplifies the concept and offers steps to get started in an approachable manner. Love-Based Copywriting offers an alternative to the kind of fear-based marketing that often feels so icky for both those creating it and those on the receiving end.

Really helpful book

I work in marketing and most of what I do involves copywriting. This method really helped me lose the generic message and become more specific. The writing exercises are helpful. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

This book did have some good ideas and suggestions, and good messages to keep in mind. It reiterated themes that I've read and heard throughout numerous entrepreneurial / marketing / help your business type books..such as being willing to turn down a client as they're not a good fit for you, your business, or your product. Owning / running a business can never be solely about making money..you have to care about your product and your customers, and using love rather than fear in marketing does support that.

However, I feel as though this book was maybe geared more towards beginners, or marketers just starting out. She explained a lot of concepts and terms that I think were unnecessary to explain. I had also hoped for more examples of how to apply her techniques to real-life situations. And finally, Michele stated that clients don't like feeling like they're being sold to..and I felt that way a couple times while reading the book. Numerous times throughout the text, that should be helping me learn to write my own love-based copy, she referred readers to her own business where you can pay to have them write your copy for you if you're unable to write it yourself. She also mentions a couple other of her books that you really should read to get the full effect of this one book..meaning I'd have to go buy those books too.

In short, there were some good ideas that I will be implementing in my own marketing and copywriting strategies. And at only 90 pages, it's worth the read. I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.

This e-book has some helpful nuggets, but I read it in less than an hour and feel the price of $2.99 was a little steep for the length and amount of content.

The message is excellent, and will be a book I'll recommend to all my clients. But the actual writing of it was rather amateurish, I'm afraid.
